Chocolate coffee walnut toffee sponge cake $8
    Yan W.

I finally went when they had pastries and not just cookies! Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the cookies are good, too but when I drop by, the pastries were gone...except for today! I had to wait in line, and though it was slow, I thought it was worth it. It was almost 1:1 or 1 group at a time. That's why it was slow. There were so many things to choose from and I overlooked and after checking out my photos again, I wanted to try 4-5 more things that I didn't order (haha). I'll have to go back and try something else next time because they are some-what pricey delectable and I want to enjoy a few at a time instead and appreciate it. 1. Blueberry and blackberry torte ($7). I wished it had a few more berries inside as some parts could use a bit of the tart-berriness to it. Aside from that, it was flavorful, not too sweet, and it had a nice buttery flavor (not full and dense but aromatic). The texture was nice and it was beautiful. 2. (I forgot the exact name because it was long) Chocolate walnut toffee coffee sponge cake ($8). It had a nice balance of various textures! The softness from the chocolate cream, the sponginess from the sponge cake which also had a nice chocolate and coffee flavor to it. Then, the walnuts were lightly coated with toffee and it was right in the middle of the cream and sponge layers. Very good, again not too sweet and loved it. 3. Sakura pound cake ($8.50). I didn't see that until I got closer to the line and wanted to try it since it's spring time! I never had sakura themed food before and it was PRETTY! Aside from the prettiness, I was amazed that the glaze tasted good. Glazes scares me in America but this was slightly sweet and a bit tart that went well with the pound cake itself. There were bits of dried cherries inside and again I wish there was a bit more so the flavors would be more balanced. The poundcake was on the stiffer side but still good. Maybe microwaving it a bit tomorrow before eating the other half. Still, flavors were good. There was a cherry blossom shaped cookie on top and it was soft short bread cookie, delish! I really enjoyed it and the people working there were so nice and friendly! I will be back!!!

So worth the wait. I unintentionally stumbled across a display of pretty pastries and tarts at Mio's Delectable stands. From a distance I saw a line forming. As I conversed with the locals and tourist in the line with me, I felt the excitement we all shared for the tarts and pastries. Tarts were delicious as it looks ! Can't wait to go back to Portland one day to have these again.

Some of the best and tastiest treats in Portland. Price can be steep, but worth it. And definitely worth the wait in line! Great place to grab treats and shop around the farmers market. Easy 5 stars.

A delicious AND truly delectable (as the name says) arrangement of desserts and sweets. Great for any occasion, especially with coffee or tea. I had some toffee flavored cake, can't remember the name exactly, but it paired well with my coffee. The quality and taste of these sweets were very pleasing to the taste buds and amplified. I highly recommend checking this place out at the PSU Farmer's Market!

    Fruit Mille Crepes

Been eyeing their booth and baked goods everytime I'm at the farmers market and finally braved up to line up to try some. Supeeer impressed by the attention to details that goes into their every pastries and they have A LOT of pastries. Each one is very unique and individually crafted, as well as packaged. Definitely a lot of love and care went into what they do. Tried their Chesnut Tart and Fruit Mille Crepes. They seem to specializied a little in tarts/tarlets and it certainly tasted that way. Super crunchy base and buttery crumbles. The chestnut was pretty subtle but not in a bad way. You could taste a little bit of the strawberry jam and frangipan in the tart (8/10). The Mille Crepes smelled very refreshing with the fresh cream and fruits but I didn't enjoy the flavors and texture as much as some other mille crepes that I've had (7/10). Overall, a great spot to treat yourself or get some goodies for a special occasion. They're definitely on the pricey end of the spectrum and their pastries are pretty small. But you do get a distinctively different experience with everyone of their goodies.

The artistic beauty of Mio's Delectables is unparalleled. Their stand at the Portland Farmer's Market always has crowds with theor exquisite French meets Japanese pastries stealing the show! There is always an array of pastries to choose from, each decorated to oerfecrion. The precision and detail that goes into each delicacy is mind blowing! It's definitely an art form, one that is edible. The colorful fruit tarts and tartlets, using whatever is fresh and in season, are divine and a great dessert if you are entertaining. They look beautiful and each person can choose their flavor, the perfect not too sweet ending to a meal. I absolutely love the Mille Crepe cakes, you know the ones! They are all over Instagram with their dozens of layers of ultra thin crepes piled high with light, creamy fillings to create the perfect slice! They are Heavenly and so worth buying because even during the Pandemic, who has time to make their own! Try the shortbread cookies flavored with lavender or miso & sesame seeds or tart lemon or vanilla bean; each a bite of buttery goodness with a hint of flavor. Sold in packs of 6 little cookies, they are the perfect treat. The individual canele have the perfect caramelized outer crust with rich vanilla custard inside. Just the right amount of sweetness to satisfy. The brightly colored macarons are bite sized flavor bombs! Crisp yet chewy cookies with intense flavored fillings like dark bitter chocolate, green tea, caramel creme, strawberry-raspberry, vanilla and more! There are also some savory options like quiche and croquettes. And if you haven't yet tried the Japanese style soufflé cheese cake, it's a must! To be clear, the items are expensive, definitely a higher price point and smaller size than bakery items at other stands. The unique flavor combinations, balance of flavors, fresh ingredients and precision that goes into making and decorating each pastry, along with love, makes them worth it!

