Every single thing about our meal here was perfect. The ambience (dimly candle-lit, seating on benches with cute pillows, even the lanterns were charming), the food (I can't even), and the incredible service (our waitstaff, the sommelier, the chef even came to visit the table more than once). I almost can't pick stand-out dishes, because EVERYTHING was stand-out. The presentation was completely different, creative, and stunning for each dish. Some examples: _Roasted pumpkin bites and pumpkin seeds, served inside a cute little pumpkin _A rainbow of blanched, fresh vegetables that were almost too pretty to eat, served with a tasty bean dip _The whole duck, atop charred embers, which was brought out for our inspection prior to carving _The mini caramel ice-cream cones, as a dessert appetizer _The poached pear dessert ... I can't even begin to describe how beautiful (and tasty) this was And still, the other dishes we had were worth mentioning: some of my favorite bites were garlic and clam toasts, and the fresh, al dente pasta with lobster meat. I did not know it was a tasting menu when I booked it, but that was great because it took all the pressure off of ordering. The place is small, intimate and excellent. The wine matched each course perfectly and like everywhere in Paris, there is no rush to finish. The hostesses took great care to explain each course and each wine and that made my wife and I feel ridge at home. There was a group of fellow Americans there who were about as loud as Americans are used to back home and somehow, it all blended. This was a last minute booking and I am so happy I did it. This was exactly the quaint Parisienne experience I had anticipated and more. We enjoyed the taster menu with accompanying wine. It was during the course of Squid with beautiful gnocchi that I had the most amazing wine I have ever tasted. So much so that after our meal we ventured down to the wine bar below and enjoyed another glass (picture included) it haunts me a bit that I didn't insist on buying a couple of bottles from the lovely expat owner. The food was beautiful and light, with a lovely reminder of what we were about to eat as each course was served. A lovely touch was that they remembered it was my boyfriend's birthday meal which I had mentioned in passing months before in an email - his heavenly dessert was served with a little candle and even better, minimal embarrassing fuss! One of the favorite restaurant in Paris! It was my first time trying Verjus by friend's recommendation. They have tasting menu about 78 euro and i believe 55 euro for wine paring. I do not quite remember exact pricing but it was very affordable. I heard chef is American because of that all the staff speak English fluently. I would like to compliment that since Paris is not tourist friendly country. Food is magnificent. I have to say it is not classic French but I think chef made it very easy to approach to people who have not try french or dislike. My boyfriend have not try French but he really enjoyed every dish. I want to add that restaurant do have alternatives for vegetarian as well. When I visit Paris again, I really do want to go back again! read more

My wife and I visited Verjus on 21 October 2014. We had discovered it on TA, Yelp, and in Lonely Planet. Made a reservation about 2 months prior (you'll definitely need one!) for an 8 PM dining time. The wait staff spoke fluent English (for some it seemed like it was a first language, even) and were warm and engaging. The only choices you'll get are whether or not you'll have the additional dishes or do a wine pairing. Do yourself a favor and get the pairing. For ~$50, you'll get five amazing wines that pair perfectly with your meal. From the sea bass ceviche all the way to the salted lemon cake, you can FEEL the passion behind the food you're eating. As soon as I would finish a plate, I would find myself wanting just one more bite. That is the mark of a culinary artist. The duck breast may have been one of my favorite plates from our week in Paris, and the venison tartare was crafted such that the meat's natural gaminess was tamed by the sweetness of the apples and sweet onions. I could go on, but it really is something to experience firsthand if you find yourself in Paris. It's the perfect venue for a romantic night out in the City of Light, and the friendliness of the staff and passion of the kitchen make it an absolute MUST if you're a foodie! read more

