(Pt. 2) He takes a look at my phone and asks me if I have the box. I forgot it at home, so I bike back to get it and get back in 20 minutes. Now we're sitting there and he's looking at the phone, wiping it down, making a bunch of huff and puff noises. "Yeah, sorry about the late call. I guess someone wrote your number down wrong so they could shortcut order the 17 pro." I was like, "Yeah, it was you!" He was like "Nahhh, couldn't have been me." I was like "Yeah, it was you! Remember, we talked about Expedition 33, Final Fantasy, Star Ocean..." He says nothing. He asks me if I drive, to which I reply no. Silence, huffing and puffing for 2 more minutes. "Okay so, we gotta return these things like they're new. And idk if you can see but this one has some stuff up there in the speaker." It looks like some lint in there. I ask him if he can get it out. He finds a paperclip like thing but it's not quite small enough. Sigh... "The reason I was asking if you drive is cause the apple store can probably just use a compressed air gun on this thing for you for free. So if you could get that out of there and bring it back in." I'm kinda pissed at this point so I just say "ok," get up and leave. He's saying sorry about that man as I leave. I go to work on the train, then on my way back from work I stop at the apple store. I go in, they use a cloth to get the lint out and tell me how ridiculous it is that they're making me do this. They seem legit surprised. I feel seen. I hop back on the train. It's dark, I trudge over to the store with all my work gear trying to get there 30 minutes before close so i could maybe do the data transfer. I get there and show them my phone. Looks brand new, but they can't do the exchange at this point because Manny's not there, and only he can be the judge if the phone is good enough for the return at this point. He'll be in first thing tomorrow morning. I say ok and leave in the same icy somewhat pissed off manner that I did before. At this point I've already wasted *so* many hours travelling to, being at and talking on the phone with this store. I've even cancelled plans just trying to get this done within the month. I come in next morning and, of course, Manny's not there. This other guy, I wish I remembered his name cause he was cool and understanding and seemingly pissed off with Manny. He's like "Dude, he just told me he'd be in a couple hours late. I'm sorry man I've seen you in here like everyday. He's really dropping the ball." I leave, come back and Manny's there, but he's with another customer. The same guy from the morning tries to get the process started for me, but ultimately needs Manny to finish with his other customers before he can complete it. An hour goes by. Frustrated, I walk up to Manny and show him the phone "Good enough for a return?" He looks at it for 5 seconds, "Yeah he's all good!" They try to get the data transfer going but are having problems. I need to be somewhere so i memorize the directions, leave my phone at the store and bike over there. I come back and the data transfer still isn't done like they promised it would be. While I'm there I tell Manny I think I should get a discount. He laughs at that, but I say, no seriously. I have never had a more awful customer service experience than what I had at this store, and what it has set off has been countless hours of painful and taxing efforts to try and resolve not only the initial problem I went in to fix, but also a number of compounding issues that arose as a result of having to deal with online services, just because of the sheer lack of professionalism at this store. I will preface this by saying that at this point, I have left Verizon and have been promised that I received the final bill on three separate occasions, each at incremental amounts, something I'm still dealing with to this day. But I will leave that for another time. I will also say that I have personally worked in customer service in my life before becoming a CPA and have a strong compassion and understanding for the kind of personal effort it takes. As such, I have never written a negative review. I initially held back from doing so, but the fact that I'm still dealing with problems since I walked into the store on January 12 and since having to cancel the whole service on January 20 just because they didn't want to do their job deserves one. I went into my local neighborhood Verizon store in Andersonville to address network issues and billing considerations as network had been fairly spotty to say the least and my bill had been going up and down month to month with no change to actual plan. From the start, I was never properly greeted, so I just hovered around waiting for someone to talk to me. When the employee in the picture below had a break from his customer who was walking around the store, I got closer to him, and without me saying a word, he said he'd help me when he can in a very off-putting way. So I stand there by the counter waiting in silence and catching up on my emails because I just got back from a trip so I read something and sighed, realizing how much work I had to do. At this point, this man turns to me and says "I can give you other Verizon locations if you're in such a hurry". I had to pause for a moment in disbelief because at first I wasn't even sure why he'd say something like that, and when I processed, I simply replied "I haven't said a single word", to which he said "yea but you're standing there and you have this hostile, negative energy and we don't need that, you can go somewhere else, this is going to take a while." Mind you this is now mid-conversation with his own customer that he's supposed to be attending, so everyone in the store literally stopped to look at me. I'm completely baffled and respond " Why would I go somewhere else? I live right here." He was basically like I don't know what to tell you. Honestly, just review the cameras, I may have had to paraphrase a word or two, but this is literally happened. I think at one point he even said you can go. No one even asked me what I was there, for. I was waiting in silence when this man turns to me to belittle me. For my own peace of mind, and probably my ego, I wanted to sit there and wait, but I couldn't believe how badly I was treated so I just walked out while saying thank you so much for your help. As a result, he's single handedly made my life miserable in having to deal with a bunch of cascading issues coming out of that when it could've simply been a conversation. I am that person that loves my technology, but only when it works. This store is the reason that I continue to be a Verizon customer! Whenever I go in, I am greeted and listened to. If this is something that their store cannot help me with I am always given helpful information to resolve my issues. My last visit was because I needed help resetting a phone, before I went into the store I had visited a corporate store because I was told by customer service that that is always the best way to get my issues taken care of. When they were unable to help me I went to the store in Andersonville. Juan is always amazing! When I told him what my issue was we sat down and he helped me work through it and get everything taken care of. I appreciate that he takes the time to listen to me and always make sure that I leave with the information I need. He walked me through everything and was wonderful about making sure I knew about the latest offers without being pushy. Visited this store after going to the corporate store on North Ave. The North Ave store said they didn't know what these satellite stores were offering for new phones. When I looked in the door I thought they were closed. All I saw were computer screens. When I opened the door two heads popped up. The people were so relaxed and sitting low in their seats I couldn't see them. The guy never got up or sat up or acted professional at all. There was music blaring in the store with swear words in it. I even made a joke about it. I'm not used to hearing "F*CKING" in a song in a professional environment. I asked for some details about the differences in the phones. The guy who couldn't be bothered to sit up said "look at the specs online". No help or sales involved. Overall it seems like an unprofessional atmosphere that doesn't care about sales or service. I definitely won't be back. Sad really, I never had this experience at this store before. read more

