Wow. I completely echo the recent one-star reviews about the inability to get anybody at this…read morepharmacy on the phone. Some months ago it seemed they had made some improvements, and it was getting a little easier to get a human being on the phone at the pharmacy, but more recently things have really taken a nosedive. Calls to the pharmacy are now routed through a call center located who knows where, but since many issues can only be resolved at the pharmacy itself, the call center ends up transferring you to the local pharmacy you were trying to reach in the first place, wasting your time in the process. When you get transferred to the Otis Dr. pharmacy, they simply do not pick up the phone. You are put on hold and put back on hold infinitely until you give up or the system automatically hangs up on you. This is completely unacceptable. Zero respect for customers, their time and well-being, especially the infirm, elderly, and disabled who may not have the tenacity to keep trying to reach this unreachable pharmacy. Having no way to reach one's pharmacy over the phone is a health and safety issue that warrants a formal complaint with the appropriate government agencies. All because Walgreens corporate doesn't want to spend the money to staff appropriately. Shameful and inexcusable.

Walgreens - They've replaced the cash slot cards with this. The steady elimination of cash continues. SMH.

This review is specifically for the pharmacy department. I don't usually have a positive enough…read moreexperience with a pharmacy to actually be driven to write a review, but this one stood out to me. I had been looking to get Novavax for the newest version of the COVID vaccine and after calling numerous CVS locations near me, I found out from the automated phone system message that this CVS carried it. However, to be on the safe side, I called and left a voicemail (it takes a lot of time navigating the phone tree to get to that option and I could not find a way to have it connect me directly on the phone to the pharmacist). For my first voicemail, the pharmacist called back to let me know it wasn't in stock yet and they didn't know exactly when it'd arrive and that the automated system isn't always accurate. I decided to book a vaccine appointment further out and then called back again the day before my appointment to double check, and fortunately they did have Novavax in stock and the pharmacist told me to make sure that when I check in at the pharmacy counter, I ask to have Novavax specifically, or else by default they would use Pfizer. The pharmacist was also quite timely and generally called me back within an hour of me leaving a voicemail each time. When I got there 30 mins early for my appointment, the wait was short (it was a weekday afternoon) for the vaccine check-in line. I was pleasantly surprised that the pharmacist remembered me when I checked in and recalled that I had talked to them over the phone and that I wanted Novavax. No inappropriate questioning about whether/how I was immunocompromised which I've encountered at other CVS locations in the east bay. They had at least 4 chairs in the waiting area and I didn't find it too noisy or overstimulating, which is what I typically encounter at local CVS and Walgreens pharmacies that are high traffic. It was very quick and I just had to wait no more than 5 minutes to get my actual vaccination, which happened in one of the little cubicles/booths (has an open ceiling) that they have for vaccinations. A different pharmacist was the one who administered my vaccine but they were efficient and let me know I just needed to wait at the pharmacy for 15 minutes in case of adverse side effects and then I was free to go. Both the pharmacists I interacted with were wearing surgical masks which I appreciate given the current COVID surge. It was a very smooth experience getting vaccination here and I appreciate how the pharmacist was courteous and timely in returning my calls and remembered who I was since I imagine they talk to many different people. It was a good enough experience that I'd seriously consider coming here for any further vaccinations even though this isn't the closest CVS to where I live.

She walked calmly to the pharmacist who was filling her prescription and whispered "Can I really not use your restroom? It's an emergency. " After being told "We have no public restroom" this brave soldier attempted to run to her car and did not make it. As the blitzkrieg raged, she received a text from the pharmacy saying "Your prescription is ready." She henceforth shall be taking her business elsewhere. P.S. Shout out to Marianne for her patience and supportive help. And to another staff member who was there filling in today. Apologies for not getting her name. At this location you can also get your meds, even the hard to find ones as for whatever reason this location tends to have them. Aside from that, however, this location is not very good in general. Parking is almost always a nightmare. As it shares the same parking lot with farmer Joe's and another business at the end of the lot it's incredibly hard to find parking that's close to the front of the store when it's busy. Staff can also be rough. I think it typically depends on the mood or if they had to deal with rowdy customers, but more often than not you're going to run into someone that's ready to fight back in a verbal argument. The wait times to get your medication are also very overwhelming at times. In spite of this, I will give the CVS Pharmacy a 3/5. The reason I'm giving this a 3/5 is that I get it. I used to work in the area years back. I would occasionally end up coming to the store. I don't blame the staff entirely and the location itself can't be blamed for the parking situation.

The Rite Aid is a pretty good size for a pharmacy, no offense to the CVS down the street but this space is much larger, which includes a Thrifty's Ice Cream Counter, frozen section, beauty section, food/candy section, wine/liquor section and first aid, over the counter meds and vitamins. The staff are rude and clearly don't want to be there--they act annoyed when you ask for help and often ignore customers while standing around on their phones. Even worse, I don't feel safe shopping here. There's little to no security, and I've had uncomfortable run-ins with creepy men hanging around inside and outside the store. It's unsettling, especially when I'm alone. For a neighborhood pharmacy, that's completely unacceptable. The store is also poorly stocked. They're constantly out of basic items, and the selection is way worse than other Rite Aid locations. Even the ice cream--something Rite Aid used to be known for--is a letdown. The brand they carry now is grainy, has a weird texture, and literally feels like sand in your mouth. It's gross. This place needs a complete overhaul--better staff, better safety, and better products. Until then, I'll be going anywhere else.
