I came across Veteran Electric through a google search for home standby generator installers several years ago. My initial interaction with the office staff was a admittedly a bit bumpy. But, Vince reached out and quickly put my mind at ease. There was no sales pitch, just an honest conversation and solutions to move forward fairly and efficiently. My first transaction with them was for the purchase and installation of a Cummins 20kw generator for my parents' house. The pricing was more than fair for the professional and clean installation. I was at ease and comfortable with their guys working on their own without supervision. They did what they said they were going to do, and the final result exceeded my expectations. A few months later, we hired Vince and his team again to install a 2nd generator for my Aunt's house. This one was a bit more challenging due to the stricter requirements of the city. But, Vince handled everything professionally while keeping us well informed of the situation. Despite the unexpected extra time out of their control, the experience and end result far exceeded our expectations. Later in the year, Veteran Electric helped diagnose an issue on the older generator at my house installed by a contractor that's no longer around. The service was prompt and fair. I was back up and running quickly. Finally, when we built our new home this year, we hired Veteran Electric again to install a 3rd standby generator as soon as we closed on the house. I was working out of town at the time. Vince and his crew delivered and installed the generator, wired it up, and coordinated with my plumber all without me having to physically be present. I have to unfortunately give this place a bad review. I'll preface that i initiated a project here on yelp and wanted to use veteran electric, they were my top choice. I requested a quote to have a line installed in my garage for electric charging and to add 2 outlets. I received a fast response initially requesting some more info stating the quote would be pretty quick. I started receiving other quotes some saying they needed to come out an 3 that did come out within 48hrs. It took over 3 days to get another response from veteran electric this time through email asking for the same information I provided on yelp. I made the initial request on a Saturday and didn't get an email till Monday which I excused even though I had multiple responses and quotes coming in over the weekend. I responded immediately to the email and again several hours later no response. I messaged them again on yelp saying I still hadn't received a quote and requested that someone come out to do the quote. The soonest they could do was 2 days later on Wednesday. The guy who came out was very nice and the only redeeming part of my experience. He noted everything and gave me a quote quickly. I asked if they'd be willing to match another quote because again I really preferred to give them my business and I showed him what I was quote and he said absolutely we can do that, even put it in the notes. He also mentioned if I wanted to schedule they were about 2 days out which worked for me. When I approved the quote and wanted to confirm they agreed to the price they wanted me to send in the quote for manager approval. I sent it in and got no response the rest of the afternoon. The next day I emailed again and they said they needed a detailed quote specifying exactly what they were doing to see if they were offering the same job and that the soonest they had was a week out and they didn't have any availability the rest of this week. The lack of communication and slow response times to emails and questions made this a very long process. Definitely would have preferred to give them my business and I'm sure they would have done great work but the lack of timely responses, availability and unwillingness to uphold their statement they would honor another companies offer drove me away. read more

I did not use this company, but I called to get some work done. The operator told me there was a $150 fee for the electrician to come out to the property which WOULD NOT be credited towards the work done. I said 'no thanks". A poor way to do business, IMO. EDIT: I called them again, by mistake, and there was no mention of a fee to come out this time, so I went ahead and asked them to estimate some work on the main panel and grounding. Turns out their costs were lower than a highly recommended competitor, so I went ahead. They completed the work the day after I accepted their bid. I'm not sure about their service quality. They provide free estimates but I was quoted $1442 to install outdoor circuit breakers. That seems pretty outrageous. Perhaps he thought he was speaking with an undereducated person with no common sense given the area or condition of the home? I'm so tired of these companies taking advantage. All o can say is always get multiple quotes. I got the circuit breaker and new flood light installed for 350 parts and labor by another electrician and that still may have been slightly overpriced. Just be careful because this quote was unreasonable. read more

The team that came out did a great job. Due to my extremely high ceilings the job required 2 electricians to install my ceiling fan. They also changed a light bulb that was also at the same height as the ceiling fan. The original reason we hired them was to change our electrical outlets, in order to hide the TV cords in several rooms (my husband hates seeing hanging cords). After a nasty storm, my power surged or my garage was hit very close to lightning. I was left with now power to that side of the house or my laundry room. That's something you look forward to,especially after coming home from camping with three kids. Lol. This company came over in a timely fashion within 24 hours. Scheduled an inspection for my home around start of May this year and I have to yet recieve the promised report of their findings. I paid Doc through zelle and they have yet to email me a reciept. As he was inspecting, he was always on his phone and texting someone sometimes for up to 5 minutes at a time. Maybe he had something urgent, but collectively the whole session ended up being around an hour long taking into account the texting. I asked some questions about the house and the wirings etc because I wanted to know what was going on with the house as it was a recent purchase, and he used a lot of jargon, spoke quickly and did not seem willing to really explain what he was saying as he answered my questions for clarification with more jargon. I picked them because of all the stellar reviews, but now I think most of those must be paid or fake Edit: The manager reached out to me after I posted a 1 star review here and I now recieved the reciept and quotes for repairs. I don't know if I'll still go with them to make the repairs though since I don't really understand what the scope of work entails. Like I said, they used lots of jargon and didn't really explain to me what needed to be done despite the itemized billing. However, the office seems to be very responsive. read more

