Outstanding time at Verde's 1/2 price pizza Monday! I've been a fan of Verde since moving to Baltimore, and this is the 3rd time I've been, but moved to write a review due to the truly exceptional experience this time. First of all, we arrived on what is clearly the busiest night of their week, with no reservation, and only had to wait 15 min for a table for 3, which was quite reasonable. Then, we were settled in a nice table upstairs, ordered some glasses of wine, and settled in chatting. It was quite a while before our pizza came, but when it did it was spectacular. Leading the pack, the Pizza con Burrata was a case study in letting high quality ingredients shine; even a bite of the tomato sauce and pizza alone was heavenly, and pairing those with the fresh, firm, housemade burrata allowed one to be transported to a hot Naples summer evening without so much as a TSA line. Next up, the Cavolo was resplendent with it's smoked mozzarella and colorful veggie toppings of kale and corn. Rounding out the bunch, the aptly named Vegetariana provided some nice extra greenery to the meal. To put the cherry on top, our waiter, Evan, who had already been amazing throughout the meal, with informed opinions on the wine selections and the cheesemaking that went into the burrata, brought us a tiramisu on the house. How incredible! We stayed pretty late, as the other tables cleared out, then Evan tipped us off that there was a special event going on at the bar downstairs, so we headed down to enjoy some great craft cocktails from Save Your Soul with Republic Restoratives! We tried their Cardi B (bourbon fruit smoothie), Alex Figdon (sophisticated apple brandy with sage-- my favorite), Farewell to Arms (A delectable light ginger vodka concoction), and the Averna Miss You (a very dark bourbon drink). All were great and all were only $5 for this event! We came here on a Wednesday night, and the setting of bare brick walls, rustic-chic decor, and candlelit tables couldn't have made us feel more welcomed. FOOD Quattro Formaggi: The pie had a nice contrast of crispy and chewy. My coworkers had been raving about the Verde pizza and their 50% off Monday special, so I was really excited to try it out for myself. (The special is now 25% off for dine in or takeout but it's still pretty good.) I have to say I was initially really impressed with the menu because it's so extensive and seems pretty authentic, and when I tried the pizza it was totally legit. Myself and 8 coworkers each ordered our pizzas separately through the website and set the pick up time, then went to pick up our pizzas and eat in Patterson park. Verde had all of our pizzas ready on time and the whole process was really smooth. The pizza was also delicious (it's thin crust which I love) and I totally recommend the spicy olive oil (I didn't realize this was an option until my coworker ordered it, but man it's good)! Can never go wrong with this place. Came here with my wife after striking out with a few other places on date night (not open on a Friday night). We love the cozy, quaint, yet electric atmosphere. The service is always great, but this night was fantastic. We were sat as soon as we arrived. The waiter was at our table upstairs immediately. We ordered the meatballs as an app, can't go wrong with these at a good Italian place. We then ordered two pizzas and they came out within 10 mins of ordering. One was our go to regular favorite, get it every time I'm there- Pistachio e Salsicca: sausage, pesto and mozzarella. The other was the Prosciutto e Fico: fig, prosciutto, and cheese. Awesome neighborhood spot! I feel so lucky that it is just a short walk from my house in canton. Every time I go I have to get the white mussels and the burrata. The mussels white wine sauce is so tasty that I have to stop myself from wanting to drink it and usually have to ask for extra bread for dipping. Their pizzas are so good and the perfect size! Read until the end because I would have given it a 5. For context, I am visiting my cousin J dog for the Phillies Orioles game. I was excited to see my power house Phillies destroy the poverty franchise that is the Orioles. We decided to head to a local delicacy in Verde. The night started phenomenally. The food was exquisite. The burrata appetizer was one of a Michelin star restaurant. The pizza in the 850 degree oven followed suit. The issue came at dessert when a family of 6 mice scampered across the floor. My smoking hot fiancé, screamed, as we do not have mice in Philadelphia and it proves that this city is a poverty city. We notified the staff and (this part is real) they said that they "recognized the problem and our guy is coming Monday". I gladly paid full price and tipped 20% because I am richer than every bum in this city, but they would have avoided the review if they simply gave us the wine off the tab. While their pizzas aren't the largest in size for the price, it is worth every cent. The only downfall to Verde, no fault of their own, is the location. They are in the Patterson Park area of the city and as fellow Baltimoreans know, parking in this area is awful, but always worth the trip to get Verde's deliciousness. One of the better pizza joints in Baltimore. Staff is very friendly - we recently called in an order for pickup so we could walk to the park and enjoy a pizza on a park bench. They cook the pizza at a really high temp so it only takes a total of 5 or 6 minutes to fulfill a pizza order. The Vesuvio pizza is quite delicious. Stuffed with meat and cheese, it is topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and veggies. Really tasty. I think the crust to pie ratio was a bit high though - too much crust, not enough surface area covered with sauce and toppings. The dough tastes pretty good but is slightly on the bland side. A bit more flavor would bump this to a 5 star. We have also ordered the margherita pizza many times. It's not bad - very floppy though and again, not enough sauce and cheese, way too much crust. Still one of the top pizzas in Baltimore, though, which doesn't speak super highly of Baltimore pizza. At up to almost $30 per pie, perfection is expected. read more
