I have been going to Venetian Nails Spa for 10+ years, for my gel nails and pedicures. They recently changed ownership and have elevated their services - if that was even possible! The VIP Pedicure is amazing! It might seem a little pricey, but considering what you would pay at a high end hotel spa, the cost at Venetian is not costly. Also, they have added "Head Spa" services. I just tried the 90 minute treatment and it was so relaxing. Keep in mind that this is not a hair salon, so you do not receive a full blowout. They dry your hair after the scalp treatment but it is not a full blowout. I am sure they would let you style your hair if you wanted to. I could easily pay for services at a higher end hotel spa, but the service I have received at Venetian Nails Spa is excellent . read more

My sister, mother and I had gone to get manicures today! It was our first time getting our nails done and they honestly made our first experience feel unforgettable. They offer many choices in nail color and even Christmas themed nail decorations that are free of charge if you are a kid! The staff were so sweet and considerate! They offer many choices including mani-pedis, gel or acrylic nails, and even a bar with multiple choices of drinks! Not to mention the nails in general! I would fully advise not to get your nails done here. It's unfortunate they have 4 1/2 stars because it's extremely misleading. My two services were he'll pedicure and a new set with gel collie. Got a regular pedicure which didn't include the orange scrub or callous remover like most places. The lady was rough removing my shellac coloring and filed skin off the knuckles of my toes. Both my big toes were tender to touch after, lasting for the rest of the day. During my full set he burned my nail bed multiple times from having the dremel thing on too high. He didn't push my cuticles bavk and then to make it worse he cut me multiple times (see photos). The new gel powder didn't even reach to my grown out cuticles so now it's a couple days after and my nails already look grown out. Furthermore, the color doesn't even cover all of the nail?! Like seriously? This place is terrible and takes no pride in their work. read more

At every appointment I am always greeted by name, offered something to drink, and served promptly. Prices run about $50/fill and worth every penny. Every tech is obviously highly skilled and strategically recruited. Nails are always thin, and beautifully custom-shaped. The durability of the product, coupled with the variety of colours and hand-designs is guaranteed to impress!! These folks are FAST if you're there for a fill, and pedicures are always on-point. Make yourself comfortable in one of their massage chairs and enjoy some time to just unwind while your feet get sandal or red-carpet ready - you deserve it!! If you want your heels bladed instead of pumiced, don't worry - they'll ask!! I have occasionally canvassed the staff and ownership for advice on colour/design trends, and every single suggestion I take results in so many compliments at the office and on the street. They are also the highest $$ for basic shellac colours at a whopping $22!! I felt rushed due to the overbooking of appointments! I had to fix shaping mistakes and noticed several application errors. Came couple months before, forgot to write my review. I was surely mad with the service and how my nails were getting done. My shellac nails cracked after not even a week after I got it done. I could even peel all my shellac nails off by myself after two weeks. While I was doing it, the guy who was doing my nail were cleaning extra nail polish with his nail but somehow another colour got on my ring finger. When I was telling him that, he claimed he didn't do it and he couldn't even see the other colour got on my nail colour. They plucked my eyelashes!!! It hurt. They used nail glue as an adhesive. I had to go get them removed shortly after them being done, as they were so spaced out, I looked like a crazy person. With that said, they have super low prices, but you defiantly get what you pay for. I don't recommend this place for anyone for a fill. They pluck out all the existing ones you have and put on a new "set". The adhesive they used is hell to get off, I went to Lash Out Lounge and paid for them to remove the ones that were left, and because it is not eyelash glue, the eyelash glue remover doesn't work so well on it. #saveyourself read more

Had an acrylic fill done yesterday. They do NOT sanitize their files or e-files. I have an open cut on my pinky from the filing. My nails are NOT all the same length, and there was gel on my cuticle and index finger. Needless to say, I'm furious and never going back. read more

