The ambiance is upscale and modern located in a nice part of town. There's plenty of space and I liked their decor. The service was standard. Nothing crazy. The food was good! The menu was very very diverse which is quite rare. Best part was the unique dishes actually had a unique flavor to them. Usually most dishes just kind of taste the same, but the goat dish we got had a distinct clove flavor, and the chicken dish had a distinct rich, lemony flavor. Good spot ! Definitely on the pricey end but these dishes outside of India is a real treat

Went to Verandah on a Sunday evening for my husband's belated birthday celebration with 2 other people. We made a reservation and arrived on time. This area does have a parking garage attached but Verandah does validate parking! We were seated and greeted. We started looking at the menu and especially at the vegetarian options. It is definitely expensive- this is no regular indian restaurant (or though the prices seem that way). We checked out the appetizers and ordered the a mushroom pakora thing (don't remember the name) came with 5 pieces and samosas which came in 4 pieces. The batter was pretty tasty and as someone who doesn't like mushroom, I think they did a good job hiding the bland mushroom taste. The samosas were your usual samosas. We then ordered entrees- 1 Mushroom Makai Mutter, Panner Tikka Wkana, Dal Makhani, 1 more entree I don't remember the name of. We ordered it with 2 naan and 1 rice. The Paneer Tikka Wkana was pretty good, very mild which for someone who does not do well with spicy food, was good for me. I tasted the Dal Makani which was also good. Overall the bill came out to be over $100- we did all get our own entrees but it didn't seem to be worth that much. It was your average indian place nothing too special about the food. The ambience was nice. We also noticed they did a partial ticket validation not a full so we left feeling like it all was not worth it.

Very interesting menu. The drinks were out of this world. The menu descriptions were hard to judge and when your server isn't Indian they seem to not know the dishes- at least our server this visit. Will we come back most definitely. It was a pretty slow night between Christmas and New Years. But that bartender was rocking it. I had great wine and tasted drinks I wouldn't have thought to try. Better menu description and servers who can explain them would make it a 5 star

This a one of the new Indian restaurants that come very close to authentic Indian food taste while serving the American pallet needs. It's also one of the very few places in Houston that serves Roomali Roti. Service is good and the staff is polite. I'm not a big fan of the lunch menu though as the rice and salad served with the main course just tastes bad. No complaints about the appetizers, curries or the bread!

Verandah is a delicious upscale option for Indian food. This place is similar to Kiran and Mussafer, but I felt that the food was more flavorful here. There are many vegetarian options to choose from: we ordered kadhai paneer, palak paneer, paneer tikka w'kana, and an eggplant dish. Everything was tasty. The only item I wasn't a fan of was the vegetable biryani. It comes with unique and innovative presentation. The birayni is baked in a bread bowl type covering which they will cut open for you at the table (video below). This is supposed to preserve the flavor of the meal, but I felt that the biryani tasted a little bland.

Extremely average Indian restaurant! The service was great but we didn't enjoy the food as much as we'd hoped for! The appetizers were great, but the main course was average Good service and ample parking in the lot. They also validate parking

First time trying Veranda, serving progressive Indian cuisine, located at 3300 Kirby Drive Sunil Srivastava and his wife Anupama greeted us at our table and it's apparent they share a love for Indian food and culture. Their former restaurant in Houston was called the Great W'Kana Café. Chef Sunil's passion for cooking was inspired by his mom during his childhood. He has worked at some of India's most famous restaurants in New Delhi, including hotels ITC and TAJ in India. We felt so pampered by Chef Sunil cooking knowing he has cooked for world famous leaders, royalty, dignitaries and diplomats. We all enjoyed a delicious meal and GNO! Several different street food options or bowl options for an authentic experience. Unfortunately I didn't realize the burger came with fries and I additionally ordered loaded tikka masala fries so instead of it being a replacement for the fries with a burger I just had two huge orders of fries. Seemed like something that the person taking the order could've mentioned before I ordered it. Also had the lamb baryani, tikka masala and garlic naan. This was amazing! Tasted so good. Deep in flavor and of course spices The naan was amazing And everything came out really hot! You can smell the flavors and the spices when you walked into the restaurant. Used my Chase Sapphire Reserve credit to dine and I would definitely use the credit here again. For a business dinner you can expense or a date you're trying to impress this is a great choice. Service was attentive, large well decorated dining areas. Food was solid and large variety of vegetarian items, so everyone can find something they like. Portions were good. So why wouldn't I pay full price? Because none of the dishes were memorable or crave worthy. The prices are a little bit high because they have to pay for the beautiful ambiance and all the attentive staff, plus rent isn't cheap. So I understand why it's a little high. Entree prices aren't outrageous, but like any fine dining, everything's à la carte, so the prices add up. Taste wise I prefer Aga's. If you're venturing for something high-quality and with a large variety of different choices, rather than the same items every Indian place has, this is a solid choice. Quality wise everything was outstanding and used great meats. Chicken tandoori was cooked perfectly and great portion. Loved that they had a variety of breads and zero proof alcohol. Non-alcoholic Cosmopolitan was good. Skip the non-alcoholic pineapple margarita, very little flavor.

