Do not hire this company. They came to my home and recommended thousands of dollars worth of repairs to my chimney. I didn't believe what they were saying. I checked with another trusted source that has done work on my fireplace many times. They told me that they get inquiries like this almost every day from customers that chimney companies are trying to sell expensive metal sleeves for the inside of their chimneys. I was told that the sleeve makers train chimney companies how to sell their product. They suggested I call a company that they recommend. The owner came over and gave me a free inspection. His analysis was that there was absolutely nothing that has to be done. Have Vertical Chimney come out to your house at your own risk. Don't believe what they tell you without another opinion. Do NOT use Vertical Chimney. What should have been a simple job caulking the seam between the chimney and the house, turned into a disaster. Vertical Chimney got caulk all over our siding, brick, and front of our chimney (see pictures). They sent an unqualified technician to 'give him a chance' rather than someone who specializes in caulking. Jim Zajicek (owner) refused to take responsibility or offer a solution that fixes the damage they caused. Instead, he screamed at me over the phone. Vertical did an excellent job cleaning my chimney. I felt confident the fireplace was safe to use after their thorough inspection. They started the inspection with an internal view using their video camera technology which they shared with me so I could see the condition of the chimney. Then they climbed up to the roof and inspected it externally. The chimney sweep took photos from the roof that allowed me to see the state of some flashing work that had been done at the base of the chimney several years prior. Vertical also gave me a quote to convert my wood burning fireplace into a gas burning fireplace as I don't like the messiness of managing the wood and I want to be able to quickly turn off the fireplace when we are done using it. First time leaving a review on Yelp, but could not let this one go... We bought a new home, moved in, and called for a chimney cleaning. We were upsold on doing waterproofing ($800 for 2 chimneys; 1 full, 1 half) and a crown guard on one of them ($450). Paid in full, no problem. Got a receipt - service date was July 12, 2022. A year later I called for quotes for some other chimney work. A different company took the attached pictures and asked "Did you get someone to do a crown guard? You should call them back..." Check the pictures - you can see the Vertical Chimney guy simply didn't finish the job coating the entire crown, and the incomplete work was where we couldn't see without being on the roof. Based on the work on the crown guard, I have little confidence in the completeness of the waterproofing work either. It is hard for me to interpret any of this as other than dishonest. read more

Vertical came and cleaned out my chimney, but when I went to use it, the damper had broken off its hinges. I called and spoke to the manager. I told him that his employee must have put too much strain on the damper, but the house was old and so was the damper, so any cost to repair I would split 50/50. Vertical sent out the same person who cleaned in the first place. After confirming the damage, he started yelling at me saying that it was all my fault and that I did not know what I was talking about. Totally non-professional. When I told the manager, no apologies were forthcoming, and when they called on the cost the fix, they only offered 10% off the cost. DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM. They lied about cleaning my gutters and left a pile of brick and mortar in them. They didn't begin to take care of my property. They did a terrible job caulking the flashing. They left a clear gap in one of the bricks. They charged 500 dollars to replace 2 bricks. The mortar doesn't begin to match. I believe the bricks they supposedly replaced were just turned around as one of them is even cracked. They got their money and ran. STAY AWAY you have been warned. read more

Company was a complete 'no show' - very unprofessional. Set an appointment for a comprehensive chimney inspection. Was provided with a 4 hour arrival window. Received no advance call, so called them at the beginning of the window and they confirmed. I am extremely dissatisfied with this Feldco company and the way the quote and contract hid a cost that ballooned the total cost from $9,500 to well over $15,000! Why would a contract and quote be submitted and work completely done and then say "Oh, we still have to inspect the chimney with a camera and clean it." (And it wasn't cleaned.) That seems like it should have been done before a final quote, a contract, my deposit, and financing and this company finishing work. I'm now told I need an expensive steel fireplace liner and extensive repairs. Why now? Why a separate quote and contract?! That's exactly why I brought Vertical Chimney here! The crew did not complete the job they were hired to do (clean the exterior chimney brick) and we had to call them to return to finish the job. They said it would be 4 days before they could return. When they returned to finish the job, it still wasn't clean. We went out ourselves and applied a little elbow grease and pine sol and the dirt came off. We had Vertical's Chimney Technician, Jason Duda, come out to give us an estimate on re-lining our chimney and putting in a new set of gas logs. Jason was very knowledgeable and he gave us a few different options. The one option was a ventless gas log setup. The ventless system was half the price of new gas logs and getting a new liner installed. We went with the ventless system and Jason and his assistant Eric installed it this morning. I could not be any happier with the look of the fire and the amount of heat it generates. Jason and Eric are both great. They are both knowledgeable and very personable. They took the time to go over the operation of the unit and explained the warranty and suggested troubleshooting solutions if we have any issues. I am glad I went with the ventless option and very pleased with the service I received from Jason and Eric. I would highly recommend this company. read more

This was a great experience. Vertical inspected the chimneys in my house prior to purchase, gave me a quote which they stood by of repairs and then installed 4 gas logs. There has a been a shortage of the gas logs due to ongoing supply chain issues. When I called Krsytal explained which logs were available and how to get the most readily available options. She booked a time, Jason & Josh showed up as planned and installed the logs as quoted. The whole team is really honest, friendly, helpful and professional. We ordered our SunSetter from Vertical. Salesman was nice. We ordered a 20ft. motorized with wind wind sensor awning for $5630. He told us the hood cover wouldn't fit on our awning for the space available on the house. When the installers came out, they put a hood cover on it, which we didn't even realize they put it on. They came back later as they were installing an awning a couple blocks away and then realized the hood was for the other buyer. They had to take it off and install on the other. We said if it fit, we would like the hood and were told someone from Vertical would call us to order it. No one ever called. I called them two days later and talked with Nick. That's when he drops the bomb that he can order the hood and to install it would be $876.99. WHAT? I'm like the sales person told us it would be $500 when he was out at our house. Nick informed me there is no way that price was incorrect. After I tried talking to him, I offered to pay $600 for the hood and to install. (it took the installers 5 minutes to take it down) he said NO. I called SunSetter direct. They said I could buy one for $450.59 and it comes with instructions and anyone who is handy at all, can put it up. They offered technical support as well if we needed it. I ordered from Sunsetter, free shipping and the total with tax was $478.75. This is about half of the original price Nick quoted. I called Nick back and he told me we wouldn't be able to do it without removing the awning and we needed installers. I informed him that SunSetter said we could and they would assist over the phone if needed and that a video is available to watch as well. Then he says, well maybe it has to be removed if it's on the roof. Pressure sales tactics and NO Customer Service. It was their fault in the first place. They should have offered to order the hood and sell it to me at their cost and have the installers do it free. That would have avoided all this! Be Careful When purchasing ANYTHING from this Company. They seem to want the bucks and don't care about ripping off senior citizens. Go somewhere else for your SunSetter Awning. read more