I go here for eyelash extensions and they usually do an amazing job and they last for 3+ weeks. However, the last time I went they did a terrible job. 1. She removed all of the previous lashes VERY roughly - To be clear I did NOT ask for a lash removal. 2. The fill was sparse 3. They tried to charge me for a removal on top of the fill without communicating that they were removing them OR that I would be charged. 4. More than half fell out within the first week. The first thing I noticed when coming in through the doors, was the overwhelming smell of chemicals. I had a manipedi, and after an hour and a half, my head was throbbing, and my nose was running! I feel bad for the people working there, since they'll probably all get cancer. Also, in terms of sanitation, they do not use plastic liners in the tubs. I'd say save your money and avoid a headache. They took walk ins and ignored the five of us, we all had appointments for over a month. They made us stand at the front while they started with new clients when we weren't done. We got major attitude from the staff when we complained that our toe nails had not been painted. A great deal of the equipment was re-used between clients. There was horrible customer service. All of the acrylic nails turned yellow after less than a week, and I'm a non-smoker! Cuticles were not pushed back so acrylics looked a month old after a week, no care to details. Very very disappointing. My mom has painful joints from arthritis and when I asked that the nail technician be more gentle he became very rude and said he was being gentle. The parafin foot wax was burning hot, even other clients were complaining but we were all told "its always this temperature" and they continued to shove the wax on, which i later had blisters from. If you see this salon RUN away...fast! I'd give zero stars if possible. read more

I have never had an issue - and would recommend for regular upkeep and maintenance. If you are looking for a spa like experience - this is not the place - but they get the job done, are friendly, efficient, and you can almost always get in as a "walk'in" - though I prefer to make appointments in advance with either of my favorite techs there (Van or Ming). read more

Let me start this review by saying it is hard to find a Good nail place in Calgary! I started going here 2 years ago after I moved to Calgary, it was referred to me by a dear friend after I had gone through a few bad experiences in the city. This place is the only nail place I would go to while living there, and still the only one I go to in Calgary when ever I'm in town. It's extremely busy all the time for a reason; I go in for nail fills and pedicures. I would say 8 out of every 10 times my nails are perfect. I do agree with another reviewer that if you get some one you like, remember their name and ask for them. Cindy is great and efficient, so is Hannah. The staff is always very polite to you, very friendly, and generally quite efficient. They are hard working and truly do a great job making your nails pretty. I feel like they are really accommodating in many ways, although, perhaps a little Too accommodating. They don't seem to really turn people away, so sometimes I found myself waiting 10-15 extra minutes, and on a couple occasions up to 35 minutes after my scheduled appt (one was during the holiday season, so it is understandable.. where Don't people wait during the holiday seaon lol). Regardless, the service speaks for itself, I would say it's worth the wait.. even if it's a tad frustrating at times. I believe there are pros and cons to everything, as long as the pros definitely outweigh the cons then everything is goood - no stress :). I'm still a loyal customer to Venetian, and I will continue to be. :) The pedicure chairs are very comfortable and look great, they have plenty of space and seem to be doing some internal expansions / remodelling, which is great because that may just be the solution for the times of extra waiting! lol The place is nicely set up, it's open concept and doesn't feel cramped, even when very busy. Cleanliness is quite good as well, I'd say 9/10. My nails always last, I rarely get chips or any breakage in between fills. My pedicures can usually last until every second fill. I'd say I get my fills done every 2 1/2 - 3 ish weeks. The quality of the product they use is really great given I rarely experience chips/breaks. She did clear and you can see every bubbl and gap and... they re just terrible. I have been to this salon several times. Generally good however the staff doesn't interact with the clients only with each other. The last I was there was the worst nail fill I have ever had. I needed a new set of nails and instead of soaking the old ones off slowly she decided to pry they off. The pain was unbearable and she even had me bleeding. I told her several times she was hurting me but she was very dismissive. I told the owner it was the most painful manicure I ever had and she offered NO discount or even seemed to care. I have been going to the Venetian for the past 10 years. They are always consistent and I am always completely satisfied with my services. I have had everything from regular polish changes to gel, pedicures and shellac. Its the only place I will get my nails done! Sacrificing the experience of most customers (with appointments) in order to accommodate absolutely anyone that walks in the door. Fantastic nail salon !! I have been going to Venetian Nails Spa for over 2 years and I find my nails (shellac mani) last 2+ weeks and my shellac pedis at least 6 weeks. I don't find my nails chip or break. Ming is who I usually book my appointments through and she does a fantastic job. I tried a few different technicians there and once I found the one I liked i have stayed with her. The salon is clean and alot of natural light comes in so the area is great. They have a TONS of colors to chose from which at times can be a problem in picking just one !! The pedi chairs are great and provide neck/back massage while having your pedi. I would suggest booking an appointment as they do welcome walk-ins and this will ensure your time and the technician you want. Nancy is fantastic and is usually who you will deal with over the phone and when you arrive. My daughter and I will usually go a few times together each year for pedi's and we find the staff very accommodating and they do have a back room should you bring in a party of 4 or 5 people. This would be great for a girls day out or a birthday party. Their prices are comparable and affordable. The hot wax treatment with the pedicure is a must.....love it I would recommend this place for shellac nails as each time my experience overall has been great. DO NOT! I repeat DO NOT! get eyelash extensions done at this place! They do not apply them properly! They will glue on 8 eyelash extensions to your 1 natural eyelash so when they fall out they come out in giant clumps and therefore you have huge spaces! Plus when one of these clumps fall out it takes a bunch of your natural lashes with it. When I had this disaster removed at a certified lash salon (where I will say they afterwards had a full set applied PROPERLY) half of my natural lashes were missing! I looked like an idiot. Would not recommend this place to even my worst enemy! Bleh horrible! read more

