Can I give Cutsforth's Market a 100 out of 5 stars? I traveled an hour and a half to look for a very specific item. The store was very neat, clean, calm, and quiet. It had a really comforting feeling to it. I had asked for help from a staff and the woman walked me around the store trying to help me locate it, it wasn't until almost the end of our scavenger hunt that she had told me she's on break, but she was more than happy to help. I felt so bad, I told her to please go back on her break and I would look around myself. I was able to locate what I came in for. I asked the customer service if they had more of this in the back and the night manager had walked me to the aisle and helped me clear the shelf thinking that was all they had, only to have the man in the meat department bring out 2 cases of it. The people who work here are so incredibly kind and caring. I cannot thank them enough for helping locate and allow me to buy cases of it. My heart feels so incredibly full by how nice everyone was. I tried to order two party platters a week in advance for Christmas Eve. My dad is on hospice so I was trying to lighten my load. After the woman flipped through her orders she said she couldn't take any more because they were short staffed. Maybe update your website so that people don't rely on your 24 hour minimum notice for orders and waste their time coming in to the store. read more

I wish Cutsforth's was my neighborhood market. They have everything I want and more! It is a pleasure to shop, giving off hometown vibes, and not overwhelming in size, even though they have an excellent selection of goods. Their bulk spice and tea selection is extensive. It is crazy cheap to just refill your spice jars (and more earth friendly!) than continually buying new ones. My husband is devoted to Cutsforth's pizza seasoning, and liberally sprinkles it on nearly every meal he eats. Their baking supplies are excellent, and I was able to grab some less common flours for bread making. They carry the best dairy brand in Oregon, Alpenrose (try the chocolate milk!). Donuts and fritters are a neighborhood favorite, and rightly so. In fact, the whole bakery section looked excellent, and they even have a coffee bar with warm cookies. They carry local Puddin' River chocolates, and their gift shop is about the best I've ever seen in a grocery store. They even had some houseplants. Their wine selection is extensive, and I spied plenty of prepared foods for quick or on-the-go meals. The employees were super friendly at checkout. Prices are mid-range, but I'd be willing to pay even more for such a thoughtfully curated selection of groceries, especially with their focus on local products. read more

Our first time here today. we were attracted to the senior 10% Tuesday discount advertised in the Molalla magazine that popped up in our mailbox? So decided to check it out? Their Deli is top quality and as well fruit and vegetable dept! We spent $100+ total and among things a box of takeout fried chicken which was outstanding and certainly beats other similar from the chains? we didn't get our Senior discount though which is why I am leaving only 4 stars **** this visit, My only other critique is Cutsforth's is on the spendy side but I suppose the old adage is true that you get what you pay for? They have a fantastic bakery that I recommend to everyone I know, The hot food deli always has something delicious that I must have, The fresh meat cases have a huge variety of amazing things to choose from, And they have sugar free candies that I don't find anywhere else. Their prices are a little higher than other local stores but the quality is absolutely there to justify the slightly higher prices. The Mrs & I stopped in the Thriftway store in the Cutsforth Marketplace in Canby OR. We just needed to get a couple of items. Right off we were very impressed with how clean & neat the store is! Shiny floors & clear wide aisles. The Mrs just loved the floral/gift section. She spent some time there oohing & ahhing over their selection of flower arrangements & gifts. I must say it was very pretty with some unique items. Walking in we passed a coffee shop that just had a wonderful aroma. The vegetable section was colorful & inviting with a good selection of products. I noticed a very large selection of items in the beer & wine area. (One of my favorites!) The parking lot was neat & the restrooms were very clean. The staff was friendly & helpful. All in all we were very glad we stopped here. read more