I was gifted a newer phone, and I made an appointment to make the switch at the Lincolnwood location, but when a salesperson called to inquire what my appointment was for, they said they didn't do that there, and said I could go through doing it myself from home through the website. I tried but didn't have any luck. So some time passed and I called the Andersonville location and they said no problem, so I went in. Unfortunately, it took forever and an hour to transfer my data (I really should have deleted the videos and photos I didn't want beforehand or uploaded them all to a flashdrive or something). Nevertheless, the employee who helped me was very kind and it was a more or less a painless experience. They charged a nominal fee to transfer the data ($20? $25? It was worth it to me to not have to put all my contacts in manually). read more

BUYER BEWARE Roughly a week ago I went into the Verizon Store located at 5314 N Clark in Andersonville. The reason I went tot this specific location was to shop and support local. BIG F*CKING MISTAKE The reason for my visit was to have my older Android battery replaced. I was greeted by Marcus Link. Seamed nice, but he was a lying snake. I knew the battery replacement would coast $100.00. He looked into his computer and said my account was eligible for an upgrade. The coupon was for $650.00 off of an eight hundred phone. I did the simple math and the real coast to me would be $50.00, since I would be spending $100.00 for the new battery. I said lets do it...... As we go along Marcus said to me they recommend I purchase th3 insurance for $17.00 a month. After telling Marcus a few times I DID NOT WANT IT!!! He said it was added automatically and the only way I could stop it was to call Verizon and cancel it. (FIRST LIE) ( My old phone was already taken apart so I was stuck) The next issue to come up was the newer phones do not come with the wall plug. That is true buy the way. Marcus then tells me I will need to buy the wall plug. I then asked Marcus, if the changing port on the bottom of the two phones were the same size? They are the same size. I asked Marcus if I could use the charging cable from my old phone. He replayed NO. (SECOND LIE) I said ok and thought if he was lying I will just bring it back. I then got the " we have a package of shit we want to sell you, not items you want to purchase. I did want a screen protector and an Otter Box. If you read the other reviews other also had the wool pulled over their eyes too. I was also told there was a $35.00 activation fee. Not sure that was real or not. I have to say I did no research because I was not going in to buy a phone. That is my fault for sure. I paid for the shit "I had to have" and left the store and went home and called Verizon's customer service. I spoke with a very nice and informed rep. I told her my story. She looked into my account and removed the insurance. I asked if it was an automatic charge. She side NO it was manually applied. She said since this sales man lied and tried to basically steal your money I will also remove the $35.00 activation fee. She added I have sent an inquiry to corporate about the insurance lie. I went back to the store to speak with the manager Bobby, oh what a treat. He was he was worthless. RUDE, HAD NO RESPECT FOR A CUSTOMER, AND INEPT as a manager. I explained I wanted to return the two items I did not WANT or NEED. ( I was polite no yelling ) I explained I only needed the Otter Box and Screen protector. He rudely said put them back on the wall YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANY $$ BACK. He told me they do not sell the items I need separately. I asked if I broke my Otter Box you would not sell me one? No response. The stores are owned by Mobile Generation. They are a local Chicago company and the upper management will not reach out to me. They own many of the stores in the city. How disappointing to learn that travel plan credits were not applied, you erroneously signed me up for "mobile protect" insurance for the phone when I specifically declined, and that you changed my plan without my permission. My new bill was going to be $27 higher per month than my old bill. I am sorry if I wasn't a lucrative enough deal for you so you had to find other ways to make me pay. Fortunately I was able to speak with someone at Verizon who removed the phone insurance and reverted me to my original plan. This company, to whom I have been loyal to for 30 years, feels more like Comcast/Xfinity with the stealth ways of withholding information