This is a beautiful, enchanting store with amazing things to look at in every little nook. Yes, their candy, popcorn, etc., is expensive, but this is very much a case of you get what you pay for. The customer service is always terrible. Grumpy women behind the counter who make even my children feel uncomfortable. They act annoyed that customers are in the store. We don't get it. It's nice to be able to go to a chocolatier close by! Wish the prices weren't as expensive but it's mostly worth it! The chocolate is great! I drug Steve to the Dark Horse comics offices so I could get my picture taken out in front of them. Steve in turn "drug" me with little resistance to this candy shop. Lots of good truffles here. We both picked out a fair amount to snack on. It didn't disappoint! The truffles with a cake like texture on the inside was a favorite. Also a favorite was a very deluxe rice crispy bar dipped in milk chocolate on one side and layered in the middle with peanut butter I believe. Glad we split that one! Had me at Hello. Immediately upon entering, I was in love with this chocolate boutique! The stop is styled so artistically, every where you turn, every vignette is a feast for the eyes! Love! Reminds me of Parisian Chocolatiers or chocolate boutiques in NYC but in a more inviting way, no pretentiousness. The aroma of chocolate warms your senses and once you taste a sample, you realize this store hits it in all points. Valentine's Day was approaching so the counter and tables in the entry were literally overflowing with pink and red foil wrapped hearts, lips, and kisses. Bowls filled with red, pink and white marshmallows, gummies, jelly beans and sours were everywhere. Chocolate covered marshmallows with pink and white hearts standing at attention. It was visually stunning and there was something for everyone! As I made my way around the shop, I marveled at the "themes" of other displays. One table had all things Paris: Chocolate Eiffel Towers, a variety of dark chocolate treats in cellophane bags, small Coco Chanel boxes to fill with goodies, chocolates wrapped in black and white foil with Coco Chanel logos (this is what my girlfriends received for Valentines Day along with champagne glasses filled with Prosecco flavored gummies). So creative! Under the window were candies wrapped in shades of light blue in white. While the youngsters think of "Frozen", I think of home since my house is all shades of white, cream, gray with blue accents. Having a bowl of candies on the coffee table that taste good and compliment my home speaks to me! In the back of the store there are shelves stocked with homemade bags of popcorn in various sizes - even ginormous 30oz bags that people were buying. Enchante is as well known for their popcorn as they are for their chocolates. Adjacent to this area were shelves filled with brightly colored candies and old school candy like dots on paper, pastel candy necklaces, and huge marshmallow swirl lollipops. oh, nostalgia! The chocolates I purchased were beautiful, delicious and at a reasonable price point. Winner! Two weeks later I came back for more Valentine treats and it was clear the merchandise moves! The shop looked vastly different in regards to inventory, meaning it's well stocked, but fresh. This day I purchased a few large dark chocolate hearts individually wrapped in clear cellophane with red satin bows to surprise other friends. The smiles that lit up their faces as I presented them with a Valentine said it all! For me, Valentine's Day isn't just for lovers. It's about spreading love and kindness in a world that desperately needs it; something we should do everyday. New designs, colors and wrappings welcome every season and holiday at Enchante. I'm already looking forward to the spring and Easter displays and can only imagine how gorgeous the shop must look during Christmas. I'd give it a fifth star if I wasnt hoping for some peasant prices, sometimes the candy price game is a bit too much for me so when I find a gem, with an amazing price point I drop some serious Now this place has a bit of everything and is in a real cute location. Great walking score. We didnt get much, and it didnt stand out in any way, but was quality at a price you would expect. A great place for gifts, and a place to bring some friends or family for a treat, not really a 'stock up for a movie candy-pocalypse at this price point. read more

A week ago, my mother-in-law visiting from San Francisco purchased me this little pink bauble and glitter Christmas tree from Enchante. It was all glittery and cute... but it would fall all the way over when you set it up. My husband and I returned to Enchante this past Saturday with the tree and original receipt and asked the shop keeper if we could exchange it for another that actually stood up! She disappeared with it into the back room to speak with the manager. She returned and said they don't have a return/exchange policy. I reiterated we just wanted one that didn't fall over. She again repeated they had no return/exchange policy, said no and handed it back to us. I kept waiting for her to begin to laugh and happily assist us in finding a tree without a defect. She didn't. Enchanted little things indeed! That's their tag. The store is decorated to look kind of shabby chic, antiquey and just so pretty, like a piece of candy for your eyes. And some of the candies, the chocolates are nostalgic - whether in how they are wrapped or what they actually are. This shop is in a new location. They were just right down the street. I asked them how long they have been in business and she told me 44 years! That saying, I think they know about nostalgia, chocolates and other treats! Stopped in for the first time and was very impressed with the quality of the goods they make! The shop decor is very nice and the staff was very friendly. We grabbed a bunch of items but in particular the peanut butter with chocolate drizzle popcorn, and the chocolate with salted pretzel bits in it were amazing!!! The peanut butter cups and sea salt caramels were also top notch. Thank you for satisfying my sweet tooth! You've come a long way baby from Milwaukie Popcorn and Candyland. First the name change a few years ago from the common to the elegant, Enchanté. "How do you dooo?" (Which must be spoken as if you're Audrey Hepburn as a newly groomed Eliza Doolittle attending Ascot in My Fair Lady). I'm delighted to