Was invited by a friend to attend the 10 course tasting, it was an experience I would love to do again. The service and food were phenomenal and the interior design of the restaurant played very well with the way each of dishes we were served.

Where's the six star rating? DT is an outstanding Michelin star restaurant (2 to be exact). The experience is truly one of a kind with an out-of-this world tasting menu. Worth your time, money, and effort to travel here and taste. A few things to know before you go: - The dining experience can take around 3 hours (we went for lunch) - You will have a choice of which menu to proceed with after the vegetable-based appetizers (ranging 90€ to 250€ pp) - Your taste in food will forever change after this meal. The atmosphere: As soon as you find the restaurant, which has a pretty unassuming storefront, you're immediately greeted with suited waiters and rustic yet chic interior design. I know, I know, you're here to read about the food, but everything from the carved walls, the cutlery and the RESTROOMS are on theme with the menu. It's. insane. The food: Bright. Captivating. Original flavor. Your taste buds will tingle. The menu is served in several parts with each dish leaving you excited for the next. DT plays with unexpected shapes, forms, and flavors that both excite and satisfy. My favorites (Summer '19 menu) were the vegetables soaked in a creamy almond foam, mushroom and peanuts, lobster served on pine, and eel bathed in some type of heaven-sent sauce. Where as some Michelin restaurants start to trail off on desserts, DT keeps it going with a knock-out 4-5 dishes of berry, cream, and baked goods. You will leave full, by the way. The service: Top notch. You'll be serviced by several faces in the room, but typically one main waiter walks you through each dish. This is especially important as each dish is so meticulously designed, it's hard to distinguish the food from decor! Best meal I have ever had. An unforgettable lunch.

My original plan to have dinner at David Toutain was back in 2015... however, due to flight conflicts - we had to forgo it. Fast fwd to 2018, was able to get lunch reservation during this Paris trip and we ate our heart out! David Toutain - Michelin Star - Nordic influence cuisine. From start to finish, every dish & presentation reminded us of our trip to Copenhagen and we loved it! The service was as expected - attentive, timely, automated. Decor is modern, intimate, and if you look up, you'll spot that very fancy speaker! They offer 3 tasting menu - 5/8/12 (approx) What stood out? Almost all were fantastically delicious! -Oyster foam in a roll -Egg & Cumin in an eggshell -Salmon w/ micro-green -Lobster jelly & caviar -Sweet pea soup -Bass w/ edible flowers & greens -Smoked eel in black sesame We went with the 8 and added the caviar dish. You really can't go wrong and it's perfectly portioned for us; €400 ($470) for 3. An experience worth your time!

Ok, either the best or second best meal I've ever had in my life. Either neck and neck, or just a smidge behind Providence in LA. But really amazing and the food highlight of our trip to Europe. From start to finish it was a combination of excellent service to beautiful presentation, to crazy delicious food. Every course felt like a pleasant surprise and delight. We even had the optional caviar dish, and that might have even been one of the best things we had, but really hard to choose. The string bean purre, how can that even taste like that? A little bit sweet, but a perfect balance with the bean-ish flavor. Look at my pics and you can see the amazing presentation, but you can't imagine the tastes that come with each dish.

I can see how David Toutain got it's Michelin Star. Everything looks beautiful and tasted delicious. We got a lunch reservation for a birthday celebration. It's a set menu, and you can choose from lunch set menu, to 4 , 6 or 8 courses. You won't know what you'll be getting. It's really nice, you enter and they take your coat. And it's a very nice modern interior design, with casual/ business causal customers. The staffs are all very nice, especially Thai, she makes you feel at home, especially for American customers. We started with the Wood of Salsify, it looks like a tree branch, see if you can spot the two among the real tree branches, it's a great way to start the experience. I really enjoyed it, it tasted kind of like potatoes. I love the way they paired their ingredients and how they garnished it. When I'm Paris, I would definitely recommend this place. Great service and I loved our chef signed copy of the menu

This is the BEST OUT of the BEST Restaurants. The food excellent, everything was so perfect. Each item was so good. We went to many fancy restaurants Europe, this restaurant has the best tasting menu than all others we went. They also have exceptional customer service. My fiancé was proposed to me in this restaurant because the servers and food was so good, making everything was perfect, so my fiancé popped the question there. We had an awesome experience there. We definitely want to come back.

