I love going to this place for milk teas whenever I'm in the area. Their teas are pretty good, and they have some interesting smoothie like drinks. Personally, I like the Grapefruit slushie with aloe and tapioca. The biggest cons that come to mind are: sometimes the line's really long (and that usually means it's crowded inside, the place is kinda small), and they seem a little shady about their 'Five Star' rewards program (so if you get your card swiped, try to ask how many points you had/have, sometimes they just take your card but don't add any points to it. read more

Three Stars Fun place to hang out and boba-it-up. Toast and various food dishes proved delicious. Nothing too special though. read more

Best bubble tea in the south bay. Tea always is good, tapioca is top-notch, and a great value. Recommended highly after any meal in Mountain View. read more

The pregnant/beer-gut stricken girl behind the counter needs an attitude adjustment. Yeah, all of you know the one I'm talking about. She tries her little heart out to give you the "stink eye" but fails in every way. The same one who acts as if you've called her a "_(*#&$@(*#(*&_" when you actually ask a very simple, straightforward question in a polite manner. Management should fire her or stick her in the back where she belongs so she can do whatever it is that's so much more important than doing her job like a civilized human being. read more

The milk tea here is just ho-hum. Yes, the larger size is great when you're thirsty, but the milk tea is sometimes diluted, sometimes powdery. Inconsistency is not the way to go. The food is decent as boba shop snacks go. I give them a plus for food variety because when you're looking for a small snack, its always nice to have more food options (mini bentos, Taiwan toast, etc.) aside from the usual fried and peppered chicken/squid in a bag. read more

This Verde is pretty much nothing compared to the one in Tino. It was small and crowded and not very inviting. The cashier was awkward and made it seem like he didn't want to be there. I got the plum tea because I was craving something sour and tasty, but there was a strange taste about it. *shrug. The regular PMT was alright, but the tea didn't taste fresh and there was too much milk so it was bland. Maybe because we came late at night around 11, but isn't that when places like this should be doing better business? It was pretty much empty. read more

I don't care so much about how cramped the place is, or how bad the service is. Verde is about Boba that is simply the best value for the dollar you pay! My favorites right now are the rose, hazelnut, pearl and green tea. read more

Verde is a hugely popular boba spot off of Castro St. in Mountain View. Even in the middle of the night, there will be long lines stretched out the back of it. It really is something else! As hugely popular as it is, the seating is very, very limited, and doesn't amount to nearly as much as there is interest in this place. Plan on getting your boba to go, as you will have a very difficult time finding seating if you plan on staying; even if you do find seating, it will be in very close quarters with some of the other patrons. The seating itself isn't anything special. Wooden chairs and tables along with booths on the outside of the restaurant make up the seating area. It's not anything that you'll miss if you get your boba to go. Service is quite friendly. The menu is very expansive, so it's sometimes difficult just to choose from all the options, but ask for a recommendation from the person behind the counter, and you'll get on the right track. The flavors are good. They're all very sweet, of course, but they do have a great flavor to them. One of my favorites is the kiwi! It's a nice little treat as a dessert or a snack, although asking them to cut the sugar may be advisable if you're trying to watch the calories! read more

Did not want to sell tofu and rice because they did not want to "clean up late". Horrible service. Better off going to Tap X one block down by red rock cafe, or diving to milpitas for the other Verde with better service. I normally do not give bad reviews but the service and quality of food is so bad I would not recommend this Milk Tea house to anyone. Drive 10 minutes to the one in Cupertino where the staff is friendlier, the building has been renovated with new TV's and tables, and will be happy to make food at night! read more

Worst service ever. I asked 5 seconds after ordering if I could have my tea unsweetened because I'm diabetic. Girl making the tea said order it unsweetened next time. I took a sip and saw she hadn't changed it. I had to throw it away. She said 'ok' completely heartlessly. NEVER AGAIN. This is the Verde at Villa and Bryant, not the Hope St. location. Just happened- I can't believe it. read more

probably my solid/go to boba place in mountain view. solid drinks, but it's cash only!

This is my fav little boba shop to come to with my friends, we really like the boba and fries!!!