and pages of fees and charges that make my stomach churn. This location is NOT A COMPANY STORE. They lied and deceived me. GOAL told to the salesperson: I want to switch ecosystems from iphone to Galaxy ONLY if my monthly bill stays the same or less. RESULT: Receive bill for $240 up from $168. LIE #1 - Replacing Apple Watch with Galaxy Sport. He told me that I really don't need it connected to the network like my Apple Watch. I agreed. He not only set up a network connection with the network. He put insurance on the watch which I never asked for. And I paid for this in full. Theres monthly payments on my bill. LIE #2 - Replacing iPad with Galaxy A3. I was specific that I needed a Wi-Fi only tablet like my Apple one was. He sold me a tablet that connects to the network and added a line to my service. Paid for this device in full as well. There's monthly payments on my bill. AVOID THIS LOCATION AND THEIR SISTER STORE ON BROADWAY NEAR THE LOYOLA CAMPUS. Lastly, they have much less inventory and the quality of their accessories are subpar at best e.g. Braven headphones that briefly lose their Bluetooth signal every 5 seconds. Considering I bring in a $2K worth of cell phone business annually. This was my first and will be my last at this location. The owner can expect being contacted by the state. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE: UPDATE: I spoke over the phone with "Jeff" the store manager. He explained that this is the store's "business practice" to tell people that they need to pay $180 to get their phone. After speaking for a few minutes he then admitted that the $180 was actually for the four devices that I was told I was getting "for free" with the "down payment" on my phone. His tone could not be more hostile or condescending. I even asked him at one point if I had offended him to deserve to be spoken to like that. Let me help anyone out who just needs a new phone and does not need any additional devices: go to verizonwireless.com and buy the phone there directly. You will received the discounted rate and have the phone shipped to you. You will not be at risk of being misled about devices you do not need. ORIGINAL POST: My phone was stolen and I needed a replacement so I went in on Saturday 5/11/19 with my mom. I was told in order to get a new phone, I'd need to pay off the remaining value of the phone that was stolen, which I expected. I was then told that I would need to pay a "down payment" plus a sales tax on whatever device I chose. The sales person, Steven Kruger, ran through a few different calculations on a piece of paper for the different iPhone models I was considering. After looking at the phone models, I picked an iPhone 8, and was told that the cost would be $200 for the phone and another ~$90 in sales tax. My mom and I were still a little confused where the $200 was coming from because she was able to use the money paid on her phone to cover the cost of my back payment. We didn't understand why we needed to pay another $200. I said, "oh, this is the down payment toward the new phone?" and the sales rep said, "yes, this is the down payment." Then, out of the blue, another rep came to "show me my devices." I asked why I needed devices and they said "oh it's just a special deal we're running this weekend when you get a new phone." I asked again, why? and they said it was just included when you got a new phone. I was shown to a phone case and speakers and chargers and had my mom pick out a few because I said, "I don't even want this stuff." I never even asked for a screen protector, I was just told I was getting one. Before I even touched my phone for the first time, the sales rep had put it on my phone. I also asked it I could put the $200 on my Verizon bill because I hadn't expected to pay it today, and the sales rep said "no, we can't do that, you have to pay it today." I checked out my receipt today, and realized that the $180 I paid as a "down payment" was actually a "device payment package" and did NOT go toward the full $610 I still have to pay for my phone. When I realized this, I called Verizon Corporate's customer service. The very nice rep told me that she had never seen this charge before and is following up with me because it looks like I've been "misled." I'll also just mention that the sales rep, Steven, when I told him that my phone was stolen he made a point to say "by some black kid." And then told my mom and I a story about how uncomfortable he was when a black person sat next to him on the train. Honestly, do not go here. read more

