They generally have easy parking. I was especially happy on a night this month that we were having a birthday dinner for my daughter. She decided that she'd like a sushi night. Instead of trying to get trays, last minute, from a restaurant I ran into Fred Meyer to see what they had to offer. They had some great options ready made!! I chose a bunch of different trays and headed home to make a dinner spread. We added rice and pan fried noodles made at home and it was a great birthday dinner. Everyone was happy and a big bonus, that I ALWAYS worry about with raw fish items, no one had any upset stomachs. I've always been happy with meats, cheeses, grab and go items, and now the sushi from this specific store.

What is going on with this level of service, or lack there of totally unacceptable! I've tried complaining to management, nothing ever changes. Hire appropriate staff to cover a service you offer, or shut the service down! This is an absolute embarrassment. Also, I show up here with other people, and I'm the first one here, but my order still gets delayed. What a poor excuse for customer service. Fred Meyer, you suck!

The store itself is very basic- concrete floors, high shelving, barebones customer service. It is meant for business customers but I come here for my house- they also carry industrial/commercial strength cleaners, kitchen equipment and janitorial supplies. They don't carry electronics, entertainment, prepackaged meals, clothing or anything else of that sort. I don't mind though- I just go elsewhere for those types of items. Depending on what you value, I'd say it is definitely worth coming to this store either as a business owner or individual.

Everyone rolling in to the shop seemed to be on a first-name basis with the two cashiers. But you know from they way they received me in a casual, friendly manner, it could be that they just have that vibe with everyone. Who knows? Regardless, this is your place to score anything from beer to snacks to sodas to some hot fried foods (burritos, jo-jo's, chicken, mozz-sticks, etc) to cigs to whatever. It's bigger than a 7-11 and has way more character. Could it be that Canby still has that home-town feel? Who knows. Dawn M. I received your response however I'm not going to your website so "your team" can address my concerns. Reasons why... As my review clearly states this store has to be an underperforming business. I've lived in Canby for almost twenty years and have had numerous disappointments shopping at this store. Us discussing my recent shopping experience isn't going to fix what seems to be a systematic problem with this particular store. By looking at the eighteen reviews (including mine) on Yelp I think it is pretty clear many agree with my assessment. Current ratings- 5 stars- 0 4 stars- 1 3 stars- 3 2 stars- 3 1 star- 11 Maybe it would be best instead of a bandaid fix to my review, you share with Safeway management the above reviews so they can either choose to fix it or continue to average 1.83 stars on Yelp. If you use a grading system a"F+" is nothing anyone should aspire to achieve. As I mentioned I will continue to shop at the Lake Grove Safeway store as it is much more appealing to shop at, has never been out of stock on sales items when I have gone, has a wonderful seafood counter, wonderful wine selection, nice deli and bakery too. I can even get a yummy Starbucks coffee when shopping. read more

Containers of cut up watermelon, cantaloupe as well as whole bananas and other produce very cheap. Picked up an onion to use for that night's dinner. Didn't want to buy anything I couldn't use immediately as these veggies are a day or two away from going bad. Shelves and carts filled with canned pantry items, cereals, breakfast bars all nearing expiration - good for families that go through these items weekly. By the checkout there were some Chocolove and Theo chocolate bars. These are high end chocolate bars that usually sell for $3.99 a bar and here they were just a $1 with an expiration of Dec 2021 so I picked up two. That alone was worth the stop! Items move fast which is why the store is in a constant stage of unpacking. Huge outdoor area with produce located close to street - don't forget to check it out. In addition to produce they had 6 packs of bottled water, huge containers of pretzels, bags of dog food and other items.. Very random, no rhyme or reason, seems like items are placed where there is room. Friendly owner and staff, everyone chatting with everyone; clearly there are lots of regulars. They take credit cards. Parking out front. I missed the turn into the lot so parked around the corner by the Goodwill and walked over. This store is exactly what it is. A market that takes in items close to expiration and liquidates on the cheap. It's not New Seasons! So as long as you set your expectations and you have a need for these type of items, it's all good. For me, this was a one and done.

Also, there are always lots of cute little gifts up front. Recently, I was looking for a specific banana cake for a birthday gathering right after work. I only had 30 mins to hopefully find something and I couldn't find anything on the shelves. That's when Jennifer in the bakery department paused stocking items to run to the back and cut a slice from a large sheet. She was planning to cut it later but saw my dilemma and dropped everything to help me out. Her help really helped me out in a pinch and made the birthday gathering for my friend a success.