My god. These pastries are on another level. First off, just look at them! The attention to detail is incredible. Visually they're stunning and everyone at the PSU farmer's market was stopping by. The line for this place is consistently long, but well worth the wait. My favorite was the peach tart. It was beautifully crispy and flaky. I love that they've combined French baking with their own Japanese flair. This place would be successful in so many other cities. Portland is lucky to have them!

Front of the line with a 15 minutes wait

In the middle of the farmers market, Mio Asaka is no doubt one of the more popular market attractions. Beautiful fruity and delectable deserts have people waiting in line up to 20 minutes. You have to get there early because they will sell out fast! The cost of these dessert are a little on the pricer side though. Lady at the counter will definitely be assertive if you are too early to order or are out of place in line. Which is understandable. Everyone wants a shoot of the goods! The lady could be a little more welcoming and friendlier though. Looking at these treats, I wanna buy and take a picture of them ALL!! It was so hard to choose!! I wanted to make sure I wasn't keeping the line up so I had to decide very quickly. I did feel a little rushed. But the friendly man at the other side of the counter did advised that they have a weekly email newsletter that comes out so you can decide what you want to get before you get there. Very convenient! You just have to make it before they run out lol Tried some of the fruit tarts, creme caramel pudding, and crepes fruit cake. Again, beautiful craftsmanship. These things are like edible art! The fruit was nice and fresh and all the cream fillings were so nice and light. Not too sweet! The fruit does balance them out. Just go, stand in line, take a million pictures and get your sweet tooth fix! This would be the place to do it... Just don't hold up the line!! Lol

Purple sweet potato tart, kabocha tart, and matcha macaron
    Jason C.

I've tried Mio's a few times. Aesthetically, their desserts are beautiful and have a broad range of Japanese- and French-inspired flavors. I recently got a canele, two tarts, and a macaron. My favorite was the canele which was perfectly caramelized on the outside with a nice custardy center. The macaron was overly sweet to me, and the tarts though they had good flavor were bordering on too sweet. I'll definitely have to keep the sweetness ratio in mind for future purchases.

Had to check Mio's booth out after coming across their "Great Big Story" video. How was there such pretty Japanese pastries in Portland that I didn't know about?! Mio seemed really sweet in the video as well, so promptly on the coming weekend my boyfriend and I had to come check out the treats at the PSU Farmer's Market to see how delectable they are. Mio's booth definitely stood out the most with their colorful treats, & she actually had a good variety of selection that you can't find at any other bakeries around! This includes green tea and sweet potato tart-lets, stollen, shortbread cookies with unique ingredients. She also has gluten free options! We sampled the shortbread cookies, & I was actually very impressed by the taste of everything available, even though some were flavors that I don't usually enjoy! I finally opted to try the green tea tart-let (who am I kidding, I already decided on it since I checked out their online menu a week ahead) and since it was such a cold morning, we went to Coava coffee to warm up & eat the tartlet there. The crust was crispy, and had a thin layer of lemon that paired so well with the matcha and added a refreshing taste. It was just the right amount of slight sweetness that both my boyfriend & I liked. Will definitely be returning to try more from Mio soon!

    Takako S.

Mio is one of the baker and pastry chef I highly recommend. Everything made from scratch and her "works" are not only taste, they are art (who knows Mio, are all agree?) She also makes gluten free option, so everyone enjoy her eye piping great treat.

This great find at the PSU Farmers Market makes some yummy desserts that are not too sweet. Come early for the good selection and be prepared to wait in line. They make sure to only help two customers at a time which makes for a better shopping experience.

    Fresh fig tart
    Cindy G.

The fresh seasonal fig tart looked like it stepped off the pages of a dessert cookbook or foodie magazine. The fresh and delicate figs were overpowered by the mint and the bitterness of the currants. They sat on a layer of light, but flavorless fresh cream. Looks can be deceiving. There are so many more tasty bakery treat options at the PSU Farmer's Market, move along.

Paid $8 for a strawberry shortcake that was dry, bland and sad. They want you to wait in line but people crowd the tent and it's awkward.