Decor is impressive and luxurious; there is a business casual dress code to be aware of before you arrive. Service was good but on the slower end. Food was lovely and flavorful, but I've had more enjoyable Indian food at lower price points, ambiance aside. Overall, the atmosphere wowed me more than the food. Foie gras, lamb leg vindaloo, and navrattan korma were tasty, though I wish there was a little more paneer in my korma. Lasooni (garlic naan) had excellent garlic flavor but is a little on the crispier end, just not my personal preference. Also had to try Kiran's bread (goat cheese and rosemary) which was great in small quantities, but the flavor overpowered the rest of the meal for me with more than one piece. I may not necessarily go out of my way to come back for myself, but this is still a great place for special date nights or to impress visitors. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Food: 3/5 - Service: 4/5

Their longevity (#1) of a near half century is nothing short of impressive, earning a nostalgic place in the hearts of many Houston diners, a good number of whom trace their first Indian cuisine experiences at this very location. While I do wish their success, it's hard not to point out minor mishaps in different aspects of the overall restaurant experience, which include: :: Awkward stares from the staff as they hover or stand in the middle of the room. It's understandable that they're monitoring to help where needed, but even then I will have to flag them down for water, napkins, or the bill. :: Buffet maintenance. They're semi-quick to replenish, but extremely slow at maintaining the cleanliness. Splatter from the daal makhani, a serving spoon not returned to the same serving tray, or even customers forgetting to close the bins at the dessert station (#2) could all be mitigated by a designated person keeping it tidy. :: Food quality. The tandoori chicken has been dry, the saag paneer could be creamier, and chicken tikka masala has had their bland days. Even the naan can be a bit too dry at times. Thankfully I've fared better with the chana masala and paneer makhani. I would also steer clear of their fruit punch. :: Decor is dark and dated. It still reminds me of a place that is stuck in time, which for most experiences are usually my favorite. The natural lighting during lunch alleviates this slightly, but the dinner hour makes this place feel like eating in an older hotel lobby. The vibes are most definitely challenging. :: Foodflation. Another price hike in the last year brings the buffet price to just under $22. While it's a nice jump from what it was previously, it does leave me wishing for more, especially when the prices keep climbing. ___________ (#1) 46 years. The soccer ball was photogenic but it should be both with the level of sophistication in taste they acquire in their craft. It was reminiscent of a Cadbury egg. Just the peaches and the chocolate were unimpressive and not complimentary of each other. The tuna papad was amazing. Some subtle hints of aromatic Indian flavors and and sweetness. The contrast of crisp and soft and presented well. That's how I expected each dish. The rizala was creamy but not exciting with bold flavors like I was hoping. The lamb was inconsistent. One of them was tough and texture/taste off. The rest were tender but not flavorful enough in seasoning. Tried a new naan. Nimbu it was ok but too thin for naan and the lemon essence didn't really spread well across. Mango pina colada was nice. Quite disappointing for $220 though. Possible I just ordered terribly. Not quite sure what to expect, I was pleased to see that it's completely plant-based including the pastries and no extra plus charge for alternative milks (praise!) I ended up ordering their pistachio latte which had a really rich, bold espresso note and a sweet cardamom finish at the bottom of the cup. I would definitely get this again but might try to stir it before drinking for a more even flavor distribution. In terms of the setting, there's lots of small tables and couches to work and study with either a small group or alone. They also have a back patio with additional seating, board games, and even a printer which can be hard to find in this day and age. Overall the vibe is relaxed and casual. Finally, while I had to wait about 30 minutes to order and receive my drink, I had some time to watch their workflow and would offer some suggestions for improvement to speed up their service. The staff all clearly put a lot of care into preparing each drink and were doing the best they could to move quickly, but the layout of the back counter area is fairly inefficient. To start, the ice well for cold drinks is on the complete opposite side of the register away from their espresso machines. This added a lot of steps for the staff to prepare iced coffee drinks. Secondly, the straws were also quite a reach for the staff across the counter, also by the ice well. Finally, the order retrieval process is not the best. There are no names written on the cups and customers are sometimes in the bathroom or outside on the back patio when their order is ready. It can be hard for the staff to locate the right customer or if the drink gets left on the counter, it's hard to know what it is and who it is for. Overall, a pleasant (plant-based!) discovery but hoping they might consider a few steps (pun intended) to reduce the strain on their staff.
