I've never had a good experience at a Verizon store, and this time was no different. Came in to ask for some help installing a new screen protector as the current one had broken (I am a Verizon customer, to be clear). It's not the easiest process sometimes. Guy there flatly tells me no, because if they install it and something happens to my phone, it's a "liability" for them. That's ridiculous. And almost certainly made up, by someone who just couldn't be bothered. I tell him that Bust Buy happily installs screen protectors, for a small fee, and that I've had it done there before. He looks at the screen protector that I brought it, which was bought on Amazon but fits my phone, and explains to me like a child that Best Buy absolutely won't install it unless they sold it to me. WRONG. I head to Best Buy and they immediately put it on for me. Took 10 minutes. Verizon stores are as a rule staffed by smarmy, hipster know-it-alls who think they're more intelligent than you because they show older people how to use cell phones. You can count on being condescended to whenever you patronize one. Happened to me at the Vernon Hills store as well a few years ago. But the Lake Bluff location is consistently terrible. Go to Best Buy. You'll get excellent customer service and you can get better deals on phones and plans there anyway. read more

A family member went there a year ago or so for phone upgrade from Iphone 12. The result was a huge subsequent bill increase due to "free ipad" (un-needed) with service fees etc, new credit card (unwanted). Went back to the facility to return unopened ipad and cancel the rest of the add-ons. The place wasn't clean and the employee was rude to our faces. Called there about a different issue recently, and the person was demeaning when I asked for a clarification. Who does this? Bye Verizon. read more

have made an update to this review after revisiting the store. Here has been my general experience so far went to the store on December 10 with an appointment. Got there and still had to wait 20 minutes because Aaron the salesman was busy with another Customer. eventually got help. I requested that I wanted to purchase a watch for my son to replace his Verizon gizmo watch. I clearly explained that my son does not have an iPhone or phone service with Verizon. I was told to buy an Apple Watch with its own cellular plan from them. Was told that I could pair it with an iPhone on another provider to make updates if needed. I asked several times if the watch would need to be near the phone to work and was told it would be fine on its own since I was paying for its own phone line and number. fast forward to after Christmas. Watch is not working unless with the parent iPhone or on Wi-Fi. Called Verizon customer service and was told that I was sold the watch under false pretenses as I'd have to have a phone paired with the watch that was also on the Verizon network otherwise the watch will not work. made a second appointment on January 2 and arrived on time. This time I was told by the store manager that Aaron, who had helped me initially went home sick 10 minutes before I arrived. The manager himself Sebastian was working with another customer and told me that it would be at least an hour before he could see me for my appointment. There was another sales person in the store, but I was told that he was so new and junior that he couldn't help me with anything. So now apparently I have to make another appointment and come back later or a different time or day. What is the point of scheduling appointments with these jokers? I'm of the opinion that Aaron knew he had screwed me over and when he saw that I had made an appointment the day before he conveniently got sick 10 minutes before my arrival. We will see how this all plays out if they straighten it out I will update my review, but if not, it will stand as is, and I will avoid the store in this company like the plague. Returned to the store an hour later. Aaron was not there, so I was wrong about that one. Upon my return, Sebastian was able to help me out. He contacted technical service as well as worked on re-synching the watch. He assured me that the watch should work for the intended purpose that I had bought it for. After doing a bit more testing the watch was functioning properly so overall, I am now giving the store four stars but would be hesitant to make an appointment if I was truly tight on time. I did appreciate Sebastian's customer service in resolving the problem and will chalk up my entire experience in buying this watch as frustrating because of the mixed messages I was getting between store employees and Verizon customer service. read more

I went in to get pricing for an equivalent plan to my AT&T service. I told the salesman that from the beginning. We were the only people in the store, but he made it seem like I was imposing. Told me everything I needed to know was on a sheet of paper he handed me. I started asking him questions about specific items in the plans and found out many of the items weren't offered anymore, or pricing had changed. The rates and phone offers were not cheaper than my current AT&T plan, and even if they were, I wouldn't give this store my business. read more

