Very nice local market. Good selections with a very well run produce and deli department. Shopping there is fun with the cute little pre-made pizza counter, seasonal gift area and floral department. But what really makes my visits nice is the staff. Everyone is always pleasant and available. This is a rare find nowadays. Even on a busy day a little chitchat with the check out clerk and a smile from the grocery bagger made the experience special. I've been in this market many times, and although they do have a great deli and bakery, with very lovely cashiers, I have personally witnessed the higher ups take advantage and discriminate their employees. In my personal preference, I like to have interactions with employees that have that sparkle in their eye because they love their job, but sadly here you can tell on almost everyone's face how worn down and nervous they are because of their work. This market would definitely benefit from creating a better environment for their employees. read more

I asked for Navy blue cupcakes for my baby shower. I go and pick them up and they were purple. The lady that handed them to me asked if it was what I ordered. I told her no. They are supposed to be navy blue and not purple. She even agreed with me that they were purple and not the color I originally wanted. I handed them back to her. I was pissed and walked out crying because I was already stressed out and having a bad day. They called me and apologized that they weren't what I ordered and said they would give them to me for free. I turned around and picked them up because it was better than nothing. The picture doesn't really do it's justice. In person they were PURPLE in the picture it looks kind of blue. I appreciate them making up for their mistake, but don't appreciate how they can't follow one simple instruction. Almost anyone and everyone you ask that is local will tell you to go to Cutsforth to have cake and cupcakes made. The one time I go, they mess up. read more

Excellent local owned supermarket. Salad bar, deli, hot food bar, pizza, cheese selection, beer and wine, butcher are all well above average. Just got Boar's Head deli meat and cheeses, great move in my mind. Usually busy and the staff is quick to respond with adding cashiers to check everyone out quickly. Can be over priced in certain items. Produce section is fantastic especially all the local items from area farms. Easy to get to and since it is right across the street from the movie theatre it makes it easy to grab a beer or three before catching a flick. They serve beer or wine later in the work week. I haven't drank there but there are always people there. The also fill growlers. Better than Safeway or Fred Meyers by a mile. read more

No strange new donut gimmick, just the best maple bars, twists, bear claws, apple fritters, etc. If you are in Canby, stop by and try one or a dozen. The rest of the store is amazing too. They make a killer sandwich at the deli, and have great coffee and lattes. Shopping for groceries is great here too. It is a really special local store. Give them a try. read more

I always come out with 4 times what I went in to purchase due to great selections... like the wieners and sausage section. The store feels homey to me. This review is for the bakery department. I will start off by saying their cakes truly are delicious. There is no denying that. Pink champagne, banana, all of them--wonderful. And the prices are really competitive, especially for the quality. Why the low rating then? Because of the lack of quality in the attention to detail. I ordered my wedding cake from here, and after having a sit-down with one of their staff, going over design ideas (we were going with a tree decoration), Cody brings out an example of the leaves they have been using. It was a neat maple leaf with the colors swirled through it (reds, browns, etc.). Really looked like an autumn leaf. What leaves did we get? Unattractive pointed oblong leaves that were bland, single-colored and alternated between poop-brown and muted-wine. The color designs & shapes were NOTHING like they showed us. It is one thing if they didn't quite capture some photo we were asking them to recreate. But when they specifically SHOW us real examples of what they do, and we say, "Yes! That is perfect, we want exactly that!", and they fail to deliver on that? Poor form, I say. In the grand scheme of things, our wedding cake is not such a big deal, but it truly is one of those one-time things in life, and this bakery's failure to follow-through and maintain clear documentation lead to them dampening a key moment in life. Did you guys get a different baker !! or want happen to this deparment !! your donuts are bad/oily not very much frosting like they use to have and I call in a special order and they miss it up and did they changed how there made!! also had order a special cake this summer for a party had to throw away 3/4 no body like it !! and also Canby Cutsforth's baker did not follow the special orders on what we wanted for the cake so it was made all wrong... I love Cutsforth's. They have an excellent beer and wine selection, as well as many specialty items you will not find in another grocery store. There are a handful of staff that have worked there since I was a child. Cutsforth's also gives so much back to the community as well. The only negative I have is my experience with the bakery. I ordered two dozen very simple lemon cupcakes with yellow buttercream frosting. I even emailed a picture of it. I arrived the morning of the event to find that they did not make what I had ordered. I had to scramble to find an alternative. They did try to fix the mistake, but their fix did not work. They discounted the cupcakes $5. I should have just not taken them, but I was hoping that the fix would work. In the end, I was stuck with 2dozen cupcakes that I paid $20 for. I would not recommend their bakery, since they cannot even get a very simple cupcake order correct. Very disappointed. Their baked goods are wonderful, just don't expect much from their special orders. I have a 3/5 simply because I am very frustrated with the situation, but will probably come back and change it to 4/5. The store really is an awesome store read more

