My husband and I had just moved into our new home when CenterPoint was working on a pole nearby. We didn't think anything of it at first, but then our lights started flickering all day and night. We contacted American Home Shield to send someone out. The first visit didn't help -- they said it was on the electric company. This went on for almost a month. We were frustrated, confused, and honestly starting to feel crazy. We called American Home Shield one last time, and the lady on the phone said, "We're sending the Electric Whisperer -- Daniel." Terrible Experience with SJDI Electric Company I had a very frustrating experience with SJDI Electric. I scheduled a service call, and when the technician arrived, I was delayed due to an airport drop-off for my wife. I explained the situation and asked if he could wait a few extra minutes for me to arrive, but he refused to be flexible at all. To make matters worse, I had to change my flight plans just to accommodate the technician's strict schedule. I'm paying for this service call, so it's not like the technician was coming out for free, and I expected a little more understanding. The lack of flexibility was incredibly disappointing, especially since this was a scheduled service and I was doing my best to make it on time. On top of that, the dispatch, Cindy, was absolutely no help. She was not cooperative and showed no sympathy toward my situation. It felt like they cared more about sticking to their rigid schedule than providing good customer service. I would not recommend SJDI Electric Company based on my experience. read more

Daniel was the 4th electrician I had look at my issue. 2 were my own, & 2 from the home warranty company (AHS). SJDI were the 2nd electricians to come out under the home warranty. I had front door sconces that were replaced & wouldn't work (the old ones were working previously, we were changing them to dusk/dawn). Daniel didn't give up & eventually solved the issue! Electrician came out, through an AHS warranty calls, 8am appointment and he tells me (before even starting) he wouldn't have time to do the whole order. We walked through, I showed him the different issues and he told me what would be covered and what wouldn't. He "fixed" the garage door outlet when the garage door wouldn't work, w it (which was WHY he was called out, garage tech said it was an electricial issues AFTER replacing several parts). He went on to say it was "a track issue". Garage guy had to come back out, shows me the garage door works (w a different outlet) and tells me the electrician didn't even fix the problem. Garage guy SHOWS outlet ISN'T working properly. SJDI told my warranty company I had outlets and switches not connected (so they would deny the claim). I had PLATES off, because we are PAINTING but nothing was disconnected. I asked for proof, w pics the tech should've/surely had taken, person could/would not show me. Told me to get a second quote. I used SJDI due to a breaker that is tripping daily through a home warranty company. The tech stated it will not be covered by my home warranty company n I need to pay out of pocket. He provided a verbal quote on the cost even. The technician conducted himself professionally, documented the required repairs, and indicated that he would submit his findings to the warranty company and proceed with ordering necessary parts. Within two days, our warranty claim was denied based on the technician's report, and we were informed we would be responsible for the cost of repairs. It would be short, review to benefit public. 1- if you home warrantee company customer and company tells you they will SDJI Electric will call you for appointment , Please read read carefully and immediately ask next in line company. 1- Non ethical company : They misguide the warrantee company falsefully to say the product to repair is not authorize for warranty and owner has to pay them out of pocket. This is a trick. Example in my case. (fortunately I am professional electrical engineer) my kids' never like to use remote and always turned on fan or light with switch so fan receiver was bad to be replace and when we told him remote is lost later on company notified we can't use warrantee. I told them remote has nothing to to with receiver fan was working until couple weeks ago. they refuses and want charge me $275 for repair (fan cost only $99) I tried to explain technically for an hour but no vail and they misguided the warrantee company too. I'm so disappointed with Sy and Daniel. We hired Sy about 18 years ago when he worked for another company before SJDI was formed and have used him ever since. They have always been prompt, efficient, professional and had fair prices until now. Maybe 6 or 7 years ago the guys came out to do some work around my house. One of the jobs was to hang a pendant light in my foyer which is about 18 feet high. They charged me $225 for that particular part of the job. Recently, I called them to install an exterior pendant light at the same height as the foyer interior light and some additional work in my garage. They wanted $900 just to install the light. I received an email that my job was put on hold for the holidays. After the holidays, no one followed up so I reached out again and was told the technician would get back to me. After a week I reached out again and Kelly said she would reach out to the technician again. Finally, she said that Sy told her "the price is the price". I'm saddened and disappointed that this is the direction they have chosen with this job of a long time client. read more