We ordered new iPhone XRs online but needed help transferring data from our old phones so we went to this Verizon store. It quickly became clear we should have bought our phones here as our order was apparently not done correctly. We ended up on the phone with customer service at Kenny's desk for over two hours. He was very helpful and also chatted with the customer service agent to help expedite things. We purchased screen protectors and Jeff waived their normal fee for transferring data onto phones purchased elsewhere. Kenny also introduced us to the "hum" and we learned we could get Verizon's top unlimited service at a lower cost than what we had with the service we already had. Sold! I downloaded the accompanying app there. Now I just have to install it in the car. Kenny was very knowledgeable and patient and we enjoyed working with him. The store manager, Jeff, also made us laugh, which eased our frustration with this process. So, lesson learned. Buy local! read more

Wanted to buy a new phone- clerk Amari said it would be 50 dollars over price to buy outright, offered to let us put large "down payment " leaving 36.00 in installments to be paid over three years ( no interest, but who needs a higher phone bill) Called Verizon- was assured we could just pay it off ...and advised that the salesclerk's commission at this authorized dealer was tied to the installment crap. Reviewed ability to place order on line and have delivered or picked up in store. Was "shown" three phones in the store...all in sealed boxes, of only one was out on display ( but not operational). Never an issue at Apple or Target or Best Buy electronic departments- go there to checkout devices. HOWEVER, the two employees working mid afternoon during the week were both hustling. Answering phone, greeting return customer with tech issues by name, trying to juggle the walk in bill payer, couple " just browsing" and the three sets of us buying a new phone. They remained friendly and upbeat to all but ultimately left feeling misinformed and underserved (despite buying phone and accessories). read more