I really like Custforth. From the friendly staff to the delicious food they offer. I really love this store. Their lunch options are plentiful and I can not get enough of their soups. If you are having a wedding or special event, I would recommend their catering services and the bakery department. They did our wedding cake and cupcakes. They were delicious! After a really bad experience at a local butcher shop, I went to Cutsforth market meat department and ordered a variety of meats freezer wrapped. The young lady at the meat counter took my order and told me she would have it ready for me later in the day. I recieved a call from her about an hour later indicating it was ready for me to pick up. This is quite honestly the best store in Canby. They have a great understanding of customer service and work very hard to earn my business! read more

Love Cutsforth's. Love being able to support a local business whose owners give so much back to the community. On top of that, in terms of quality products and atmosphere, this is THE BEST grocery store in town, period. The deli is awesome and the highlight of the store. It might actually be one of the better places to eat out in town! Though it is not on their deli menu, every morning they make biscuits and gravy from scratch that are incredible. Huge hunks of sausage and perfectly seasoned gravy. The hamburgers made to order are excellent and so is the salad bar. The take and bake pizza made fresh has a unique sauce that I really like. I try to buy all my groceries here. It is true that it may be a little more expensive than F.M., but can you really expect a family run business to compete with that corporation? Cutsforth's also treats it's employees very well. Many of them have worked there most of their lives and there is not a question that stumps them. I really don't understand why anyone in Canby would shop anywhere else. read more

The bakery was recommended by a friend for cakes, so I ordered my kids birthday cakes from there last weekend. Not only were they super cute and reasonably priced for custom cakes, they were absolutely delicious. The store also is large, well laid out, clean, the produce section is gorgeous, and everyone is so friendly! I wish I lived closer! read more

I ordered my daughters' wedding deli spread and thought I was all set but a week before the wedding due to an unexpected situation had to ask them to provide the wedding cake as well. Not only did they deliver on time and for a reasonable price, by only a photo they were able to exactly copy the requested special design, shape, layers and real flower topping. The catering crew from the deli stayed on to keep all their food fresh, as well as fill the pop we brought, clear plates, take the cake in back to cut and serve the guests, brought to-go boxes for guests to take food, and helped clean up as well! Got my wedding cake here and always recommend them to my friends.... but no longer. I called and asked for them to do a gender reveal make and the baker said they only need 24 hour notice. Drove up from Salem three days before the event to personally order and the baker (whom I talked to I'm the phone) said I missed the cut off by a day. They make everything on Tuesday. I asked her why she didn't tell me that on the phone when I called and she said because I didn't "specify". I guess I'm supposed to know when they bake cakes? An apology would have been nice but this lady is ALWAYS in a bad mood. read more

Cutsforth's products, services and customer service are supreme. They make the best donuts in town. I once placed a special order for donuts with specific colors and writing on it for my daughter's birthday. There was no extra charge for the special order. When the frosting color came out way off, they fixed it immediately. I've since placed another special order, and they were perfect. Their coffee from the espresso section is great. The balloons are inexpensive and the floral service is always good. They are highly involved in the community. For instance, they often have coloring contests, and they call the winners to give them their prize. They also have many local offerings...like milk, honey, produce, skincare products and more. Beware when ordering a cake with whipped cream frosting. We ordered a cake with whipped cream frosting and when we picked it up and started eating it realized it was not whipped cream frosting. We called to find out why it was not whipped cream they said it was nondairy whipped cream frosting. It tasted like Crisco with powdered sugar mixed in. All the guests said it was awful. The only thing Cutsforth would do is give us 10% off our next order. That is not good customer service and I would never order anything from them again. read more

Cutsforth's has to be one of the Best Local stores that exist today. They still know your name and care who you are. I ordered a Prime Rib roast, paid for it and forgot it at the store. I never thought about it again until an hour or so later one of the store owners rang my door bell to deliver the roast I left. I had an unlisted phone so he had to go to the fire department and learn my address to deliver it. That is going way out of his way. I have been a loyal shopper for 23 yrs and will continue to be.
