Stopped in for lunch today. I ordered the black bean burger salad with pickles, onions, coconut bacon. It was pretty good except the black bean burger was so dry. The salad dressing definitely helped with that. The slice of bread that came with it was also very dry. No help for that, I just skipped eating it. The main problem with this Verde location was the cleanliness. The prep area where the ingredients were was really a mess and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was lacking a bit. Definitely a turnoff for this location. A plus was we had a question about ingredients and one of the employees went out of her way to look them up. This is our preferred location to go to even when we're downtown. Parking is so much easier so even if we're on King St. we'll take the time to drive across the bridge. Fresh and tasty. Loved both salads. Portions are huge for me, one salad could've fed us both. Soba salad and a Cobb salad plus 2 sodas $25. The peanut dressing on the soba salad was awesome. Since moving to the Charleston area about five months ago, I've had a couple of salads from Verde and can definitely say I'm a fan! While you can choose ingredients and build your own, their signature salads are a great way to go. Not only does it take away the trouble of deciding what to add, but their combinations of ingredients are fantastic. Lots of flavor, fresh and filling. You get a really hefty portion (and the option to include a chunk of bread) and it truly does fill you up. For the price, it may seem a little expensive at first, but it would honestly cost a lot more to buy each ingredient and make it yourself. So, just go for it! And, if you're more in the mood for a meal you can hold onto, you can have your salad wrapped up into a tortilla. Today was Verde's fifth birthday celebration and they had a packed house. All locations across the Charleston area offered their signature meals for $3.65 -- what a deal. And apparently everyone in town thought so, because the lines were LONG. But Verde was prepared for the turnout and had a full force working behind the counter and keeping things clean and tidy in the dining area. And the line moved as quick as possible. Very impressive. I made my way to Verde for lunch one day after a coworker (or 2 or 3) kept telling me how AMAZING their salads are. I'm not one to pass on a tasty bowl of deliciousness, so I hopped on the website and got to work. I ordered the Southern Harvest salad- apples, pears, chicken. The foundation of a delicious lunch. I added cucumbers (YUM) and goat cheese (to DIE for) and had the salad chopped. Before I go on, can we talk about the dressing? Whoever the genius was to make sweet tea into a heavenly vinaigrette should be given an award. I could drink it all day. Moving on. I will say the only drawback is that it's a bit of an adventure from my office to Verde- I wish I was downtown where they deliver. This spot is the most delicious, guilt free, fast and friendly spot. Conveniently located on my direct route home from work I've already filled up two frequent cards and they have only been open a few months. I've tried just about everything on the menu at this point! The best part about this place is that you can trust them and get something that they've created (I've never had one I didn't like) or pull a DIY and create whatever salad your heart desires with the plethora of fresh ingredients and homemade dressings. They'll even put your whole creation in a wrap if you want, but I always go for the chopped salad. Verde is my favorite lunch spot in the Charleston area. All of the locations are usually slammed at lunch hour though (consider yourself warned). This place is quick + healthy spot for salads with their dressings even being guilt free! (most of them are vegan). I typically build my own salad because you can get super specific with the salad base (i.e. choose 2 greens to mix). Last time I was in, I built my own with half spinach & kale, double mushrooms (these are seriously addicting...not sure what they do to them), spicy broccoli (this is seasonal), cherry tomatoes, roasted turkey. and the creamy poblano dressing. In my opinion, the roasted turkey is 100X's more moist/flavorful when compared to the roasted chicken. I've also tried the Mesa Verde salad off of the menu, which is a great salad if you're feeling something southwestern. read more

As a first timer. I was not greeted when I came in... I wasn't sure what to order and the menu isn't quite clear. $14 for wrap and a bottled water and I wasn't even given napkins for a Togo order. I had asked for my wrap to be cut and it was not. Things got messy. Now, the good part, the wrap is good and the place is clean. That to me is the up most important. A great place! Sort of like a Chipotle but with salad. I got the Cesar salad with chicken. The dressing was sort of bland, but still good nonetheless. They had fresh ground pepper and salt. Great fresh salad. I was so psyched to find this place while visiting Mt Pleasant. We have a tons of these types of places in NYC and I was hoping I would find one while on vacation. I would recommend that they keep the fruit covered or use a small fan to discourage the fruit flies. The unparalleled craftsmanship I saw manifested in each bowl was truly breathtaking. The staff dressed my salad with such grace that I could only compare it to a gazelle prancing through the wind on a perfect summers day. I love how they can make any salad into a wrap because the portions are so huge that sometimes you just need the wrap to contain all of the ingredients they provide. I really wanted to rate it a 3 but that's solely based on the experience I have at a salad restaurant called Salata in California. If I hadn't ever been there, I would rate this place a 4. I like the options of greens but would prefer if there was different size options. Even if it were only 2 options. There aren't very many healthy green options in Mt. Pleasant that're good but I would recommend Verde to a friend. The only downside that I found was a shortage of meat options. I would've preferred at least 2 different flavor a of chicken and I didn't see any quinoa available. The chicken and turkey I got were both dry. Maybe I came on an off day or they have a new cook, I don't know; but I do know that it was dry. I'm also not a fan of the bowl the salad comes in. It has a small base so you have to hold onto it so it doesn't tip over when trying to pierce your salad with a fork; which happened twice. I opted to not have my salad chopped, but afterwards realized maybe I should've gotten it chopped because the kale and other lettuce in my salad weren't broke off into the normal size pieces but left as the whole leaf. I had to break it apart myself. The staff is really nice, the establishment was really clean and the healthy drink options were good as well. Again, I think it's a 3 IMO but based on available options around, I give it a 4. read more
