As a military spouse, I've had my fair share of horrible stylists who have said they were blonding specialists....but were most definitely not. We just moved to the area and I set out to find a new stylist, which is always a challenge. I spent several hours checking out different recommendations, scouring Instagram, Facebook, Google and Yelp for reviews, videos, and pictures...and I settled on Danielle at Vichelles. I'm VERY happy to report it was time well spent and all the rumors were true: Danielle is fabulous!! She spent the first five minutes of our appointment listening to what my last stylist did, looking at pictures, and then asking pointed, clarifying questions before foiling my hair. After four months of growth and two hours of work, I'm beyond relived and SO happy to be looking/feeling like myself again! Danielle does spectacular work. Not only that, she's sweet and professional - and her services won't break the bank. Coming from Texas to the DMV, I was horrified to see some stylists/salons charging triple for my normal services - but, Danielle is very reasonably priced. For a partial highlight with shadow root, I paid about $170 after taxes (I did tip on top of that). Needless to say, Blonde Ladies: I've already booked my next appointment and definitely recommend you seek out her services! Next time I'll undergo a full highlight with a cut, which I expect to run me a bit more - but it's well worth the expense! Of note: the salon was chic, comfortable and fun. It was very busy despite being a Tuesday morning. The music was awesome -as was the complimentary coffee they offered. Also of note: they do not take AMEX or Discover. Credit cards charge a 4% fee. You cannot tip on top of a credit card payment - so you may want to consider paying via cash or check. read more

Good vibes and quality cuts! Been going for a few years now and am still happy with the result

I had previously came for a consult a year or so ago with Shelby for extensions. I decided at the time it wasn't right for me however after following Shelby on social media for so long I decided I wanted to give it a try. Shelby is very sweet kind and compassionate. She makes you feel at ease, even if it's just for a quick consult. She's very knowledgeable about hair which is reassuring. After my consult , I decided to book an appointment for mermaid hair extensions. Usually she books 8 to 10 weeks in advance but was able to get me in in five weeks. I anxiously awaited for my appointment! Lol Fast forward 5 weeks, I am absolutely in love with my hair. It not only looks beautiful but it feels good to. The installation of extensions is so important so you can have comfortable wearable hair. I'm so glad I decided to see Shelby and will continue on seeing her for as long as I wear extensions. Got my hair done here today by Linda and I will be back! I was pretty nervous as I'm new to the area and was in search of a new salon and stylist and I'm glad I found Vichelles! Everyone was very friendly, salon was clean. I showed Linda a picture of what I was thinking of getting and decided to trust her with the process. I loved the way my hair came out! I got some highlights and low lights in warmer tones for the fall, I did not get a haircut so I can't speak to that quite yet. Recently I had a blow dry with a stylist by the name of Shaima. I came in with conditioner in my hair so no shampoo was needed just a rinse and blow dry. My hair is only to my shoulders. She did a typical quick blow dry. I paid at the front desk and thought I heard the receptionist say $45. I left but when I arrived home I looked at receipt and it said $65. I called and spoke to receptionist who said she would have to speak with stylist. The receptionist called me back later and left a voicemail stating I would get a $20 credit back but I have not seen it yet. I've had "Many" Blow drys in my life and have never paid $65. I came to this salon because of the wonderful reviews it's gotten on here, however, my experience was not of good quality. I was in and out within 30 minutes and paid $75 for a haircut. The cut is great, the service was awful. I felt like I was being rushed out. The hair wash took 3 minutes, maybe even less. I didn't get conditioner. While my hair was being washed, another stylist asked how long it would be and if they wanted the walk in that just showed up. She said yes and that it would be just 15 minutes. I had one product applied to my hair. The blow dry was rushed with no styling. I do more to my hair at home. When I left, my stylist didn't even walk me out. I stood at the counter for about 5 minutes and eventually someone came to check me out. They didn't even offer to rebook me. I won't be coming back. read more

Disclaimer: Danielle saved my hair! This was actually my second time at Vichelles Salon and I wanted another change. I came in a year ago and met with Jenna, who did an outstanding job with my cut and color, so I knew this salon would deliver again! Both times that I've made my appointments, I've just done it through yelp messaging. It's super easy and quick. I've been able to get an appointment within the week on both occasions. This time, I met with Danielle who took me on my hair journey! We went through different color options and actually ended up avoiding bleach all together, which I didn't think was an option at all! It turned out absolutely stunning! The salon is very chic and trendy, and I enjoy coming here to get my hair done, for sure. My only concern is the price. For the amount of hair I have, it ends up being on the pricier side, which is definitely understandable when it comes to color, but yeesh. Don't come here expecting Hair Cuttery prices! read more