WOW! WOW! WOW! I was new to this store. I went there because a friend told me that they have the best meat department. She wasn't wrong! But, beyond the incredible meat department (and deli, I might add) I was blown away by the customer service. I was struggling to find a few items so I asked an employee (Sean) which aisle had was I needed. Not only did he stop loading the shelves he was tending to, but he walked me to each item. One item I needed was course salt. Instead of just taking me to the box of salt (which he showed me), he suggested and showed me the bulk salts. It was exactly what I needed. Side note, the bulk items were awesome. A shout out to their high quality produce, and home goods, as well. I really can't speak highly enough of the entire experience. Support this special grocery store not just because they are one of the very few independently owned stores left, but the big chains can't hold a candle to Cutsforth's quality, variety, and customer service. I have lived in canby for 3 years now and I go to Cutsforth's to avoid the dystopian lighting and experience of Safeway and fred meyer's when I absolutely must get stuff in town. Pros: I appreciate that it's local. I appreciate that it's small. To be honest, yes, the lighting is even a pro to me. Cons: every single bread they have has toxic ingredients. Are any of the breads made with simple ingredients? Can we get some local sourdough? I'm actually mad that I have to drive to Trader Joe's in lake Oswego or market of choice in west Linn to get real sourdough. This place is sooooo overpriced too, like, truly, what? It's not even organic or good quality stuff. I have to actually go to Safeway for cheaper organic produce and I hate that place. I'm confused at the pricing. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though and say, maybe that's the price of being a small business? Please though, get some real bread. We have hosted events for 25 years and chose Cutsforth's Market Bakery for our daughter's wedding cake. Having been around the industry and seeing all the different vendors, we were demanding customers since this was the first time hosting for one of our own. The entire wedding celebration was a 10 out of 10. We cannot say enough good things about the quality and execution of their bakery team for a flawless event. We always make it a point to taste wedding cake from all the weddings we host, and Cutsforth Bakery consistently is our favorite. Their cake is beautiful, and the quality and flavor are exceptional. All weddings have something or a few things you wish you could have done differently or had thought about after the fact. We could not have imagined this wedding going any better, and the feedback from our guests has been overwhelming. Weddings are stressful in many ways, but not this one. There's a 1 maybe 2 people in the department that are pleasant to interact with, but the other ones I would rather not have to engage with. The consistency of quality is really hit or miss. There has been some orders for cakes that have really hit it out of the park, but it's been a LONG time since the last time that I was impressed with quality or presentation. I'm not sure what has changed. Sometimes the cakes that have been ordered for birthday parties or other preordered occasions are dry. Also the layers inside the cake used to be perfectly level and that is no longer the case. For over $30 dollars for a cake I would like to think the cake isn't dry and maybe is level inside. So I guess if you're ok with the cake looking like this in the inside - whatever floats your boat. read more

I usually have a very good experience with Cutsforth's bakery. They have a variety of options and work well with you to get what you want. My last order was for a bridal shower and I received what was ordered but their custom service was not good this time around. With the initial call/order I was told they only do 2 flavors for the cupcake cakes but I've gotten multiple flavors in past years. And the bride wanted other flavors then what she was offering me, and the flavors were on their cupcake list. I also didn't receive a confirmation that they received the picture of what I wanted, so I called the day before my pick up date and the lady was rude with me and told me they were blue instead of grey. When I asked for confirmation she just told me that she wasn't going to look again or open my box to make sure. I was shocked but nothing to really do about it the day before. They ended up being the correct color and tasted fine but customer service needs to step up. Ring pic is from the most recent order. Mason jar and 23 are from pervious birthday orders. 23 was messed up by us from transport and I didn't get a before picture unfortunately. read more

