This restaurant has become one of my go-to spots because the food is consistently great every time i visit. The pasta dishes are definitely quality over quantity, which I appreciate. I love a good pizza and theirs is some of the best I have had in Omaha. I love that they have some rotating flavors. Their drinks are also excellent. I like their selection of wines, and all of the other cocktails I have tried were well done. As far as happy hour, this is one of the best around with great options and a nice atmosphere. When it's nice out the patio is relaxing. One thing I really appreciate is that reservations can be done quickly online, parking is conveniently right in front, and the service is always fast and attentive without feeling rushed. Had lunch finally at Via Farina today'. Definitely a very solid 4 stars. Service was excellent. Started off with the fried cauliflower appetizer. Now this should actually be a salad not an appetizer. As it was mostly arugula. Now don't get me wrong it was very flavorful. The cauliflower were delicious. I had the Italiano sandwich. Definitely reminded me of an old school deli Italian. Now I like a lot of red wine vinegar so I asked for extra. I'm glad I did as the bread was a bit dense and cold. Overall the flavor was pretty dang good. Wife had the Italian beef sandwich. I had a fun dinner here with some girlfriends--we all had a great time, I love the food! We started with charred broccolini, which had an excellent flavor. We also had the warm bread on their appetizer list, paired with a ricotta cheese bread, which tasted amazing! For dinner, I have the Tuscan greens, with a side of shrimp. This was the only mile disappointment, as I was looking for something light, and this was covered in very thick/creamy dressing. Next time I will ask for this on the side! The greens were not my favorite, as they were long, and all had to be cut before eating. The shrimp on the side tasted good, but I would have much preferred this to be on the salad as I expected it. My girlfriend's got a variety of pizzas, and pasta, and they all loved their dishes! I would definitely return here, but would not get a salad again. I would go for their pizza and pasta options as this seems to be what they do best. Our server did a great job, taking care of our party of seven, despite training someone else at the same time! Actually 4.2 as the food was excellent but let's start with the atmosphere. Walked in Thursday evening and was seated immediately. Behind us was the loudest group of gals I have ever heard in my life. When I say loud I mean the laughter of a dying hyena loud. My ears are still ringing from the cackle behind me. Waiter showed up and drinks were served quick and without hesitation. We got the crab and artichoke dip. It was nice and bubbly with some good toasted bread. For the mains we had the rigatoni and the gnocchi. The gnocchi was excellent. Looking to be a handmade pasta that was rolled on a board and not the pillow lumps served at other spots. Sauce was comparable to what I had in Italy not the American tomato water slop served in most Midwest Italian joints. Rigatoni was perfectly al dente with the same luscious sauce. Oh and the pizza oven. I mean it was so hot I could feel it from my seat 8ft away but in a good comforting way. Definitely a place to check out. read more

Via Farina is one of the more upscale local spots in Omaha. It's not the most inexpensive place ever, but I think the quality of food and ambiance mostly makes up for that. I have eaten there a few times, and have had a pretty good experience most of the visits. Our last time we ate there, the service was a little slow, but they were absolutely slammed (right after the holidays). The interior design is very classy with lots of light woods and black. The bar is super cool with tons of bottles integrated into the back wall in the X crossed recesses. The ceiling matches the rest of the interior with light wood beams against black for a pretty neat look. We started with the meat and cheese plate, which had lots of delicious cheeses, meats and veggies of super high quality. Everything was situated on the board so photogenically - I had to snap a pic immediately! My husband and I also shared the wedge salad, which was very crisp and flavorful, with tons of veggies, fresh iceberg lettuce, and a blue cheese/balsamic dressing. I had never had a blue cheese I liked, but this one (mixed with the balsamic) was the way to do it. I had the Meatball (open faced) sandwich. It had super flavorful meatballs covered in a hearty marinara sauce, and melted cheese, on a nice crispy bun. It came with fries, that were also pretty tasty - I think they had parmesan on them too, which I liked. My husband got the Patata Pizza (he shared a piece with me). It was a white sauce base with a few cheeses, potato chips, and little slices of potato. I am a potato fan in general, so this was great to me. My husband and I basically switched up eating each other's back and forth! For dessert, we tried the cannoli (a holiday edition!) and the tiramisu. The tiramisu was pretty darn good, but I love all tiramisus basically. The holiday cannoli was good, but a little too crunchy for my tastes. I think Via Farina is a nice option for a night out or a business dinner. It's definitely on the spendy side for the portions you get, but I feel like that's most modern restaurants nowadays. read more