The second time I went there and had a "fill", they felt like they were pulling every lash off and then putting on a whole new set of lashes.. Then they did not last barely a week and a half. I will never ever go back they are very disrespectful! I've been going there for many years. Even when I moved back east for work...I would wait when I travelled back to do my nails from them. Recently I had the worst experience!! Now that I have a baby it's very hard to work around your schedule with these. If there are any mothers out there you know what I mean. I made an appt to only find out when I get there that the specific nail tech that I made an appt was busy. They will just tell you to come in so they can get as much foot traffic in the door and pass you around. Speak Vietnamese behind your back. Funny thing is I understand the language! They say some rude shit I confronted them paid and walked out said I would never come back. They are even lucky I even paid. They just want your money while they talk shit about you lol. Worst Experience I have ever had!!!! Dec 2 2014 I had gone to Venetian Nails on Macleod Trail to get a new set of eyelash extensions for a trip I was about to take. We left Calgary Dec 4 and by Dec 7 I had about 4 clumps of lashes left. After returning and now not very happy that my lashes didn't last, I went back to have them removed. The owner of Venetian Nails said she was very sorry and would have her BEST girl redo them and this time she would have them done correctly at no cost. When I left the salon my eyes were on fire and red, this lasted almost 3 days and after going to the doctor I was told they needed to be taken off. I then went to another eyelash salon where the very professional and knowledgeable women told me that Venetian Nails had put so much glue on my lashes to ensure that my lashes stayed on this time I would probably end up with no lashes after the removal... Devastated I have no choice but to have them removed..... Because I have very strong and naturally longer lashes I was able to leave with a few left (about 30% of my lashes left)... I just wanted to tell my story because if I had been a girl with very little lashes Venetian Nail and their improper eyelash techniques I would have bald eye lids... BE VERY CAREFUL THIS COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT MAKING WOMEN BEAUTIFUL ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MAKING A QUICK BUCK.... One of the worst manicure/pedicure I have ever had. She cut me both on my hand and foot and didn't even acknowledge it. No apology even though the blood was very obvious. On top of that the nail polish was all over the skin surrounding nail. Had to ask her to paint a section that was unpainted and she gave me attitude about my request. Never going back read more

I had the Venetian Pedicure done here a few weeks ago before my trip to Mexico. Great place!! They have massage chairs, good foot massage tubs, the paraffin is not too hot, and a huge color selection. For the low price of $50 you can get the whole treatment, including some amazing nail art.