I come here all the tine! It's good quality, and has a good vibe. They have some games like cards, connect 4, and jenga. It makes this place a perfect cheap date with my boyfriend, but it's equally nice as a place to come and study by myself for an hour or two. read more

Once again, Mountain View is undergoing some changes...What happened to all those high school kids in their bed wraggled clothing? Why aren't they hanging out at the renovated Verde anymore? Are the formal looking mahogany colored wall panels or the upholstered booths deterrants to casually enjoying the milk tea? The pearl tea here is great and with the renovation, I think the crowd may have thinned somewhat. In spite of the recent changes, I can still hear the blender go really loudly when mixing some beverages. I think I will head back here again to enjoy the more serious ambiance, at least to what it used to be... read more

I'm not a fan of pearls in my tea, though I bravely tried this strange stuff again here. Hmm. The next time I came back, I tried coconut milk tea, and it was moderately tasty but the flakes of stuff did not appear to be real coconut, nor were they particularly appealing. The fried chicken nuggets I ordered were affordable and plentiful, but seemed to be composed about 40% of yummy greasy fried stuff, 50% of somewhat tasty chicken fat, and 10% of something that may or may not have been actual chicken meat, it was a bit difficult to tell. I'd have given a resounding thumbs up on this hellishly-unhealthy concoction if I'd been drinking a lot beforehand, but without alcohol impairment and the odd cravings that go with it (so I hear), well, I don't think I'll be ordering this again. The "chocolate" toast, well, 'twasn't to my liking at all (just sickly sweet), but I'm guessing this is a cultural comfort food kinda thing that I just can't appreciate, sort of like how we yanks love peanut butter but my European friends find it to be inexplicable and disgusting. I could imagine going back, just to satisfy my curiosity re: the 4200 different varieties of teas and smoothies, but am not especially excited about the place. read more

I Love Verde :) I frequent this Milk Tea Cafe whenever I'm in downtown Mountain View--which is often! Too often in fact. I go as often as I go to fuel my Starbucks addiction. At one point, I was going as often as every other day. I had to give myself a Verde Allowance ;) They have a huge selection of Milk Teas, Teas, and blended Espressos :) Their fruit teas are very good. The snacks are good :) I thought the chicken was on the salty side...I don't think I'll be trying that one again. The con: They charge a minimum when you pay using a credit card. That really sucks, hence the -1 star, since I rarely carry cash. Also, merchants may not impose any minimum or maximum charges on VISA/MASTER CARD/AMEX. It's ILLEGAL, they HAD to agree to this when they got their cash register/credit card terminal. (I know this because credit cards are something I have to work with every freaking day. I.e. accounting) For that reason, my Verde visits went from every other day to once a week. $5 on milk tea is expensive :( I only go when I'm with another person. I don't mind spending/treating myself and friend to Verde, but it's not worth paying them using a credit card when I'm by myself. Shady. read more

Currently utilizing Verde Tea Espresso Bar's wi-fi, holla! I love love boba and for me to find an Asian tea place near Stanford that is open a bit late makes llife bearable as a young adult around Palo Alto (I'm from LA if you know what that means...) I really like how they have a wide range of flavor selection and what type of things (boba, bricks, etc.) you can put in your drink. They also have hot tea boba which is new to me, I haven't tried it though. I can smell the sweet, caramelized scent of brick toast from the kitchen and I'm super excited to taste their desert and food selection soon. The place is open "late" during the weekends so it's a good place to hang out with your friends when you are bored to death late at night and it's also a place to do work, i.e. if you are a student around the area. They have free wi-fi, hence I'm reviewing it here. They have a TV so this is not a great place for folks who are accustomed to quiet places... Parking around the place is convenient and easy to find. There's a public parking building next to it so you don't have to fight for someone to park around the side walk. Would I ever go back here again? Verde Tea will be my go to place until I graduate! read more

Came here around 1pm today and the line was out the door but moving pretty quickly. Service was pretty fast and drinks were also made promptly. I ordered a watermelon juice which I feel is alright. I liked Verde better in the past though because the current Verde now has a sign saying no games, no card games, and no [something else, don't remember what] which is sort of disappointing since you can no longer hang out there to play board games. read more

