I have never experienced customer service this incompetent and financially reckless in my life…read more In early November, I accidentally damaged my phone. I pay every month for device protection through T-Mobile, administered by T-Mobile and their third-party insurance provider Assurant, specifically for situations like this. What followed was a two-month nightmare of errors, contradictions, and a completely unjustified withdrawal of over $1,000 from my bank account. I filed a claim on November 9. I was told to drive to a repair location in Edmonds, only to be informed after I arrived that the repair couldn't be completed due to a clerical error on Assurant's end. No apology. No solution. Just sent home with a broken phone. Then I was told a replacement would be mailed to me. The first replacement arrived -- with a cracked screen. Yes, they sent me a damaged replacement. I had to call again, repackage it, return it, and push for expedited shipping because I actually need a working phone to function. They finally overnighted a second replacement, which thankfully worked. I transferred my data and personally handed my original damaged phone, properly packaged, to a USPS employee using their provided return label. I thought the ordeal was over. Then, without warning, without notification, without a single email, call, or letter, T-Mobile withdrew over $1,000 directly from my bank account because Assurant claimed they hadn't received my returned phone. When I called, a T-Mobile rep stayed on the line while Assurant investigated. After initially trying to gaslight me/suggest my claim number was wrong (it wasn't), the Assurant representative came back from a VERY long hold and admitted they had in fact received my device on December 17. The T-Mobile rep acknowledged the charge appeared improper. So let me be clear: they had the phone. They knew they had the phone. And they still pulled over $1,000 from my account. No notice. No attempt to contact me. Just took the money. Since then, I have yet to be refunded. I have called four separate times and spoken to four different supervisors at T-Mobile. Each one has given me slightly different information. Multiple supervisors promised I would be refunded within one to two days. That did not happen. Now I'm being told I may have to wait one to two billing cycles to get my own money back. Meanwhile, that unauthorized withdrawal disrupted other automatic payments tied to my account, creating additional financial stress. I upheld my end of the insurance agreement completely. Assurant confirmed receipt of the returned device. Yet I'm still chasing a refund for money that never should have been taken in the first place. The level of disorganization between T-Mobile and Assurant is staggering. Customers are left paying the price for their internal errors. If you're considering device protection through T-Mobile, understand that when something goes wrong, you may end up fighting for your own money -- even after doing everything correctly. This experience has been exhausting, financially harmful, and completely unacceptable. A TOTAL NIGHTMARE.

Not only did they 1) steal the phone i traded in and sent in the wrong phone to tmobile, I 2) got scammed and had to end up paying full price for the phone I traded in for. I attempted to get support for this from other stores (told me i got scammed and had to get it situated by the store i did the trade in at) and multiple different staff at this store and no one helped me. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Don't go here.

I'll elaborate, since I see AT$T is so concerned with my satisfaction. I spent over 3 hours getting bounced around an absolutely insane web of phone-only representatives (and of course they make every non-money making aspect of their work a phone-in-only option) so no, I won't be reaching back out to their customer service phone bank folks. But I will tell my story: While trying to leave AT$T after they jacked my rates up, sold me a several hundred dollar ($450?) wireless router I absolutely did not need despite their insistence, and hoodwinked me into some stupid iwatch deal that was definitely NOT a deal! they absolutely refused to unlock the phone after I had paid it off in full. I'm gonna say it again because it's important. I paid the phone off in full and they would not unlock it. Not only that, but the phone coverage dropped unexpectedly while trying to port my coverage to the next provider. I don't know who is at fault with the failed transfer (Mint or AT$T) but at the end of the day it failed because they locked my phone for their own purposes. Still with me? So I suddenly don't have a working phone (no maps, no internet, no phone calls, kinda hard to do my job (I work in first-response medicine and it's really important that my phone works at all times)) and I drive across town to figure out why my phone wont port across. I show up to the store and there's... literally no door handle and it's definitely meant to swing out. Uh... red flag? The sole visible employee kindly opens the mangled door but he is busy with a customer. I don't want to interrupt but I've just spent the whole morning on the phone getting nowhere with these people so I ask to speak to their manager. The young man (seemed nice btw, just saying) goes into the back room and quickly returns saying the manager is busy. I politely insist that I really must speak with the manager as I've spent the whole day trying to take care of this myself and I just need some help at this point. The manager dude storms out of the back with his phone on full blast speaker mode and immediately tells me to stop yelling! I was speechless! I guess you'll have to take my word for it but, bro, I was absolutely not raising my voice though I was, I'm sure, visibly frustrated at the situation. The power trip escalated quickly from there with a long diatribe about how this was his store and he would throw me out. He lorded over me, I mean like weirdly staring me down (and raising his voice, I might add), seemed like a dyed in the wool abuser type of person. This is obviously a practiced tactic of his and he thought I would cower and crawl away so he could get back to whatever he was playing on his phone. I just needed his help. In short order he told me to get out of his store. When I told him he was literally throwing me back out with no way to use my own phone I had paid his company for he told me again to get out! Having no phone in 2025 in my profession is 100% NOT AN OPTION. (Btw this was a phone through their sister-company, FirstNet, literally for medical personnel like yours truly who depend on RELIABLE access to emergency communication ). I then spent the remainder of my day making my way to their more northern store and let me tell you, getting around unfamiliar parts of big cities is pretty difficult these days without any form of navigation. There I found several kind, if ultimately unhelpful staff. This was an 8 hour unproductive day. For the sake of brevity, I will just say it took me another 2 full days of not having a phone to finally swim through the bureaucracy of AT&T to finally be allowed to leave this deceptive, dishonest, and unethical company. What an absolute nightmare. I hope this review will help save someone a headache. Good luck out there and advocate for yourself. Stay away from businesses that prey on you. Good luck on your wireless provider search!

The one staff person in the store remained sitting intensely looking at his computer the duration of the time I was there. When I asked a question (how much might I get for my current phone?) he reluctantly gave a minimal answer. When I asked for help sorting out the differences among the new phones HE POINTED TO THE AREA WHERE THE PHONES WERE DISPLAYED. I politely explained that I'd like him to join me looking at the phones and assist me. HE SAID I COULD READ THE DISPLAY CARDS. At this point I said I'd take my business somewhere else. To this he chuckled derisively. It is my impression that this young misanthrope is far more interested in what is on his computer screen than the real person in the room. FYI, I drove to the Ballard AT&T Store and had a completely different experience. The staff (Tim? and one other young fellow) were responsive, informed and helpful. Additionally, while I was there 4 more middle aged customers entered with varying questions, and levels of confusion. I witnessed these two polite fellows respond with an earnest desire to be helpful.

I had to erase the new machine and get someone else to do the transfer which took him less than two hours. He is likely very good with hardward but he never should have taken on a software project that he knows nothing about it. He never should have taken on the project and he never should have charged more. He should have called me and admitted it was beyond his knowledge. I felt totally ripped off, he not only didn't help me he cost me MORE time and life energy. I should have known looking around his disorganized shop he was not the guy for my job. Sad because I wanted to support a small mom and pop shop.