We came for dinner and had a great time. Actually, we were not hungry for our first reservation and asked to share the set menu. When we were told sharing wasn't an option, we asked to change it to another day which they were kind to do so. Many of the dishes were tasty, and I was so appreciative of the English menu which made it easy to tell what we were having. Both appetizers-- a chilled melon soup and tomato tart-- were great. The tomato tart consisted of fresh tomatoes in a variety of colors that was so appetizing to eat. The mains were a trout and pork. Our funnel cake dessert was quite tasty. Overall I was disappointed in the food flavors but the dining experience in terms of the historic location, attentive English speaking) wait staff and lovely food presentation was good. I might return in a few years to see how the chefs have matured, but would I go by next month? Not likely. I know these chefs have a modern take on French food so maybe I missed something. But if something doesn't taste good it just doesn't. I did love the concept of having three tapas like dishes served to start. Then we had 5 other set (part of a fixed price menu) courses not including bread and butter. Your meal will likely be different than this one but here is what we ate. An asparagus spear in a mayo dip, meh. I did love the tiny trout bite on smoked hay. The salted butter and crunchy bread (yum!) were both made in house, SO GOOD, I fantasized about butter churning as I licked my fingers, I so appreciated all the work that went into both. The Aged Comte cheese fritter was lovely and was presented beautifully. Likely my fav of the night. The salad had a clean taste but was very simple, Pretty elder flowers on top. We both LOVED the beef and jus though I could not eat the carrot purée due to its over salting. There was a Fava bean dish with raw cream and egg yolk and spring onions which was nearly inedible to me. It was tasteless with a poor texture and concept, I could not finish it. The primary taste was the bite of tiny raw onions that remained in my mouth all night that I found gross. They buried the potato and peas in too much in a yummy cheese foam (poor presentation), the potatoes were underdone so I could not finish it. I'm not sure if they were meant to be that way or not. The strawberry sorbet and rhubarb dessert was beautiful to photograph though way too sweet overall. I wish there was some type of pastry offered for dessert or as part of instead of "dehydrated" cake bites. I appreciated all the work that went into this dinner. However, in this price range (~70pp), we expected a more close to perfect experience as we had at a few other restaurants in Paris. read more

The best meal we have had in a long while! 78 euro for (technically) 6 courses but really was more like 12+. The first course itself comprised of multiple little bites that were each phenomenal. This was a very well done tasting that was both thoughtful and delicious, surpassing many that we have had in NYC and beyond, particularly at this price point. The wine pairings were also excellent and we loved every pour. And to put the cherry on top, the service was very nice, but definitely not pushy. This was our much anticipated experience at Verjus, so to say we were excited was an understatement. My son had marked this restaurant down to try, as he's an aspiring chef in LA, his wish was to get an idea of quality & flavor of french style cuisine. We arrived promptly on time and were warmly greeted, then seated immediately. The place was quite charming and softly lit. They were fully booked (9:30pm) and the place seemed to be upbeat and comfortable. We were given our menus to review the tasting menu. We also chose the wine pairing as well. As each course arrived, we were explained the ingredients and preparation for each course, except for one, when there was a bit of confusion with the wait staff. There was a kinda let down for a couple of the courses, which we explained to our server. First, there was our first course, a celery top fondue. The sauce for the dip was very bland and the celery that you're to dip, there wasn't enough. There was ample creamy sauce left, but no celery. The balance of the starters were nice, however nothing extraordinary or exemplary. Just nicely plated and evenly tasting. It was our main course that truly disappointed. The main was called, 'endives, canard, orange sanguine' which we were so excited to taste. The accompanying photos are what we served. We decided that even though the playing was rather blah, we would give it all a try and make a fair judgement or review of this dish. The flavor matched the look of the plating and we were left very unsatisfied. It was such a let down, though the dessert and other dishes, as well as the wine pairing, as I stated were fine. In fact the dessert course was quite good (also pictured). The saving grace was the service, which was very friendly and on point. In closing, let me say that I would definitely give it another try. My thinking is that they may have had an off day, food wise and because the service was so friendly and helpful, another try would be worth the risk. However, with so many options available in Paris , this may not happen, as another wasted chance to try something spectacular may not be worth the risk. read more

