However, I'm a huge fan of Verde! (Maybe it's because they use a fancy lettuce chopper to create perfect bite size lettuce.) Choose from one of their signature salads or wraps, or create your own. Menu items range from $7-$9, so it's pretty standard lunch prices. For the past two years, they've even celebrated their anniversary with significantly cheaper signature items! Simply put, I love Verde. If you've never been before, it's the Chipotle of salads. You really can't go wrong. It's a bit pricey but the ingredients are top-notch and fresh. Since moving to the Charleston area about five months ago, I've had a couple of salads from Verde and can definitely say I'm a fan! While you can choose ingredients and build your own, their signature salads are a great way to go. Not only does it take away the trouble of deciding what to add, but their combinations of ingredients are fantastic. Lots of flavor, fresh and filling. You get a really hefty portion (and the option to include a chunk of bread) and it truly does fill you up. For the price, it may seem a little expensive at first, but it would honestly cost a lot more to buy each ingredient and make it yourself. So, just go for it! And, if you're more in the mood for a meal you can hold onto, you can have your salad wrapped up into a tortilla. Today was Verde's fifth birthday celebration and they had a packed house. All locations across the Charleston area offered their signature meals for $3.65 -- what a deal. And apparently everyone in town thought so, because the lines were LONG. But Verde was prepared for the turnout and had a full force working behind the counter and keeping things clean and tidy in the dining area. And the line moved as quick as possible. Very impressive. Verde is my favorite lunch spot in the Charleston area. All of the locations are usually slammed at lunch hour though (consider yourself warned). This place is quick + healthy spot for salads with their dressings even being guilt free! (most of them are vegan). I typically build my own salad because you can get super specific with the salad base (i.e. choose 2 greens to mix). Last time I was in, I built my own with half spinach & kale, double mushrooms (these are seriously addicting...not sure what they do to them), spicy broccoli (this is seasonal), cherry tomatoes, roasted turkey. and the creamy poblano dressing. In my opinion, the roasted turkey is 100X's more moist/flavorful when compared to the roasted chicken. I've also tried the Mesa Verde salad off of the menu, which is a great salad if you're feeling something southwestern. read more

They just raise their prices and portions are too large for one so they don't offer a smaller size salad so I have to split it with my coworker. This is our preferred location to go to even when we're downtown. Parking is so much easier so even if we're on King St. we'll take the time to drive across the bridge. Fresh and tasty. Loved both salads. Portions are huge for me, one salad could've fed us both. Soba salad and a Cobb salad plus 2 sodas $25. The peanut dressing on the soba salad was awesome. This spot is the most delicious, guilt free, fast and friendly spot. Conveniently located on my direct route home from work I've already filled up two frequent cards and they have only been open a few months. I've tried just about everything on the menu at this point! The best part about this place is that you can trust them and get something that they've created (I've never had one I didn't like) or pull a DIY and create whatever salad your heart desires with the plethora of fresh ingredients and homemade dressings. They'll even put your whole creation in a wrap if you want, but I always go for the chopped salad. I added cucumbers (YUM) and goat cheese (to DIE for) and had the salad chopped. Before I go on, can we talk about the dressing? As a first timer. I was not greeted when I came in... I wasn't sure what to order and the menu isn't quite clear. $14 for wrap and a bottled water and I wasn't even given napkins for a Togo order. I had asked for my wrap to be cut and it was not. Things got messy. Now, the good part, the wrap is good and the place is clean. That to me is the up most important. Great fresh salad. I was so psyched to find this place while visiting Mt Pleasant. We have a tons of these types of places in NYC and I was hoping I would find one while on vacation. I would recommend that they keep the fruit covered or use a small fan to discourage the fruit flies. Words could not do my experience justice. My soul felt fulfilled with green goodness from the moment I stepped foot inside Verde. The unparalleled craftsmanship I saw manifested in each bowl was truly breathtaking. The boy at the counter had impeccable spinach to bowl technique, and I found that my salad was chopped to perfection. The staff dressed my salad with such grace that I could only compare it to a gazelle prancing through the wind on a perfect summers day. I really wanted to rate it a 3 but that's solely based on the experience I have at a salad restaurant called Salata in California. If I hadn't ever been there, I would rate this place a 4. I like the options of greens but would prefer if there was different size options. Even if it were only 2 options. There aren't very many healthy green options in Mt. Pleasant that're good but I would recommend Verde to a friend. The only downside that I found was a shortage of meat options. I would've preferred at least 2 different flavor a of chicken and I didn't see any quinoa available. The chicken and turkey I got were both dry. Maybe I came on an off day or they have a new cook, I don't know; but I do know that it was dry. I'm also not a fan of the bowl the salad comes in. It has a small base so you have to hold onto it so it doesn't tip over when trying to pierce your salad with a fork; which happened twice. I opted to not have my salad chopped, but afterwards realized maybe I should've gotten it chopped because the kale and other lettuce in my salad weren't broke off into the normal size pieces but left as the whole leaf. I had to break it apart myself. The staff is really nice, the establishment was really clean and the healthy drink options were good as well. Delicious! I had the Farmer's Market. The staff are friendly and fast. The food is fresh. The restaurant is clean, clean, clean.

While this is a fantastic idea with good ingredients and nice staff.........23.00 for a salad a cookie and a drink is absurd. Add to that, the atmosphere of hard plywood seats, bare bones everything, no cushions or even salt and pepper on the table. They looked closed, because it was so sparse. The salad is put in a bowl and chopped at your request but is not mixed at all and you get all of the toppings and goodies on the bottom in a bowl that you cannot mix it in without dumping it out. If your order is to go and you are taking it home then no problem, but to eat there is a bad choice and I can get an entire head of lettuce, a whole kale, enough shrimp for a few days, a 6 pack of soda and a bag of cookies for 23.00. Will never waste my money like that again. Considering this is an assembly only process with no chef, no wait staff and ZERO ambiance, I can only assume greed or incompetence is the issue. read more