This Verizon store used to be so great but it has fallen to be one of the worst in my opinion. I have been a Verizon customer for well over 10 years. My last transaction with them, an upgrade from an iPhone 13 to an iPhone 14 has been one of the worst experiences. The store is extremely understaffed and I have had to go into the store 10 times or more and my issue never gets resolved. They say they are working with someone from regional (whom they won't disclose) and that they will call me back. After several promises to call me they have NEVER called even once. They have no manager and often there is only one person in the store at a time. The last time I was in there they had to turn away about 5 customers due to no staff. I had to leave myself, being first in line and having to wait over 30 minutes. I am not going to name names there because it is not the worker's fault but I feel like it is the fault of their corporate people. My issue is they told me I could upgrade and I had to pay $600 to upgrade even though they told me I was eligible for a free upgrade. Then they gave me the wrong phone model and I didn't realize it until I got home to sync it. So they had to order me a new one since it was not in stock. That took about a month to come in. Then they told me I would get a $700 credit to offset what I had to pay. What they did NOT tell me was that the $700 credit would be divided on my bill for 3 years!!! What a sham. I showed them on the fine print where I should have had the option to take the credit all at one time. So now they have said they are working with this regional person to get this solved. I am into this thing for about 3 months now with NO RESOLUTION. This has left a terrible taste in my mouth for this location and the way it is run. Now I want my iPhone 13 back and had the entire transaction reversed but I am going to have to probably go in there and wait. I am at a loss with what to do with this absolutely horrible experience! I would advise any new customers to completely avoid doing business here. We'd purchased a wi-fi box that suddenly stopped working. Took into store and told I'd need to purchase a new box when I 'd been advised I just needed a new sim card. Went to the Verizon store in Lincolnwood who replaced sim card and resolved our issue. I'd informed the technician at the Andersonville store that I was told I only needed a new sim card and he directed me to Lincoln stating he'd have to charge to troubleshoot problems. I don't have a Verizon phone, and when I stopped into this store yesterday to replace my battered case for an outdated phone, I expected a hard sell or brush off. Why? Because the last time I went to a Verizon store for this very reason, the salesperson gave me BS about needing a new phone, switching to Verizon, etc etc and when clear that I ONLY wanted a case, was no longer interested in helping me. Not so here! Emmett greeted us at the door, and not only showed me where the cases were, he asked about my phone model, what sort of abuse I put it to, whether I needed a case that could snap open, etc. The kicker was when he advised to get a cheaper case on clearance for better support, rather than the expensive one I was going to buy! Emmett was friendly, super-helpful, and didn't treat me like crap just because he wasn't going to make a high-end phone sale. It's not near my home but I will bus on back up here any time I need a new accessory. You rock. read more

Read other reviews too: DON'T let this store talk you into any "free" devices that are special they are running. My husband went in there with my son to activate an old phone and to add the phone onto our plan. The interaction started out with a question of "When has Verizon ever scammed you?", trying to build trust. They told him we could save money on our plan and that we'd stay on our same plan, if we signed up for their special for the JetPack. The JetPack is an old fashioned WiFi device that you have to carry with you. My husband stayed there for an hour outlining everything we had in our plan to make sure everything stayed the same. The reality was we were downgraded from the original Unlimited Plan (which you can only be on if you are grandfathered in), to the Unlimited Start plan. We lost the Hotspots on all 4 of our phones and we are paying $20 month for the JetPack which is too much of a pain to use or carry around. Now that we lost our original Unlimited plan, we'd have to pay a lot more to get Hotspots back on our phones. Btw - tip that we learned when getting our last iPhone, you get better trade in deals from Apple and cheaper payment plans. Verizon will tell you they have the same deals, but they don't. read more