He told me the warranty wouldn't cover it before the end of the visit. He was right, but I went ahead and hired SJDI to do the work. I was a little apprehensive about using them after reading the reviews but smaller companies seem to always get a bad rap so I used them in hopes it would work out and change the online narrative. The company was VERY responsive - within half hour of submitting my work order a message was received asking me a time frame for the next available day they had. Ince I gave my window selection, I got another message and a photo of the tech that would be out. I got a confirmation message as well and then the day of, a call directly from the tech. Sy was polite and knowledgeable, asked if he could "slide" a few pieces of furniture on my wood floors or if they needed to be picked up so as not to damage them which is a huge plus for me! We explained the issue and I kid you not, in less than 10 minutes, he found and repaired the problem AND gave me an option for a less expensive "upgrade" I wanted to do. Beeare! Unstabel technician sent to my home! Never use this company! The electrician sent to my house name was Sy. I belive he is one of the owners. He was abrasive from the start of entering my house. It was a home warranty call so there was multiple issues. He didn't even look at one of the plugs and told me not covered. When I told him it was covered before he got crazy and told me I had an attitude and stormed out of my house without looking at the other issue. He was off. I wouldn't feel safe with this company in my home again. I took of of work for the appointment and he treated me like crap. When I called the operator she was rude also. Don't hire them. (((STAY AWAY FROM SJDI))) After their initial visit, SJDI never submitted the assessment report to AHS which they needed to review and assign work to other contractors. During this time, my attic was still burning with high temperature heat in the middle of summer. Impacting HVAC system performance and my electric bill through the roof. I called AHS for days for status, even escalated several times. AHS also made several attempts to email and call SJDI for days with no response. I can only conclude that since SJDI was paid in advance by AHS and they had no skin in the game, sending the assessment report to AHS was no longer a priority. This is UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNETHICAL way of doing business in your community!! read more

Daniel and Sy are incredible! The company was issued to me through my home warranty company after I called to request a new contractor. The first contractor issued had horrible reviews in multiple platforms and I was not comfortable with them doing the work. After a call to the warranty company SJDI was assigned and I am so grateful. My parents were assigned them on the past and spoke highly of them. Daniel came the first day and fixed all the switches that were done incorrectly, and found a very dangerous electrical situation with the oven. Pretty much if I would have touched the microwave and oven simultaneouslyI would have been a conductor and could have been seriously injured. He found that this was due to free current coming from the oven. He disconnected it all the way to the panel due to the code violation. The next day they sent the estimate with what it would cost to fix with the warranty credit and I was scheduled for the next appointment. For this appointment both of them were there and took care of everything that needed attention and for the price they provided. They have great customer service, communication, and efficiency. Their attention to detail and quality of work surpasses the large electric companies and other small businesses. These guys care about the work and the client which is refreshing and how all businesses should be. I have other work not covered under the warranty that I will be having them do as well. I placed a service request through my home warranty and this company SJDI ELECTRIC was the contractor. I had two switches that needed to be replaced. One switch was replaced with the other one, not because of some story that the switch and the bulb were not compatible. I have never heard that a light switch and bulb needed to be compatible in order to work properly. To make matters worse this contractor wanted to charge me more than my warranty to come out and change the switch that they did not change in the first visit. Now what does that sound like to you? A RIP-OFF. If you need some light switches done make sure the switch and bulb are compatible. Such a thing does not even exist, another electrician would properly laugh at you for asking a stupid question. Mind you my whole house has LED energy-saving bulbs. My review is more like 3.5 stars maybe really 3.33333 stars. So I had Home Warranty give me a choice of three contractors to use for a simple gfci outlet replacement. They said they would get with me in about two days. SJDI texted me immediately, to find out my availability, I texted back for a Monday morning appointment, the text made it appear they had plenty of spots available, but this wasn't the case. They said they could do a mid day; I texted them and said I needed a morning appointment due to work, and they replied they only had mid days. I then asked them to find a day and time in which I could do my appointment- I am pretty flexible, as long as it is in the morning. I waited one day, then two days and finally three days and five days since my initial request for service, I called them. And asked about my now five day later appointment. They said they would call me back. About two hours later, I received a text, instead of a call. Ok, not perfect, but ok. They made arrangements for the next day, sent me a pic of the tech. And was onsite in the small window in the morning. The tech was courteous and polite. It took me longer to turn the power on, then it did for him to replace the outlet, as I already had a spare. I thought it was odd that he did not have me sign a WO, so I wonder what the bill had on it and the warranty? read more