Verjus was an amazing experience. The restaurant itself is a quaint little spot and is owned by two Americans. Know that when you go here you are required to get the tasting menu, which is 68 euros a person. You can add the wine pairings for 55 euros a person. I recommend this restaurant to those with a diverse palate, or for those willing to try new and exotic dishes. Everything is prepared beautifully and tastes exquisite. The one reason why I did not give this restaurant 5 stars is because I wish there were less vegetable dishes and more meat dishes. The only meat dish was the squab (pigeon). This place is part of the trend in Paris that has been going on for several years to serve fantastic and unfussy food in a sophisticated but unfussy surrounding. And it's also a trend of American foodies opening fantastic restaurants that combine the best of French tradition with American shake-it-up-ness. Our friends who live in Paris brought us here, after visiting here themselves and it brought back all of the great memories of the Paris food scene from when I lived here. One of the highlights was going downstairs to the wine bar to meet one of the owners. She told us a lot about what it's like to operate a restaurant and it is clear that she and the rest of the staff work very hard and put a lot of effort in pride into the amazing dishes they serve. Oh, be sure you book in advance. Gluten free notes: Most French food is naturally gluten free, and the snazzier it is, the more likely that is to be true. You will have tons of options here, and the staff was happy to give advice about what is or isn't gluten free. But no baguette for you, of course. read more

One of the loveliest meals I've had in the last 5 years. While researching supper clubs in Paris, we stumbled across Verjus--a new restaurant from the couple behind The Hidden Kitchen dinners. After a few pleasant emails back and forth with the restaurant we had a reservation for 5 people lined up. The dining space is visually pared down, as it should be, given that the huge picture windows overlook the ornate facade of The Palais Royale. We went with the seven course tasting menu, each dish was thoughtfully prepared and well presented. I especially enjoyed the duck breast (so thinly sliced and tender!) and the garden chili gazpacho. Our forks scraped every last bit of food off our plates after each course. Of the desserts, we loved the apricots from Provence which had arrived from the South of France that morning, natch. The apricots were simply served with sorbet and the most delicious granola that I would eat by the poundful were it available in the US. The chef came by our table as we finished and we commented how refreshing it was to see him hard at work in the kitchen after several disappointing meals that week where one celebrity chef after another smoked a cigarette leaning against a vespa on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant rather than getting his hands dirty preparing food. We then wandered downstairs and enjoyed a glass of wine and chatted with the chef's wife who mans the bar. I am recommending Verjus to everyone I know with a trip to Paris on the books. I can only hope by the time I visit Paris again there won't be a six month wait for a table! read more

