A Ruben is a hearty sandwich however I am used to more contrasting flavor from the sauerkraut, cheese, and sauce. In my opinion this sandwich was oily, salty, and bland. The eggplant Parmesan was bursting with flavor and while also oily had some nice light flavor from the pesto. The eggplant however was completely mush. I wish the eggplant still had some texture. There was no crunch from the eggplant cutlets. The sandwich could have used something like fresh tomato slices to add a variety of texture to the sandwich. The buffalo chicken sandwich was the best of the sandwiches in my opinion as the raw veggies provided some lightness and texture to complement the fried chicken patty. It is amazing that their fried chicken patty is house made and helps explain the fairly high cost of the meal. We enjoyed the Apple cider donuts for dessert. They were soft and cakes with the appropriate amount of cinnamon sugar on the outside. Overall I would come back to this business but I would ask more questions around which meal options would be the lighter menu choices. The amount of grease I consumed was challenging on my stomach and I think there are other menu options worth trying.

My chair was also wobbly. Then I noticed the napkin dispenser on the table was dirty with dust. All this validated my initial opinion when entering. My order arrived, but in a to go bag. No problem, I stayed and ate it. Overall the sandwich was ok, with a soft warm bun. The melted cheese covered the turkey and ham below. I can't say the sandwich was very flavorful, so the Formula 45 sauce added flavor. Before leaving, I used the restroom and was not surprised by how dirty it was. Lots of dust on the top of toilet tank and the handicap bars. Then residual dried water spots under the paper dispenser and wall where the trash can was sitting. No effort here. I really don't like giving a review like this, but it was disappointing. I have visited Groucho's in the Columbia area and they were much better. While food taste and value usually come first, the appearance (cleanliness) also contributes to the experience. I've read other reviews that share similar experiences, so this is not a solitary moment. Hopefully feedback helps, maybe owners/managers will see the need to react to concerns. Unfortunately, I will not likely return.

The interior is straight forward with ordering at the counter and then picking it up when done. The are a number of great beverage choices and of course chips or maybe even some pasta salad to go with your meal. We started with the Ranch Jawn with Calabrian hot buffalo roasted chicken, greens, Rantcha sauce on toasted garlic bread. I was expecting a sort of chicken parm vibe, but it was completely different. The chicken is shredded with a nice heat to it. The greens are super crunchy with the tangy Rantcha sauce. If I would have to describe it, I would say it tastes like a buffalo chicken Caesar salad sandwich. What it does really works and makes for a light summer meal. Up next we tried the Bear with cool roast beef, melted provolone, Balsamic Peporonata , Pepper Shooter aioli on a toasted seeded long roll. The roast beef was succulent and tender and a decent portion! The Peporonata, sweet peppers slowly cooked with onions, olive oil and tomatoes provided a nice sweetness to the sandwich. It was interesting that the melted provolone was on the bottom of the bun which was just the right level of cheesy goodness. Finally, we ordered the sandwich that put them on the map. The Such a Nice Italian Boy with Mortadella (with pistachio) , hot and sweet Soppressata , chili relish, burrata, red onion, greens, tomato, sharp provolone with a homemade Italian vinaigrette on a ciabatta roll. I can see why this sandwich is the foundation in which the Pass is built upon. We ordered it to go for later and the owner was gracious enough to pack the wet elements in separate containers. The meats were much like the Bear super tender and sliced thin. What really brought it all home was the chili relish and the vinaigrette which totally elevated the sandwich to a new level! It was a total flavor bomb and one of the best Italian sandwiches I've had. This place is great for a sit-down lunch, but I think it is a great place to pack a picnic lunch to take to the beach in Mt. Pleasant.
