I do love me some fish and chips! And I was very glad when I found Cap't Loui's. It was super close to my house, and I wasn't really sure what to expect, although they had great Google ratings as well as great Yelp ratings. Place is super easy to find in shopping center. Ample parking, and nestled right in the center. You really can't miss it unless you're trying. When you walk in the door and look to your left, there's the captain and his pet grab ready to greet you. The place definitely has a seafood vibe, nuts on the walls, and just an overall rustic seafood type venue. Lots and lots of seating, tables, and booths, as well as a bar so all the bases are covered. Covered. Plus there are several widescreen TVs all over the place in case you want to look at something other than the amazing food they bring you. I ordered the captain's platter, which came with soft shell, crab, shrimp, fish, and calamari. I will say this, their french fries are top notch! And the sauces that bring out to you are second to none. My friends ordered the fish and chips plate which was huge! As well as the shrimp plate with sweet potato fries. I personally am not a sweet potato fry type person, but she said they were amazing and the shrimp worked perfectly cooked. I got to tell you, a majority of the fish and chips places I go to the fish and the fries can sometimes be greasy. This was definitely not the case here. The fish and all the other fried foods were super crisp and knock greasy at all. Honestly this will be on my list of places to go for sure! The bottom line? I visited on a Friday night, and the place was at about 70% capacity. There were only two people handling the register, ordering, and serving, so they were incredibly busy. Fish & Chips: The texture was crispy and oily, the flavor bland. It came with ketchup, tartar, and thousand island, but no vinegar. Fries: Thin fries with a mix of both salty and sweet. 1/2 lb Shrimp Boil: This came with one potato and 1/3 corn. The flavor was just okay. The music was bumpin'! Nothing like diggin into a bag of food, taking delicious bites all while jammin to some 90s tunes! We were visiting from Chicago and had a taste for seafood. I don't want to sound ungrateful or rude but I'm not sure how Cap't Loui's has a high standard for their food. The service was great from our server, the ambiance is nice, and the restaurant wasn't too crazy busy when we went in last night for dinner. We were excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews about the food and the service. We were seated immediately wnd were offered water to drink while we browsed the menu and caught up with family. Their restaurant has ample space; and the decorations are similar to other seafood boil joints, so pretty familiar. Their prices are decent, you can go during lunch time and get some good deals on meals, they have a chicken option if seafood isn't your favorite. You can get up to 4 proteins I think in a boil bag; so if you want to have variety it up then you absolutely can! Oh and you can also choose headless shrimp for an extra $2 in your bag versus head on like most places. However, the taste isn't there in the food. When you choose a boil bag, your server will shake it for you before setting it down in front of you, which I guess adds to the excitement. I got the fried fish and chips with the Cajun fries. My husband and father in law got the fisherman's platter, my daughter got the chicken sandwich and my brother in law got the boiler. The spice level for the boiler bag's Cap't Loui mild was lackluster. It needs more of everything! The shrimp was decent, wasn't overcooked; didn't seem frozen or anything like that. The chicken sandwich was the medium choice with Cajun fries- and the same, not really spicy. However, their chicken looked very freshly breaded and fried, and the presentation was great. Now the baskets, you get a 2 ounce cup of tartar, ketchup and another remoulade type sauce. You get plenty of fries with your order, (in all orders). I asked for lemon for my cod, which wasn't too bad. However, the batter didn't look or taste fresh. My cod tasted overcooked, or frozen for a bit then fried again unfortunately. The fisherman's basket was okay also. Nothing crazy to write home about, but the calamari didn't taste fresh or look fresh either. Overall, the service was great from our server, they kept our drinks refilled, checked on our table constantly and engaged with us while we were there. If the food was more flavorful, and seemed a lot more fresh or homemade, I think Cap't Loui's would do much better in business. They are in a great spot, and have the potential! This is my second time coming here and the food is delicious. I really love their Cap't Loui Medium sauce and their crab and shrimp is so good . The customer service is very good, very welcoming coming in and getting greeted and the restaurant was clean. Our server was Michelle super nice and provided great customer service. Came to eat at this Henderson location. Service is great. They are constantly checking on you. The lemon pepper has really good flavor and a fresh finish. The captain Loui sauce is very flavorful. I got medium and it wasn't too spicy. I've had medium at other places and it was Too hot to eat. We got a side of garlic noodles and it came