If I could give this place 10 Stars I would. Made an appt on a whim thinking maybe some longer locks everybody is doin it right? Almost 58 but still in the game...Shawn one of the stylist met with me we chatted about what I was looking for even though I really didn't know ...gave me my options gave her opinion having done hundreds of extensions ....Shawn ordered the locks and within 4 days I was walking around with my new look ! They last 8 months they are very small sections oh hair so it takes a minute but .....WHAT?!? No What? Check out below ladies Shawn is the Sh*t... so awesome. Actually the whole vibe of the salon is Kool. I'm kinda over waiting 10 months to get a hair appoint in DC or wherever and This Salon, I know you know when you enter a space the smile say hello but have already sized you up ? EW from the get go. I was wow-ed by Vichelles customer photos and amazing reviews but I had a very mediocre experience. I came in to get a haircut to initially check things out before fully committing to a three hour dye sesh and was immediately impressed when they were able to book me for a haircut the same day. The hairdresser was friendly enough but what I received was just a cut with no forethought for style. It looked okay at first but within the next few days I could tell that it was not going to grow out correctly and one chunk of hair was longer than the other. She recommended product for my hair but did not use any when styling so it looked a bit frizzy at the end as well. In the end I would say I got what I came for, shorter hair in a quick and timely manner but for a full salon experience where I feel like I can come in and feel beautiful and confident until my next appointment this was not the place for me. read more

I'm reviewing this as my second time coming because I worked with a different stylist this time, Danielle. My first experience was amazing and this one was just as great! I get bad anxiety and paranoia when it comes to cutting my hair so I haven't done it in the past 15-20 years. I've gotten it trimmed here and there but never cut. Being pregnant now, I wanted to do something drastic. Danielle was super excited and did a phenomenal job cutting my hair. What used to go down just passed my behind, now goes just below the shoulders. I seriously couldn't be happier with it. I wanted to like this place. To begin, my appointment was at 11:30. I showed up at 11:20 and they sat me on a chair a few minutes after my appointment time. I wasn't seen by a stylist until a whole 30 minutes later. Once the stylist asked me what I wanted done she proceeded to make me wait another 15 minutes for her to start getting the supplies she needed. When she asked me what hair color I wanted, I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted. She looked at the picture no more than 2 seconds and said "oh so you want your hair a little lighter with some highlights!" I have dark brown/black hair and the hair in the picture I wanted had brown hair with some slight highlights. She then went to get the supplies and started adding solely highlights with her taking no more than 10 minutes on my hair. I felt no care or passion into the areas she was trying to highlight. After washing and heading back to the haircut, I looked at myself in the mirror only to see she gave me almost BLONDE highlights. She took only another 5-10 minutes to cut my hair as all she cared about was helping the next customer. I would not recommend coming here as all they care about is rushing through customers and they think they know your needs better than you do. I regret being too shy to say something to her face, but this is my warning to you that this salon just wants money without caring about your hair. read more

I was able to set that up through the yelp app. And I absolutely loved the fast response and how easy it was to set up an appt. I booked an appointment with Lexie. She made the whole 3 hours fly by. New to the area and will continue to be on the search for my salon. Booked an appt for color for 1pm. Arrived 5 minutes early and waited 10 minutes after the girls working the front went to notify my lady and then even some women cutting hair asked who I was waiting for...I was the only person waiting. My lady seemed okay, but was SLOW! I got all over color; no highlights, no cut, nothing fancy and it took 1 1/2 hr! She left me sitting for 30 minutes processing; not even checking on me as the salon buzzed around me like a factory. I was not impressed what so ever. My color looked fine, but closer look I had color stain around the frame of my face she did not bother to clean up. To sum it up I was billed $150!!! That's more than I ever paid in Southern California in 15 years doing highlights or color. Ridiculous and way overrated salon. read more

Shelby Anderson is amazing! Yes they cut guys hair here. I am one of those guys that is very particular to getting my hair cut a certain way. Since moving to DC I had one person cutting my hair till they moved away. It took me awhile and many different salons till finally my fiancé found Shelby Anderson for me. It is a family business with Shelby's mom working at the chair next to her and her sister at the counter. Everyone there makes you feel welcomed and it happens every two weeks I come that everyone is involved in some topic of discussion there. Good atmosphere. We called about 30 min before, wanting to get 2 peoples eyebrows done and they actually took us! The girl on the phone was super nice and she was also at the desk when we got there, we walked back immediately to where they do eyebrows and were in & out within 20 minutes! The lady who did our eyebrows was very professional and asked our opinions before doing anything which was nice not to be pressured into anything. They were pretty busy, but everyone seemed happy go lucky! We only were charged $10/ each, such a good deal! This salon is NOT signed Vichelles on the outside, so for location we couldn't find it for about 5 min lol but it is right next to a nail salon and Giant. We'll be back! read more

