This is a fabulous Fred Meyers, always clean, well stocked and friendly service. Maybe it's because I live in Portland where shopping anywhere is a vastly different experience, but when I am out in the burbs and decide to run errands before heading home, I'm always shocked at the vast difference in store appearance and overall experience. As an easy example, as you enter this Fred Meyers, there is a display of snack food in the area between the outside door and interior door, where the shopping carts are located. This food would be gone in a nano second if this was Portland! Seeing it there literally stopped me in my tracks! I even told a pic! The store is large, and like many Fred Meyers, some of the borders between departments seems random. Like the garden and BBQ supplies right next to clothing, but overall, it's fine. This Freddy's has a great variety of outdoor seating and seasonal items. That is what brought me here, to stop in after a day exploring gardens in Salem. My Freddy's was out of stock on the item and they had it here in abundance. Used the self checkout, left, then spontaneously decided to purchase some snack items that were in the enclosed shopping cart area, so came back through. The items did not ring up with the correct sale price and the attendant made the adjustment promptly and without question. Instantly figuring how how much to deduct so the total was accurate. I was impressed. Life in the suburbs is looking pretty good!

More than 30 people in line. One checker. Self checkout same thing

One checker again??? Why is there not enough help at this location, same story with self checkout line. Waited over 45 minutes to pay. Gotta be kidding me

Second person I saw not masked during mask mandate at this store. Won't be back.

Honestly worst part of my day every time. Rock bottom customer service. Nate is unbelievably rude. Be prepared to wait in line.

Cashiers are friendly. We popped in last night to get a few last minute things at about 6:30 or 7. Self-checkout was closed early, so there was a very long line for the single, lonely cashier. Still, it looked like people were being patient and calmly waiting. Grabbing some sausage from the back of the store we could hear someone screaming profanities and throwing things around, or slamming things around. Retail sucks, we both worked many years at large retail chains, so we get it, and we just ignored it and let the guy have his moment out of the eye of customers. We got all 5 things we needed and headed to the front of the store. I picked up a loaf of bread off of the floor someone else had knocked down and just left; I joked to my friend that it would hopefully make the guy in the backroom have a marginally easier night. We lined up for checked out and someone at the front of the store slammed something down. It sounded like they just dropped an empty pallet, it was really startling. Then this employee just started coming UNHINGED, shouting over the store intercom at everyone that we needed to leave the store so he could close early because one of the other employees would be leaving in 5 minutes and he had too much sh-- to do. When he hung up the phone, he screamed that he wasn't joking and that we all needed to leave NOW as he cursed about how understaffed they were and how he had too much to do. The other two employees looked very uncomfortable, but didn't say anything. As he stormed back towards the stock room I got a very bad feeling and he literally triggered my fight or flight mode and I began to panic. My friend looked at me, confused about what to do, but I told him I really, REALLY did not want to get shot and dude was giving full-on going postal vibes/dude snapped and goes mass shooter vibes. It was one of the most terrifying situations I've been in since completing all of the surgeries and chemo for my cancer; I didn't survive all of that just to get lit up by some deranged Safeway worker with too much on his plate who clearly has no ability to cope with high stress situations. NOBODY should get mass shooter vibes off of a store employee. He shouldn't have been put in that position by management, but he also should have been vetted for his ability to handle stress before being moved up the ladder. It seemed that he was the person in charge on site at the time. I did my time in the trenches of retail and was a department manager at a huge chain for multiple black Fridays - I understand the stress. It's absolutely not for everyone. If you can't vet your leadership team and appropriately staff your store, we'll be at the Fred Meyer from now on. Absolutely appalling situation. I felt awful for the guy, but he had no right to strike fear into customers because he reacted violently and inappropriately to a run of the mill situation like being understaffed. You just cannot be kicking kiosks, dropping pallets, cursing and shouting at people and getting into a fist fight with a wall, or pallet in the backroom. Crashing out like that shows a lack of ability to control impulses and with so many people running around with guns, it's a recipe for disaster. Get this guy on leave for some mental health treatment options and start staffing your stores right. This never should have happened. Several other customers dropped what they had in line, and bailed to end up at Fred Meyers alongside us. Fix this!

I drop in here for a snack occasionally, a croissant or cookies. I don't shop for groceries here…read morebecause their prices are high probably the most expensive in the area. But now their cookie prices are through the roof and what used to be a large, lovely bagel has shrunk down to a small thing, for $3.50. That is hilarious. And their pizza slices? $5.00 for dough that is just strange looking, dark brown on the underside and not because it's overcooked yet, that is the color. Taste is awful. Whole Foods has much better pizza slices for $4-ish. Wine and beer prices? Too high. Their wine selection is okay, but overpriced by a lot. I never thought I would recommend Whole Foods for "lower" prices, but New Seasons is ridiculous. I can buy organic for less, elsewhere. At least they're not very busy. I wonder why.

If you are like me and are looking for beans that are either Organic or GMO Free and Vegan and not in a can, then Better Bean is a great product. Can't wait until Sprouts Market caries their product line so I don't always have to go to Whole Foods or Lassens to buy them. The other reviewer here who seems to be only concerned with flavor is missing the point. To me the beans have plenty of flavor on their own and the added ingredients compliment them perfectly. I am not interested in a product that is overwhelmed with ingredients that take away from the flavor of the main ingredient. I buy them for the nutrition of the beans and the added flavor compliments them perfectly. To me, anybody who considers mentioning Taco Bell in the same sentence with Vegan and GMO Free, as the other reviewer did, can not be taken seriously. I'm concerned with what I eat and what food companies I support. Taco Bell fails to gain my business for so many reasons but as far as beans go they aren't vegan or GMO Free. I think a fast food restaurant is the last place you want to go for a vegan and GMO free bean.