with ample Parmesan cheese and I believe it was tossed in butter. Definitely do not skip on the garlic noodles. You can also add noodles to your bag, but I would not recommend that because I think it's soaked up too much of the sauce. I did ask for more sauce and the waiter was kind enough to bring my bag back and put more sauce on it. Wilson was our server and he was the best! We came here looking to put a dent in seafood boil and for the most part a huge success! It's a nice space and can accommodate probably 100 people. No issues inside, it was nice enough and we were seated quickly without a reservation. Here is the meat and potatoes of this - the review. As far as the seafood boil, amazing, we destroyed a whole Dungeness crab, 2 pounds of crawfish, and a pound of clams in hot sauce like it was nobody's business- so good! As far as the chicken wings...they were ok. The fish and chips...hard no probably the worst I've tasted. I would compare the fish and chips to chucking a microwave dish, or your keys, the cat, laundry, into the oven at 3am after a bender. They will all taste the same I'm guessing, just not good. So.... In my 52 years being in this human body, I HAD never had a boiled in bag anything. It always allows so good and to be honest, I love messy foods, like chili cheese fries or a wet burrito. My husband thinks the whole concept is stupid and almost everything included are things we would never eat. So, I went on Yelp and Google and all the resources to find the best place to try this that's near me. Cap't Loui is 5 minutes away from me and also next to the place where I've been going to get my nails done. Perfect! I went during lunch and got the special that had shrimp with the heads off. I got the Loui sauce hot. I ordered eggs as an add on. First of all, I felt like the portion was large. The corn and potatoes are super filling. Adding the eggs was because I love eggs and I've been upping my protein intake. I was stuffed and didn't think I could finish it all. It tasted so good so I kept going. I had fears that the potato would be underdone and hard, but it was perfect! Corn was still crunchy, everything was chefs kiss. My server was really sweet. I told her I had never been there before and didn't really know what to do. She had brought over a bucket and I was just looking at it like, uhhhhh. I usually go to hot n juicy but wanted to try out this new place near me. I went during their lunch special hour which I recommend since it is a bit cheaper than their regular prices. I didn't expect much since I loved hot n juicy, but boy was I surprised!! Their sauce is SO GOOOD. I got the shrimp with their mild special sauce. 10/10. Shrimp was fresh as well. The sauce was buttery, savory, with a hint of zest. Delicious. Only complaint is that there is too little sauce! Yea they were a bit skimpy on the sauce but I made it work. Calamari basket was okay but the fries that came with it were really crispy and good. The calamari had a weird oily after taste so I might skip on that in the future and just get the lemon pepper fries. The resturant was pretty big and had lot of seating. Came here on a Tuesday and got to experience their special for Oysters! Only $1 each. They were amazing too, so fresh with no weird fishy or briney aftertaste. We also ordered a pound of mussels, as well as a pound of shrimp both with their capt loui sauce and it was so good. Many times when you go to a boil, they overcook the protein, but these were cooked perfectly, easy to peel, and delicious. For those coming soon, they have a special for a whole lobster. The special is $28.99 for a live lobster and it, as well, was cooked perfectly and SAUCED UP. Value is the key word, everything was quality and value and worth every penny (everything was very well priced at that). I went to Cap't Loui in the afternoon on 04/02. I read a bunch of reviews about the fish and chips. I thought I'd go try it out. I order the fish and chips basket with lemon pepper fries. I also ordered 1/2 pound of shrimp boil with Cap't Loui sauce medium hot. The fish and chips was delicious! They gave you five strips of fried fish. The batter is not your original fish and chips batter. It's kind of like a panko breadcrumbs batter. The batter is super crispy. I had to ask for the malt vinegar. But it is super yummy! The Cap't Loui sauce medium hot was perfect amount of spice for the shrimp boil. I will definitely be back for more! I'm tempted to go back today. I went back today on 04/03. I arrived sometime after 7:30pm. I got seated and the server took my order. An hour later I'm still waiting for my food. At 8:36pm the server came by to apologize saying the kitchen is backed up. The couple that came in after me and order after me was already eating before 8:30pm. It is now 9:02pm on a Friday night and I'm still waiting on my fish and chips and 1/2 pound of shrimp boil. Another table that came in after me just go their food at 9:02 pm and I'm still waiting for my food. At 9:03pm I got my shrimp boil. I'm still waiting on my fish and chips. I finally got my fish and chips at 9:12. I didn't even get the pail for my shrimp shells and head. The cold corn just tasted like grease. lLet's just say cold food just doesn't taste the same as when it's steaming hot. Even the fish and chips