I visited this new location again for my birthday dinner. I tried something new: the sourdough tagliatelle. This is the perfect pasta for the picky "I only eat buttered noodles" member of your family. I thought it was very good, but I would choose to to add the truffle for an extra flavor note next time. My mom had the autumn risotto which I sampled, and it was fantastic! Now this was a dish that was full of flavor. I was also really impressed with the portion size. Make sure to make a reservation because walking in is not easy. The first time we went in on a November Friday we were able to be seated at the pizza bar (didn't have a reservation) and they were incredibly disorganized. Servers were bringing the wrong orders to all of us, mixing up our orders with the party next to us and seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. The pizza bar is very cool but is slightly overwhelming and hard to have an intimate dinner when they are right there. The meatballs tasted fake, the artichokes were bland but the pizza stole the show!! Second time we went in on a December Thursday and had a reservation. It was much more seamless but the host was so grumpy and not very friendly. The server was ok though. The charcuterie board was disgusting. They could have added more jam and mustard to it (ratio was very off) and the meat tasted like it had been sitting out for days. I've had so much better charcuterie boards for less, even. The pizza once again stole the show. I'm giving four stars because I'd go back for the pizza each and every time. We've gotten pasta both times too and it's just meh. The lobster one is overpriced for the quality and the bucatini is boring. All in all, make a reservation and just go for pizza! Or order a pizza to go! read more

The sourdough bread crust was soooo amazing but the portion sizes were way too small for the price we paid. My boyfriend said the beer was really good too. Fun decor and ambiance with a clear focus on doing Italian well. Not fussy but still elevated. Brought the kids and they enjoyed it! The pizza is that perfect chewy, soft on the inside and charred crisp edges. We walked in and they were able to accommodate us but could book a reservation if you have a larger group or are headed there on the weekend or peak dinner rush. The bar has open seating, but there is not much room for it (about 6 bar stools total), and when folks grab those spots, they tend to eat dinner there as we did and loved it! No valet. Staff was solid and friendly. A bit overwhelmed by the popularity, it seemed, yet they handled it very well ultimately. Food was delicious. We had both pasta and pizza, and found each to be tasty. Some pasta made it home, but didn't last the evening. The room looks very large. It's narrower than the other location, and seems larger. We were very excited to visit the new location! It's much closer to where we live. It has the same vibe as the downtown spot but is more spacious and expansive. The menu seemed more elaborate, offering a variety of options that made it hard to choose. We ordered the Margherita pizza, the lobster mezzaluna, and the sourdough tagliatelle. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The pizza is still my favorite. For drinks, we tried the Roseberry Beret, which had Tito's, Rosen Bitter, rose water, lemon, and raspberry simple syrup. It was very good and definitely on the stronger side. The service was a little slow, and it seemed they were slightly understaffed for a Friday night. I have been wanting to try this place and I am SO glad that I did! The service was attentive and nice. Everything on their menu looked great, but I went with the rigatoni and it was amazing! All their pastas are homemade and you can clearly tell. It was some of the best pasta I have had in a long time! The portions are a little bit on the smaller side, but still filling. They also offer pizza which looked equally as good. On top of the great food, they had a great drink menu. The drink menu offered alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We were visiting family in town, and they've been talking about taking us to Via Farina for a while. We were excited to check out the new location that just opened a few weeks ago, especially after hearing about the amazing experiences they had at the downtown spot. Unfortunately, our visit didn't live up to expectations. It's clear they're still working out some kinks at the new location. The food didn't quite hit the mark. For example, we had our daughter order some of her usual favorites from the downtown location, but much of it came out either cold or not as described on the menu--like items that were supposed to be toasted but weren't. When we asked, the staff mentioned they were making some adjustments compared to the other location, but in my opinion, if something isn't broken, don't try to fix it. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and welcoming, which is always appreciated. That said, the food definitely needs some attention. I'll still be checking out the downtown location again, but I'm not sure I'd return to the new one just yet. read more
