We knocked on the door at noon and talked with Garret, the chef, and asked if he could squeeze us in for dinner, the same night, he said 8:30 would be good and at 8:30 that night, we were seated and having dinner ! The food was stellar, we had fish and lamb, with the wine pairing, Sara, our server, was very attentive and explained the courses in exquisite detail, the ambiance was intimate and old world France - highly recommend this place and would not hesitate to come here again - Mike and Jan, Montana

Where do I even start with this meal? I wanted to have a big fancy, but not too crazy expensive meal while I was in Paris. After much research, I decided to go with Verjus, and I am SO glad i did! Making a reservation was easy-peasy. Just went on their website and booked through there. I had no issue getting a table even with the date I selected only two weeks away. Finding the restaurant was a tad tricky. It is tucked away through an iron gate and we walked right past it. But once we found it, we were quickly welcomed inside and seated in the cozy restaurant. Verjus does a set tasting menu(78 euro, and additional 55 euro for wine pairing)...everything is chef-selected, so you can't pick and choose what you want. And every single dish was just perfect. I opted to do the wine pairing. The wine portions were generous and came out with every set of dishes they brought. So by glass #3 I was more than a little cheery and thankful I had my friend there to help me finish the next two glasses! I included a picture of the menu and pictures of all the dishes. And I'm just not sure I have the words to say just how delightful everything was. The egg yolk dish was such a surprise and absolutely delicious. The smoky carrot dish, the savory mushroom "french toast" dish, the chicken dish, and the fig/goat cheese cheesecake were all just phenomenal. It was an outstanding meal and well worth the price. I left feeling plenty full and wishing I could have just bottled up that whole food experience so I could relive it, lol. I couldn't recommend this place enough. If you find yourself in Paris, treat yourself (and your loved ones) to the meal of a lifetime!

We arrived in Paris on Black Friday, having missed the traditional American thanksgiving dinner. Never fear, Verjus had both a holiday tasting menu AND a 10pm reservation available. This charming restaurant is a bit dress up (nice jeans and a sport coat ok) and is located in a private passage near Palais Royal. I believe that dinner is ONLY prix-fixe at €75/pp (wine not included). We started with 4 amuses - the poached eggs and chickpea fritter "tacos" were my favorites. After, a perfectly cooked scallop with watercress and bone marrow. I do not like scallops and this fish was my FAVORITE so that tells you a lot!! Next was roasted cauliflower, and a basket of very creative breads and crackers - all made in house. Finally - traditional roasted turkey with the creamiest mashed potatoes, stuffing and succulent Brussels sprouts. It's everything an American wants for thanksgiving and it was delicious! Of course, dessert was the lightest, tastiest pumpkin pie (another thing I generally do not like but LOVED here) followed by a rather savoury sunchoke macaron. The menu will change if you go but I'm confident everything will be delicious - seriously, everything I had was great. The staff was wonderful, the interior is romantic and it's a really good stop for that "special dinner".

It is as good as it gets. Or maybe because I'm in Paris? Seriously, the tasting menu is innovative, delicious pleasing to the eye and totally worth every penny. There was the egg custard creation done by Michelin Chefs, some really delicious Amuse, the seafood soup poured tableside, a wonderful beef course. a pork (?) course with some kind of barbecue sauce (?), but it actually worked. A couple of more veggie courses then a battery of desserts, one of which is served inside a corn husk. Awesome. Wine pairings are generous and really enhanced the meal.

Not only was this meal incredibly delicious, but incredibly fun. Our server was ebullient, super excited to share each wine and course with us. We frequently got extra pours if we seemed to be really enjoying a wine, if we had finished it before finishing our course, or just because. At the end of the meal we were greeted with yet another pour of our favorite glass from the tasting. The setting is eclectic and a bit whimsical while still refined and elegant, and the floor to ceiling windows immerse you in the street below. The menu is set aside from any dietary accommodations that they'll happily make for you. While everything hit the mark, I had three bites that were otherworldly - a chickpea taco shell filled with creme fraiche and fresh herbs, porcini mushroom french toast (favorite bite of the night, maybe favorite bite in a long time), and the goat cheese cheesecake. Highly, highly recommend!!