Restaurant DT, you blow me away with the shading lunch. Haven't had a meal where I felt that it checked all the boxes. From service, ambiance, the thoughtfulness and the flow of tasting menu, to the creativity and quality of the ingredients, all spot on. Definitely Michelin worthy, on par to at least 2 or more stars awaiting. We opt for the 4 courses lunch, it was 70 euros and we added the black trails option for the risotto - which was an outstanding dish. The contrasting texture (I believe there are chestnuts in it) on the risotto with explosive flavors. All the amuse bouches were well thought out . Mains were executed in perfection. A memorable meal for sure.

David Toutain was our first fine dining stop in Paris, and it also happened to be one of our favorites. When we were doing our research on where to eat in one of the best food cities in the world, we noticed that the name David Toutain kept appearing over and over again. After digging a bit deeper, we knew we just had to eat here. With one Michelin star already, Chef Toutain is reputed for his modern French cuisine with a slight Asian twist. The restaurant offers two options nightly: a 5-course Menu Carte Blanche ("blank slate" tasting menu) for 80 euros or a longer 8-course one for 110 euros. Note that there are also many complimentary amuse bouches throughout the meal, so for the quality and quantity of food we were served, we thought it was one of the best deals in the city. By the end of the night, we were completely captivated by French cuisine and Chef Toutain's food. Paris has so many amazing restaurants to offer, but if you only have a few days in the city and want to maximize your culinary experience, make sure that David Toutain is on your list! Just be sure to make reservations at least a few weeks in advance (I made mine 60 days in advance, but I'm not sure if that was necessary). Take a look at my blog for more detailed info on each dish!

Its said to be the next Michelin Star candidate -- yes I can see that is probably coming ;) French- modern European - mixing with Scandinavian influenced style- ( he worked at Geranium ( as they said ) so that explains a lot - the presentation definitely came from there --- and I am fond of Geranium / cuisine in Copenhagen ! ) I had a full tasting menu for lunch (the same courses as the dinner) and actually enjoyed them very much. The tender pork was the best I had this time of my visit and I liked the desserts - they were very fresh- "strawberries with palely ice-cream" was my fave. Relaxed and clean ambiance, there was full of stylish locals mostly. There are always new trends opening up in Paris though.... this is also a great one. Reasonably priced for that composition I think ;) it would be interesting to try the new creation again. But now is the time to go perhaps before it gets too popular :)

My wife and I are here with our family (a total of eight people). We had lunch in their private room just next door to the main restaurant. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was fantastic and the wine pairings were really good as well. Some of our favorite dishes were the caviar with juniper cream, the cod with corn & plum, and the duck and mushrooms main course. The private dining room is a really nice space and I recommend it for a larger family dinner such as ours. Our server was great and he delivered a reigned service that still managed to feel very casual and not too stuffy.

This restaurant needs a reservation to dine in, as it's Michelin star rated. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the food and was able to provide us some recommendations. We ended up ordering almost all of the food on the menu. They don't tell you explicitly what you can order, you just order by the number of courses. The ambiance was very quiet and intimate, and waiters were extremely attentive. I highly recommend the champagne! The soap in the bathroom is by Aesop, so my hands were also so moisturized!