Service is crappy. Drinks are good. But I guess you expect crappy service from milk tea joints. I hate pearls/boba/bubbles, whatever you want to call it. So I always always always ask for NO pearls. I've had people mess up my drink a few times and accidentally put pearls in my drink. So when this happens, I ask very nicely for the workers to just scoop the pearls out. They fix their mistake, but they act like it's my mistake. When I was asked if I wanted pearls in my drink, I very clearly said NO and have witnesses to confirm that I said no. The workers insist that I said yes. Yes and No don't even sound similar. I don't even use the same muscles to say Yes/No. They even wasted more energy by arguing with me to say that I actually said Yes. What's the goddamn point? Just because you say it enough times doesn't mean it's true. I said No! It's much more likely for workers to go on auto pilot and automatically give pearls (especially since most people want pearls)....so whenever I order milk tea drinks I always EMPHASIZE and almost yell the words "NO PEARLS." -_- read more

Verde is one of the best tapioca places I been too. In my opinion, the tapioca balls makes or breaks the drink. I try my best to make a quick Verde stop whenever I'm in the south bay. They have a extensive menu of drinks to choose from, serves delicious food (although pretty expensive), has a hip decor, and is the only tapioca place I know that accepts credit cards! read more

Verde Tea Cafe - Cafes Near Me - Mountain View, California

We are in the area a lot, so I've been curious what the fuss is all about since there always seems to be a line out the door here. Tried a few different things here (crispy chicken, toast, freezes with pearls, shave ice, etc.) a few different times because I really want to like this place, but each time is pretty much the same for me... 1) service is S L O W, from waiting in line to get your order in, to actually waiting for your number to be called for your order. 2) service is not very friendly either, I kinda feel like cattle every time I've stopped in. 3) I like to get the freezes because they are tastey here, but the problem is that they don't blend them very well, so I keep getting chunks of ice stuck in the straw. Meh. For what you get, which isn't bad, just not great either... I'm just not willing to wait in that long, slow-moving line! ;) It's just not that worth it to me... read more

Remember when this place used to be good and super asain? The good old days about 7-10 years ago? Before they changed it into a starbucks look-a-like? *sigh* This place has now turned into a money machine and that is it. The tea sucks now and it overly sweet and basically just flavored syrup. The plus is that they do offer a lot of different flavors which can be fun and they have a lot of different good fried food that you can eat with your tea. Another thing that differentiates this place from the othe tea places: their "large" size could fill 3 people haha. So if you're looking for something cheap chip in with a couple friends for a large. Trust me, its huge. The service has also gone extremely downhill. The people at the cash register look seriously annoyed 90% of the time. They think its ridiculous when I ask for longang tea (spelling, sorry) because it is on the menu but they don't carry it. No one has bothered to fix that. They also just look like they want to get you out of their sight as fast as possible. The place has signs around saying: No Cards, No Loud Noise, and No something else... they are trying to make this place in to a coffee shop where people study. No one in their right mind would try to study here, it is f-ing loud without people talking. All the blenders in the background aren't as soothing as they think it may be. Overall, I come here as a last resort now. May even go to tapx before here for more ample seating with friends. read more

I usually get my teas to go just because there's not a lot of seating and it's usually pretty packed. This particular Verde is my favorite. They are always consistent with their drinks. I've worked at a couple of different milk tea places back in the day and so I am pretty particular about my teas. Verde has one of THE best taro and almond milk teas out there. Not powdery AT ALL. Tea flavor is apparent and not overly sweet either. PERFECTION! I also like that they have a GOOD tasting papaya milk tea too. I've tried other places before and they've just been gross. I also love how their regular cup size is most other people's large size and their large size is HUMONGOUS! Oh and they're part of the Five Stars program! The only bad thing I have to say about Verde is their yam fries sucks! Dry and powdery. Other than that, LEVEE Verde. You are now my go to for milk tea! read more

I don't know if we went during closing time (~11 pm) but the milk tea and boba certainly got degraded. The first time I came here I was impressed by the quality of the milk tea and the softness and tenderness of the boba. The milk tea was charged at a reasonable rate too. This time I came here the milk tea was watered down and the boba was too soft and flavorless. I ordered the sesame milk tea with boba. The sesame was not mixed in well with the boba so It was hard to taste the sesame and milk tea together. When I got my drink and was hanging out with some friends, a guy who looked like he was high or on cracked sat down and kept on commenting our conversation. He was sitting diagonal from our table. It was until 15 minutes the cops show up and took him out. He was harmless but definitely a slight disturbance in Verde. I might come here again when it is not during closing time so maybe I won't get the bland taste of milk tea again. read more