A beautiful fine dining experience in a quaint neighborhood in Paris. The tasting menu is delicate, fresh, with unexpected flavors. My favorites were the tomato/lobster/truffle and the beets(?) on the skewer. The waiters were kind and attentive. Great value for an under 100€/pp menu!

Really solid restaurant, but ungraceful handling of substitutions for non-booze-swilling omnivores. To be frank, the standard prix fixe menu is excellent, if a bit overwhelming. Standouts from our mid-September 2018 meal included the egg custard served in the shell, lightly pickled mussels with raspberry, and beef marrow served over creamed hominy. Would be mistake to forget to mention the top notch house sourdough bread; the only regret is that eating too much bread may ruin the appetite. On this night, guests were more English-speaking than not, allowing some insight into Verjus' handling of Americans' dietary peculiarities. Though preferences were stated much earlier via the reservation, the accommodations left much to be desired and represented questionable decisions leading to substantial drops in taste and value. For an eggplant with caviar dish, a pregnant diner's dish simply omitted the caviar. Yup, just eggplant. In lieu of a marrow bone, a vegetarian was served *croutons* In lieu of beef tartare, the vegetarian was served octopus (this was a reasonable swap). For a watermelon slushie topped with Campari liqueur, the pregnant woman was informed that the alcohol was only poured on the top, and that the bottom was okay. Wrong. Based on experience at competitor Septime, this does not have to be the case, as thoughtful substitutions can lead to different but not so obviously inferior interpretations of the same dish. Not so at Verjus.

A lot of the dishes were amazing and Verjus was a very solid overall contemporary tasting menu dining experience. Something about the experience, however, didn't blow my mind - maybe it was that even though each of the dishes were a lot better than I have ever expected from a pumpkin and salad, but it was still pumpkin - not something I'm obsessed with. But on a first visit to Paris and for someone who doesn't have a very big budget upon graduating college, Verjus is perfect for the prix fixe meal at 68 euros. There is also an option to add a wine pairing for each part of the prix fixe meal for 55 euros more, but we chose to just order glasses of wine instead. After the meal, my boyfriend and I asked each other: what was your favorite dish? The list for each of us was just about everything we ate that night. Some dishes to call out for this review though: - Aged beef mixed with a little bit of bone marrow: this was served on a bone and was so good, but the portion was half a bite and I guess I was a little disappointed not to be tasting the actual bone marrow French style - but nothing a bone marrow appetizer at another meal can't fix. - Pumpkin and mussels with lobster sauce: the flavor profile is heaven. It's rich and tasty. The portion size is small, yes, but this makes the dish not reach the overwhelming point. The pumpkin is grilled and very soft. The mussels were perfectly cooked. There was also a little orange, citrus-y dollop on the side and it was a perfect palate cleanser. - Woo the foie gras was perfect here! Good portion - all you need and melted in my mouth. I wasn't a fan of the lentil that it sat on top of, a little too much flavor in my opinion. - We got a surprise little cone with a citrus-y flavored sorbet kinda thing and it was a pleasant intro to the dessert. I would buy a whole tub of this if I could! - Dessert was a pear dish and a lemon cake, but the star is the lemon cake. It was a warm cake, had a refreshing lemon flavor, not too sweet, the cake was not so thick that I couldn't swallow more - it was definitely a star dessert. I think the menu changes so I would potentially be back the next time I'm in Paris! It seems that around us, a lot of people were from the States as well. I did also notice that for the shared dishes and not the individual dishes, parties of three got the same portion as parties of two (lucky me my party was two). While the dishes were all very small, I was very full by the end and wanted to eat more cake, but literally could not any more. We probably spent at least a solid two hours here as everything was made as the meal progressed.