I don't know if there is a term for a person who has a cell phone, but only uses it for basic things like texting, the occasional call, taking pictures of hilarious things, and setting alarms for naps. Regardless, that is me and what I use my phone for. I don't need a new phone every two years, I don't need it to impress anyone, but I do need it to work and not just die spontaneously like a little B. I was overdue for an upgrade and finally got around to shopping for my new tele-companion. My wish list was short: a physical keyboard. I would consider a smart phone but didn't want to overcomplicate things. As it turns out, I was persuaded into smart phone territory by the fact that the data package is inexpensive, and that it was a matter of time before all phones were "smart." So I could enter the fray now or later, when they had more bells and whistles. I chose now. It was down to two phones, and Chris, our friendly salesguide, gave me the highlights of the two models I was considering. I couldn't make up my mind on the spot, so he gave me a web site with independent reviews that ended up being very helpful. In the end, I chose a smart phone without a physical keyboard, in part because Chris demonstrated how easy the touch-screen keyboard was when the phone was held horizontally. So far, so good with the phone. I still have to learn all its schmancy features but I can read the manual or else take it in and have Chris show me. He is hilar and whipsmart about these things, and didn't even judge me for coming in with an old, lame phone. And when he was transferring my old data to my new phone, if he saw all the photos of my cat, he didn't let on at all. Cool. read more

This used to be such a great store. There used a helpful, patient staff who helped me make good decisions about technology. I used to be a regular customer, and I never used to consider going anywhere else. After my visit today, I wasn't at all surprised to find a lot of recent, one-star ratings. I am six months overdue for an upgrade, and the battery on my iPhone is failing. I have been watching as I pass to see some of the familiar faces that have been so helpful in the past. I'm going on a road trip tomorrow and decided that today was the day to upgrade my phone. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I seemed to be bothering the people working there, who explained that their Internet was down, so "the best they could do" was to have me come back tomorrow or go to another store. They were "busy cleaning." The last time I checked, it was 2015, not 1990, so a company in the business of selling the latest technology should not be telling regular customers that their internet is down. I'm sure that the folks who work here are wonderful when you have their undivided attention, but twice this past fall I walked in, hoping to renew my Verizon contract and get a new iPhone, mainly based on the great reviews I've heard and read about this place. But both times I walked out after about 20 minutes -- while the two working there seemed to be taking all the time needed with two other customers, I didn't get so much as a nod or "helllo" either time, so I left. Renewed my contract, ordered a new phone online with Verizon. I suppose this store might need another employee, or two. read more

UPDATE: I was able to speak with Matt, the regional manager, over the phone to discuss my experience. He was very helpful in dealing with this matter and gave the store a call to let them know I would be coming in to return the accessories for a full refund. He gave me a follow up call later in the day to check in and make sure that the refund was handled courteously and without issue. I'm updating my rating from one stars to three stars due to how Matt handled the situation. If he had been the one helping me with the initial transaction, I'm sure this would have been a five star review. I visited this store on Saturday to switch to Verizon after being a Sprint customer for 7 years, and I'm incredibly angry and disappointed about the way I was treated during my visit. I had a very similar experience to what Tim Charlebois posted in his recent review on Google. My wife and I decided to purchase Pixel 3s to take advantage of the current $400 off promotional offer. We were "helped" by Chris, who tricked us into signing up for what was listed as a "Pixel 3 Device Payment Package" on our invoice. Chris explained to me that by paying a $360 down payment towards the cost of the phones ($180 for each phone), we could select up to 4 accessories for each phone free of charge. After we left the store, I had a chance to take a closer look at my invoice. I noticed that the amount we were financing was still listed on the invoice as the full $1600 cost of both Pixel 3s. I drove back to the store and asked Chris to clarify what exactly this Device Payment Package got me, as it appeared that I had only purchased the accessories (and the ones I chose don't even add up to $360 when paying full price), and that payment wouldn't have any impact on my bill. Chris explicitly stated in no uncertain terms that my monthly bill WOULD be lower because I made this $360 down payment, and that the charge was not for the accessories, which were free. I also noticed he had signed us both up for the $13/month total equipment protection insurance, which he never brought up to us before giving us the invoice, and never asked for our consent to include on our plan. I asked him to explain why that charge was listed on the invoice, and he told me not to worry. He explained that it wouldn't show up on my bill. Well guess what? I received my bill today. The $360 down payment is not included. My bill states I still owe the full $800 balance on each phone. I was also signed up for the total equipment protection insurance, which is a $13/month charge per line. I had to manually remove that from my account in order to prevent that from being a reoccurring charge. Chris lied right to my face about my charges! Based on this experience there is no way I could recommend visiting this Verizon location. It seems as though the employees here will tell you anything in order to tack additional charges on to a sale. This has been a supremely disappointing start to my time as a Verizon customer. read more

