I typically always use the pickup option through the app and as long as I select backups for anything they are out of, I seem to have great luck. Sometimes the produce will not be fresh but besides that, I typically always get what I requested in my order. Additionally, there are online coupons in addition to the sales. The worst staff, the store is gross, as soon as I entered the store I can smell the ocean.

Usually this store is very chill and calm. It seems to run on a skeleton crew, which is the fault of corporate and not employees, but I rarely see anyone treat staff poorly and staff does a great job making the store look well stocked and clean. Cashiers are friendly. We popped in last night to get a few last minute things at about 6:30 or 7. Self-checkout was closed early, so there was a very long line for the single, lonely cashier. Still, it looked like people were being patient and calmly waiting. Grabbing some sausage from the back of the store we could hear someone screaming profanities and throwing things around, or slamming things around. Retail sucks, we both worked many years at large retail chains, so we get it, and we just ignored it and let the guy have his moment out of the eye of customers. We got all 5 things we needed and headed to the front of the store. I picked up a loaf of bread off of the floor someone else had knocked down and just left; I joked to my friend that it would hopefully make the guy in the backroom have a marginally easier night. We lined up for checked out and someone at the front of the store slammed something down. It sounded like they just dropped an empty pallet, it was really startling. Then this employee just started coming UNHINGED, shouting over the store intercom at everyone that we needed to leave the store so he could close early because one of the other employees would be leaving in 5 minutes and he had too much sh-- to do. When he hung up the phone, he screamed that he wasn't joking and that we all needed to leave NOW as he cursed about how understaffed they were and how he had too much to do. The other two employees looked very uncomfortable, but didn't say anything. As he stormed back towards the stock room I got a very bad feeling and he literally triggered my fight or flight mode and I began to panic. My friend looked at me, confused about what to do, but I told him I really, REALLY did not want to get shot and dude was giving full-on going postal vibes/dude snapped and goes mass shooter vibes. It was one of the most terrifying situations I've been in since completing all of the surgeries and chemo for my cancer; I didn't survive all of that just to get lit up by some deranged Safeway worker with too much on his plate who clearly has no ability to cope with high stress situations. NOBODY should get mass shooter vibes off of a store employee. He shouldn't have been put in that position by management, but he also should have been vetted for his ability to handle stress before being moved up the ladder. It seemed that he was the person in charge on site at the time. I did my time in the trenches of retail and was a department manager at a huge chain for multiple black Fridays - I understand the stress. It's absolutely not for everyone. If you can't vet your leadership team and appropriately staff your store, we'll be at the Fred Meyer from now on. Absolutely appalling situation. I felt awful for the guy, but he had no right to strike fear into customers because he reacted violently and inappropriately to a run of the mill situation like being understaffed. You just cannot be kicking kiosks, dropping pallets, cursing and shouting at people and getting into a fist fight with a wall, or pallet in the backroom. Crashing out like that shows a lack of ability to control impulses and with so many people running around with guns, it's a recipe for disaster. Get this guy on leave for some mental health treatment options and start staffing your stores right. This never should have happened. Several other customers dropped what they had in line, and bailed to end up at Fred Meyers alongside us. Fix this! read more

I wanted to share ongoing concerns about the customer experience at the Wilsonville, OR location, specifically regarding the staff member named Lulu who often oversees self-checkout. Each time we've encountered her, the interaction has been consistently unpleasant--she is abrupt, unfriendly, and does not greet customers or offer a simple thank you. Her way of communication is unprofessional and sometimes even unnecessary. I have also seen her leave customers waiting while she walks away to check a price that could have been quickly adjusted, accuse customers of being confused about pricing, argue about certain item and its price tag. Yet, when she knows someone personally, she becomes cheerful and engaging. The inconsistency is noticeable. This has been a repeated issue, and I hope it is addressed so that all customers receive respectful and helpful service. Other staff members on sale floors are generally friendly if you ask them to help, but not always helpful. Usually get the quick answer: "That's all we have." read more

My wife just tried to help me out and went to get a few things at the Wilsonville Safeway. I usually do the shopping, but I had emergency surgery this week and cannot lift more than 2 lbs. She is on disability and has tremendous knee pain and was trying to use the electric cart they provide. Apparently there was a problem with the cart and a siren kept going off and no employee showed up to investigate or, help her when the cart died in the freezer aisle and kept wailing. She hobbled back to checkout and then when they rang her up, the charged her for 4 instead of 3 items and the prices did not reflect the special price on the shelf. (I have seen this a few times when shopping there. I honestly think they do not update their POS system and just charge regular prices even when there are specials. I saw a woman in tears once because they could not straighter out the pricing). When my wife pointed out the issue with the cart, the woman "in charge" (Danielle) just replied "Oh great! One of THOSE days", and when my wife waited after many people were helped, to get the register issue resolved Danielle greeted her with "Bitch! Just follow the instructions". When my wife asked the name of the manager Danielle replied "I am the manager". So my wife asked the floral department the name of the manager, and they gave her another name, and Danielle yelled across the store "She left for the day!". My wife is in a lot of pain and did not take her meds on time so she could safely drive and the woman accused her of "glaring" at her or another employee. My wife is professional and polite and would not use the kine of attitude or language spewed by this Danielle person. Completely unacceptable for anyone dealing in a professional environment or with the public. This is outrageous and going on Yelp and to Safeway corporate. At no time did anyone offer to assist her or apologize for any of the issues she had to overcome just to purchase a few items. They are off my shopping list forever. read more