A lobster and shrimp salad with peaches, a creamy/olive oil sauce with peaches. Literally the best thing I ate in Paris

This place is INCREDIBLE!!! Off many suggestions from friends in NYC, my husband and I went with another friend who was traveling through. It's teeny tiny inside, but oh so cute. It's a tasting menu and for what you get, it's a steal. What I liked most was that the hostess/server was kind enough to ask not only if we had dietary restrictions but if there is something we saw on the menu that we don't like or don't want. Typically, tasting menus aren't that generous. Everything we were served was fantastic. I even tried and liked things that I was unsure of. All of the food was so well prepared and fresh. Amazing!!! I did notice that there seemed to be a ton of Americans in the restaurant, so I guess news travels fast.

Spent our last dinner in Paris at Verjus. It was a prix fixe meal with various appetizers, mains, and 2 desserts. We were definitely stuffed at the end - decent value especially for a place with such a nice ambiance. I had high expectations for this place based on other reviews and recommendations from friends, but there were a few misses for me. The appetizers were delish, but they were cold. The tart was good, but would have been even better fresh and warm. My fave appetizer was the egg custard in the eggshell. The bread and butter was a regular filler dish - was hoping for some amazing butter being that we're in Paris. We had a scallop dish, was kinda flavorless. For mains, we had a squash with a lobster bisque (so good!) and a celery root with hazelnut tart (eh for me). The foie gras started out with a great texture and taste, but had a weird aftertaste to me. For dessert we had the ice cream, a bundt cake, and lil sorbets (all yummy). Service was good. They cater to tourists, which is nice if you don't speak french/speak English and don't want to worry about a language barrier. They preface every dinner start with "do you prefer English or French?". Glad that I went, but wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Some highlights: The amuse bouche course was incredible end-to-end, but what really stood out for me was a blue masa shell holding mussel, sauce, and microgreens/herbs/flowers. The mix of the different herbs, the savory salinity of the mussel, and the sauces was wonderfully complex, yet also harmonious. The poached sea trout with pumpkin and horseradish ice cream was very satisfying. The mix of poached trout and horseradish cream was very familiar, yet the twist of making the horseradish a wholly different temperature and texture was really surprising and innovative. The monkfish in adobo was another extraordinary dish. I have only had monkfish liver before, but the way they were able to perfectly cook the monkfish gave it a texture and flavor reminiscent of lobster. With the spice of the adobo, it was a really well balanced dish. Additionally, all of the wines that we tried were also notable and delicious. We decided to each order a glass of sparkling wine and a few small plates to share. The wine list was long while the food menu was quite short, but everything we ordered was delicious. Each dish provided a twist on classic appetizers - the gnocchi was served with an inventive "white cheddar foam," and the maple bacon biscuits struck the perfect balance of sweet and salty. We ended up lingering over our wine and enjoying the cozy ambiance longer than expected - a perfect way to spend a summer evening in Paris.

He chose it because of the reviews and also the fact that the seating area layout seemed to provide more space between tables than is sometimes the case. When we entered, a server directed us to the host station by the bar. My husband had printed out his email with the address & the reservation, and he had made some notes on it about things to consider on the menu. We were seated at a nice window table A woman did come right away to ask about sparkling or still water. Wines are by the glass--no bottles were listed that we saw. The server just stood over us for several minutes while we were looking at the menu, which was a little uncomfortable. So my husband explained we would need a few minutes. She seemed offended. Then the male host came over and insisted on seeing the paper my husband had with the email. He took it out of my husband's hand and started trying to read my husband's notes. I asked if there was a problem with the reservation--had they found it? The man said something about wanting to know if it was prepaid (do they do gift certificates in Paris? We had no idea what he meant). I said no, it was not, so he left again. The menu is prix fixe. A different server came to take our order. She was more upbeat and jovial. The amuse bouche was a pickled herring. I ordered the pumpkin veloute soup, which was yummy. Then I had the vegetarian plate, which was fine but not memorable: squash, mushrooms, and an egg on top. My husband ordered the sausage plate. At the end, I requested the check (l'addition"). The server asked twice if we wanted to add a tip to put on the card. I have not had that happen before in Paris, where the tipping conventions are different, and a 15% service charge is included in the prices by law. I asked if it was not included ("compris") and she said no, it was not. I did leave a cash tip. But all in all, some of those awkward moments with the staff detracted from the experience.
