AMAZING! I have been here multiple times. I needed a last-minute appointment, and my previous stylist wasn't available, so I chose "anyone" when booking. YAY - got an appointment on short notice. Priscilla was my stylist, and I was amazed at her craft. She gave me the most beautiful foilyage (cross between balayage and foil highlights) and got me to the blonde I have always wanted. Cannot wait to go back for touch-ups with Priscilla again. Amazing how you meet the right stylist/colorist by chance. read more

I've been a client of Hilda's for more than two years. She is a wonderful stylist. She listens to what I want and makes great suggestions. She does a great job with my color. The salon is relaxing and a pleasant place to be. read more

Made a same-day appointment for a cut and I was SO fortunate to get an appointment with SemaJa! I have had mixed luck with stylists in the DC area but SemaJa listened to what I wanted (trim off the dead ends, face framing layers and a low maintenance style) and she DELIVERED! She found the happy medium of getting rid of the frizz while still preserving my length and gave me a style that looks great with minimal effort (I have a new baby so styling tends to take a back seat these days!). The space is beautiful but what really shined were the quality of cut and the friendly conversation. I'm happy to have finally found a stylist I love in the area! read more

You know I went to salon 46 twice both times I walked out of there with black hair in both times I told them I did not want dark hair they did not listen to me. They did what they wanted to. Well I tell you one thing I will never, ever go there again? If you don't want black hair don't go there i was i don' I was in a wright loss medication for 4 months. And I lost a lot of weight in my face. So I said to her. Please don't give me black hair because it will accentuate. My weight loss in my face. I want a lighter color but she didn't do that because she's obese and she doesn't understand weight loss medications to the owner of this salon . You need to talk to her and tell her to listen to Her. Customers read more

No problem with the stylist. Management needs a head check. Initial appointment link ONLY gives the option to confirm which you don't know until you click it and it goes to confirmation. Confirmation page just says thanks. Second appointment reminder includes, reschedule and cancel ... which aren't actually active buttons and THEN there's an email address. I canceled within the 24 hour window with an email. Got the notice of $100 cancellation fee. What's broken is the mixed message and response from Management that I should know their policy like the back of my hand. Perhaps they could remember they are one of many merchants. And I'm curious if the stylist actually gets the $$ -- within the paradigm I experienced I suspect the salon is pocketing it. So BUYER BEWARE -- mixed messages and no room for error. read more

Went here for a trim recently after not having really focused on my hair for close to two years. My last cut was over a year ago and last color was definitely over two. I was able to get in quickly with Priscilla for both on different days (less than 7 day wait total). They were very flexible when scheduling given I preferred weekday afternoon/Friday hours and likely wouldn't be free on weekends. Priscilla listened to exactly what I wanted and gave expert level feedback both on what I was asking and on what she could do given the condition of my hair (super dry). My trim is excellent and my hair still looks long and healthy despite removing almost 3 inches. When I followed up for color she did an excellent job toning down the brass and making things look super natural so I would have easy maintenance in the future. The salon itself is nice and relaxed. A cozy environment with plenty of plants and comfy places to sit while you process. All of the staff were very friendly. They have stable Wi-Fi. The music is good but not overwhelming. I look forward to going back. The Oribe and shampoo products also smell amazing! read more

Salon was clean, everyone was polite, hair was colored and cut by Carole & was perfect

This was my first time visiting and I had the best experience! I called ahead to make an appointment for a cut and style and was able to get in within the next couple hours. The receptionist was very nice and pleasant to speak to. I had the joy of having Crystal work with me and I cannot recommend her enough. Right when I got in I showed her a few photos of the look I was going for and she knew exactly what I wanted. She listened to the type of style I wanted and walked me through what she wanted to do, which I loved. The shampoo/conditioner/ scalp massage was amazing and a nice touch. I really felt like she took the time to give me a great haircut and style. As difficult as it can be to find a great stylist I am definitely coming back to Crystal! The salon is very clean and has a cute look to the decor. Each station and waiting area is orderly and clean, which is a huge plus. I was offered something to drink immediately and overall I had the best experience. read more