Beware!!!! I have purchased several products from this store that are expired. I was sold food that is 6 month to 2 years expired over the last few months. The most recent one being today. I purchase two fruit cups 12 packs for my child. I checked the first date, and the product expired in Dec. I neglected to check the second product, and it had expired in 04/2023. I only discovered this when I opened the product and the color of the fruits and juice were extremely questionable. Ok, I really like the old time store that Safeway replaced, but oh well, it's gone. Wattaya gonna do? Safeway can have some sales. Like milk at $1.97. I mean, right now I wish my car ran on milk because it's going up 40 cents a day. In another month, it will be $6 a gallon. Go Brandon. Anyway, Safeway can have some deals, but had a bad experience with a sub sandwich yesterday. Apparently, someone forgot to take the plastic of the provolone cheese when slicing it. I got a good taste of a four inch long slither. Pretty darn dangerous if you ask me. Took it back today and got a refund, but manager was like, " Que sera sera." This store is just tired and run down. There is little attention to shelves as items are often times unreachable. I don't think the kids that work there keep an eye on stuff like that. As another poster mentioned there is a lot of socializing amongst workers and less attention to the store. The icing on the cake was a snarky checker tonight. I know it's hard to find quality employees anymore but this store needs some serious reflection and house cleaning. read more

This store has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Went shopping at the Safeway in Wilsonville for a few items around 4:00pm and people were standing in long lines to pay for their groceries. They only had one checkout out of five open, and of course their lame no-service-self-service. I'm going to stop shopping here because there is absolutely no compelling reason to come back to this hot mess. No customer service, produce and meat departments shabby and expensive, and they don't even carry a lot of quality, or popular brands. Letting Kroger gain a monopoly in a small town like Wilsonville was a big mistake. Perhaps we should petition Trader Joe's, or New Seasons to open up a store here. read more

Rude customer service over the phone, not willing to give the customer a chance to speak and then telling them outright they are wrong. It took 3 people on the phone to explain something to me about a delivery. FYI for anyone else out there- if you order online from Safeway.com, the website leads you to believe the store from your zip code is delivering the groceries. However, they are not delivered from that store in particular, at least not at 97070, they are actually from a manufacturing center that offers you the deals of the store in your zip code. So if you have a problem with your delivery, better to call Safeway.com at 1-877-505-4040 they can help locate your order. This is not the only time I have encountered not the the best customer service in this store, I have been shopping at Safeways for the last 20 yrs and this was the last straw, I will no longer be with Safeway, moving on to Fred Meyers. read more

Ordered a birthday cake a week in advance. I showed up, and had to wait for her to finish it. I even asked her if it would be easier for her if I picked a cake from the case instead. She was obviously having a bad day. The eye rolling and gossiping with a coworker was a nice touch. Yes, I heard you. The cake was late, the writing was terrible, and attitude was not necessary. Sorry Safeway, given it many second chances and don't write reviews for "Grocery Stores", but this is one time I do. Three years working in Wilsonville now, I drive from Salem. I stop here likely once every other week.. If i get in and out using the self checkout, no issues. If I need to get help, or go through a checkout, the attitude of the staff is pretty bad. Not all, but about half the time. I have had a few arrogant comments from both a checker and who I assume is a manager. No details, but very much unwarranted over stupid things like getting in line at the customer service counter thinking he was open for checkout and getting Crap for wasting his time, or asking if my membership ph number went through and getting a dirty look from some pissy checker ... ... I am NOT a loyal Safeway customer, I moved from an area where we had Stater Bros, Albertsons, Vons, Ralphs, and of course Costco. Safeway when I was a kid (40 years ago) was more of the lower cost store. Not any more, prices are way higher than most stores. And the Wilsonville staff (some of them) think way to highly of themselves. read more

8:05 came in the door by the flower shop to pick up items to make dinner. 8:15 while checking out at self check, only a few items, 3 employees were hanging out chatting about how the female employee had to work while the other two male employees told her to call the union and said that is not right, family comes first. On my way to the door by the flower shop walking in-between the conversing employees I was told to stop the door was now locked. Aren't you open until 11pm? The employee stated it was for their safety. I asked if someone was going to then walk me to my car as I, a single woman, parked closest to THAT door. They said no. You have some good employees during the day but I would say your night staff needs a bit more training. read more