I've been to both the wine bar and the restaurant several times, and I've always left feeling extremely optimistic about the future of American cuisine. It's pretty ballsy for anyone to open an American restaurant in the heart of Paris, a couple blocks from the Louvre and across the street from the Palais Royale, especially when the cooking is at this level. It's fantastic for us expats who have a certain level of nostalgia for the (admittedly, elevated) small plates like fried chicken and shoestring fries that they serve in the bar (€4-€8). The wines, by the glass (€5-€9, €12 for champagne) or by the bottle, are well-curated. There are even a few non-French bottles on the list, a rarity here. This is the only place I've been able to find in the city that has a Grüner. But if you're a visitor, don't let its label of "American" label put you off. While the attitude is definitely American, the technique and the produce are definitely French. The tasting menus I've had at the restaurant are the best meals I've had in Paris, hands-down. Chef Braden is doing some incredible things with flavor and texture pairings. It's just straight-up, really good food. Access notes: for the wine bar, the earlier you arrive, the less crowded it is likely to be. I've been there when it was standing room only, and other nights when it was just our party and everyone could relax on one of their high bar stools. Usually, unless there's some kind of private party, it's completely manageable. I've met a lot of cool people while hanging out here. The restaurant is prix-fixe, currently €60 for a seven-course meal (with an optional €14 cheese course), not including wine pairings. I'm a lightweight, so I usually split the wine pairing with whomever I'm dining with, and they're fine with that. And, lastly, I couldn't review this place without commenting on the owners. Laura runs the bar downstairs and Braden is the chef, and they're both just the sweetest people you'll ever meet. I had pre-birthday day drinks at the bar and planned to have the tasting menu at the restaurant the following night and, seeing that the menu was kind of simliar to what I had had the last time I came, the kitchen created a completely different menu just for me. DO NOT GO HERE!! This is the worst restaurant in Paris!! Service = TERRIBLE FOOD = DISGUSTING Price = NOT WORTH IT I had high hopes for Verjus when I read the reviews but this place failed in more ways than one. The service started off terribly. After being seated, we were ignored for almost 20 minutes even after asking the curly brown haired waitress if we could have menus. She said OK and proceeded to ignore us. It wasn't until gentleman waiter asked her if we were being served that they got into an argument that he had our table and he finally came to our table. What type of waitstaff ignores you after you ask for help? The Verjus waitstaff. It not only happened to us but multiple tables. A few other things happen but this was a really bad way to start service. The other, more important thing about going to Verjus is that the food is terrible. There is nothing great about the food at all. It was tasteless, not filling, and simply disgusting. - A bowl of melted cheese with two small pieces of celery to dip in - A half cooked sliced potato with a sauce that has too much oil - A bread and butter dish with butter that taste like expired milk - A "meat" dish with slices of sausage and uncooked bacon If you want to pay 77 euors + 55 euros for the wine pairings to be disappointed and leave wishing you never came, then this is the place for you. I am not only sad disappointed for myself but for just about everyone else in this restaurant who didn't finish their dishes and looked around wondering "is this really it? this is what we came for? this is what we're paying for?" Honestly, this place would get 2 stars if it was decent, 3 if it was as good as a normal diner with hamburgers, but it was really bad and the service was just as bad. I'm sorry but the Chef needs to revamp the menu and not rip off his customers but providing such terrible food filled with cheap vegetables, small portions and no meats. You will leave hungry. You will leave disappointed. You will leave wishing you didn't waste your night at Verjus. If you do come, I hope your experience is better than mine. The 1 star reviews for this restaurant are more realistic and honest than the 4 and 5 star reviews based on my own experience at this restaurant. My final recommendation: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Verjus I visited Verjus for the first time in April 2014. I have travelled extensively in France for 20 years, enjoying all manner of local, regional, and seasonal fare in restaurants modest and grand. I am a true believer in the French approach to cuisine, be it a mom-and-pop seafood joint on the coast or haut cuisine in Paris or Lyon. But if I had to recommend a must-do restaurant to the first-time (or seasoned) traveler to Paris, it would be Vergus. Why? Simply because this restaurant represents a very happy distillation of the ideals of haut cuisine without a sliver or pretense. The restaurant itself is small and unpretentious, the menu is aways a prix fixe menu degustation, which simply means that everybody in the restaurant is partaking of the same 7 or 8 courses that the chef has selected for the day. While in most gastrominque restaurants, such a menu would require four hours and 120€ at least, but at Verjus it's a modest two hours and 60€ per person. I would recommend going for the wine pairings for an additional 40€ per person because you get the benefit of experiencing six new wines matched to the course for the price of a decent bottle of Bourgogne. A lot of travelers will recoil at the prix fixe concept, preferring the option of choosing items they might be familiar with from a menu with lots of choices. If that's your preference, this restaurant isn't for you. But in my experience, some of my most other-worldly dining experiences have been when I've been at the mercy of the chef. Some discoveries I haven't warmed up to - escargots, grenouille for example--but others have become perennial favorites: moules and lotte in any incarnation, duck confit, all manner of velouté, for example. My recent experience at Verjus started with a slice of marinated raw trout augmented with wild fennel and sweet unions and trout roe. If I saw this on a menu I probably wouldn't order it, but it was divine. Not a large portion, but exquisitely satisfying. This was followed by a small pasta dish (cappaletti) with asparagus with frisée and grilled nuts. Fabulous. Next came four clams from Mont St. Michel with morille mushrooms (why are these unavailable in the US?) in a luscious bullion. Getting into the "main" courses, there was the most memorable magret de canard, with a little bit of red cabbage, a tiny presence of fresh orange, and smoked celery. Now a lot of people wouldn't order duck from the menu, but this was enormously satisfying, rich without being gamey, and I appreciated the "fresh" nod to duck à l'orange" made famous several generations ago at places like Tour d'Argent. Then came the house-made lamb sausage. Again, a lot of people stick solely to beef and fear that lamb is too rustic, but in this incarnation the flavors of the sausage were moderated by the roasted garlic polenta slices with mushrooms and salsify. The cheese plate is optional, at an extra 7€ per person, and some people don't get the French love of cheese to finish a meal. And in some restaurants, it's too big of a deal so late in the meal. But here, it's a brief seasonal selection of regional cheeses, and again this is a chance to discover new delights. I am now looking for a local source of Ossau-Iraty, a cheese I'd never heard of. Dinner is finished with two "desserts", one a granité des pommes with panna cotta, and the other a dense vanilla ice cream with a tiny chocolate cake. Now it might sound like too much food, but it's not. Here, the emphasis in on small, superbly presented portions, each offered with a brief explanation, but then, unlike restaurants grastonomique, there is not a 20-minute wait for the next course. It's not rushed, but it's not drawn out, either. Just right. For two people, with wine pairings and the cheese plate, it comes to 214€. This is a true bargain. You can get the same quality at a Paul Robuchon or Guy Savoy restaurant, but you will pay a lot more and spend a lot more time inspecting the environs. No, Vergus is the perfect introduction to modern French haut cuisine, without the baggage of the past. The décor is casual, but the food is serious. When I was there, there were two seatings, one at 7:30 and one at 9:30; nothing in between. But once you accept the concept of the restaurant, that makes perfect sense. read more

