My husband and I have been trying to go to places we haven't been to ever, or in awhile. This was the first time we went to Ventano! It kind of reminds me of an Italian version of Lindo Michochan - there is a nice view, nice outdoor patio, and a cool/old school kinda bar. We had really good lunch service today - with very attentive staff, the waiter and the runner (I think)? They had filled our waters like 6 times each without asking and continuously checked up on us. Better than service we have gotten at strip steakhouses where a dinner for two is over 400. My husband was so pleased, we tipped 40%. My husband seemed to think the waiter had a lot of regulars, who he had been fist bumping with, it was really nice. Such fantastic service. The food was good. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but, it was good. The Arancini, which is street risotto in a breading was a 3.5/5 for me. The size and consistency was good. Better than the too large version at Romano's in Inspirada; but, not better than the best one I've ever had at ceraldi, in Wellfleet, MA. Kind of hard to compare when ceraldi has all locally sourced products from the Cape; nevertheless, I was glad I ordered it. The carpaccio was plentiful. I wish that the dressing was something other than mustard, which I'm not a huge fan of. I prefer the one at Brio, which isn't probably real Italian, but I just like it better. I was unable to try the carbonara with pancetta, because of the eggs in the pasta. But, my husband really enjoyed it, he said it was heavy, but delicious. And similar to alfredo. I'm not a huge fan of meatballs. They were large. My husband mentioned they were a bit on the salty side, but I didn't get that when I tried it. They also give out fresh/warm bread in brown paper bag. It looked and tasted similar to what they have at Olive Garden. Who doesn't love fresh bread? The waiter even gave us a slice of tiramisu to take home to the babes, I had a bite and was never a fan until today! I'm sure we will be back! How can a restaurant be so lazy that they don't serve real Italian bread which should be Home Made and brought to the table in a basket or something with Class....But a Brown Paper Bag...That is so Tacky and Tasteless in so many ways. Amazing servers! They were on top of everything. Veal Parmesan was great, but took a LONG time to come out. I ordered the shrimp on a stone. Tons of baby shrimp cooked perfectly with 2 sauces. Great place for family style dining! The entree portions were so huge, that they had to be shared by two people each. The place and ambiance itself was very comforting and old style. Having that "old Italian feel" to it. I think this always bodes well especially if the place is older and well established because it means that people are coming back for the food. The only reason for 1 less star on my rating was because the bread basket they served, I took the first piece and it was hard and burnt. My daughter said that I must have gotten a mutant because all the other bread/rolls in the basket were soft and tasty. Unfortunately, it already left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't want to try another. However, I felt the best part of the meal was the appetizers. We ordered the scallops on hot stone and they were capital D- "licious". . The calamari was prepared nicely and one of the best I had in a few years. My daughter and I shared the Manicotti and it was very flavorful and well seasoned. Everyone else at the table all had to share plates as like I said previously, the portions are large. After appetizers and breadsticks, you will probably be taking some leftovers home. I don't say this about most places but the service from our waiters (Marcus?) was on another level. The 4 stars is because of the polite way my issues were handled by the wait staff, but my food was a 1 star experience. Listen, Ventano - you guys need a menu rework in a very real way. I first ordered the baked manicotti and it was burnt. All red sauce flavor had cooked away and left an oily, watery pile of pink liquid at the bottom. The top was seared dark brown and black. Red sauce should be bright and fresh, but instead I got a pile of burnt cheese and water runoff from the ricotta. I called the server over and explained I hate sending food back but for $20+, I needed to try something else. He was super understanding and I saw him asking the chef why the food was sent out that way. They didn't make me feel the least bit bad for having an issue with the quality. I ordered the ravioli and pink sauce instead, thinking that it would be a safer choice. I'm fairly certain someone dropped a bag of salt in my food. The pink sauce was salty, bland, and overall I couldn't eat more than a few bites. I had already sent my food back once though, so I refused to be the person that asked twice, especially an hour before closing time. We also ordered a rice balls appetizer which had more potential than the other dishes. The rice inside was undercooked, but the red sauce with it was good enough that I wasn't entirely disappointed. They call it a spicy pomodoro sauce, but it's not too spicy at all - I liked it. The server was nice enough to take the manicotti off the bill and we left feeling way less awful about the entire thing because of it. Thank you to the staff who helped out. Sadly, we won't be back because the quality of the food is extremely poor for the price point. At $30 a plate, your pasta should be freshly made in house and free of salt bombs. There is also a separate enclosed bar w/gambling ti the right if the host station. The hot breadsticks presented in a brown paper bag is always something to look forward to. Its served with evoo and balsamic. Got the hot stone shrimp, shareable morsels w/dipping sauces. The Jam red wine went down easy. The lobster ravioli and cajun shrimp in pink sauce was lovely. We went there for the Thanksgiving special and we were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation. They were very busy but we were given a lot of attention. We ordered the shrimp on the stone for an appetizer which was excellent and then our main course, the turkey and trimmings special. It was excellent and our server, Marcos, took very good care of us. The calamari was crispy. The chicken Madeira, though looks flavorful with all the sauce was so tasteless. I never put salt on my food, and had to add salt, my sister said it tasted like chowmein lol. Antipasto was like a charcuterie board. I didn't eat the salmon or lamb so I can't speak on that. But the one thing I did like was the carbonara, that was good. I had a bite but it wasn't my food. We went for my brothers bday so we had 7 people. On the menu it says automatic 20% gratuity, which is fine. We noticed our main waiter only came by 3 times. Once to introduce himself, second to take our order, and then he quickly passed by to ask how our food was. The second waiter was more attentive, which was nice. Also be aware that if you use any credit card, there is a 3.5% service fee charge. Overall, even though this restaurant is close to our place, I would try other Italian restaurants next time I'm craving Italian. read more