Everyone knows Safeway Chinese food is bad american Chinese food. However if you ate it as a child a lot it has a nice comfort food every once and awhile. I was disappointed with this visit to the Safeway Chinese food department the rice was cold and the noodles where hard, we received the incorrect dishes we ask for although partly my fault I should have been watching closer. The containers where not full. The BBQ Beef was in literal BBQ sauce which is weird and made it yucky. I am a pretty regular customer of Safeway and have a nodding acquaintance with several of the clerks. I don't enjoy the serve yourself machines, so usually try to check out with a human being. I have found them to be friendly and courteous. Recently I was in need of a laundry product that I use a LOT of and decided I might as well ask for a case of it. I'm normally a loyal safeway customer but the employees at this particular store are so rude and cold that I travel out of town or to fred meyer for my shopping. Yesterday i was treated like an idiot when asking for a case of formula for WIC. A mom with a 6yr old and a baby on her hip asking a simple question and shes "never even heard of that before" Another time I went through the line and my total came to $23 and I paid with two 20s I was given $7 change back and when I looked at my receipt it had shown that I gave him $40 but when I asked for my other $10 in change he said that I had given him a 20 and a 10. He proceeded to argue with me and when I pointed out on the receipt that he had even entered $40 he said that it was a mistake that he entered that amount and I only gave him $30. I had to threaten to bring a manager over before he finally open the drawer and basically threw the $10 at me "to satisfy me because the customer is always right" I was appalled. I'll share one more story. I had gone to the bakery to get a fancy cupcake for my sons birthday. No one was working the counter so I asked the deli section when they would be back and I was told "I dont know, shes on a break" after asking how long it would be i was told at least 15 min. So I went to customer service to see if there was any other employees that could help me and they called over the intercom for somebody to come over and help. When I got back to the counter the girl was back from her break and both her and the deli employee were blatantly talking bad about me when I walked up. She said that the other employee "told me I'd be right back" and when I told her what she actually said I was given and eye roll and asked "what I needed" I told her I wanted one of the big monster cupcakes for my son's birthday. She grabbed one of the cupcakes out put it in a box and handed it to me. When I got to my sons school and delivered his cupcake I realized that she had given me the week old display cupcake and my son couldnt even eat it. I was so angry that I couldnt even go in and complain. I'll only be shopping here in case of emergency. If safeway cant hire friendly employees, they should set up self checkout at all of their stores. read more

This is by far the worst staff ever. I came in to buy a bouquet of balloons for my child's birthday. I went to a cash register to ask for help in the floral department. The lady called for help, 10 min waiting no one shows, a guy comes up and asks if I've been helped I said no I need assistance with the balloons. He calls Raven over that just so happens to be walking around, he comes asks what balloons I tell him, then lays the balloons on the desk not inflated and walks back to his station. I'm like what the heck happened, I go back to the register call for help again. Wait another 10 min while the guy who left the balloons is at the next register just talking. Shitty ass service. There's a huge problem with quality at this store. The fruit and vegetables have issues. Beware when something is on sale because chances are it's either on its way to being spoiled or already there. I bought strawberries on sale and they looked fine. By the next day they were moldy. There were fruit flies on the onions in the store so I didn't buy any. And I really hope no one buys the clams. It's bad enough that they overcharge for produce but overcharging for bad produce is ridiculous! I've seen vegetables and fruit literally rotting and no one is checking for freshness. I'm not a seafood expert but I do know not to buy or eat clams that are open. The clams here were all open and looked dried out. This makes me question the rest of the seafood. I hope someone decides to fix these issues soon, because if not, someone is going to get really sick. read more

The prices are high on a lot of stuff for one. The issue I've had twice now is their Rotisserie Chicken. I've gotten the shits when I eat their Rotisserie Chicken. Last one when I cut down to the bone the bone was still reddish!!!! It wasn't cooked long enough and tasted like crap!! It was tough and not tender like it's supposed to be and no flavor, usually they have a buttery taste well this one tasted like it was only cooked in the oven with no seasoning. I never leave negative reviews ever, and I debated writing this. My hope is someone in management will care enough to make this change. This Safeway (a few months ago) used to be a Lambs Thriftway, and I was really excited to see the store cleaned up with a much needed new layout. Much to my dismay I found that all the good that came from the polishing of the store was vastly diminished by the attitudes of most of the cashiers there. Because of my close proximity to this location I frequently shopped here and have been checked out by most (if not all) cashiers and have found the experience to be mostly the same. No one that works their appears to take pride in what they do and seem to not want to be there, even when you initiate the first "how are you?". Just yesterday I went through the express line only to have the first contact be a groan at the items I was about to purchase as if I was doing her some sort of disservice by picking difficult items to scan. I can understand if a cashier is having a hard day or if this time of year is stressful but for these workers every day seems to be a bad day, and this seems to be the case for almost all the staff, not just one or two experiences but weekly. My hope is that despite whatever is going on, these workers can understand they can really be a pillar for this community with the right attitude. read more