It's hard not to be immediately charmed from the moment you enter the small and intimate room that is the main dining space. The warm and welcoming service maintains the sense of home and comfort, and the dishes that are served similarly surprise and delight without pretence or frills - but simply with perfect execution and flavours. There was no flat note amongst the 5 dishes + multiple amuse bouche dishes that we were served that night. Fresh milk cheese danced playfully with watercress and melon, while tuna and capers and new potatoes... The cappelletti and chanterrelles infused a flavour bomb, but the richness and freshness of the sirloin tartare was uncomparable. But of course, to make sure the entire meal left a lasting impression, they closed impressively with a dessesrt of blood peaches, blackberries, oats, and white chocolate. This was a most impressive combination of flavours and textures, and one I continue to relive night after night for the following week. Unbelievable. You will not be disappointed. The financiers to end the meal were amazing, and the lamb meatball was incredible. The best was the egg in the amuse bouche, and the burrata with strawberries with some delicious focaccia. We had a seven course tasting menu and skipped the cheese. All of the dishes were excellent but particularly the clam soup. For the experience I thought it was very reasonably priced €180 for seven courses for two, cocktails and a bottle of wine. Will definitely be back next time we are in Paris. read more

My bride and I agree; This is the best meal either of us has eaten. Yep, it's that great. We pride ourselves as food lovers and this was absolutely incredible. I highly recommend reservations because this is no hole in the wall and people know all about it. It's a favorite among visitors as well as locals. We started with a glass of wine in the cave below. It's an excellent environment and the wine selection was fantastic. Now, the best part... the multi-course meal with wine pairing! Holy smokes. This was incredible. The service, the food, the wine... amazing. Do yourself a favor and go. We had been to Joel Robuchon's L'Atelier Etoile and I don't care about Michelin starts. This was twice as good and nearly half the price. If we go back to Paris, and were to have to pick to return to only 1 place, this is it. read more