I am new to the area, and this was my first time visiting Carole at Salon 46. Everything about my experience from start to finish was perfect. Carole knows how to cut intricate hair designs, and Margarite (sp?) gives the best head massage during shampoo time. The atmosphere is lovely, and all staff members are so friendly and helpful. read more

Delilah is the best hair stylist I have ever worked with!!!!She visualizes what I need and want and executes to perfection. She is also honest with her opinions versus other salons where they just agree with whatever the customer says to get the money. Customer is NOT always right. Love this salon overall. Everyone is very nice, it's clean, and girly which I love :) read more

Priscilla always does a great job! Genuine customer service, quality skills, and sincere knowledge. It's great to find a "homegirl" feel at a high-end salon here in Fairfax County, hard to come by. It ain't cheap hontee, but you won't pay any less around here for the same, if fact you'll pay the same for less - she's dope! read more

Loved my experience at Salon 46 with Carole! I had long, super thick, wavy hair and wanted a simple medium cut that looked modern. I brought in a Pinterest pic, as one does, and left with exactly what I asked for. Carole even took the time to teach me how to get the more relaxed curls I haven't been able to figure out. This salon is modern without being pretentious and cute without being cutesy - I will certainly be back! read more

As a curly haired girl and someone without a go-to salon, Dalila was so great. I really have never had a place I would go to all the time with a hair stylist I knew and I think that has now changed. Walking in, Salon 46 was so welcoming and everyone was so nice. Dalila asked me great questions and really figured out what I wanted even when I didn't know myself lol. I would highly recommend Dalila and if you can't get her, I think you would be in good hands with other stylists. Reasonable prices too! read more

I wanted to like this place: right near my house, less expensive than my regular salon, and super cute. I booked a cut and color with a new stylist (Ludy), and although she was very sweet, it just didn't work out. The TLDR version is -- somehow she managed to dye my roots a really different color from the rest of my hair. When I mentioned it, she said it was impossible to make them the same color (this has never been an issue before, anywhere else), but then put another round of demi-glaze on my hair so it was at least less-worse. Unfortunately, it was still noticeable, and since the fix was only semi permanent, it's gotten worse as time went on. The stylist did spend a lot of time on my hair, and was very sweet, so I tipped her, but I'm not going back. I've uploaded some photos to my review... the cut was also not very good. It's just gotten worse over time, and as my roots have grown in, I'm stuck with tri-color hair. read more

Great experience w Danielle!!! Highly, highly recommend her for any hair color service. She's great

I followed Bridgid here as well. Once you find a stylist who can work with curly hair, you follow her to the ends of the earth. I've bounced around different salons in VA and DC, and I adore the welcoming feel of Salon 46. Everyone working here is professional and friendly, which is not always the case in the uber-pretentiousness of the DMV. I love that there's always plenty of free parking around the salon too! And Brigid....she is a gem. She's funny and sweet and she works color magic on my greys every 6 weeks. She listens to what you want and always has great advice and styling suggestions. Because of her, I've learned to accept my curly hair....and since finding her, I've starting receiving compliments on my natural curls for the first time in my life. My hair and I are at war no more. read more

Whenever I move to a new area I dread finding a new salon, so I'm so glad I found Salon 46 from yelp! This salon uses high quality Bumble and Bumble products- which was one reason why I chose to come here- and I had a great overall experience! Everyone here was so friendly. The lady at the front desk was wonderful and helpful. I love that they had complimentary hot tea and other drinks as well. Ludy was my stylist, and she was so helpful in finding the right shape/style for my curly hair! She first looked at my hair and talked about what I wanted and what she suggested before I got it washed. She was really helpful with how to make my naturally curly hair look and feel better! The lady that washed my hair was amazing- it was very relaxing and not rough. After it was cut (no color) Ludy blew it out and added in curls. I'm very picky when it comes to my hair, and this is one of my favorite cuts and styles I've had! I walked out feeling great. I wish I had a before photo, but here it is after it was cut and styled! Their pricing is the same as the other local high rated salons, so I'm not sure why there is an additional dollar sign. I also highly recommend buying your Bumble and Bumble products here- it supports a local business and the prices are the same as the prices online! read more

