Rocket Fizz is a pretty cool shop. I hadn't planned on visiting, but stopped in when I saw the horrifying robot butler stationed at the entrance. Rocket Fizz is a soda and candy shop that has a HUGE variety of both. I've never seen as many individual colas as Rocket Fizz stocks...everything from the more conventional to "Spiffy" and "Judge Wapner" (no joke). The staff was VERY helpful and friendly, and told me to feel free to ask any questions, or for help finding anything because they "have everything". After striking out on "Tahitian Treat" soda, "Ol' Bob Miller's" sarsaparilla, and "Stimorol" minted fruit gum, the clerk recommended Earp's sarsaparilla as a potential runner-up, and was able to quickly find that Trident bought out Stimorol some time back. AWESOME help! There are also a few old-school arcade machines at the back of the shop, which is a nice touch. I'll definitely be back, as I want to get some more Judge Wapner cola :) read more

This place is pure nostalgia for anyone 25 and older. Their range of candy is just incredible. Nearly all the candies you can think of from your childhood and then some. They have an extensive drink/soda selection, including a whole fridge of just different root beers. It's pretty incredible. They have won me over as a customer. All of my family loves coming here, but after Friday night, I will always be loyal to this location. You see, my little 4 year old daughter and I were on a daddy "date". At the end of the night, before we went home, I decided to surprise her by taking her to her favorite store, RocketFizz. She loves the little shopping carts, and doing her "grocery shopping". She was so excited, and enamored by all the candies and sodas, that she neglected to tell me she need to use the restroom. The next thing I know, she says "Daddy I need some help"! I looked over to see her near tears, and see that her pants, shoes, and floor are soaked. I remained calm, and explained that I was an accident, and then sought out help. Alex, the employee on the clock that night, sprang in to action. The whole time he was calm, courteous, kind, and very understanding. He in no way made my little girl feel uneasy, or upset. He was AWESOME! He made a potentially very embarrassing situation, very tolerable. After I cleaned her up, and bought her "groceries", and left, she was back in good spirits as we headed home. Rocket Fizz has a sort of old fashioned candy store vibe with a modern twist to it. If you like candy or soda this is definitely a place to check out. This store has a nice selection of candy including a very large selection of salt water taffy in a multitude of flavors. I was very surprised that they had so many different types available and loose so I could pick the ones I wanted. I got a small bag of taffy for me and my friend and I really liked the taste of most of them. All of the taffy I bought was fresh and I was thinking that might not have been the case but fortunately I was wrong. I liked that they had some international candies but it would have been nice to see a bit more international candies. There are so many amazing candies from Europe and Asia that I love. They had some Asian staples here such as Ghana Chocolate which I like so I bought a bar. As far as candy, here are some of what they had available... - Double Bubble - Mike & Ike - Whoppers - Dots - Milk Duds - Hi Chew - Sesame Snaps - Ghana Chocolate bar - Ghana Chocolate hearts - Green Tea Kit Kat - Hello Panda - Tootsie Rolls - Bit O' Honey - Mary Jane - Slo Poke - Black Cow - Smarties - Moon Pies - Valomilk - Good News Bar - Mallowcup - Gobstoppers - Rocky Road Bars - Lemonheads - Trolli - Hottie - Sugar Babies - Now & Later - Necco Wafers - Sweet Tarts - Pez - and even Peeps! They have a lot more but I just wanted to give a sample. I don't drink soda but I was fascinated with the huge variety available. Some of the more interesting ones were the ones with world dictators and crazy people. I thought the Kim Jongun Nuclear Orange Bomb, Fiidel Castro's Havana Banana and the Josef Stalin Stalinade were funny. The artwork was great on the labels. They also carry the Lester's Fixins brand and they have some very bizarre flavors. This brand uses the theme of table food for their flavors. I thought the idea of bacon soda was both repulsive and hysterical at the same time. They also had Buffalo Wing, Ranch dressing and Sweet Corn flavored soda. I think the idea of ranch dressing flavored soda was probably one of the most bizarre flavors that I encountered while here. All of the Lester's Fixins labels look really cheesy and campy. I'm going to assume that Melba's Fixins are made by Lester's wife. Her sodas are more dessert flavored. I saw Apple Pie, Cherries and cream, Key Lime Pie, Peaches and Cream and Lemon Meringue Pie to name a few. They all have slices of pie on the labels. I think a lot of the sodas are actually ones that people may have actually drank in their past and they have a huge supply of those but the crazy ones really caught my eye. If you are looking for a soda from your childhood that you haven't been able to find, this is the place you need to check. I liked the store and the