A nice and inviting pastry shop located off Se Hawthorne area. They have a variety of items to choose from. With this visit, I chose half a dozen of macarons and mixed berry cheesecake. The cheesecake was good easy to eat. For the macarons, I enjoyed the animal cookie flavor. This one reminded me of my childhood with those animal cookies.

I'll start by saying that I've had plenty of baked goods from Farina prior to visiting in person. They make a great add on for delivery. I've also had items from them at local coffee houses. They're a solid local bakery. We happened to be nearby on my wife's birthday and decided to walk over. I don't know what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised. The store itself is really cute. It looks like walking into a cool, modern tea house. The kind where they serve little cakes, of which Farina has plenty. We had fun hanging out there and enjoying a few new (to us) items. Everything I've had from them has been awesome and this trip was no exception. With that said, I highly recommend the marionberry pop tart and their macarons.

I may be over exaggerating when I say this might be my first time in FOREVER entering a Portland establishment and the staff are all such sweethearts. I am so accustomed to the mean girl, no time for small talk, order your shit and leave" employees behind the counter. This place was so welcoming.... The live music and the aesthetics caught my attention as I walking by. I ended up ordering cupcakes because the staff were such a kind. And it smelllls amazing in there

Cute local spot for a sweet treat. I ordered a mini Marion very pop tart and an animal cookie macaron. I would order both again, i paid $7 for both items.

I can't recommend Farina Bakery enough! I ordered a 6 inch vintage heart cake for my best friends birthday and it was amazing. The ordering process was easy and they respond very quickly. The design was so beautiful and they were super accommodating with my customization requests. It was also fairly priced (in my opinion) especially compared to other bakeries around! The cake was also delicious. Thank you!

My expectations have been far exceeded with this incredible cake. Thank you so much to the bakers and owner, Thomas, at Farina Bakery for helping me celebrate this special day!! If you haven't been to Farina, you're missing out. Please visit them!

Chocolate Raspberry, Luscious Lemon and Cranberry Orange cupcakes

Last Friday I stopped in to visit Farina. Upon entering I realized I had tried their macarons previously at Elephant's Delicatessen. Their shop feels like it's mostly a working bakery and I didn't see any interior seating area (although it looks like they own the adjacent building also so maybe there is seating and I didn't see it because I was so distracted by the pastries). Cupcakes are my nemesis so I had to get some. I don't love their buttercream (seemed butter heavy and flavor light) and their cake was very light and spongy but lacking depth of flavor for me. Overall they weren't my favorite cupcakes (but @hungryhero has my heart there). That being said, their orange cranberry cupcake was a stand out! The orange flavored buttercream was light and delightfully orange flavored. The inside of the cupcake and delicious, tart cranberry that offset the orange cream fantastically. It was original for a cupcake and definitely a standout. Their macarons were quite good. They were a nice size and achieved the marshmallowy goodness that is expected with authentic flavors coming through. Especially good were the pistachio and apple cider. The raspberry was good, as was the chocolate but did not beat out our favorites at @laprovence. The woman who took our order was not unfriendly but did not particularly engage with us. Overall I would stop in for their original macaron flavors in the future.

Look at the very bottom of the stairs next to bunny. my melted dessert.

If you can't finish the croissants day of, make sure to retoast them in the toaster oven! It will still be buttery and flakey and delicious! Gosh, not much else to say because others have such a good job with their reviews. They're currently looking for a new location and I'm sad to see them leave their old spot on Williams.

It's clearly a popular spot, and from what I hear, getting there early is key if you want their famous croissants. Everything we ordered was amazing a rocky road cookie, a chocolate croissant, and the ham and cheese croissant. Even two days later, everything was still tasty. The flaky layers were especially impressive. I'm a big rocky road fan and had never tried it as a cookie before this one was a winner and tasted fresh, not processed at all. Definitely looking forward to visiting in person next time.

Come early because they do run out of pastries. Everything I've ordered has tasted great. The croissants are especially good. Very flavorful and buttery. Lots of unique flavors too, and in the macarons as well. The space itself is small with almost no seating and it's too crammed to form an appropriate line. You have to balance on small steps at some point. Not ideal. I would normally give this bakery 4-5 stars, but I think they deserve only two stars for my personal experiences. The staff has never been all that friendly, and on my last visit (and last for a while or ever) one woman was so rude to me I was so shocked I just stood there with my jaw hanging open until I finally regained my wits and just stepped away. I don't even know what caused her attitude, I had ordered and paid, but she didn't like how I was waiting for my bag of food, I guess. I don't know. But I won't be going back anytime soon even if I lived in Portland. Bummer because it's very tasty.

Sunday morning at 11am my husband and I got a seat at the bar. It was pretty busy. As usual the fresh croissant was amazing, flakey, and buttery. I had the chefs omelette for the first time. I was treated crappily by staff who I observed saying my order was not their responsibility. Not everyone there was bad. The initial service I got was good, but my coffee was so poorly slapped together because I spoke up. My sandwich was also slapped together missing ingredients I paid for, so enjoy the extra money I guess. Here's how the interaction went. I was assured my mocha would be ready in a few minutes, before my food, from a really nice staff person who too my to-go order. They instructed me where to stand. I watched the person put together my mocha. All that was needed was ice. My food came out quickly and I took it while waiting for my drink. 15 minutes passed. Two staff members looked at my drink and one said "who put this here " and another person said "I don't know, not my problem". I spoke up and said "hey that's my drink and if you put ice in it, I promise I'll get out of your way" - it was busy and packed. I was trying to be understanding. One of them made a disgusted face at me and said "I was gonna put ice in it!!!" ... wow. Eventually they did. And did it so sloppily that there was mocha all over the drink. The top was put on poorly and the drink spilled all over me. I tried to tell another server who was greeting and seating people but they kept saying "oh it's okay! It's totally fine" - no, it actually isn't. I get it. You don't want my business of 15+ years, but there are nicer ways of conveying that. I was ripped off and treated in a way I don't treat my enemies. But just like my order, that's "not your problem", right?