The best boba tea around. Much better than Tapioca Express. The coconut milk tea with tapioca pearl and the hot almond milk tea are my favorites. I usually don't like other places' version of the almond milk tea because it often tastes so sweet and artificial. But not here! Tried 2 Taiwan thick toasts recently: butter garlic and blueberry. The butter garlic was by far the best...how garlic bread should be in my opinion! The blueberry was ok, but that's because it was very jammy and didn't taste natural. read more

My favorite milk tea place in the bay area! I usually get the pudding milk tea with grass jelly. Their milk tea is frothy and sweet without not very much tea in it. so some people may not like it. I also tried their fruit tea before, but I wouldn't recommend it as much as the milk tea here. read more

Actually gross. The mint green tea was so artificial I took one sip and felt a little nauseous. Thankfully they replaced my drink. Was so traumatized that I didn't want to take a chance on another flavored drink, so got the plain unsweetened green tea. Even that was not very good (real bitter), so no wonder nothing created on top of that base would be too great. Sweet potato and yam fries were coated in some thick, strangely seasoned batter that made for a very odd and jarring savory/sweet flavor combination. I usually like sweet and savory/salty but I think it was the batter itself -- and not the combination of it w sweet potatoes -- that made the fries disgusting!! Could only stand ~2 pieces then tossed the bag. Didn't bother talking to the cashier about this, just wanted to get out of there and move on with my life. Other food looked like it was coated in the same batter so maybe it goes better with chicken or tofu, but I can not recommend the fries at all. Overall very disappointed and will not return. read more

Six or eight years ago, Verde was much simpler in theme but felt more like the community oriented tea houses I am used to and enjoy. As other reviewers have noted, the new remodel might work well for a chic upscale Asian bistro, but falls flat in what is basically a teen and early-20-something hangout. Difficult to navigate, and if you're generously-bootied as I am, do yourself a favor and pop into the back door at Zucca to use the restroom. Slender people are even uncomfortable here and though there is wireless, people tend not to stay long or seem to feel very comfortable being at tables chatting. The people sitting in the chairs on the aisle are almost always bumped every now and then by people passing behind them. Oh Verde, do you really need that much counter space? You're crowding the loyal customer out the door....literally! Verde's teas themselves are quite acceptable, but in contrast to the more foodie Tea Era, somwehat flat and more acidic than I care for. What I come here for are the snacks. My partner likes the suprisingly good cinnamon-sugar chicken nuggets (the gluten-free must pass these up) and I favor the tea eggs and spiced tofu with cilantro. The tofu, if you're into that sort of thing, is great. My only peeve is that they give me the eggs pre-peeled with crumbs of egg sticking to the outside of the egg. Yuck. The shell keeps the egg together in case you're toting them someplace and is one's guarantee of product integrity. For best tea eggs and better tea, do them at Ten Ren in Cupertino's Ranch 99 plaza. A few years ago, I'd have given four stars, but with the bad remodel and lessening tea integrity - 3. read more

This place is amazing! They recently renovated getting rid of some seating area, but it's quaint. During the summer I have their watermelon aloe which is to die for. During the winter I switch to taro milk tea with pearls. Again, it's delicious, although sometimes the taste nods towards cookies and cream. I love their salty fried chicken. I know it has a lot of fat in it, but it's great food you get to poke with a little skewer and eat. Also, their chocolate toast is scrumptious. Just picture a slab of Texas toast that's been enrobed with chocolate. The one benefit I've found with going here is by using their card system. You fill a store card with $25 and they throw in an extra $5, it's essentially a free drink or two. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good pearl place. read more

3.5 stars. I used to come to Verde around 2-3 times a week at one point. Now I only come here when I need a decaf boba, since they are the only place around here I know of that makes it that way, and because drinking something caffeinated after 8pm will result in me staying awake all night long. I like the almond milk tea with less sugar. I also used to really love hazelnut milk tea, but now I find it too sweet, even when I ask for less sugar. Asking for less sugar seems to result in a less sweet drink only about 50% of the time. I guess it really depends on who is making it that day. I don't like the new layout of the store (well it's not that new anymore), it feels cramped, dark, and crowded to me. I liked it better before they rennovated, it was way easier to find a place to sit back then. read more