The food at Verjus is lovely. The dishes have high quality ingredients, well thought out flavor pairings and are expertly executed. Unfortunately, an issue with the service spoiled our meal and colored our overall experience. All of the dishes came out perfectly timed until we had finished our first meat course. After this our table was completely ignored for at least 25 minutes. There was no inquiry about whether we wanted more wine, no hint of when our next dish would appear, nothing. Suddenly, our table had become invisible. We politely asked about the next course, but the originally friendly staff treated us like we killed their cat. At the end of the meal, there was no thank you or goodbye from the staff, just a chill in the air. We found the whole situation incredibly strange. The food was good and the location is close to our home, but we have no plans to return. read more

I had the opportunity to dine at Verjus during my stay in Paris about a week ago and I am so glad we did. It exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Let's just say... It will always be one of those experiences and places we will talk about when asked about our trip to Paris. Food-"want to lick your dish good". We had a tasting menu of 7 courses with wine pairing. Started with a glass of champagne then in with the courses. Every dish was like the perfect bite. And every bite left you wanting more. The wine pairing was also delicious. I'm not a wine expert but there wasn't a wine we didn't like. Ambience- intimate, close It felt like we were in A small tiny restaurant the size of my living room, located off the beaten path. But it had a versatile ambience- it wouldn't feel strange if you were there with friends or a romantic dinner. It just felt comfortable even for foreigners like myself and my husband. Service- fabulous! The servers were beyond polite and spoke enough English to explain each dish and wine pairing. They were both so friendly! Price- on the higher side but worth every penny. Dining at a nice restaurant is not only about the food but about the experience. I would definitely go back to this place the next time we are in Paris. There are options to get wine pairings, but we opted to get a couple bottles instead. I think wine pairings might be less economical than getting your own bottles. I've eaten at Verjus twice, and it has to be my favourite place (as of now) in Paris. Each course has a vegetarian option, which is great for veggies but also people who might be picky about some cuts of meat (my parents were apprehensive about a sweetbread course the first time we ate there, but decided to try it and they both loved it). The tiny appetizers at the beginning are amazing, and each course I've had has been delicious, especially a dessert last summer with strawberries, honeycomb, and elderflower. The service is also amazing- we came for the second time in November 2015, and the sommelier actually remembered us and the table we had been at the first time we came in almost 6 months earlier! read more

The selections were unique, and overall every dish was wonderful. The servers were both congenial and the restaurant readily accommodates English-only speakers. We had read about Verjus from their review in Saveur. Our experience was quite special. We chose the seven course Chef's dinner with wine pairing and loved each and every course. The room is understated and beautiful. The menu changes quite frequently based on fresh ingredients. We liked it so much that we returned four days later. Since the Chef was preparing the same menu (I wouldn't mind), he prepared several dishes just for us. If he is making pork belly, it is not to be missed. The restaurant may not be for everyone, as the only choices you have is between the five or seven course dinner, wine pairing or not and which of the two desserts you want. Special mention must be made of their bar downstairs. What a great space with solid selections. Where else are you going to find Pappy Van Winkle bourbon? They offer a bar menu with many of the great items from their restaurant upstairs. read more

Prior to our trip here, one of our friends gave us a ravishing review of this restaurant. We decided to book months ahead of time for a reservation for four. Upon arrival, the restaurant was located in an eccentric building and was quite hard to find. You have to ring a bell and walk through a small alleyway to find it..it adds to the suspense! Finally, when you walk into the restaurant you'll find it very homey, warm and romantic. The servers all speak perfect english and their all very kind and clear towards the meal you're about to get. Two of us did the wine pairing while the other ordered wine a la carte. Now on to the best part, the food..all of the meals were exquisite, some were far better than others but each one was exquisite and quite interesting. The chef makes sure to take you on a culinary experience. One of the most delicious things I've had was a crepe made out of chickpeas. Oh boy was this mouthwatering! There was also a wine that was only made for the restaurant and this had to be one of the best red wine I've had my entire life, it's a shame that it's exclusive to the restaurant. The desserts were just okay but maybe I came on an off day. For the price of this six course tasting, I would do it all over again. A bargain for what you're receiving. read more

