The posted prices are completely misleading. A set of nails done with basic flower design for $130. $55 just for a few whitw flowers! Then when payments was due they were advertising 20% off services and didn't deduct it to take advantage of a young girl. Completely unprofessional and shady. I am very pleased with the service today. I went for a gel fill and met Lynn. Why i am impressed is because I'm a busy person and this nail salon accommodated my nails immediately and the service was fast and my nails looks way better than when i walked in. It was when Lynn drilled under my nails and clipped my cuticles that i thought to myself i will leave a good review, i didn't have to ask her to do this and to me, these extra steps are what i like when i get my nails done. Have come here many times for both manicures and pedicures; have had an amazing experience each time with great results. The ladies are always very nice and attentive - we only go with an appointment. I noticed other reviews mentioned the ladies being rushed - which definitely happens with walk ins. I have horrible thin nails and they always listen to what I ask and are careful with them. The shellac last so long - any issues they will happily fix. Their pedicure chairs are massaging; and they do a hot towel and leg and foot massage for the pedicures. Highly recommend and I will continue coming here read more

Today I did a walk in appointment for a fix on a nail that popped off because my regular nail tech is in Disneyland. The gal seemed miffed that I wouldn't let her use a nail tip and asked her to do just gel. I've been getting my nails done for years and all through the process it just seemed rushed and like there was no attention to detail. My nail popped off in less than 2 hours of leaving the salon. I wouldn't even call it that. They reuse nail files, keep drill bits in solution instead of auto claving them and their nail lights were not wiped off in between customers. I'm not a fan of going places where the staff speak another language to each other and very limited English to the customer. This is not a place where I would go back. read more

Not so happy after my most recent visit to Happy Nails. :( My first visit was a couple of months ago and I had a different lady do my pedicure than today. She did a pretty good job although I had to shape a couple of my nails myself. This time my experience was not good at all. First she didn't file my nails that good so I had to take a file and fix them all. Second, she nicked my toe when cutting the nail. I screamed out. It didn't bleed but hurt like heck when I put my foot back in the water. Third, she didn't bother to clean the edges where she got polish on my toes. See picture of sloppy work. The polish seemed to either be goopy or my nails weren't smooth because some of them look pretty rough. What is good about this place? It's kept very clean. The first time I was there everyone seemed really friendly. Today not so much. Prices are on par with most places in Calgary. Not going back anytime soon. read more

Update: one of the nail techs left a bubble under my nail which I had pointed out a couple of times over the months (2 fills), once the bubble started to turn yellow, I went to get it fixed and get a fill. The ladies proceeded to argue with me that it was not nail fungus and that the yellowing was a result of food. Needless to say, once the gel nail was removed, my nail smelled like a fungal infection. They fixed it, but did not take accountability for the error, I had a punch card with a free service, which they took for the fill. I would have expected as a result of the issue that they would have given it to me for free. I won't be back after going loyally for over a year. Amazing gel nails, very clean, they have an autoclave right there to clean their tools. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I was not impressed with the pedicure that I received. The polish was sloppy, it peeled off within days, my feet were still rough. I had to clean it up once I got home. My girlfriends on the other hand had a good experience, so I think it was just the technician. I will definitely be back. read more

I usually come here for foot massages. I've had all three masseuses and they are all wonderful. The one hour massage includes hot water soak for your feet, and head, shoulder, foot and leg massage. It's $55 regular but there's a 20% off promo currently until mid March I believe. What I also like about the massage area is that it's a separate section, we actually had a birthday party there and it was super fun and girly, you can bring your own food and drinks and they even have a disco ball lol. read more

I read some reviews today and frankly was surprised anyone can complain about Happy Nails. But, I think some reviewers are just complainers and would complain about a $125 manicure at the Banff Springs Hotel as well. The effort, time, and care the ladies at Happy Nails put into every manicure and pedicure, for the inexpensive price they charge ($70 for a mani/pedi combined) is something no one can complain about. I have been frequenting this salon for over three years sure, has there been a couple mix-ups, or a rush job (caused by unscheduled walk-ins I might add), but no one is perfect and because they are caring and try to accommodate everyone, in my opinion, they should not be criticized for it. There are a million salons in this city, and believe me over the years I have tried many, and can say, without a doubt, Happy Nails for the price, is simply one of the best. I have been having my nail done by Lynn for 5 years it took me a while to find her she does an awesome job. I have other employees do my nail fills and they also do s great job. I had tried the 90 mins foot massage & love it. My massage lady was Ann OMG she was so amazing I had to book an 30 min body massage. I love it so much that I booked an 60 min body massage. If you want to get either foot or body massage I highly recommend it. All of the massage therapist are good but the best is Ann ask for her. read more