tasted warm when it came out. This time was a real disappointment. I was going to bring my son with me this time. Thank goodness he didn't come. This was a big disappointment. The food and overall service sucked. We first tried the Summerlin location, but the Henderson one is a lot closer! It's located in Silverado Ranch, and I'd say that parking isn't an issue in the plaza it's located in. The place itself is pretty spacious - I believe it replaced the old Seasalt. The service is good, and it's pretty chill in there. The server charged my friends 2dz and another 2dz for us. Okay, we understood that it could be a mistake so we're like okay no worries, just ask for the right one. But when I checked my receipt she also charged me 1lb for the mussels when i originally ordered 1/2. Yes she repeated the order and we agreed because she said it correctly DURING THAT TIME. I would've corrected her if it was wrong. But when we came back inside trying to get an explanation she insisted that we ordered 1lb of mussels. And that we got a free side of sausage, i mean no shit, it comes with the combo A special. We're not stupid enough to order more than 2lbs when we clearly asked if we could get half of whatever seafoods as long as it becomes a total of 2lbs. We asked for her copy when she took the order and she said it was no longer there and that she threw it. She also said they can only refund if they get the food back, we're not expecting a refund nor i give a shit about paying extra $5 for the mussels but just admit to your mistake and don't charge people for food that they didn't exactly order. My boyfriend had been wanting to go to a crab boil for some time, and I thought fathers day would be a great time to finally fulfill that wish. I used to like hot and juicy near my home, but they stopped maintaining the space and the booths had seen better days. Their was another spot viking boiling seafood which was clean and a less rustic in vibe, but I was not a fan of the signature sauce. So I hoped that third time would be the charm in the battle of the south side crab boils. The inside is spacious, so they are ready for a large volume of people without being crammed to close. The tables and seats were clean and comfortable. No ripped seats here hanging on for life. We ordered half a pound shrimp, half a pound snow crab, half a pound of clamsa, half a pound crayfish and a side of garlic noodles. We initially had our baby with us (before it became clear he was to wild for a restaurant that day and I quickly dropped him off to be watched at home) so we had ordered two sauces. We had them on side instead of cooked in the bag. One was an extra cost. When we got the seafood I realized I didnt have a good concept of the size of a half pound. If you are sharing an item with anyone I recommend ordering a full pound. This is because they mark some of the items up a lot for the half pound. For example we got the shrimp with head off for for 15 for a half pound, when a whole pound is 21. Since we wanted another half pound bag we paid 30 dollars for a pound instead of 21....that sucked not gonna lie. We also did the same for the snow crab. So 52 dollars instead of 46. So we paid an extra 16 total for that mistake. This was all a bit annoying but what actually got me upset was that with the other bag we would again get a sauce, but we had ordered two sauces initially. We asked if our 2nd extra sauce could just not be charged out as we didnt need a third sauce to use for this second bag. The answer was no its already in the system...what kind of restaurant a system that prior to finalizing the dinner the check cannot be adjusted? An extra sauce is 6 dollars mind you. If it weren't a special occasion I honestly would have probably not made the extra order for 2nd bag because I was urked by being upcharged so much, and the lack of flexibility. The actual sauces were really good, I will give them that we got both the mild lemon and the medium spice house sauce. For the third sauce we basically got just because we were going to be charged regardless we got the mild house sauce. I preferred the medium. I think the spice added more flavor and not just heat that balanced out the other seasoning. The clams were a bit more attached the shell, and very thick shell clams so a lot of the weight was in the shall more than normal. They put a potato and corn in eat bag as well. I enjoyed the garlic noodles and thought it was a fun addition to this style of food. You can have them come on the side or in the bag. If we did the sauce in the bag I would probably have the noodles come in the bag as well. Overall the cleanliness, comfort, and flavor would have me return. I just will be more mindful how I order next time to get the best pricing. read more

While there, what the heck - why not get a pound of live crawdaddies and headless shrimps! Not only was every bite fresh tasting, there was no "fishy" flavors and the Capt Lou sauce had the absolute ideal blend of spice and pop. An interesting characteristic I noticed is that everything had an even level of hot temp throughout the bag and remained that way the entire time we ate! I would be remiss not to mention the steal of a deal the oysters are. Each oyster schucked clean with no shell fragments and each piece was ultra meaty.