After drooling over their Instagram, I knew I had to go. To my dismay I arrived at something that…read moredidn't look like it was a cafe or even opened. I wasn't even sure I was at the right place, thought they were still transitioning from one location to another. Until someone who shared the kitchen popped out. I was told that I should order online and come by for pick up, and was strongly urged to do so because these cheesecakes were really good. When I saw that they were doing a contactless store front, I knew I had to go. This was my opportunity to try it. I texted the owner to ask if the flavor I had my eye on was available. I was halfway there before the owner responded that they had one slice of pandan cheesecake left. There are multiple forms of payment with a card reader, and various apps to pay with online which made this a breeze. The owner Kiana, even popped to introduce herself which I thought was so nice! The flavors here aren't your typical strawberry, chocolate, peanut butter cheesecakes, even though she does offer some variation of them. There's pandan, ube, lemongrass, ginger mango, passionfruit, matcha, guava, pineapple raspberry, and I heard she even cooks up something with the pickle brine from the other business that operates in that kitchen. I thought this would be one of those situations where the food won't look like the picture. The pictures are obviously styled, they look stunning. Nope! The food looked just like what was on Instagram. I am a long time lover of cheesecake, dare I say it's my favorite of the cakes. The condensed milk ube mirror glaze was a lot thicker than I thought it would be and held its form. It wasn't runny and goopy. Loved that it wasn't a sticky mess. The crust was very very thick, I've always wanted more crust on other cheesecakes. On the description, it says it's "jasmine scented almond shortbread cookie crust" slightly saltier than most crusts I've had, but still very enjoyable. I've only had the traditional graham cracker crust and I'm afraid this almond shortbread crust has ruined all other cheesecake crusts for me. I have been disappointed at a lot of places using pandan, because the flavor just wasn't there, not Muse cheesecakes though. Pandan was present indeed. I would have loved if it was a little stronger, but I think that would have overpowered the cheesecake. Each component of the cheesecake are so different and complex on its own. They come together in delicious harmony to make this beautiful slice. I grew up with a lot of Vietnamese food and pandan has a very special place in my stomach.. heart! I've never seen jasmine used outside of tea and condensed milk outside of Vietnamese iced coffee. Kiana definitely has a way with these ingredients and she's a cheesecake goddess! I really can't wait to try the calamansi, Ube, and whatever else is getting cooked up in this delicious kitchen.

Durian cheesecake!!!! I am Vietnamese-Cambodian and durian is my jam. I love its pungent goodness in all forms -- pure and un-doctored straight from the prickly shell, ice cream, smoothie, topping on mashed avocado dessert and now.. CHEESECAKE! ohhh my goodness. My heart. I have returned so many times and buying extra slices (possibly buying out her supply for the week...) to share with my family and friends, who have all raved about the cheesecake from here. Durian isn't her only flavor though. She has so many creative flavors and I've noticed she's had comfort flavors from different cultures. To top it off, the owner, Kiana, is a wonderful lady. She is a one woman team and is kicking butt at her game from what I've gathered in the short time I've known her. She could be dead tired, but always has a smile on her face. I almost forgot to rave about her TARO BURGER on a vegan bun. I don't know how frequently she makes them, but if you see it being offered, do yourself a favor and get it. The portion is quite large so be prepared for leftovers. Unfortunately for me, my carnivorous sister gobbled the other portion of my burger right up and didn't even miss her meat. It comes with a vegan mac salad on the side. I am not one to enjoy mac salads usually, I think it's due to the mayo (not a mayo fan), but I actually liked this version. I forgot to take a picture of the burger before it all got inhaled. Sad face.

The cheese and crack sundae has toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and cinnamon cracker crumbs. Omg the cinnamon crumbs are so good, that with the ice cream was really yummy (I'm a simple girl what can I say). The chocolate hardened into a chocolate shell and it was kind of only on the bottom of the cup so that was a little disappointing. The toasted marshmallow didn't add much, but maybe I'm biased bc I don't rlly care for toasted marshmallow ‍ Overall, the entire sundae is mainly a ton of vanilla ice cream. It's a big portion that I shared with someone else. Second time I went, I got the banana pudding sundae which was soooo good. I shared this with my friend and it was plenty. They give a good amount of banana pudding and you can tell it's quality. I saw bananas, the bread/wafer part, and it pairs nicely with the ice cream. Prob my favorite thing from this place. My other friend got the pbo which was also good. They layer oreo and peanut butter pudding so you get it all throughout the sundae which is nice. She also got an everything cookie which has literally everything in it. It was texturally interesting and not too sweet! Overall, good flavors and quality ice cream. The portions are a bit big and I wish they had half or even quarter sizes since these came in huge cups. At a certain point, the vanilla ice cream becomes flavorless bc there's so much of it but the sundaes were still pretty good!