I am a client of Priscilla. I followed her here from her old salon. I don't know anyone that does color better than her. I am devoted to her because she truly cares about my happiness. I highly recommend her. On another note, this shop charges much more than the last shop. Not so happy about the extreme prices and I pay at least $15. - $20 more. I actually like the products at the other shop better. But I like Priscilla more. She gets a 5 star but the 4 star is based on my issue with the prices. read more

Love love love my hair. There is always a process to a beautiful transition especially when you've been natural for 7 years. Seeing Priscilla work with my thick curly hair was truly amazing. She definitely was worked a miracle on this one. Yesterday I had a choice between cut or color and with the help of Priscilla's hands, I chose color. She is very professional and willing to teach you about the products she's using and how to take care of your hair. I would recommend her any day. Go check her out at Salon 46. read more

I think Allison did a wonderful job cutting my hair. She nailed it and it's a perfect blunt bob cut. My concern was with the front desk person not wearing her mask over her nose. Aérosols from the nose are released when one breathes out through the nose. The mask is to be worn over the nose and mouth to prevent spreading COVID-19, especially from asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic people. read more

I'm so disappointed. I thought I would have a great experience at this salon after reading the reviews about the stylists. I was very proud of going gray and my natural color which took quite some time to grow out. I asked for highlights to make it a little more silver like Jamie Lee Curtis. Unfortunately I don't think the stylist quite understood my ask even though I showed her a picture. I ended up with blond hair. Something that I sought to leave behind. I left feedback and as opposed to offering to refund my money, the salon only offered to have me come back in for a second try. At this point my hair is so damaged that it will just take time to regrow it out and suffer the ombré look until the bleach blonde is gone. If a stylist can't do what you ask, why can't they just say that without taking $160 out of your pocket???? read more

My hairdresser Carol is the best. I always get compliments on my haircut. Also, the salon is well appointed & stylish.

I found Carole at Salon 46 last year when I moved here. I was in the midst of growing out hair damage and letting my natural grey (white) hair to come through. She was amazing, carefully counseling me through and helping me not look awful in the transition. The entire salon is amazing, clean, warm and welcoming. Being there now with COViD the safety measures are evident and you feel it! I highly recommend!!!! read more

Step 1. Call Salon 46. Step 2. Make an appointment with Tisha Y. I made the mistake of going to a cheap salon and definitely got what I paid for. Thankfully, a friend recommended Tisha... I had the pleasure of getting my curls trimmed and colored by Carole. She is truly amazing, from the moment I walked in the ladies at the front desk were welcoming. The salon it's self is clean and cute. They had refreshments available for the clients in the waiting are, but we're sure to ask me while on their chair if I needed anything else. On to the hair! I had uneven curls and no color in my hair. Carole understood my curls!!! That's huge for anyone with curls, because very easily I can look like a puffy mess, she however didn't allow that to happen :) She did a mix of balayage and highlights that look so good!!! I was so scared but she explained everything and the final results are gorgeous. I'm so happy with my hair color and cut! Thank you Carole read more

I have been going to this salon for about 2 years now. I have had two different stylists Dahilia and Sam and they have both been great. Sam in particular is amazing! She has continued to cut my pixie exactly like I want it and she is so fun to talk to. Highly recommend this salon! read more

Went here based on some great reviews for curly hair. The hair cut that I received was not symmetrical - the sides were different lengths and shapes. I got the haircut Friday afternoon. After letting it dry naturally on Saturday I realized just how bad it was. They were closed and the salon's voicemail said they weren't open until Tuesday. Later, I did talk to someone who let me know their machine was not up to date and their policy was no refund. Seriously? This wasn't a good haircut that I didn't like - it's probably the worst cut I've even gotten. And they expected me wait days and then come back for them it fix it. They have proven that they are not worth the risk of exposure to COVID-19. I'm embarrassed I paid money for this hair cut. read more
