Decided to stop here will on this side of town to try something different. The shop is on the corner with lots of windows so is bright and inviting. The music was different from any other sub shop I've been to but that is the only thing making this a unique experience. The staff was nice, service was quick but the food was just ok. Fries were probably the best part of the meal, hot and crispy but not salted, i added ym own salt to taste which i can appreciate. Sub was ok, nothing special making Jon Smith different than any other sandwich shop in my opinion. The chocolate chip cookie that appeared so delicious in the display case was thrown away as it was horrible. Clearly something was left out from the recipe when this batch was made and I was told it was just made 45 minutes earlier but was hard. Something doesn't sound right.

Came in from Surfside to go to our bank. Stopped in here and was pleasantly surprised. Nova took our order. He was SOOO nice and so helpful!! Just a very pleasant person. As soon as a guest left he came out immediately and cleaned the table, so the restaurant was very clean, bathroom was clean as well. Cute place to eat and not to busy. Our two sandwiches and fries were excellent.

My husband was way out in Mount Pleasant on a Job and decided to pick us up a sub to split for lunch! We ended up getting the Triple Deli classic which consists of: Turkey Breast, Ham, Roast beef, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and mayonnaise (which we opted out of) and this particular sub only comes in 12 inches! They state on the site and wrappers that "they only committed to serving the highest quality, large portioned mouthwatering subs that's fresh, fresh, fresh, or my names not Jon Smith" LOL! And they definitely delivered here!!! As shown in the picture, it was piled high with topping, they are very generous with their meats, the tomatoes were red and juicy, and the onions and pickles had the perfect tang! And though they are nowhere near us, this would be a perfect pick up and head to the beach sub. Just saying :)

    The Cuban. Good meats!

Hubby had a bad sub experience last week at another place I won't name, and I really wanted a decent sandwich. I heard about this place and since they were near my work, I stopped in to give them a shot on the way home yesterday. After my fantastic experience I will definitely be dropping by again whenever I don't feel like cooking! The restaurant is cute and clean, the staff amazingly friendly, and the food is top-notch. Kayla greeted me from behind the counter as soon as I walked in the door, and she is an absolute delight. She was so warm and friendly, I tried to poach her to come work for me LOL I had the privilege of meeting the owner, who told me next week is their anniversary celebration and they will be having daily specials and a big charity event Saturday, which sounds like a great time. For my hubby I ordered a 12" Hot Pastrami and those famous fries with a big drink. The sandwich is exactly what you want in a hot sub. Fresh bread, crusty outside and soft inside, loaded with tender meat so perfectly sliced! Most places slice too thin or too thick and sloppy. Jon Smith's does it right! Just the right amount of toothiness. The balance of meat, cheese, and condiments was perfect, the meat so flavorful and fresh! The mustard stood out as very sharp but not overpowering. The fries were hot, fresh, and fun floppy, not overcrisp but still a little steamy and soft. They gave me lots of ketchup too, which I appreciate. I got myself the Cuban, and it was a decent Cuban. Plenty of pickles and really good meats. Not sure on the bread, it wasn't exactly the Cuban bread experience I remember from Florida or even Havana Cafe (RIP) but it was a nice sandwich. I want to try the ham and cheese next, but at least I know when I have a Cuban craving I can satisfy it here. This might be my new favorite sandwich shop. They know what they're doing and they seem to enjoy doing it. That's a winning combination! I know I'll be seeing them again soon, because we love sandwiches!

Nasty Reuben, too much sauce too little meat

Their slogan was "you will need a shower not a napkin", while I tend to agree with this sentiment it isn't a positive thing. The sauce on the Reuben was completely over powering and the meat was lost somewhere in the mess. I think it had some meat but in all seriousness the meat was much much les than on comparable subs. The missing meat was even worse on the grilled Italian, it was more like a veggie grilled onion sandwich. To make matters worse the bun was enormous, dry and tasteless. Imagine shoving your mouth with dry tasteless bread and each bight would ooze some nasty sauce down your throat. The fries were cold but I think if hot would have been the only satisfactory thing we ordered. The fountain drink tasted like they used water from a city tap, nasty nasty nasty. The worst part is we paid $25 and waited 20 minutes to be served this food.

From what I gathered, steak and cheese seems to be their claim to fame so I decided to go that route. Last minute I decided to mix it up and try a variation on the classic called the glazed teriyaki steak. While typically, I'm not a fan of adding things to a steak and cheese that don't belong, the teriyaki honey glaze and sesame seeds were a welcome addition to the onions and mushrooms. I don't know if I would choose it every time but it was a good way to break away from the norm. I upgraded to fries instead of chips and they were a nice shoestring style. Oh, and I may or may not have added a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Don't judge... I was hungry!

