Such a cute little chocolate shop! It's on private property with the owners living in the main house - the candy shop is located next to their home. They have the most BEAUTIFUL landscaping I've ever seen with some very unique (and gorgeous) flowers! They also own a landscaping company and I would hire them sight unseen just based on how beautiful their own landscaping is! Their chocolates are scrumptious and the owners are both so nice! We don't live in Canby but will absolutely come by when we visit our relative who recently moved there. Such great selections and obviously very talented chocolatier! read more

Puddin' River Chocolates is a cottage shop, located in a neighborhood. Unbelievably, their namesake is an actual river, though a most appropriate name for a shop slinging sweets too! The smouse (s'mores mouse) is worth a visit alone, and not only just to admire its adorableness. Their marshmallow is perfection, complimented by graham, and though available in milk too, the dark chocolate keeps it from veering too sweet. They have prepackaged boxes, or you can select your own. Chocolates are $2.50 each, though I was able to nab a couple discounted Easter goodies when I visited just after that holiday. There are plenty of other treats like peanut butter cups, coconut bars, chocolate bars, cookies, toffee, even wine and cheese fondue. There are only a couple parking spaces in the driveway right out front of the shop (the former garage for the house next door), but if they filled it would be easy to park along the street, too. read more

Once upon a time cocoa beans, once imported to England, were used to treat what they labeled as female hysteria. I do not know that it worked for them seeing as it was pretty shady business because honestly I'm pretty hysterical. Especially around chocolate. Maybe that's what they were doing wrong? That's what I'm talking about. Yelp politely introduced me to Puddin' River Chocolates. It's time to set Moonstruck aside and try something new. Located off of Hwy 99 in Canby. I'll drive 19 miles for chocolate. I drive further for it up to and including, off of a cliff for it. I'm shameless. I only max out credit cards on two things; vet bills and chocolate. Built on Amish family tradition these recipes are handcrafted and playfully tinkered with. They boast locally sourced ingredients and inspiration. The call out Moonstruck on not only price point but tastiness. That's a throw down right there. There is supposedly some wine and dine here but we walked into the boutique which lines the way to a massive kitchen. This works for me, I just want the damn chocolate. These chocolates are beautiful and they have some fun selections along side the mainstay truffles, caramels and barks like 'Sea Foam' (honey comb caramel covered with chocolate) and chocolate covered gummy bears. They offer different sizes to accommodate your wallet and level of cocoa obsession. My obsession cost $46 today and I have a bundle of goodies to show for it. Erin helped us and she was a sweet as the chocolates she sells. I'm just freaking in love and I'll definitely freaking be back. 2 Hours Later... Yeah. These are freaking amazing. The toffee is my favorite so far followed closely by the salted caramels and "sea foam". Best of all, the straight up 62% dark chocolate bar was absolutely flawless. Who knew quaint little Canby would have not one, but two, boutique chocolatiers in town. Ladybug Chocolates first caught my eye and it was a fun (kid friendly) shop. Puddin' River caters to the grown-up chocolate lover. This is a gorgeous store that just opened in May. It is a chocolate shop first and foremost, but also a gathering place that serves Stumptown Coffee, wine, beer, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Truffle choices and presentation are elegant and it is the type of place where you want to relax and stay awhile. I brought home some of their most popular truffles, Grand Marnier, Hazelnut, Peanut Butter and Caramel in a mix of milk and dark chocolates. All were lovely and I spent a grand total of $5. read more

I had got ahold of the Fondue from Puddin River at a local grocery store but couldn't find it again. I thought it was odd that a place known as Puddin River Chocolates would make fondue, but there it is on the bottle. Canby is not that far from my home, so I set off for the store. As I was following navigation directions I was wondering where this place is. I was heading into a residential neighborhood and not a commercial park or strip mall where I expected to find them. Well, it turns out Puddin River Chocolates is really a cottage industry. While at the store. I picked up a couple of bottles of Fondue, (You must pick this up in person as it requires refrigeration). I thought, well they are Puddin River Chocolates. I should try the chocolates as well. That was a very good decision. Puddin River chocolates are on par with or superior to anything most people have tasted. Best of all these chocolates do indeed have an Oregon theme about them. Our local flavors like Marionberry and hazelnut are featured. If you are one for high quality chocolate and haven't tried Puddin River Chocolates. You need to get hold of some, even one piece will tell you what kind of quality they are. read more

Truly charming atmosphere and elegant packaging for their chocolates. I especially appreciate the Cougar chocolate bars for Canby High School's mascot, available in milk or dark chocolate. It's good quality chocolate and wrapped in school colors. Can't go wrong with a gift from here. I'm less enthusiastic about the wine bar / restaurant aspect of Pudding River. When it's slow, the wait staff is multi-tasking with chocolate making in the back--I get it; it's a small business, and they have to multi-task. When it's even half-full, the small space gets loud. When it's full, it's deafening and claustrophobic. I prefer a quick stop for tastes and shopping--this place is perfect for that. read more

After our disappointing trip to Lady Bug Chocolate, we walked across the street to this place which is also a wine/food bar in the evenings. They have all sorts of offerings, from coffee drinks to desserts to chocolates AND and old fashioned candy bar where one can find rock candy, gummy bears and cinnamon bears. The woman working behind the counter was very friendly and offered us a sample. Daughter was intrigued by their dark chocolate covered potato chips and got a cup of them. She has declared them her new favorite food. She also tried a truffle and said the chocolate was much better than the one she tried at Lady Bug... I think we will be rollin' on this river then next time we come to town for sure! read more

Staying in wilsonville for a business trip, I wanted something local and cool without having to drive up to Portland. Just 15 minutes from my hotel I found Puddin' River wine and chocolates. The dark chocolate salted caramels are fantastic. Don't miss out on the fresh biscuits with apple butter and butter. Brewing stumptown is always good. Having sampled some of these treats and more has turned me from a first timer into a devotee. What makes Puddin' River so delightful are the incredibly friendly staff always willing to talk about wine, chocolate, and good food. They were all too happy to let me set up show and quietly read for a few hours. Reasonable prices! Coming from Los Angeles or even ten miles up the 5, I could actually afford to sample and buy. This is a great weekend getaway. We came here mid-day on a Saturday. It was very quiet inside and relaxing. They have a fireplace to make you warm and cozy. The glasses of wine are large and the chocolate is delicious. This is a good choice to come when looking for a small gift of chocolate for someone too. read more

This is a prime example of a boutique wine and chocolate shop with an added twist! They actually on specific evenings do dinner on very upscale level. The shop owner is super nice lady with a spitfire of personality who you instantly feel a kinship with. Her never ending desire to please and serve the patrons of her shop is obvious. Don't believe me, take a bite of her salted chocolate and Carmel candy or any other of her hand made chocolates. If you are looking for moonstruck chocolates at a much better price point and arguably even tastier....make the trip to Canby and have a taste! Friendly and helpful, delicious chocolates at a very nice price, beautiful shop, open for dinner three nights a week -- definitely a new favorite, and I hope to come back for dinner soon. What an outstanding surprise. This small local shop/restaurant is a gem. As others have said the people there are warm, pleasant passionate and fun. Call ahead for dinner so you know what they are going to have, as its one main dish. The night we were there dinner was a Hawaiian blue plate special. The teriyaki chicken was tender and not over salty as is often the case. I could have eaten a tub of the mac salad. But let's talk starters. As in cheese fondue.