I'm in love! Can't remember when I had such satisfying Italian food. Most restaurants recipes for creamy pasta primavera is usually all watered down sauces. It has been a long time since I had such tasty creamy seriously satisfying sauce on my angel hair pasta. True taste of Italy. It was more than perfect shrimp and scallops, Rack of lamb. getting hungry thinking about it. Huge portions! The Vegas view from the restaurant is to die for. Easy parking. plenty of tables indoor and outdoor, everybody seated in a good distance so felt very safe, although we did take out. Amazing bread came with our order. Gaming bar area with poker machines at the bar was a good place to spend time while waiting for our food to be ready . Even though it's a large place it felt very cozy warm and inviting. My wife and I went to Ventano for an early dinner. We were given a nice booth at the window and had a great view of the valley. We began our dinner with a nice bottle of Merlot and baked clams. Those, along with the warm bread they brought out (along with balsamic vinegar and oil) got us off to a great start. From there we had a dish I've never had. Grilled heart of romaine salad with prosciutto, and it was wonderful. For our entree, we shared the Linguini pasta com Scampi Fra Diavolo. It had some spice, and again was delicious. For our dessert, my wife had the chocolate gelato. Service and food were great, so why just 4 stars? When I received the check, there was a charge titled "Non Cash Adj." When I asked the server why, he said it was for anyone using a credit card. What??? This is not some mom and pop shop where the 3% might impact them, but a large restaurant. I see no other comparable restaurants charging for this. And if someone responds by saying that this is to keep their prices down, I'll just say that their prices are right in line with other similar Italian restaurants. So my advice to anyone who maybe going here is this: if you do not want that charge on your bill, stop at an ATM prior to coming. read more

After driving past the restaurant for a while we decided to stop in and give it a try. Was on the fence about going with no reservations on a Saturday but it worked out just fine. It was around 630 and we were sat right away. It did pick up a bit around 7 but still not much waiting. The staff were attentive and friendly. We started with the rock shrimp appetizer and the caprese salad. The shrimp was fun and flavorful and the caprese salad was ok. The tomatoes were huge and the cheese seemed like it was right out of the package and slapped on. The dressing was good and the Basil was fresh. I ordered the rigatoni Bolognese and the wife ordered a prosciutto and chicken dish. The rigatoni was cooked well and the sauce was good. Seemed a little watery but possibly just not enough drain time on the pasta. The chicken dish was good but a little oily. overall the meal was good and the atmosphere was as well. I loved my experience at Ventano. We needed somewhere to host a celebration of life, and Michael, the event coordinator was so helpful. He helped me set up a group dinner in a private space in less than a week. He also helped us coordinate the linens, had space for a memorial table, a microphone for speeches, and a projector for photos. He even customized the menu in memory of my mom. Not only was the space perfect for what we needed, it was also beautiful. The food and service were impeccable. Location is great with an awesome view. First impression is that although the restaurant has a good sized parking lot and a terrific view inside of the strip, the interior decor needs to be remodeled. Although the place was not empty on a Saturday night, it wasn't completely packed either. The service was good, and our water glasses were never empty. It was very noisy and hard to have a conversation at a normal voice level. Between kids screaming and people playing their cell phone video at a too high volume, it was hard to focus. But, that's not the restaurants fault. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and sausage, a caprese salad, while the hubby ordered the mussels in red sauce and Francese Veal with angel hair pasta. All of the dishes were ok, not great. Hubby did not think the quality for the price was there, especially with the veal. The quality of the cut of meat was more like a veal you would use for a chicken fried steak. Bottom line is, if you live in close proximity and have a craving for Italian food, there are so many other Italian restaurants that offer better value for your money. read more

