It is quite possible these delicious truffles are my new favorite chocolates. In search of a lemon truffle as a gift for a friend, I wandered in to Missionary Chocolates. The friendly staff offered me samples of different chocolates, and I was easily sold! Their vegan (made with coconut milk) truffles are so incredibly flavorful and delicious, I ended up buying several boxes. You can choose the amount of chocolates you want in a box, and you can mix and match flavors. I bought some Meyer Lemon Explosion truffles, and my goodness, they delivered on the explosion of lemon! I also bought some Vanilla Salted Caramel truffles, and I could taste real vanilla. I have yet to try the Peppermint Perfection truffles that I purchased as well, but I'm sure they will be amazing! As a gift for my sister, I bought her some blood orange and some passionfruit truffles, seasonal options, and she raved about how good they were! I look forward to trying more delicious truffles soon!

I wandered into Missionary expecting to purchase a few tasty treats, but this exceeded my expectations. The flavors also blew me away. I'm usually more savory person when it comes to my chocolate pairings... like caramel or coconut, but my favorites were the fruity combinations. The passion fruit really stood out! The bourbon caramel truffle was stellar, as was the champagne truffle. The Earl Grey was another one I loved. As I was picking out my mix for the box, I also ended up grabbing a bar that had toffee pretzel bits and WOW. I didn't eat that til I was home in Phoenix, and the bar only lasted me 2 days. So addictive. Recommend stopping in here for some samples and treating yourself to some incredible chocolates. Great staff, super friendly and knowledgeable, and the owner is one of the kindest I've met!

Wow I'm not vegan but I love these chocolates. My partner and I have been trying different chocolates (all dark) throughout the West Coast and we keep coming back for their unique dark truffle flavors. Melissa and team are super nice and it feels like you're part of the family when you enter the store. They let you sample before you buy. Try some new flavors while you're there! Our favorite flavors: - elderberry - lavender - Jasmine tea - rose and saffron - blood orange and cardamom

What a delight. So thankful for their incredible mastery of making delicious vegan chocolate. My favorites were the dark chocolate and vanilla salted caramel. Friendly and gracious employees.

These are my daughter's melted chocolates.

UPDATE: The owner contacted us. She was very apologetic. She sent a replacement shipment with appropriate insulation and cold packs. The chocolates arrived in perfect condition and my wife loved them. She said they were some of the best chocolates she had ever eaten. Unfortunately, my daughter didn't get to give the chocolates to her mother as a gift on Mother's Day, but after all was said and done, they were both satisfied.

This is my favorite chocolate in the world. I regularly get the 12 piece custom box of truffles. My favorite flavors being: * Balsamic Fig * Champagne * Jacobsen Pinot Salted * Jacobsen Smoked Cherrywood Salted * Meyer Lemon Explosion * Peppermint (I appreciate that they wrap this one in tinfoil; the smell is intense!) * Simply Espresso * Strawberry (or Raspberry) Heart * Vanilla Salted Caramel * Whiskey ... So basically all of them. The 12 piece custom box is $40, shipping is $15.60, for a total of $55.60. Worth it. Let me tell you. The last two times I ordered, I even got a complimentary truffle with a note about who packed my box. And the truffle was a different one than any I ordered. I LOVE that attention to detail, and I LOVE that personalization. It makes me feel more connected to their brand when I'm reminded that a real human being carefully packaged my sweets up! The truffles, by the way, are enormous. My first purchase was in 2017 and to this day, they are perfect in every way: rich, abundantly flavorful, the ideal consistency, and literally melt-in-your-mouth. I like to have one with some bourbon. It's the perfect nightcap! Love from East Coast Portland!

The few hours hubs and I had left in Portland before heading to the airport, I wanted to end it on a chocolate note. And since my daughter raves about Missionary being a total Vegan chocolatier, this made the cut. Missionary is located in a small strip mall in the Kerns neighborhood in Portland. Be amazed- because I was- with the intense cocoa scent that lingered all around. Be even more amazed at the skill these ladies have for making Vegan Chocolates- and you wouldn't even miss the dairy. The menu is very straightforward with interesting flavors. Price for a box of 12 goes for $40- a little bit more than what I'm used to paying elsewhere, but these are quite substantial in size than a typical smallish truffle size I've gotten at other chocolatiers. I'll take it. Service is incredibly friendly. I got a rundown of flavors and mentioned they ship outside of Portland. FYI- this is strictly chocolate truffles (with things like chocolate covered almonds and stuff)- and not the place where you'd also get drinking hot chocolate. Missionary is still fantastic.

Their chocolate is SO delicious and plus it's vegan. I can't have dairy and I like dark chocolate so this was a great find and a little present to take with me to my family in California. Everyone enjoyed it.

I'm not in anyway vegan but don't let that scare you. These chocolates and treats are amazing. My favorite treat here is the chocolate covered potato chips! I need to get some ASAP! So good!!!