On 8/17/12, while camping n Saugatuck MI, I had my phone stolen. I contacted Verizon and suspended my service until I could get my new phone. I stopped into this location and spoke with Chris about the insurance claim and anything else that I could do. While I was in the store he looked up the number on my mobile device and printed out the claim form that I needed to fill out. When the paperwork was filled out he faxed it out for me. He then advised me of what I should expect after the claim was received. Sure enough it was spot on! The claim was cleared and I was sent my new phone two days later. I greatly appreciated his customer service and patience with someone who was a bit frazzled after having his phone stolen. That same day I filed the claim Verizon contacted me stating that my stolen phone was in fact located on the side of Lakeshore Drive smashed. The thief must have realized it was now just a worthless paperweight. The sad thing is that based on the location where the phone was found that it was a Chicago resident. Sigh! I was hoping at least to blame a Michigander over one of my own. read more

Failed to sign me out of the subscription after I returned tablet device and cancelled service. Continue to have issues with billings for service not being used, never used for months. Because not signed out Verizon for a few months, central continues to bill for that time. No message units or time used. It's stupid and frustrating. read more

Came in with my friend to see if she was eligible for an upgrade and Mirza hooked her up!! Normally picking a new phone is really stressful and anxiety-driven but this visit was so smooth! Mirza helped explain all the option so clearly, always volunteering to show how everything works or let us test the cases. Superb customer service. No offense to anyone who works for cell phone companies, but usually these experiences rank pretty low for me in terms of customer service, HOWEVER, these gals break the mold. We had a complicated situation were I was on a family account and my husband was his and we needed to switch upgrades between us, which sounded less than thrilling... Well we went in on a Saturday afternoon, actually the day after the iphone 6 came out, and the owner and her sales associate were so awesome with us. They went through the whole rigmarole with us and made it as easy as possible. We also like their insurance plan as opposed to the one with verizon, so I'd recommend that as well. If you need phone service, this is a great location! read more

My fiance and I had put off getting an updated phone for years, until he lost his. So going to the Verizon, we knew it was going to be an adventure. We needed to cancel his contract, go onto my bill only, get a teacher discount added to the contract, and figure out what phones to buy. For two very non-tech savvy peopler, we probably would have abandoned ship at the first sign of difficulty. But thanks to Chris, we got everything accomplished pretty ease free. Not only did he walk us through step by step, he loaned my fiance a phone until our new ones came in! Chris was professional and patient the entire time. When we had to speak to customer service, Chris was right there holding our hands telling us exactly what to say. He didn't try to bully us into any packages or more expensive plans; instead, he showed us exactly what each plan's benefits were so we could pick one that would suit our needs. My phone died after an unfortunate encounter with the lake. I couldn't get a new one through apple since they required verification of my Verizon account through text (impossible with a dead phone). I tried ordering a new phone through Verizon online, but despite initially indicating I qualified for same day delivery, this changed at the check out. Anyway, needless to say I was pretty frustrated with the world when I walked into this Verizon retailer. But, Marcus L was wonderful. He got started right away on the process to replace my phone, and even managed to work around all the steps that initially wanted to verify my account and iCloud via text. He was courteous when I changed my mind three times about which model I wanted, and managed to do all this while also helping two other customers. In terms of COVID, they had large hand sanitizer stations at each desk and table, and Marcus had his mask over his mouth and nose during the whole process (as an MD this meant a lot to me). I've had 5g home wifi for 5 days and its stopped working twice. In 5 days I've only actually had wifi for 2. Ive spent over 4.5 hours on the phone with them with no resolve - And that's after a 6 hour set up process on Friday!! Oh and my call got dropped in the transfer after a long hold the first time I called today. This is absurd. I'm switching back to ATT the second I get back home after my trip. This experience is awful and no one I've spoken to on the 'support' line even knows how to troubleshoot the system further than what google could already tell me. Verizon should be embarrassed for providing this level of 'service'. Verizon 5g home makes spirit airlines look like they offer great customer service. If the 5g service wasnt ready, they should have waiting to roll it out. I just canceled my service- at this point my phone hotspot is more reliable. WOW read more