Worst experience ever. Beware, if you shop here. I went in stating that I did NOT want to be on the Edge Plan, behind the desk they signed me up for the Edge Plan anyway (while telling me I was signing up for a two year contract). The store manager, then withheld any documents that would indicate for what plan I signed up. . Always leave the store with: 1. A fully detailed sales receipt, 2. A print out of your signed contract, 3. Your customer agreement. I would give negative stars if I could. This store doesn't honor their commitments. They made a commitment in the store for a device trade-in promotion that was designed to save me $500. I got my first bill and there was no credit on the line. I raised this issue to the store to have them rectify the situation three times. They proceeded to drag out their response to my issue such that I missed the return window on the new phone and they still haven't fixed the credit. Now I am left holding the bag with more than $500 of unexpected expenses with no ability to return the phone. The kicker? They didn't even call me back when they couldn't fix the problem. Apparently they didn't have my phone number (yes, this is sarcasm). Do yourself a favor and go to another location where integrity is a priority. read more

Not sure how this store is still open. Time for a phone upgrade so I go in to compare a few phones. One "sales rep" was on the floor playing with his phone and couldn't be bothered to get up (or put a mask on) which was supposedly their policy. Finally got up when I was checking out the phones (Galaxy s20 series) and when I asked about them he really couldb't answer any questions and just pointed and read straight from the plaque in front of the phone. Asked about pricing and he gave MSRP from the computer and I asked if there was any discounts to price match from Samsungs website or rebates and he said "there might be" and walked a few steps away. After an awkward silence of him just standing there he asked "you want me to look that up"?.... not anymore. The other sales rep I talked to for a few minutes actually knew about the specs and phone differences but never got to speak with him as he was either in the back room or out front smoking. Can I give negative stars? I don't generally like to speak poorly of people or businesses, but my recent experiences with the Verizon Store in Lake Bluff (Rockland and Waukegan) have been extremely frustrating. The sales associate I dealt with was not knowledgeable enough to answer my basic questions, and he gave me incorrect information, that ended up costing me extra on my bill. The manager there was not only even less helpful, but borderline rude, implying that I was lying about my interaction with his employee, asking me "why would the employee lie?". Thankfully, a quick call to corporate resolved the situation that the manager wasn't willing to take care of. I chose to go to the Verizon Store in Vernon Hills (near the mall), where everyone was kind, knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend driving the extra distance if you are a Verizon customer and you want helpful staff. ***A regional manager for Chicagoland Verizon called to follow up on my experience. He was apologetic and wanted to ensure I remain happy with Verizon. They don't price match, which is a head scratcher as almost everything in this store is available online or at other local merchants for MUCH less. Their excuse is that they prefer to offer savings through Groupon and other marketing channels. Huh? Its not a bad premise, as groupons expire and then you're stuck trying to spend purchased value @ an overpriced store. Somewhat luckily for me I had 2 weeks to spare before my face value groupon expired and I made the drive. Well actually I drove to the Linconshire location only to be greeted with a door sign that said "Closed due to inclement weather". Huh? It was a cold day in Jan, but every other store is the strip mall was open; so what gives? Anyway, 11 miles later I am at this location overpaying for accessories. The grand total of purchased items was $53, for which I paid with a groupon ($19) and $3 cash. Could I have purchased the same items from Amazon for the same $22? Just about, it would have been $26, but well worth it to avoid the hassle of driving,etc (Probably a wash with round trip cost of gas). They have a decent, but limited selection relative to BestBuy and when I stopped in; only one employee working. He was already working with another customer and had to stop several times to answer my q's and then ring up the sale. Not sure how they can service multiple customers on a busy day. Maybe for Verizon phone service and purchase its a great place, but I can not comment on that. . read more

This store is terrible. I went in for a simple task. I wanted them to put on a screen protector which I brought in. They ruined the screen protector because they kept peeling it off assuming the screen was still dirty. The guy helping me searched for another screen protector which they apparently didn't carry and when he asked his co-worker, his co-worker responded with an abrupt "no". Very rude! Each time I come into this store, they never have what I need and are not personable. I suggest going elsewhere! read more

