I'm no Billy Bob Thornton. One of his many quirks is a fear of antiques, but I do practically climb the walls in a cluttered environment. So I don't visit a lot of antique stores, but I do enjoy escaping to the country and was intrigued by the description of this cafe and store. They have a lunch special that includes your choice of panini, soup or salad and gelato for dessert, all for under $10. One very nice lady works in the cafe and it took about 15 minutes to prepare our food. So you are left to wander the two-story house filled with antiques. Not a bad marketing strategy. The space is confined, but the items are well ordered. It is just not my thing. There are three small tables in the cafe and the food was only okay. The highlight would definitely be the gelato and you have your choice of two flavors from six offered with your meal. Part of the reason for the ho-hum review is that I can't help but compare them to White Rabbit Bakery just down the street. White Rabbit is a bakery that happens to serve amazing sandwiches. Scatter Creek is an antique store that happens to serve okay food. So come for the antiques and stay for the gelato. read more

Tried this lovely spot for lunch today, as promised. I sat in the cafe area in the back listening to some relaxing music while cross-wording ;) as I waited for my order. If you come here, do not be in a hurry, since there is one sweet, kind lady running the antique store and cafe. So come with patience. I ordered their special. A Soy Chocolate Peppermint Latte. YUM!!! I have two other gals at my office who can't have milk, so I raced back to share with them. It is rare to find a perfectly crafted soy coffee beverage in this area. What a surprise!!! First (because I love to have my dessert first) I had their fat free, boysenberry sorbet which was also milk free. YAHOO!!! Secondly I ordered 1/2 an Italinan wrap. She made it taste wonderful even with the removal of the cheeze and cream cheese. The total for the coffee, sorbet & Italian wrap was 13.00. It would have been a better price had I cut some of my calories out ;) But who in their right minds would do that??? As I enjoyed my meal, I also couldn't help but eye some fellow diner's soup & sandwich meals that were brought out. They had their Creamy Asparagus soup in charming ceramic white handled soup bowls, and the bread looked SOOOOO luxuriously fluffy on thier panini's. I really enjoyed my time & meal here. It brought a nice calm to the middle of my busy Tueday work day. I will be back again. read more

Like most people, I enjoy being pleasantly surprised when I wander off the beaten track. While pausing to explore a few antique shops in Aurora (just east of I-5's Exit 278), we stepped into an antique shop that had been a two-story home in the past, and discovered we could also enjoy lunch there. The menu was very limited, as was the economy of space, since the lunch area is a converted porch with just a few small tables. We placed an order and wandered about the shop for 15-20 minutes, finding a few small, irresistible purchases. By the way, you know you're getting old(er) when some of the antiques and dust-catchers on the store's shelves were toys you played with as a youngster. We brought our purchases to the counter and our lunch (panini sandwiches, soup, gelato and coffee) was ready. Having overlooked breakfast, we were certainly ready for lunch, and we enjoyed everything before us, but I will recommend this primarily as an antique shop with a very pleasant atmosphere, not as a restaurant. They do not serve dinner because the shop closes at 5 or 6 PM, depending on the day. We were there for about 45 minutes but (as I recall) we were the only customers. Perhaps the wet, chilly weather kept others from beating a path to the door. If you enjoy shopping in an unhurried atmosphere, and need a bite to eat to sustain you while doing so, I recommend this little shop. If antiques or knick-knacks interest you, I recommend Aurora for shopping, since there are several antique shops clustered in the community. read more

Wow! You'd is an eclectic shop and restaurant that is run by a family. Being so small, the service is a bout slower, so if you are in a hurry, you might want somewhere else. But if you want a place to relax and chat a whole, then come on in! The food is amazing, wonderful sandwiches and paninis, soup, and gelato. And the process are quite decent! If you pass through Aurora, it is certainly somewhere you will want to stop. read more

I know these antique shops are tiny, but the cafe/gelato ordering area is literally right inside a tiny Victorian era doorway. I stared over shoulders at the lovely churned confections for several minutes while other customers agonized over their choices before finally deciding my time was worth more and no gelato was worth the claustrophobia. Had a truly horrible experience at this establishment this afternoon. Unbelievably rude service in the cafe. We placed our order for gelato and paid. Several more customers came in and ordered and had their orders filled. Ours still hadn't been started. After waiting 15-20 minutes (for 3 scoops of gelato) we asked how much longer it would be. I was told, "be patient!" When I asked if I could have a refund because there was no indication of our order being started I was told, "back off!" She refused to refund my money because she "didn't know how". We left with no refund of my $9.75 and no gelato. Aurora is a wonderful town that many tourists visit. How awful that this may be the impression left on these people. This business doesn't even deserve one star. read more

Delicious lunch, half panini, tomato basil soup an hazelnut chocolate gelato!

I took a friend to lunch here earlier this month. The food was nothing to write home about. The soup came out of a box and was not even homemade. I observed that the woman making our food kept wiping her nose on the back of her hand, which definitely bothered me. There were ants crawling on our table & in the window sill next to our table while we ate. Apparently whoever processes the credit card receipts is quite dishonest, as I discovered on my credit card statement that I was charged an extra $5.00 over the amount that I authorized on the day of our lunch. read more

Wow!!!! what a great little quaint shop. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food is really GOOD!!! ... the gal that owns and run's the shop is helpful, and an excellent cook. I had the special a paninni sandwich, with a small Greek salad with some yummy homemade dressing and last the best gelato I've ever tasted. Homemade eats, great hospitality, excellent atmosphere and the absolute best prices in all of Aurora antique shopping!!! I'll be back for sure, and will bring a few friends too!!! The food was mediocre. The service very very slow-she wanted us to shop the odds and ends in the shop while waiting for our panini and soup. The soup tasted like it came out of a box. The sandwich was dry and uninteresting. The gelato was okay. There is not a lot of choice in Aurora but wouldn't go back here. read more

A delightful place to relax and take your time looking at the nice selection of antiques and gifts (including the usual, plus rare books, dolls, etc.). The cafe was very nice as well, and I especially enjoyed the Gelato ice cream. The store is small, but easy to navigate. The atmosphere was very friendly. The store and cafe are in the Historic Jacob Miley house, so it is worth going there to see that as well. I highly recommend it. read more

I would like to first say that this review is based strictly upon our treatment while visiting ScatterCreek Junction this afternoon. My husband, my one and a half year old son and I spent the day in Aurora visiting a multitude of shops and interacting with many of the friendly individuals running them. Unfortunately, at our last stop (ScatterCreek) our experience wasn't quite as sweet. My husband was pushing my son in a small stroller and was chatting with him as we walked about the store, when the woman working there turned to my husband and curtly said, "Excuse me, but I am on the phone." Shocked, we said nothing as the woman turned and started dialing out (on the phone call she hadn't yet started), but we did promptly leave as it made for a quite uncomfortable situation. At less than two years old, I can say that my sons voice was spirited, but definitely not inappropriate for the setting, nor worthy of hushing from anyone, particularly a business professional. Not only was it an unfair way to interact with my family, but it was an unfortunate way to leave a first impression. I truly hope this individual was just having a bad day and that this isn't her preferred method of interpersonal communication, but considering there are a dozen other antique stores within the proximity of a stones throw from Scattercreek Junction, I would prefer to take my business to a more welcoming establishment. read more