We didn't have much time to research restaurants before spending a week in Paris at the end of May but managed to get a reservation at Verjus on short notice. After some difficulty finding the place we found the bar downstairs first. Our reservations were for the restaurant upstairs. We ordered both menus and we're pleasantly surprised with each course the chef/owner would come out explain each dish. Very unexpected. I won't go into detail about each course but I will say my experience here was a wonderful surprise. Meticulously prepared without the uptight pretense. They've found a nice balance between fine dining and casual. We had such a wonderful experience that we returned the next night and sat at the bar. read more

The meal was delicious. Waitress had little knowledge on the wine menu. When asked for a recommendation, she gave us a brainless response. When she saw our reaction, she said she would send the male waiter over. We waited a long time for our bill. The place was insanely busy & it looked like they were short staffed. Still, no "thank you" by the hostess upon departure when given our jackets. Quiet arrogant waiting staff all round. Plenty of good places in Paris with delicious food & better attitudes. read more

Before I get into this review, I just wanted to say that I did have semi-high expectations after reading several reviews and blogs before visiting. That said, my husband and I had some un-met expectations when we decided to come here for New Year's Eve dinner. We decided on Verjus because their menu seemed reasonably priced (200 euro pp) compared to the menus offered at the michelin restaurants (500-800+ euros pp) and was well reviewed. Though in hindsight, this was our first time dining out in Paris for New Year's Eve. All other times we dined and visited Paris were during the summers or other non-holiday times of the year. (Future note to self and others, is to plan to do a low key or unconventional New Years dinner if in Paris!) Again, perhaps the regular dinner here is very different but for New Year's Eve dinner -- we were a little underwhelmed. Upon arriving to Verjus, the atmosphere was definitely charming and quaint given the restaurant is located in a small passage way adjacent to the Palais Royale. And as you enter the restaurant, floor to ceiling glass windows look out onto the small street around you. The dinner itself came with several small courses (and I am a arguably a smaller sized person - 5'1 and Asian) that I think would leave even the most petite of diners a little famished for a 200 euro price tag. Nothing in particular stood out to me (in a good or bad way) so I have very little comment to write here. Ultimately the food left little impression on me, with nothing that I really felt compelled enough to write home about. The value (as with many other New Year's Eve menus) were abysmal and despite the charming location - it was a very tight squeeze as they tried to fit in as many people as possible into the early evening seating. The one major redeeming quality however, was the lovely, English speaking and warm-natured service we experienced here. Without them, I would rate this place to 2.5 stars and say to not come again but instead perhaps it is better if you came here on a non-peak day, for a casual lunch instead. With less people dining and the perfectly tucked away location - I am sure the experience would be much different. Give it a chance on a non-holiday day if you want an unpretentious quiet meal. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! By far - BEST restaurant I visited in Paris. I came across this place because we were looking for a place that took reservations. Many of the places with 200+ reviews were booked and this was available and still had a very high star rating - so we tried it out. I can honestly say it was the best meal I've ever had. On a different night we went to another rested with 200+ reviews rated 4.5 stars+ and it wasn't comparable at all. This place is fairly new (1.5 years or so) and I am convinced it is up and coming - so go there now while you can!.You will NOT regret it.. For 65 euros - it's a deal. Also, the Chef is super friendly and actually served us a dish or two then chatted it up. read more

I love the space and the attentive servers. The assortment of appetizers served at the beginning of the meal were outstanding (chickpea tacos with herbs -- so good). Alas, I am not a huge fan of bone marrow and beef tartare. And that is exactly what was served as one of the larger courses. That being said, the tartare was very, very good, and my husband was happy to pick up the extra marrow bone! The wine pairing was delicious and imaginative. The dessert, superb. I would absolutely return to Verjus and hope for a menu that does not include one of the very, very few things I prefer not to eat read more