Service--from Joan's, John's and Ben's friendly smiles and conversations at checking to Mike's helpful advice in the deli, to the wine testings and suggestions, to the fresh fish and meat counter intelligence to Frank Cutsforth's calming, dear presence, this market helps make Canby a sweet, happy place to live. Really. Hard not to feel good shopping here, where everyone knows your name (but not in a creepy, corporate way like Safeway's marketing at check out). Atmosphere--clean, well-spaced aisles, well-shelved and stocked goods. The produce and floral departments are my favorites, but the deli, wine, natural foods, and meat departments are awesome, too. Offerings--don't see what you want? Check in with customer service, and they'll contact you when it's available--usually within a week. Don't get me wrong--they carry a lot, but if there's something I found in Whole Foods or New Seasons that Cutforth's doesn't offer, CM will go out of their way to get it for me. Really appreciate that. Community-center mindedness--one of the perks of living in a small town is the sense of community, and CM exudes that sensibility in the best manner possible--the notice boards feature current, cool happenings in Canby. Yes, Canby. There's an easy way to contribute to local schools: CM provides an easy to access space at the front of their store to donate cans and bottles, with the proceeds going to the local school district. They hire and train local youth to work in their store. It's hard for me to think of Canby without linking Canby to Cutsforth's because the business and the Cutforth family contribute so much to Canby's community. This amazing family owned scratch bakery, market and deli is the BEST! It's in Canby, OR, and they recently catered 70% of the food for a birthday party for 60 people at our home. Meat and cheese tray, dessert platter (unbelievably excellent), vegetable tray, and fruit tray. I can't say enough about the quality of the food, the presentation, the service and how great it was to work with Thomas and the wine specialist Joel Cutsforth. The prices are good, as is the selection. Of particular interest to me is the beer and wine selection! You won't find a better beer set anywhere! Find highly rated beers from local artisanal and international brewers. The wine selection, while offering all the basics you would expect, includes great import and local Micro-winery offerings. Not only are they consistently overpriced, but they wouldn't honor the price on item on their shelf, saying it had been mis-stocked (there were two stacks marked at that price). Anyway, on my last grocery adventure of '08 we came to Cutsforth's. Nice grocery store with something I had never seen before. A spice counter where you can measure just enough spice for a specific recipe or reason. Genius I say. No need to buy a whole bottle of some random spice you will only use once that gets old and stale. Freaking genius I say! I'm a widower, but even though I'm a good cook, I just don't have the time to cook as often as I like. But I can't live on fast food. And that's where Cusforth's comes in. Over by the deli is a case with prepared meals. Homemade food. A variety of entrees that changes. They have a teriyaki chicken dish that's great, and a meatloaf to die for. Enchiladas, burritos, and tamales make regular appearances, as do beef stroganoff, roast pork, and BBQ ribs. Each entree comes with a starch and/or vegetable as appropriate so you have a complete meal. Then there's the salad bar. Oh, my, the salad bar. I can't think of anything that's missing from the salad bar. They keep it stocked and fresh, and clean, too. The hot soups are another highlight. Up to four different soups each day. They do a good job of keeping a good mix of selections. The tri-tip beef soup is a special recipe that's very popular. My favorite is the split pea soup, which is way better than I could make at home. I also love their sandwich grill. The best New York Reuben you'll find outside of New York! The bakery is amazing, too. You're not going to find better donuts anywhere. The sheet cakes are amazing, too. Head over to the other side of the store, and their produce department is better than any farmers market, and it's there every day! Lots of local produce, and the out-of-season stuff that has to be trucked-in is the best you're going to find anywhere in the area, too. It's a tough world out there for locally-owned supermarkets. Some survive by finding one niche. Others survive by turning-up the snob appeal. But Cutsforth's survives by doing a great job in every department, and staffing their store with the best teams you'll ever find in the grocery business. And I haven't even mentioned the meat, wine, floral, pizza, BBQ or regular grocery departments. You just aren't going to find a better grocery store anywhere. read more

Very nice local market. Good selections with a very well run produce and deli department. Shopping there is fun with the cute little pre-made pizza counter, seasonal gift area and floral department. But what really makes my visits nice is the staff. Everyone is always pleasant and available. This is a rare find nowadays. Even on a busy day a little chitchat with the check out clerk and a smile from the grocery bagger made the experience special. Aww....the many years I've been going to this store... (70% of my life so far) I used to do chores around the house to earn quarters to ride my bike to Cutsforths to buy their red hots, lemon heads and 25 cent sodas out of the machine. Ahhhh...the good old days. I even have two friend couples who at different times worked together and met at Thriftway...both are married now ;) Love Store??? hahaha. No but really they have been a wonderful local store to Canby over the years. They buy locally, have an excellent selection, and recently underwent a wonderful remodel making it a much more fancy shopping experience. There is typically a great selection and variety of any product Im looking for. Im never disappointed and often find MANY items not on the list, jumping into my cart because they were just too new and exciting to pass up!!! Cutsforth's definitely has the flavor of a local small town grocery store. The cashiers are always friendly and I've never had a bad experience when I worked in Canby. The new Mexican Grill was a nice added touch, to go along with their BBQ and self serve salad area. The selections for hot food is real good. It also has a cafe when you walk in to order coffee, bagels, etc. for the morning. You will often see cashiers recognize and talk to their long-time customers, and the townspeople in the morning meeting up for the coffee at the cafe. My mother shops here every weekend because this place supports the community. Everyone that works here is very nice and there is a great selection of deli items. Check the expiration dates on your groceries though. Otherwise I will say that this place is great. Recently I tried one of the burritos you can get made for you at the deli.