I stopped by this location (closest to my home) with a phone that would no longer charge. Aaron helped me out, and he was FABulous. I normally avoid such stores, because I always walk out feeling a little used. But Aaron got me hooked up with a loaner phone until I can get a new one (1 week) and I was back out living my life within 30 minutes. Thank you! I'll update this review when I purchase my new phone. First of all, the phone store at 5314 North Clark Street in Chicago is not a true Verizon store. Despite all of its signage saying "Verizon," it's merely a private business that carries phones and offers Verizon as the carrier. I discovered this distinction is very important when I tried to get an issue resolved by the Verizon corporation. Back in October 2018, employee Chris told me my trade-in was worth $400 to $420 in a special promotion. After turning in my phone to Chris, I expected the credit to appear in my account. I patiently waited three months, but no credit. The fourth time I called the Verizon corporation, they simply washed their hands of the matter - with no consideration given to me as a customer. One phone representative even laughed at me and said it was my word against the employee's. Trying to deal with the Verizon corporation was one hollow promise after another (a.k.a. lip service) before being told they wouldn't help me. It was an enormous waste of my time. After the Verizon corporation told me they wouldn't help me, I called the store inquiring about my phone. The manager said that I never turned in my phone and that there was no promotion. He was, at first, dismissive of my claim and actually laughed at me - but that changed when I posted about the issue on social media. ON THE SAME DAY I posted, the manager emailed me and told me that my phone that had been missing for months magically appeared. I was floored. Chris had quoted me a $400 credit for the Mega Galaxy phone, then realized it was a Mega Galaxy 2 and said "maybe $420." The manager, Jeff, told me phone was worth just $25 to $40. But none of this mattered, because I was told I never qualified for any promotion to begin with. After four months of waiting and dealing with Verizon and the faux-Verizon store, I was refunded $297 - which is significantly smaller than the $400 to $420 I was quoted. The manager said the best he could do was refund my down payment for the phone because - get this - 14 days had passed since I got the new phone. Never mind there was no way I could have known how badly they'd screwed up in those first two weeks! So I was not allowed to return the new phone, and I now have two phones - and need only one. I wouldn't recommend Verizon, in general, to anyone. But if you really want Verizon, research to make sure the store you going to a REAL Verizon store. These "mom and pop" faux-Verizon stores spell trouble for customers who are taken for a ride. The "service" provided by the corporation and the private store is disjointed and confusing and requires way too much work for the wronged customer to set things right. read more

Wow. I mean, like super-wow. Mirza is incredible. I walked in a little disgruntled about having to replace my phone, because on principle I thought getting a new one so soon (especially one that looks exactly the same - iPhone 6 to 7) is ridiculous. But Mirza made the process so pleasant. And didn't complain once when we had to sit for 45 minutes while my 13,000 selfies were backing up. Anyway, A++. And Steve was pretty nifty too. read more

Chris Haskell was my consultant and I was blown away by his exceptional customer service! I feel pretty lucky to have ended up in his store after my Sprint Evo gave out on me. I inquired about an iPhone and he educated me on the difference of iPhones along with informing me of their top sellers and options in plans. I felt like I was able to make the right decision for myself on both phone and plans. He was able to answer all of my questions and so much more. He even went as far as charging my dead Sprint Evo so that he was able to transfer my contacts over from my Google account and connecting me to sprint so I was able to keep the same phone number. He was so patient, thorough, knowledgeable, and just easy to work with. Since my switch to Verizon and to an iPhone I have been completely satisfied! My only regret?