The photo on the left is what I asked for and the photo on the right is what they gave me. I understand my hair would not look EXACTLY like the inspiration but Lexie (my stylist) said she would be able to replicate it almost exactly in one sitting. As you can see from the picture- the color is inaccurate and I was given low lights and highlights. Nothing remotely what I asked for. This is not balayage which I paid $375 for. In the salon I had expressed to Lexie (my stylist) that my hair was streaky and not blended properly but she disregarded and ignored me saying it was blended- shutting me down. After sending her this picture and telling her again I wasn't satisfied with the result of my hair along with letting her know multiple people also told me my hair is not balayage and color is off she told me "Then you need to trust what I'm saying and not your friends who don't do hair". Upon my disbelief, I reached out to 2 other salons (to get expert advice) who also stated she did not provide the service I had asked for. Lexie stated if I wanted more color in the back (which would make it look the way I had initially asked) then she would charge me more money... please help me understand. I first visited this salon in April 2021. I got my roots done and a haircut and was charged $173. Today (August 2021) I went back to get my roots done NO haircut and was charged $170. I don't understand how that's possible. The level of stylists was the same, I checked their website so it's hard to understand why getting my roots done cost the same as root and haircut. I do not recommend this salon, prices are not advertised anywhere so basically they charge as they wish AND they don't give you a receipt. read more

6/1/2017 - minus 5 review. I was burned with a scalding hot curling iron on the back of my neck. It was painful, and will leave a scar. Not to mention it ruining a social event I had to attend on 6/3, as I could not be exposed to sunlight in the area, or the chlorine in the pool. I realize this was a accident. However, the disturbing part of this incident was the way I was treated, by not only the stylist, but, the owner! The stylist (L.), knew she dropped the hot iron which bounced off my neck and hit the back of the chair. She did ask if I was ok, but nothing else. Ice should have been offered immediately, and then a determination made if further medical attention was necessary. The stylist walked me to the counter to pay, and then rushed out while I was still there to take care of her personal business. I then brought it to the attention of the receptionist, who in turn alerted one of the owners that I was requesting something be put on the burn. She looked at it. Confirmed it looked like a burn, and an employee applied some kind of cream/ointment? I did not see what it was? I was not offered an apology, or any kind of compensation, i.e., discount or free future visit. Needless to say. I will never be returning, and intend to seek counsel for damages, and alert the Better Business Bureau of this incident. I will also inform my friends that currently go to this Salon, and any potential clients. Salons are a dime a dozen in this area, and very competitive. This place is noisy, and disorganized, with bickering and confusion. It is way too pricey for the unprofessional atmosphere! A salon experience should be relaxing, and enjoyable. Instead I was stressed out for over three hours! Also, I was here twice as long because of a color mistake that had to be corrected, and other clients in between. My time is important as well. Obviously, I did not get the undivided attention I should have during this visit. In conclusion. If you are still inclined to visit this establishment after reading this review, beware, and be alert to the surroundings. Enter at your own risk! read more

I am SO happy I found Vichelles Salon!!! Jenna cut and highlighted my hair today. Not only was she friendly and easy to talk to, but she is extremely talented. I've been getting highlights for 15 years and this is the best they have ever looked. My hair came out exactly as I wanted it to based on a picture I shared. The Salon itself was clean and everyone was friendly. I switched from partial highlights to full highlights last minute and they accommodated me. They were upfront with pricing and what I should expect. Jenna also shared a lot of tips when it came to hair breakage and keeping my color looking fresh. I went to Vichelle's last night for a haircut based on a recommendation. I like the location because it is near where I live. I also liked that I called at lunchtime for a 7.30 appointment that night and it was possible! I hate getting my haircut ordinarily, but this was actually really nice! Regina was the stylist I had and she was really sweet and made me feel relaxed and she didn't push me into anything I didn't want, like a shorter haircut or cutting off more length than I wanted. My hair is wavy/ curly and I don't want to blow dry it or do a lot of styling. The cut recommended to me was with shorter layers to help even out the poufy distribution of waves and I said "let's do it!". I'm really pleased with the appointment and the cut and I think I'll go back for trims and for cuts now that I know it's so convenient and I got a great haircut. One thing to note is that you cannot add tip to a credit card, so make sure you bring some cash. I would definitely go back, great haircut, great price and even great conversation! read more

Horrible. Called for an appointment morning of for a shampoo and cut. I come in for my appointment with Shawn and she has me sit down across from the client she is finishing up with. She asked me what we were doing and what length I wanted and I gave a brief description with 2 in, give or take, as to where I wanted my hair to fall (I made this gesture pointing to myself without a mirror). I get shampooed and sit down in her chair and she spins me away from the mirror for the entire cut and just starts cutting. I was given less than 30 seconds to tell her what I wanted to do. I told her I have issues with my ends being blunt and because I'm in the military, blunt ends make it difficult to do my hair. I also never got to look in the mirror with wet hair and give an exact spot as to where I wanted my hair cut up to. I also mentioned in the middle of the cut that from what I could see, it looked too short and she dismissed it clearly not caring about the fact my hair needs to be a certain way for me to do my hair for work. As a result, my hair is too short to do the way I'd like to for work. My hair is different lengths which I specified I didn't want, and I asked about thinning my extremely think hair and I was immediately dismissed. At the end I was not asked how I like it, I was simply told to go to the front. Shawn's complete disregard for what I actually wanted done has now genuinely made my everyday life extremely harder. Huge waste of money and I couldn't be more angry with my experience and the hairdresser. read more