purchase your sweet and salty confections. My experience with the popcorn and chocolates has been very good. Both are made in house and are displayed in glass jars and pretty packaging. You pay by the pound, so I usually get a taste of this and that for a reasonable cost. Ever since Enchanté moved from the small shop on Main Street to the fancy and much larger store down the street, it reminds me a bit of Barbie's Wonderland in Paris. If you have an aversion to pink and sparkly things, then you may want to steer clear. But, if you want to purchase a replica Eiffle Tower, then this is the place for you, since they have them in a variety of sizes and styles. When the business is closed, they pull the shades on all the picture windows. Brilliant marketing. I'm always dying to see what is inside. This is particularly vexing since I usually visit Milwaukie on Sundays to attend the Milwaukie Farmer's Market and the business is closed that day. Of course, I completely understand the need and desire for a day of rest on Sunday, but they are really missing a fantastic sales opportunity since that is when downtown Milwaukie truly comes alive. Just like the city of Milwaukie, this store has really grown and changed over the years to where it is practically unrecognizable from its humble beginnings. I shared my enthusiasm for the chocolates, the delightful store and of course the excellent service. I commended them on the rule - $10 minimum if you need to use a credit card (I don't have one so that doesn't apply to me), however, I was glad to spend $10 in cash on fabulous chocolates, salt water taffy and truffles. My oh my it was a wonderful visit and I absolutely loved my treats. Stop by when you're in Milwaukie, enjoy the free 2 hour parking and always ask what they suggest. Update: unfortunately they are not open on Sundays during the market anymore. It's certainly the time when they would get the most foot traffic in the summer months, but oh well. Also, unfortunately the service is not consistent. We went into Enchante the other day on an impulse, tempted to buy some chocolate or some caramel popcorn but the wait was long enough, and the people behind the counter slow and disoriented enough, that we just thought better of it. This is the cutest Parisian-inspired chocolate shop! Great candy gifts for anyone! My personal favorite chocolates by the pound, surprised me! It is their peanut butter caramel (dark) chocolates. Wow. This place must be seen to be believed. I am new to Yelp, but as I have been coming to this place for the last several years, I have tried many of their candies. Everything is amazing. Chocolate-and-toffee pecan clusters, chocolate-covered Nutter Butters are some of my favorites. I'd give it 5 stars, but there is only one problem - they don't accept credit cards or debit cards! Imagine how much they could expand their business in what is already a non-cash society! Edited: Bumped it up one star; they finally accept credit and debit, which was my only complaint. Edited again: Move to a newer, better location, just a couple of storefronts down, on the corner. Edited a third time: After some long thought, this is downtown Milwaukie's only draw; in what is largely a festering town, this is store is the only special thing that Milwaukie has that isn't available anywhere else. A pearl of a find, a diamond in the rough, call it what you will -- this is the only destination in Milwaukie. And yeah, I just had a couple chocolate-covered Oreos and Nutter Butters! I really want to love this place since I grew up in Milwaukie and have since moved back. I went here for the first time since childhood last Christmas and was awed at how elegant and unique the store was. However, I was not pleased that at least one employee always seemed to be monitoring me without asking me if I needed help. I ended up going back several times after this and realized that every time someone seemed to always be straightening already perfect shelves near where I was...and no one asked if I needed help finding anything. As a professional of color that looks way younger than I am, dragging along my three year old, I've concluded that I may fit the profile of typical shoplifter...but I never thought I'd get this at this candy store! In all, I haven't gone back after experiencing this the third time. In addition, I don't feel that I'm missing much since they generally have the same products for every season, just packaged differently. Although not a fan of chains, I've been going to Sees instead for their much better customer service. read more

I would actually love to give this place my business more than once a year or so, as I work right across the street. But they have a $10 credit card minimum, and I never have any cash on me. A shame, because if they would accept cards in a reasonable manner, I'd be in there all the time. They could at least offer to take cards and have a 50 cent charge for transactions under a certain amount (like basically every other store does). I don't want to spend $10 at a time on candy, and I don't want to go out of my way to get cash just for this store (especially given that their chocolates, while pretty good, pale in comparison to other local chocolatiers who charge the about same price as these guys). I love, love, love this candy store. Handmade chocolates are delicious, if you like peanut butter cups, try their's. They have dark chocolate salted caramels to die for, and my favorite is the milk chocolate marshmallow and caramel! They have pecan turtles in dark and milk too. Just way too many to list. The best part though is the ambiance. This is the most beautiful and creative store. It's the place to go for a unique gift. I've been wanting to tell Portland about this little gem located in Milwaukie of all places. This Chocolatier is something that you would expect to find in the Pearl District or in Paris. So the only thing I can come up with is that the rent must be low and location close to Portland makes it worth the journey to find. This is a candy shop a kid would kill to live in. I've been a regular for their red licorice wheels. Something that keeps me coming back again and again. Ive had the chocolate however it is a no-no for my dietary program. You can't explore on a sunday while shopping the Milwaukie farmers market because they are closed. (some folks remember to take a day off) so stop by on a week day. read more