woman here was very friendly and polite. I am a sucker for good service and I even saw they had Wacky Monkeys available here. I bought one at an Asian market before in Florida and have not seen them since. I am happy they have them and now I know where to go to get another one. Check this place out and thanks for an interesting diversion. Oh and the Ghana Chocolate was great as was the taffy. When I was a little girl I wanted to grow up to be Wilma Wonka, so the grand opening of this candy filled corner in the Progress Ridge development was not to be missed. I love the concept and the location. The people that work there are very nice and the eye & mouth candy is amazing. There is also more to this store than just candy and soda (though there is a lot of both). And, yes, they do have a sugar free section, too! I love everything except the prices. I am torn between a 3 star and a 4 star as I appreciate the place but the prices make mall candy stores look cheap - and that's saying something. I paid nearly $3.00 (2.95) for an Astro Pop (you remember those lethal lollipops that were shaped like a prison shiv?) which seemed awfully high for a silly retro candy unless you are having a friend smuggle it to you in high security, which in that case, it's probably a freakin' bargain. But just for plain ole' sucking, they are a bit pricey. Awwww, it's candy, so that pushes it over the sweet spot to a 4 star review for me. read more

What a super fun store! I popped in specifically looking for one candy bar that my son got over Halloween and decided he loved that I haven't been able to find in our grocery stores (100 grand). First, they had it so I grabbed two for his Christmas stocking. But they also had soooo much more. Any kind of candy you can think of from chocolates and fruit gummies to lollipops and novelty candies. And from all over the world - I remember seeing specific sections for both British and Asian candies. They also have a ton of fun pop (soda for those not from the Midwest) - including different flavors of cream soda and water. But the most fun was all the candy I haven't seen in 30 or 40 years! Candy that I literally assumed wasn't made anymore because I haven't seen it since my childhood. I can't even remember all of it a day later but they had Now & Laters, candy/gum cigarettes, Jolt gum, Chuckles, Moon Pies, Zero candy bars ... I feel like I'm not doing this shop justice trying to name all the cool, fun candy that brought so many childhood memories flooding back. And the gentleman working the counter was great - friendly and knowledgeable about some of the items I hadn't tried. I ended up getting what I went in for AND some Christmas treats for friends. A large cooler is filled with what seems to be over 200 different soft drinks both older and newer that evoke memories positive and negative. Racks and tables adorn the floor space and are filled to overflowing with wrapped and boxed candies of every flavor and style from super tart and tangy, to silky smooth and chocolaty. I am a fan of the latter and selections are amazing. Zero, Charleston Chew, Uno, Crunchy. And new chocolates are here as well. Almond M&M's, and even imports. From Great Britain, Bassett's hard pear candies are killer. Stroll around the tables and along the walls and remind yourself of how fun it was to be a kid. Lastly, the owner has chosen to couple candy and soft drinks with a monstrous collection of vintage-looking signs on backing of varying materials. Each of them either adverts for a bygone era, or a quip or quote to lift the spirit. These are worth a gander as you scan treats. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but what price is fair to take a walk on the young side. Good value for happiness ratio here. In fact, I might be inclined to pay a bit more for a cool opportunity like this every once in a great while. read more

We went in with plans on just one treat each. We left with a 6 pack of sodas and a bag of treats. So much for the best laid plans. The decor here is so fun and throw back to the 80's. In addition to candy and soda there are life size character cut outs and throw back tins. The candy selection includes things from Asia as well as Canada and I believe Europe. There's taffy, jelly beans, pops, and chocolate galore. The soda selection is really fun with flavors like Dog Drool....it was actually a grapefruit or lemony flavor, but I bought it to gross my kids out. The staff here is just awesome! My kids were getting a little crazy and one of the girls working just swooped him up and had him help her ring up our items and bag them. Kept him occupied and settled. Then they gave the kids each a balloon they were using as decoration. It was so sweet. Oh, and though I detest real cigarettes, I have very fond memories of the candy ones, and they have a bunch of different candy cigarettes. I know that is so taboo now...but for the record, pretending to smoke candy cigarettes doesn't lead to smoking. lol. I know. They also have some other fun things like jumbo jaw breakers and gummy bears. There is also a bunch of novelty type toys and treats. Smaller companies with awesome stuff, think of like micro