Finally got around to trying this place after driving past it for 4 years. The standout here is the view the of the Strip. They have a panoramic window and patio that overlooks the Vegas valley. Now for the food. I had the bruschetta and chicken francese. Bruschetta was not the best I've ever had but not the worst either. Chicken Francese, on the other hand, was very good. Their breadsticks here were also excellent. Way better than Olive Garden's. My only concern is that I was the only one in the place at 11:30am on a Friday so I'm hoping I just came at a bad time and that things pick up later in the day. Never have I been so disappointed in food- I am by no means a picky eater and if it's OK, that's good enough for me. We should have known from the bread which was literally white in color (and took at least 15 minutes to get to us after they brought a saucer of vinegar and oil that was just gross ) not even the tiniest tinge of a brown and raw on the inside. We asked them to cook it longer, instead, they just brought us another basket of the same warm uncooked goo. It was a sign of things to come. First it took an HOUR to get our food. I am not going to speak for the food of the rest of the party, but if I had had it, I would be complaining about that too. As for my own food, I had the Arancini appetizer, which was supposed to have peas and ground beef in it. It was a lump of mush. It literally had two peas in three arancini balls and a slightly larger than pea size meatball inside. It was shameful. I just I'm shocked. It tasted like absolutely nothing. The staff was nice enough but we were charged a mandatory 18% tip for a table of five. That's irritating because I would not have tipped 18% for the service we got if I have been my choice. No one ever even asked if my meal was satisfactory so before you ask, no, I did not complain to management. As a final kick in the ass, they do not split checks, so one person in our party literally spent 15 minutes doing math and writing down credit card numbers with corresponding amounts so the server would charge each of us properly. It's just f$&/7$ing ridiculous. Then he STILL didn't charge us the right amounts!!! We had to get refunded for being overcharged?!?! I should've known from the first sign which was the horrifying bread. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!! Even with exquisite food and service, the whole experience would be unacceptable, but for way below par food? It's just unbelievable. If I could give it negative stars, I would. Then.... when we had the NERVE to speak up about paying an extra 4% on EACH CHECK that was already included in the original bill that we split five ways, it took another 20 minutes to fix and we got reprimanded for "yelling" - which we didn't. It was just... just... I mean it was unspeakably bad. And finally, since they do announce on the menu that they do not split checks, they've probably been doing the same thing for years and years and overcharging each person that pays by a different credit card by 4% and we were just the first to take a notice. WOW. I literally cannot believe this place is still in business. And I didn't even mention the barn-like atmosphere which is not fun or cozy or sexy or nice in any way. read more

This was by far my favorite Italian restaurant when we lived in Vegas. So many great options here, it's difficult to list them all. The shrimp on a stone is the perfect way to start a meal - very few places offer this dish and I have yet to find one who comes close to executing it as well. The calamari was always excellent and the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I always found it hard to decide on which chicken dish to order, because they were all done so well. The Marsala, Piccata, Scalopini, Madeira, Francese and Parm are all excellent choices. Heck, swap out the chicken for shrimp and it's the same level of excellence. This was a popular destination for us for all occasions - dates, birthdays, family dinners, anniversaries, or just because we were hungry. The staff, the including the owner and head chef (Arnauld) were always friendly and welcoming. He regularly makes the rounds and greets his guests - our kids still remember him. I wish more places took this approach because it absolutely builds a connection and loyalty. The restaurant itself has a nice view of The Strip in distance and plenty of indoor or outdoor dining. The inside has an elegant, but approachable Tuscan feel. Very comfy and warm. Can't wait until I return to Vegas for a visit and get to dine with them once again. read more

Ventano's one of my semi-regular haunts in Henderson for great Italian. However, I will not be doing a regular review! This review is special -- yesterday my family and I had made reservations to bring a large group if our family and friends, 15 people total, to celebrate my recent graduation from UNLV. So my review will focus specifically on the service and the menu we had for that occasion! As my mother was setting up the decorations, we all went over early to set up everything for the event, well before our guests started to arrive. Michael, the manager, was extremely attentive and helpful, getting our drinks and helping make sure we were comfortable and ready for the big event. During the entire event, the regular diners here would come streaming in until the restaurant was busy, and even then we still had spectacular service. Truly wonderful! Anyway, on to the food -- we had something of a prix fixe menu for the occasion, starting with bruschetta, calamari and their famous shrimp on the stone, along with plenty of their breadsticks. Everyone ate to their satisfaction, and it was all so good -- the shrimp and calamari both got rave reviews in particular! The Caesar and classic salads that we had for everyone also went down treats, as well. For the main courses, we had five choices -- spaghetti with meatballs, chicken fettuccine Alfredo, fettuccine con funghi, linguine alla vongole, and chicken parmigiana. Of the choices, I discovered that the fettuccine con funghi was the most popular, with over half of our table ordering it and some of the guests taking the leftovers home for later! This isn't to say that all of the pasta wasn't good -- I saw clean plates for some of our guests -- but the fettucini con funghi was the most popular by far. For our dessert, Michael recommended that we get a dessert buffet setup where we had a little bit of everything come out -- tiramisu, cheesecake, spumoni, zeppoli, and chocolate cake -- and OMIGOD, was it the best decision we made. Everyone was applauding and cheering at the dessert -- we had three total trays of dessert come out -- and one of my guests perfectly described us all as having larger eyes than stomachs! Even though we were all full or almost full at that point, we all ate to our satisfaction. Needless to say, we were all stuffed and very happy with the service, the meal, everything! There's a good reason why Ventano is such a mainstay here in Henderson since its establishment in 2003: solid food, a great atmosphere, and great service make it impossible for people to stay away for long! Throughout our meal, we were attended to often and we had such a great and relaxing time wining and dining with friends.