We started off on the right foot with the salesman (or so we thought...) He was very unprofessional and cynical in general. We specifically asked if it was an actual Verizon store, and he lied and told us yes, but that wasn't the only lie unfortunately. We were switching from Sprint, and we had to get new SIM cards, and when I asked about the charges that we would be paying, he mentioned the activation fees for each line (which is understandable), and the SIM card cost, which he said were originally $21, but he took $10 off for each of us, which we thought was nice, until we looked online and found out that Verizon doesn't charge for new SIM cards, so we made a quick call to Verizon and they gave us an account credit for the $20. He also didn't inform us that there was an extra step to sign up for the $150 per line "bring your own device" deal, which was the reason we came in that day. But when we called Verizon, they took care of it for us. We will never be returning to this store again. This guy was a salesman, and nothing more unfortunately. My wife and I left feeling kinda disappointed with the service and how the salesman acted, plus he was the only employee on staff and he was helping another group of people that came in at the same time as us. It's more on management for understaffing the store, but he should have dealt with us first, then taken care of the other people. He also asked for our unlock codes on our phones and was unlocking them himself rather than asking us to do it ourselves as most stores would. I really wish we would've gone to an actual Verizon store. We will make sure we do in the future. We are all about the person that helps us making some money off the sale, and we feel like we were an easy sale as we came in intending to switch and open a new account. horrible! I went in to upgrade my phone, when the reps did this, they did not upgrade the correct line. Instead, they created a new edge agreement, informing me that all I needed to do was send in my old phone. I did, and since they created a new edge agreement without notifying me that is what they were doing, I am stuck paying fro the previous phone as well. I spoke to multiple people and they are not willing to work to correct this action. as the customer I have to pay for their mistake, and their is no accountability on their end. the practices of this location are more than unprofessional. I would recommend any other location, preferably one with knowledge of their profession, so the customer does not suffer from their wrong doing. read more

Carlos and Joe were hands down Awesome! I originally bought my phone from the Verizon Gurnee store and they didn't set it up properly. I switched from AT&T, but the sales guy told me it could take up to 24 hours for my number to work. Long story short, it didn't . The next day, I was by this location getting lunch at Bangkok Tokyo. Carlos greeted me and actually shook my hand. That's really rare these days, but it was a nice touch. He found out what was wrong and actually called it in for me. He was really patient and made sure that my phone worked. Carlos couldn't get my iCloud to work and Joe stepped in and made sure that all of my information from my old phone transferred to my new one. I was really impressed with the customer service and next time I need to get a new phone or need anything I'll go here. I can't say enough about those guys. They treated me like I was a dummy when I had an issue with my phone. I ended up going in 5 separate times when each of their "hit reset" solutions failed. If I could go lower in my rating it would be a negative 5 Star. I would never recommend anyone to do business at this store location. The entire interaction of this transaction has gone wrong from the beginning until the end. Example, the manager had admitted wrongdoing if the corporate management was not around at the moment. What type of statement should ever be expressed especially verbally towards a customer who wants to get an upgrade? Then several attempts had to be made to get the information for the authorization on the account to be made due to a secondary user. That was completely unnecessary since a pin number had been made and even a third party phone call had to take place. The final attempt was adding onto the app when that could have been provided all along. Then extra charges had been made with a separate transaction that Corporate Verizon could not even gain access too by their website and hours with them on the phone to be told that this store location would not release this information unless the person showed up back in person. Now I am the primary account holder and I should have every right to gain access to a receipt that is under my name. When a third party called took place, "Randy" was not able to answer the questions that I had on the phone. I took immediate offense that he accused me of interrupting him and screaming in the phone. He claimed I became combative which was not the interaction on my part at all. I even asked him why was he not allowing me to ask questions about the transaction and even attempted to rephrase the questions since they were the same question. He could not provide me a clear and concise answer. A complete misunderstanding was taking place and the conversation ended up on him explaining to me how he served overseas in the military in 2011 once I had mentioned the veteran status because I was asking why a military discount was not being offered. He explained only a 15 dollar credit would only be offered. I know better than Active Duty and Veteran status gets a little more offered then this. I have gone as far as sending the President, Derrick Shenk an email about the unprofessional behavior and attitude I had experienced. Now I completely understand why this store location gets low ratings. It appears to me that customer service is not their focus. read more