Having previously patronized Missionary Chocolates in person, and entirely falling in love with their glorious truffles, I jumped at the chance to stock up when they had a 50% off sale a little while back. This was near ridiculous, as their generously sized chocolates are already a great deal at around $3.50-$4 each. I ordered one of every flavor in stock, plus chocolate covered potato chips, chocolate covered sandwich cookies, and a sugar free lemon bar as a keto gift (sweetened with monk fruit). They have other offerings like chocolate covered marshmallows and cinnamon bears (I wanted these, but sadly they were out), and gift-y stuff like a locally made skincare set. MC's truffles are vegan, though you would never know it. I am not vegan, and like them just as well (often more!) than similar ones made elsewhere. Flavors are not bashful. They are bold and proud of it! I find this particularly noticeable for those containing alcohol. I think it may be more apparent to me as I generally do not imbibe, but just be aware that they ain't messing around! With that said, I cannot resist the citrusy, sparkling champagne Mimosa flavor. There are some standards always on offer, along with seasonal varieties. A few of my other favorites are: Peppermint - Attractively wrapped in bright emerald foil, refreshing and cool, but not overpowering. A paragon of mint chocolate perfection. Earl Grey - The bergamot is a DREAM. Cookies N Cream - So crunchy and exactly how you would hope it would taste. Missionary does fruity flavors beautifully. I particularly adore balsamic fig, elderberry, raspberry, pomegranate, and strawberry. CBD truffles have a different filling than the standard square ones: a bit more melty, with a rich and luxurious mouth feel. I would absolutely order these again, as, if you are going to eat chocolate, you may as well get the benefits of CBD, too! Because I got a little out of control, I froze about half of my chocolates. They held up well, and while the filling might not be quite as luscious, I do not feel that they have altered much. Lastly, there was a small error with my order, but when I let the owner, Melissa, know, she remedied it post haste. If I lived in Portland, I would appear here monthly. As it is, I will satisfy myself with the occasional online order. Take advantage of such close proximity to a wonderful chocolate shop if you are lucky enough to reside in that glorious city, otherwise follow my suit and treat yourself to a shipment of these delicious goodies.

4/12/2022 - They offer plenty of staples plus seasonal items.

Love the chocolate. Just so confused with the marketing and whether or not it all included CBD or some kind of pharmaceutical grade stuff.

Mothers is a great place to eat downtown, but I'd recommend making reservations or at least calling ahead. They get busy! The food came out quickly, hot, and prepared correctly. All items were quite tasty. Really it's what you'd expect for a downtown diner. This is the kind of place I would take people to who are coming in from out of town and I'm not sure how adventurous they are (mom & pop from Ohio for example) We will definitely eat here again.

But when our server was with us, they were very nice and patient with my questions and requests. It's a bit loud when the place is on the full side, making it difficult to have a conversation. I wouldn't bring my girlfriend who is hard of hearing, at least with a group. I'd be curious to try more of the menu. I was very much not wowed by the breakfast. The beverages were however very nice, and I recently had the cobbler dessert and it looked amazing and tasted better. We had the coffee (Extracto, love.), I had a really good hef and my mother a very well balanced Bellini that I was very pleasantly surprised with trying. From what I saw, the lunch sounds very good and I'd be more apt to recommend folks give that a shot if they happened to be going there too. I'm not sure if I'd recommend as a must go stop. Vibe wise, the ambience is overall really nice. I think having rolled flatware, even with just upgraded napkins, would better complete the aesthetic you initially see and feel. This would also connect with the price point of the food and quality of the beverages. As a fellow server, on that note I would expect more consistent stronger visual appearance standards with servers. (Sorry guys! But some of you looked great!) Overall, I'd definitely join a friend for coffee and lunch over there in the future. Just wouldn't be my top pick for a celebratory brunch or intimate dinner with a date or friends and fam.

It's upscale ice cream... are you expecting to be disappointed?…read more I'm sure you at least know Salt & Straw by reputation... it's the preeminent ice cream chain in Portland. And for good reasons! The flavors, taste and experience are truly phenomenal. I typically try to visit during the day so that there isn't a long line. If you come anytime after 6 PM, expect to wait a while. It's just that good! The staff is always incredibly friendly and they will let you sample as many flavors as you like before you decide. They have standard staples for flavors and then seasonal ones that rotate every few months. This particular location has very little seating so you should plan to take yours to go. I recommend enjoying it while you stroll on NW 23rd. Otherwise, the staff will be happy to pack up a scoop for you and/or you can take a pint to go! Parking is a typical challenge for this area, but prices are reasonable and you can't beat the service. My favorite part of the experience is that first step into the front door when I smell the fresh waffle cones being made. From beginning to end, it's a scrumptious culinary experience that can't be missed.