KenScale: 9.0/10 Chef David Toutain's eponymous restaurant has been one of the hottest openings in Paris since its beginning in late 2013. The chef, who gained fame first at Agapé Substance before starting on his own, has been known for his creative take on French cuisine with technical sophistication. After touring the Louvre in the morning (I thought the Met in NYC was enormous, but Louvre was a whole different level), I went over to the Invalides neighborhood to visit this restaurant. A minimalist yet welcoming décor of the restaurant already gave me positive impression. While the restaurant's main tasting menus are on the pricier side (with an option for 98 euros and 158 euros respectively), the lunch offers more affordable courses like a 42-euro three-course option and a 68-euro lunch tasting menu option. I went with the 68-euro option that still featured 11 courses including amuse bouche. Throughout the meal, I was deeply impressed with the technical sophistication of the kitchen. Each dish was so meticulously executed with careful thoughts to harmony of ingredients' flavor and texture. I was particularly a huge fan of all the seafood dishes that came out. Three pieces of mackerel that came with coffee and eggplant was a triumph of inventiveness. The flavor of mackerel was soothed by coffee and eggplant to create a unique flavor and texture. While cod was perfectly cooked, I was even more in love with the roasted carrot that just had absolutely fantastic texture in harmony with the cod. Smoked eel dipped in black sesame and green apple (a signature dish according to one of the servers) had that rich flavor of French cuisine but I sensed a bit of Asian touch as well. On the other hand, goose that came with foie gras and mushroom was well cooked but could've used less seasoning to enhance the texture of the meat. Even the desserts were outstanding and had a touch of refined brilliance. I had never seen ice cream made of thyme, but its vegetable flavor somehow worked very well with the chocolate. The dessert that I couldn't stop thinking about, however, was the white chocolate, cauliflower and coconut ice cream. I'm not even a huge fan of coconut flavor in general and never expected to see cauliflower in dessert, but the dish was just so delicious with a complexity of different flavor. The modestly sized dining room is served by young and good-looking staffs with level of attentiveness and professionalism you would look for at a hotel fine-dining restaurant. The restaurant doesn't have a list of wines by the glass, but I had some solid sancerre glasses to go along with the tasting menu. David Toutain is truly a place worth visiting in Paris. It will show a more modernized version of French cuisine with the type of technical sophistication and inventiveness of an up and coming chef that avid foodies would certainly love to experience.

Don't knock it until you've tried it. Some plates were almost traditionally French, but always had a unique twist. Delicious fish but "salted" with an anchovy glaze. Fresh asparagus, not with traditional hollandaise, but with a Scottish cheddar sauce. Not the slightest morsel was left on any single plate by the time it was retrieved. I lost track of the number of dishes that landed on our table over more than two hours. Each was delivered with a short explanation of the dish and usually the origin of the ingredients in your choice of English, French, or Japanese. The service was perfect! Very professional yet friendly and not the least bit intimidating. Two of my party had some dietary restrictions which were individually accommodated but one of the several desserts contained bananas which one guest could not consume. Chef Takayuki Honjo brought her an alternative to our table that must have been just as good, judging from her expression and the fact that it disappeared entirely, like everything else. Given the quality, originality, and presentation of the food along with the impeccable service, I'd have to say that it was also an excellent bargain. I can guarantee any food lover will enjoy the meal. Unfortunately, you will be on your own trying to find such interesting company to share the experience.

One of the greatest experiences of my life, both in a foodie sense and a ~human living on this planet~ sense. I loved the room we got to sit in, a little airy and bright in contrast with the front room which feels very heavy and dramatic. I loved our server, server assistant, som, and the fellow guests at the restaurant (nothing ruins a great meal, like annoying people at the table next to you). I loved how large our table for 2 was. It never felt crowded and the dishes were synced up so well that there was never too much on the table. It's almost like they are professionals ;) We chose this restaurant because it is known for its Burgundy Wines, and so naturally this is where we started. Ultimately we decided to order a la carte, instead of going with the tasting menu. But, it was cool to see that the tasting menu is available without pre-ordering. The highlights of the meal were without a doubt the amuse-bouche and starters. Even the bread was miraculous, mostly because of the perfectly salted butter. If you are eager to go here, definitely book a reservation. If you would like to sit in the darker room, plan your reservation later in the evening or request it specifically. Everyone was friendly and professional. The food was fantastic, exactly what I would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. Creative, perfectly cooked/executed, and filling. I particularly liked the attention paid to the amuse bouche and dessert, since sometimes those things are a little bland, but in my case, they were the highlights of the meal! The poached sea trout with pumpkin and horseradish ice cream was very satisfying. The mix of poached trout and horseradish cream was very familiar, yet the twist of making the horseradish a wholly different temperature and texture was really surprising and innovative. The monkfish in adobo was another extraordinary dish. I have only had monkfish liver before, but the way they were able to perfectly cook the monkfish gave it a texture and flavor reminiscent of lobster.