Came here for lunch on Sunday afternoon with my mom and daughter. We came from Summerville to do some shopping and wanted to try somewhere we cannot eat in Summerville. I have visited the sub shop once thanke to Yelp Elite. I told my mom and daughter it was great and i enjoyed it when I was able to participate in the event. Boy, I was wrong. We walked right up to the counter to order. All three of us ordered and we sat down to wait on our food. I am thankful I had Clorox wipes in my purse, as we had to wipe down our table. We received our food and after taking everything out of the bag we were missing two orders of fries. My daugthers sub was supposed to be heated and it was not. I went to the counter and waited a few minutes before any of the workers made eye contact with me. They were all talking with each other and on their cell phones, there was no one else in line. I told them we did not get our fries and that my daughters sub was not made properly. After going back to sit down and eat, I noticed I ordered a six inch Italian and received a twelve inch, I checked my receipt and sure enough I was charged for a twelve inch, I did not want a twelve inch sub. I had to trash the other half since I was not able to finish it and did not have a proper way to store it since we were shopping and commuting to Summerville. The two trash cans were FULL and overflowing. As we were finishing our food, three of the employees took a seat and were having fries, one had a soda, another had a sub. The phone was ringing, there was people coming in, and they were just hanging out. I visited the bathroom and big shock, it was gross. The trash was oveflowing and the sink was dirty. I never say the dining room being cleaned up, sanitized in between customers while we dined in. After my experince here for lunch yesterday I was super disappointed.

Glad to have a new sub shop in the area, and one that offers even more. We stopped by one Saturday evening and checked them out. There is outdoor seating up front, then plenty of booths inside. We were nicely greeted when we walked up to the counter, and she even asked if we had been there before. We said no and she offered to explain anything. I wanted something hot and went with the Chicken Bomb, and then my husband ordered the Triple Deli Classic. We also ordered 1 large fries to share. We had a small normal wait time, then the subs arrived. Mine was double wrapped and I soon found a large filled sub with chunks of chicken, tomatoes, mushrooms, and more. I was just not thrilled with the messy spillover, but guess that is part of the experience. As far as taste, I like the sub roll/bun, it was super fresh and soft. But the chicken lacked flavor, if anything salt. I get they are probably minimalist with seasoning as everyone has an opinion, but it needs salt. Then my husbands sub was also a huge 12' soft roll overflowing with beef, turkey, ham, lettuce, tomatoes and more. It was delicious! I liked that one more than my order. The thin crispy fries were hot and tasty. Plenty of ketchup on hand in a bottle too if you wanted it. Overall I like Jon Smith Subs, and feel they have a decent menu with lots of options. Even though I may have not loved my sub, it was good and I will definitely be back to try them again.

Just had lunch at the grand opening. Great food, great service and to top it off, we were among the first 50 customers so we won free subs for a year! I ordered the Cajun chicken sub with fries. Great bread -- that hoagie place in town serves bricks they pass off as bread. The chicken was all white meat and high quality. Great flavor. Fries were cooked just right. Food came pretty fast after we ordered. I was pleased with the visit, for sure... we'll be back!

A chaotic situation. Half melted, half missing, fully pointless. The extra onions were sparse at best. There was no seasoning, no structure, no attempt at balance. One third of each half had zero meat- in fact check out the picture to see they didn't even slice the bread!!! When you pull the sandwich apart, it doesn't stretch or satisfy -- it collapses into bread shards and beef paste. Truly impressive in the worst way. The service counter setup was confusing, as there are 2 registers but each facing a different direction. The staff immediately said hi, but never said which register to take my order as he was on the phone. Another staff member then arrived and took my order at the other register. I ordered the apollo dipper, and said I'd eat in. The seating options are a little sparse for one. There were a few tables for 4 or more, but not enough 2 tops. There is a long counter to sit, but I did not find it appealing and sat at the two top. The chairs look dirty, as the back supports had a dirty appearance from all the hands. My chair was also wobbly. Then I noticed the napkin dispenser on the table was dirty with dust. All this validated my initial opinion when entering. My order arrived, but in a to go bag. No problem, I stayed and ate it. Overall the sandwich was ok, with a soft warm bun. The melted cheese covered the turkey and ham below. I can't say the sandwich was very flavorful, so the Formula 45 sauce added flavor. Before leaving, I used the restroom and was not surprised by how dirty it was. Lots of dust on the top of toilet tank and the handicap bars. Then residual dried water spots under the paper dispenser and wall where the trash can was sitting. No effort here. I really don't like giving a review like this, but it was disappointing. I have visited Groucho's in the Columbia area and they were much better. While food taste and value usually come first, the appearance (cleanliness) also contributes to the experience.