brew for soda. Unique flavors and things you may not have heard of. Bacon. Yes, i said bacon. There is even more than one kind. They also have their own house brand with numerous flavors in every type you can think of. Are you brave enough to try a flaming moe energy drink? Yes sir, they have it with the favorite simpsons character right on the can and all. And yes, they have energy drinks of all kinds as well, crazy stuff i dont think i would ever put in my mouth thanks but to each their own. Not gonna lie, their price per each is a little spendy, but if you dont drink soda often some of these are an awesome treat. But they do give some price breaks for buying more. Its a cool place to stop in and take a trip down memory lane, maybe even taste a few flowers along the way. The people here are very nice, super helpful, and they will even call you when they get a specific flavor or product in if you ask. You gotta admit, thats just good customer service. Drawbacks are I happened to have wanted a specific type of gummy that they don't carry! Sodas are pricey. Also, I haven't really figured out any rhyme or reason to the organization. Shit is just everywhere! Huge selection of random junk, cardboard cut outs, old classic tin signs, metal lunch boxes, and prank kick knacks. Love this place! A great and wife selection of various sodas and candies that will keep you coming back for new experiences. For me, most of the sodas are perfect, with clean flavors not overpowered with artificial or syrupy tastes, and the right amount of carbonation. Service at the Beaverton location was more than exceptional. The store manager was very friendly, helpful, and personable. Definitely go try this place out. Okay - 2 days before Halloween, hubster announces he should put a pirate chest full of chocolate coins at the pick-up window of his food cart so all his customers can be treated. Great idea - terrible timing. Deciding you need chocolate filled coins 2 days before Halloween???? Demon dialing by the wifey ensued and magically I discovered Rocket Fizz. Yes, they have the coins. She went and physically gathered up a bunch while on the phone with me and set them aside for me to come and pick up. That's customer service! I arrived to pick up the coins. I was instantly 10 again, except there was nothing like this when I was 10! No way could I make a beeline for the register to pick up my coins and leave. Instantly given tour of candies, sodas, and found some of the treats were ones I have not seen since my childhood years 40 years ago. Found a wonderful cluster of bacon flavored lollipops, toys, bandages, etc. - Hubster's birthday in a few days and now have a gift bag full of treats in his favorite flavor. They just started carrying treats from Great Britain - Cadburys, digestive bisquits, you name it and they have it. In addition to the amazing selection of sweets and sodas, gag gifts, fun signs. My nieces birthdays are coming up. Imagining how incredible it will be for them to just bring them here - hand each a $20 and then walk through the door into a store full of sweet tooth fantasies. This shop is amazing! I probably would have passed it up, but my kids wouldn't let me. I have to say in this instance I was glad. The selection is astonishing - countless varieties of unique sodas and candies old, new, classic and strange (Salt & vineagar bugs? Candied scorpion?). I'm allergic to dogs and I really don't appreciate this, particularly in a place that stores food fairly close to the floor. Rocket Fizz is the ultimate. My wife and I go all the time for an afternoon treat or to take something for a nice walk. The soda selection is a glorious mix of novelty and nostalgia with some great finds. I am just working through the root beers. We found Frost Top, which is the best root beer we have ever tasted and can't get enough. The store is full of new and old candies and hard to find stuff like Sen Sen and Squirrel Nut Zippers. It has a great vibe and everyone that works there is really helpful. You pay a little more for a drink and get a little less volume than somewhere else, but it is so worth it when you taste that perfectly crafted soda. read more

They also have a cooler that features all their sodas if you want your beverage chilled. All around the outer wall of the store they carry retro tin signs and old concert signs. This place is awesome. Not only does Rocket Fizz sell great and unique merchandise, but visiting the store is a fun experience in and of itself. This is the place to find weird, classic, and delicious candies. And the soda selection is extensive, to say the least. Not your run of the mill soda, either. Every flavor you can imagine, and every flavor you wouldn't imagine! ;) They have wall art, cardboard cutouts, and other funky decorations, most of which is on sale. But my main drive to write this review is the customer service I have received, multiple times. I always feel welcome, even when we popped in for a second right before closing. The associate went out of his way to make sure we got what we wanted. He remembered us when we came again. I will make a point of frequently visiting this location. read more
