Baklava box
Kim L.

Got a box of baklava here for $35. The assortment in the box was plentiful and enough for sharing. It'd make a great gift. Staff was really friendly and let us sample some chocolates even though we only came for the baklava. The chocolate I did try was pretty good and comparable to most specialty chocolate shops. Prices are definitely on the spendy side.

I got a box of assorted baklava and it was amazing - crispy, flaky, and not overly sweet! The lady who helped me was very nice, and gave me a piece of chocolate to try for free. Highly recommend the baklava!

Verdun offers beautiful wrapped chocolates in a variety of flavors and colorful foil wrappers. The chocolate is housemade and makes a great gift for your holidays, a special someone or a chocolate enthusiast. Better than American chocolate, but not as good as German chocolate.

This was my first time in the shop and everything was very clean and presentable. The owner was great and really friendly: he answered all my questions and went over the different types of gift boxes & I was also able to try some samples. Definitely recommend!!

These premium chocolates from Lebanon are hand wrapped meticulously in colorful foils. Sample a chocolate in the store. You know--a box of chocolates makes a SWEET gift for your SWEETHEART on VALENTINES DAY or any occasion. I have sent boxes (in standard packaging) to California clients who loved them. Don't worry, Verdun can ship with boxes providing insulation and reusable frozen gel packs. So you can ship in warm weather too--candy will not melt. try the Verdun Chocolate Kiss so wet and so lip-smacking, your kiss as sweet as a finger-licking Verdun chocolate, so specially meant for one delicious encounter, so align your luscious chocolaty lips with the moist, so succulent pucker on mine! Are you ready for a Verdun Valentine Choc-ooooo-late kisssss? Eat all the DARK chocolate you want. It's good for you--has antioxidants, improves gastrointestinal flora (YUM), can lower blood pressure, is anti-inflammatory and lowers Alzheimer's risk. Not kidding! Go ahead, check with your Chocolate Doctor first before consuming massive quantities! Raw cocoa is best! As a gift idea Verdun can put your fine chocolates in a handmade wooden box that will be a keepsake forever-really exquisite.

My favorite.

Unique selection of chocolates! My favorites are the giandujia chocolates, especially the hazelnut giandujia. I liked the chocolates here so much that my friend (who lives in Portland) bought a box from Verdun and had it shipped down to Southern California for my birthday. Yay! edit - 4/6/08 Came back to this wonderful establishment and my friend bought me a box of chocolates as a birthday gift. The employee behind the counter was new and was incredibly helpful in his recommendations. Yay for chocolates!

The staff seemed extremely friendly and down-to-earth while having a lot of good suggestions on what would best fit our tastes. Inside is bright, with sherbet colored green walls, lots of shelves and tables stocked with beautifully wrapped candy, gift assortments, boxes of chocolates, novelty candy, gummies, lollipop, and even candy from around the world, including a large variety of Asian candies. For those wanting just an individual piece of chocolate or wanting to create a custom purchase, the counter holds individual pieces of a variety of chocolates. They have all the usual suspects - truffles, salted chocolate caramels, chocolate with nuts, cream filled and more. It was October, so there was a section dedicated to fall colors and Halloween, with candy coming in black cat boxes, candy that resembles an eyeball, witch, ghost, and of course, candy corn. Never understood the appeal of candy corn, you either love it or avoid it, but it's definitely representative of the season. Candy here is priced high, so it's more like a treat or gift, not an everyday purchase. Personally, I think they would be more profitable if they had a broader price range so it could be the candy store you always purchase something from while at the mall.

Cherry cordials, pear cordials, apple cordials in chocolates. Caramel chocolates, chocolate caramels. Thing is it's hard for not to love the store because it has three of my favorite things: 1. chocolate: shelves and shelves of unique artisan chocolates made with skill and care from all over the world. 2. And salt -- am a VERY big fan of picking up local salts whenever one is traveling -- including actual blocks and blocks of Himalayan salt stacked. Not imitation but the real stuff. They even have fresh popcorn for you to taste the truffle salt with. 3. Lastly they have fresh cut flowers. It's like a florist and you can create your own bouquets. Beautiful specimens with structure and freshness. I have to say they also have bottles and bottles of bitters -- crafted bitters. King Floyd chief among them. The staff person was super helpful. She was kind and educational about many things.

Smaller selection of pantry items, small bags of pasta with their name, and hot sauces. Also a few books books, focusing on salts, bitters and cocktails, of course! I've purchased some of the Maldonado finishing salt, and it absolutely makes a difference. Never use these salts as an ingredient, it's used to sprinkle on meats, veggies, potatoes, right before serving. Awesome on chocolate cookies. They even sell small containers for salt, known as salt cellars, so you can keep your favorite salt in your purse in case your restaurant meal is lacking that little something extra. They refill for life, for the tiny ones only. I enjoy checking out this store when I'm in the area or when looking for a gift for one of my foodie friends. I'd buy more, but the prices are very high, especially the pasta and chocolate. I can't rationalize $12-15 for a chocolate bar that I'll eat in one sitting. Maybe I'm the problem, maybe one bar is supposed to last for many servings!

We did the classic tasting without any add-ons except for mimosas while we were there. The highlights? We were raving about the vanilla scones (so simple, so good!), the meat pie, and the tea sandwiches. Every tea we selected was delicious and the pomegranate mimosas were a highlight for all of us. I encourage leaning into the theme, get dressed up, wear a fascinator, and fall into wonderland! Notes: reservations are highly encouraged due to limited space, so definitely make sure you reserve ahead of time! Allow extra time for parking - this is in the heart of downtown Beaverton and may require a little bit of a walk, but don't let that discourage you, keep circling and you'll find something, or settle for a nice little jaunt and enjoy the charm of downtown Beaverton.

We were in on a Saturday afternoon and nearly every table was occupied while we were there, yet it felt like we were the only table. The setting is very cool. There's so many hidden gems as you look around the space. Even down to their dinnerware and teapots. Each one unique and fun, enough to generate table conversations. Our server, Joey, was fantastic! He took the time to go over his favorite teas and answer any questions we had about ones we were interested in. I'm not a huge tea fan and I really enjoyed the one I got (birthday black tea-decaf). The food was so yummy! Our party were all so excited to try everything. The vanilla scone was the standout for me, but I did truly enjoy everything. My only caution is that parking can be a bit of a headache in the area so be aware ahead of time, but do not let that stop you from making a reservation for afternoon tea, it's worth it!
