    Picnic Basket

My coworker and I were walking along the road after eating at Filbert's and were very intrigued by a new spotting of Granny Fi's storefront. There were British fans strung all along the parking lot with signs promising delicious shortbread. As we came closer, we could smell butter and caramelized sugar wafting through the door. We made a quick stop inside just to see what kind of selection they had. The owner greeted us with such enthusiasm, explaining that she had only recently opened the high tea room and her shortbread cookie recipe spanned back from her mom's days in Edinburgh. There was everything from traditional flavors to chocolate ones, even some vegan. Then we spied the high tea and picnic menus and knew we had to make a reservation to return here for our next foodie experience. The day of our get together, the owner called to let her know a major accident had occurred in Aurora and to be careful getting here. Luckily it cleared by the time we hit the road. However, there was a controlled burn just down the road that was mucking up the air. It was so smokey, our outdoor picnic had to come inside. The backyard looked so quaint and whimsical, but we would have to wait another time. The staff had no problem relocating us. They apologized for not being to accommodate us outside. Regardless, the interior was so charming. Most of the walls consisted of enlarged photos of some buildings and streets the owner personally took in the UK. Multiple tables and chairs were antique mix and match sets. Our teas were served in some cute floral sleeves. And our food came in Tupperware tucked inside a picnic basket. The coronation chicken was a little dry. It did have some of that nutty tang but was lacking in curry sauce. The scotch eggs were super delicious. The egg was perfectly boiled and wrapped in some well-seasoned sausage. The fried coating on the outside held together well. Lastly there were also some cucumber sandwiches. For dessert, there was fruit cake, which I'm not a fan of. They are always dry with an excessive ratio of candied fruit clusters. But the shortbread was great. No matter what flavor they were, they were buttery, and broke apart in your mouth in all the right places. I am glad we stumbled upon this cute place. Would love to return again at some point!

I love every flavor of shortbread that I have ever got at Granny Fi's, but I will say that you don't want to miss out on Pumpkin Spice this fall season. It's a great gift idea as well!!

Absolutely perfect afternoon tea experience. The food was great, notably: the scones!! Tomato sandwiches (& I don't even like tomatoes), and the shortbread. It was everything tea should be, and the space is so cozy and nicely decorated. Service was great, they even accommodated my last minute vegetarian request, and the owner is very friendly. We left with so many bags of shortbread on our way out-you have to try the savory cheese & onion!

Granny Fi's is expanding - now includes A Spot of Tea and is in Aurora, OR Took my grandkids in for a spot of tea. Lovely new location - tea room full of character- a sitting room.

Came here with three of my girlfriends over the weekend and it was a better experience than I'd imagine. This is my first time attending a high-tea, but the $40 was worth the experience. The little place is so cute, with variety is tables & lounge areas where you can host small and large groups. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, of course walked us through the entire ordering process. My favorite part was we didn't feel rushed to enjoy are the baked goods that were brought out. Host took the time to explain each time, and made good tea recommendations that were decaf along with their flavor notes.

We chanced upon this place while we we were on our way to Chug coffee after our trip to the tulip festival. And, boy am I glad that we stopped and went in. This place is literally short red heaven. They have shortbread of every flavor you can imagine and also offer samples. After trying a bunch of samples I ended up buying the traditional shortbread, hazelnut shortbread and the millionaires. Every single one of them was buttery and delicious. They also have vegan and gluten free options available for folks who have dietary restrictions. The person at the store said that they are in the process of converting the place next door into a tea room and I just can't wait for that. Overall, if you like shortbread, this should definitely be a place on your list to visit!

All four sandwiches were really tasty from the bottom tier, the middle tier was probably my least favorite, the top tier had all the sweet treats. They also offer a children's tea service which had a lot of great options. The tea was fantastic (we ordered the Darling Darjeeling), but I wish we could have gotten one tea pot per adult instead of sharing one with the tea service. My daughter loved her apple and honey tea. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and they offered hot water refills more than once which was nice. The tea room was chic and very clean. Location was a little hard to find. Waze and Google Maps took me to the back parking lot, but the signage was on the street side of the building.

They have a beautiful garden out front and they harvest the herbs and produce they grow there for their menu items. We got to try two recommended teas, the Darling Darjeeling and Moonlight Juhi. The staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable as they described each of the food as well as the teas to us. I highly recommend coming here if you're looking to spend a lovely time celebrating something special!

The tea service is beautifully presented, with lovely tiered trays of savory bites, sweets, and pastries that make the whole afternoon feel like a real occasion. What stood out most was how relaxing and elegant the experience felt without ever seeming stiff or overly formal. The teas were excellent, and the whole service invited you to slow down and enjoy yourself. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, talk a little longer, and order one more pot of tea. There's a charm to Skywater that is hard to fake. It feels welcoming, peaceful, and carefully done in all the right ways. For a special outing, a celebration, or just a beautiful afternoon treat, their high tea is a delight. Five stars.

So I don't visit a lot of antique stores, but I do enjoy escaping to the country and was intrigued by the description of this cafe and store. They have a lunch special that includes your choice of panini, soup or salad and gelato for dessert, all for under $10. One very nice lady works in the cafe and it took about 15 minutes to prepare our food. So you are left to wander the two-story house filled with antiques. Not a bad marketing strategy. The space is confined, but the items are well ordered. It is just not my thing. There are three small tables in the cafe and the food was only okay. The highlight would definitely be the gelato and you have your choice of two flavors from six offered with your meal. Part of the reason for the ho-hum review is that I can't help but compare them to White Rabbit Bakery just down the street. White Rabbit is a bakery that happens to serve amazing sandwiches. Scatter Creek is an antique store that happens to serve okay food. So come for the antiques and stay for the gelato.

If you come here, do not be in a hurry, since there is one sweet, kind lady running the antique store and cafe. So come with patience. I ordered their special. A Soy Chocolate Peppermint Latte. YUM!!! I have two other gals at my office who can't have milk, so I raced back to share with them. It is rare to find a perfectly crafted soy coffee beverage in this area. What a surprise!!! First (because I love to have my dessert first) I had their fat free, boysenberry sorbet which was also milk free. YAHOO!!! Secondly I ordered 1/2 an Italinan wrap. She made it taste wonderful even with the removal of the cheeze and cream cheese. The total for the coffee, sorbet & Italian wrap was 13.00. It would have been a better price had I cut some of my calories out ;) But who in their right minds would do that??? As I enjoyed my meal, I also couldn't help but eye some fellow diner's soup & sandwich meals that were brought out. They had their Creamy Asparagus soup in charming ceramic white handled soup bowls, and the bread looked SOOOOO luxuriously fluffy on thier panini's. I really enjoyed my time & meal here. It brought a nice calm to the middle of my busy Tueday work day. I will be back again.