This is my favorite pearl tea place, just like its last incarnation down the street was, before it closed last year. Oh, how sad I was for that year. I personally prefer a sweeter, lighter pearl tea, so Verde's is perfect. (In comparison, I think Fantasia's is my least favorite because it tastes kind of like coffee.) Even though it gets a little too sweet towards the end of the cup, it usually isn't a problem because I'll be having the popcorn chicken, which balances it out nicely. During the summer, the mango shaved ice is the best! For around $3.75 (if memory serves) you get delicious chunks of ripe, sweet mango drizzled in condensed milk over ice. (Be cautious in the fall, if they're still offering it--the mango can be somewhat sour and underripe.) I'm not a big fan of their frozen slushes. They taste too artificial and separate weirdly when they melt. As for the overall store, it's changed a lot. Most of it is devoted to restaurant-style sit-down areas, with a small area near the register for people who want their food to-go. The food is relatively inexpensive, and the look is nice. I've come to do homework before, for hours. Unlike another reviewer, I didn't have trouble using the internet for a long period of time. My only criticism is that the food comes out a little slow, especially if you're getting it to-go. (For instance, today, I drank more than half my tea before I got my food, and I drink slowly!) If they sped that up, I'd have nothing to complain about. Still my favorite place, though! read more

I used to come here a lot and I love the milk teas: they are good, and of larger quantity. The lower rating I am giving has nothing to do with the taste of their teas. It's more because I saw something very disturbing at the back of their store: I was walking out of the parking structure when I saw an employee come out of the backdoor of Verde and started blowing snot out of his nose - no tissue or towels or anything. He shook his hands to free it of the dirty stuff, and went back into the store. I have no idea if he washed his hands afterwards or not. But I don't think I want to take the chance. I couldn't enjoy my dinner (not at Verde) after seeing that, much less ever going back to Verde for tea again. read more

Definitely my favorite boba place anywhere. I mean, for the price, you get the best size. Compared to a tap ex regular, which is slightly cheaper, you get way more drink. Most of their flavors are always good (unlike places like fantasia and tap ex, where their watered-down flavors generally suck ass). Favorites here are: almond, hazelnut, taro (no one else stands up to their taro). Love their red bean freeze (and they don't skimp on the red bean). I've yet to experience "fishy ice" here, which I'm very thankful for. The tap ex over by Marina market - omg, sometimes their ice reeks, and tastes funny. Chinese people call it "seng", which is usually associated with fish. And trust me, fishiness + boba is NOT something you want. Their layout has changed from back in the day and it's pretty cramped and can get full easily. But i ain't gonna dock them a star for that. It's all bout the drink here, and theirs is the shit. Also, workers there are always friendly. And their drinks consistently taste the same. read more

I was walking towards the bathroom and halfway there it already smelled like piss. Gross. The tables are dirty and there are sticky smears everywhere, even the walls. Are you kidding me? It's cheap, and the quality is good. What's not to like? I always come during the night time which means it gets cold, and so i always get hot milk tea with small pearls. They are very generous in giving you pearls. Whatever kind of drink you have they give you more than enough pearls! Which i like because i love pearls :) This place can get crowded however which kind of sucks because it's hard to get in and out of the store or to even get a straw, hahaha. But i guess it's good because a place that's always busy gives you the RIGHT sign that the place is good! They serve pretty fast too, and the people are always very upbeat and happy. read more

Seriously? When did Jasmine Milk Tea have chia seeds in them when not requested? Excuse my language, but WHAT THE FUCK? Don't give a customer that "BITCH" look when they ask you if it's really Jasmine Milk tea because they suspect it's not because the bottom was filled with BLACK SEEDS. Overall, my drink tasted like shit. Service wasn't any better either. If you have a bad attitude, don't work at places with customers. Verde Tea Cafe was a huge part of my college experience. I went at least once a week for 3 years, and Verde was the boba place of choice for all my friends. In the area, Verde is considered the best boba place. Unfortunately, their drinks have gotten REALLY sweet in the past two years or so, and I now order all my drinks with 1/2 sugar or sometimes even no sugar. In terms of drinks, I prefer Tea Era down the street, which has more traditional tasting boba drinks and is much less sweet. Verde is great for the atmosphere, however; there are lots of places to sit and most of my friends choose to sit and drink their boba and hang out, much like a coffee shop. The food is also pretty good for late-night snacking. I especially like their Taiwan thick toast and salty fried chicken. read more