UPDATE March 15, 2024 Vince the owner of this business got in touch with me the day I wrote this review, and came the next morning to finish the job. He was super friendly and accommodating and not only finished the job correctly, but went above and beyond to make sure that it looked nice. Yes, things started a bit rough, but dealing with Vince was a pleasure. Thank you Vince, I am updating my review to a 4 stars. The only reason it isn't a five is because it wasn't done correctly to begin with. I would for sure recommend Vince with Veterans Electric and if the need comes up, I will use them again! I had all kinds of problems getting the work scheduled. I took off of work to be there the day they told me they would do the work only to have Doc call me to tell me he didn't realize I was in Conroe city limits and that they'd have to obtain a permit before doing the work. Well he had been to my home in order to give me a quote for the work so that was a lie of an excuse considering he not only had my address, but had been to my home as well. I decided to over look that and have them do the work anyway and now wish I hadn't. They came to do the work and assured me that when they were done they would label the panel and give me the old Zinsco panel and cover plate because I wanted to keep them. The work seemed to be done ok except that they left without labeling the panel, and didn't give me the cover plate of the old panel. The power did not get cut back on until 12:30am which is an Entergy problem and that isn't Veteran Electrics fault, however Doc assured me that once the power was back on that he would come out to finish the job and label the panel. I texted him 3 different times about completing the work and bringing me back my faceplate but all texts went unanswered. I then go to inspect the work they did and realize that they moved the Wi-Fi box right to a location right above my sprinkler controller and the cord is laying tightly against the door of the sprinkler panel so that I can no longer access my sprinkler system to turn it on or off. My panel is still not labeled and the place where my sprinkler system plugs into the panel either doesn't have a fuse or it didnt get connected because it has no power. I'm beyond pissed at the lack of response, lack of customer support, theft of my cover panel which was antique I'm sure, and the fact that little seemed to be done correctly. Surely running a WiFi service over a sprinkler panel is not to code anyway. Do NOT use this company if you want things done properly and in a timely manner. They ARE NOT it! My work was done on January 26th and it is now March 14 and I am still yet to get a text returned from Doc. If you use them just make sure you DONT get Doc!! read more

While using the yelp project feature, I was searching for an electrician to help me with a faulty circuit breaker that keeps tripping in the panel of my house. Veteran Electric reached out, and it was a rocky start to say the least. When they called, I inquired if they had any availability the same week that I called. Unfortunately they had no openings; no worries... kind of expected it. So then I booked for the following week from 2pm - 4pm because that was the earliest that I could accommodate for them. We were set. A few days before the appointment, I got a call from the scheduler, asking if I could move up my appointment earlier to 12 - 2pm. I told them that I couldn't because I would still be at work and that 2-4pm is when I could be home. The scheduler had an awkward silence over the phone and said, "... okay... ... we'll keep your scheduled time then". The big day came and it was the day before the freeze here in New Braunfels. I got home right at 2pm waiting for a confirmation text... Nothing... no big deal its only 2pm. 1 hour later (now 3pm), I received a text from the electrician, saying that he was running at least 1 hour late because of their last job running over. Although I do appreciate the text, this was outside of the 2 hour window as scheduled. The electrcian was very professional and communicative, but it was already outside of the scheduled window. Bottom line, things happen, but I just wish they kept their appointment times. Although one guy may be busy, it would've been nice if they could dispatch another electrician to make their commitments. Maybe in the near future I'll give them a try. read more

Looking for electrician and decided to search Yelp! Veteran Electric came up with 5 stars so I sent them a message and they responded within 30 minutes and said they'd be happy to help. I called them and set up an appointment. They sent a reminder the morning of (7/5) and Vince was in contact that morning to tell me when he would arrive. I had a ceiling fan installed in my man cave several months ago and a couple of months again I had to stop using it as it would spark and pop when I flipped the switch. It was an easy fix, and he showed me the wires that were touching causing the problem. In anticipation of the worst, we bought another fan in case this one was bad. So when he found out no big deal, we asked if he'd put in the new fan in my wife's scrapbooking room. No problem and he had it all done within an hour. All the time taking about his service to our country in the US Army. He even took the old light fixture and box with him to trash it. Great guy, good pricing, and great service!!