Had a French manicure (shellac) done for my vacation. Before I could arrive at the vacation destination the shellac started peeling off. A day later most of the shellac just peeled right off. I don't know why it's taken me so long to review this place.... Happy Nails is amazing. This is my favourite place to get my nails done, hands down in the entire city. They opened up early last summer I believe and are located just on the NE block between centre and 1st SE on 16th Avenue (if that makes any sense). I've come here a bunch of times for shellac, one time I got pride nails last September, mani pedi with a gf. They are ALWAYS accommodating and always go over the closing time without ever rushing you. Don't quote me on their staying late, I'm sure it's not their plan, but I have appreciated it when they've done it. I love their chairs and their shellac selections. The girls are so friendly and so good at what they do. I sometimes show them instagram photos of nails I want, and they do it without a complaint. They often times have specials on - I believe right now it's 15% off shellac mani pedi. Also they have a stamp loyalty card which I think is great. I remember on one particular occasion I came here after a funeral feeling like 8 bags of turds, and they just made me feel like a million dollars. They're fast but don't rush you. Usually one will do your legs and toes and another will start in on the mani. There's a reason this nail salon is called HAPPY NAILS. Cause you're happy as shit when you leave! read more

NOT HAPPY AT ALL!! Came in for full set of old school French tipped UV Gel nails. Nice clean shop, but job was very rushed - I had each of the three ladies working there do one or two of the steps required, as commanded by the head techinican, who was anything but happy. The 2 staff looked nervous and uncomfortable as she barked orders in Vietnamese. I have large hands with a wide nail base, which is why I choose old-school gel but still expect the finished nail to be thin and nicely shaped. I walked out of there with THICK globs of plastic on the end of each of my nails because I couldn't make the technician understand what I wanted.... apparently, trying to have gel nails look similar to natural nails is uncommon and now I have LEGO BLOCKS for finger nails. My next challenge is to find a shop to fix this mess... ARGH! I wish someone would open up a nail shop in Calgary where English was well understood, pride in your craft was apparent, prices reflected the quality of the service and the owner was smart enough to know that good customer service and word of mouth is key to long-term success. read more

Christine is really great at doing nails :) I've had a few appointments for acrylic fills with shellac now and each time I am very happy with the outcome. I don't know exactly what her technique is, but she has one - and she can recognize her own work even if she doesn't necessarily remember you. The price can't be beat either (especially as I am school and have a limited budget). The last two times I've gone I paid $35 prior to tax for a fill with shellac. I realize there's a special on; however, the regular price isn't much more than that. read more

I have been going to happy nails for several months now. I have referred all the girls in my family and clients, they only have good things to say. =) By far the cleanest salon as well! ONE of the many things that stands out the most, aside from the amazing nails they do etc. They give the most EPIC hand and feet massages after getting your nails done or pedi. Regardless if you just get your nails painted or a quick fix. Another thing that is different about happy nails is that they have a stamp card, on your 10th visit I believe you get a discounted service. I have never experienced bad service or even been accidentally cut. Before I found Happy nails, I was jumping around with salons. I have been cut many times as the nail tech was not careful and rushing as they had a line up at the door. I know sometimes it can happen, but happy nails always takes there time and are very very careful! Happy nails is a very busy place, and sometimes they turn away walk ins - which I respect, as they value peoples time and do not rush through appointments to fit other people in. (Walk-ins) and most people end up booking an appt or coming back when they have free time. Anyways, I will end this here! I could write sooo many great things about Happy nails!! I've been going to happy nails for about 2 years, they have an awesome "awards card" where if you get "x" many services you get one free and pretty friendly! They normally do a nice job on my shellac change. My friend and I always ask for Lynn because she's honestly the best and the store owner. Today though we went and Lynn is away on vacation and they charged us $26.00 instead of the normal $21.00. So it makes me wonder if they are just pocketing the extra cash because the manager is away? Also didn't tell us about price increase till we went to pay. The lady was speaking perfect English until we were asking about this price increase. Honestly I'd save the cash and go to a salon that does a better job on the shellac. read more

Do not get your pedicures at Happy Nails. I usually get my nails done there and I would have to give them a 6 out 10 for quality of work. What keeps me going back is they give you a wonderful hand massage after your fill and for no extra charge. Unfortunately, after today's experience it will not keep me coming back. The polish on my toenails is not smooth it's globby, I have visible dry cuticles and dry skin on my feet. On the good side they offer you tea or coffee, the spa is clean and staff friendly. My fingers have shellac on them because they do a sloppy job at painting, and the quality of their shellac must not be that good or they dont let the shellac dry long enough because the surface of my nails always end up really scratched up. read more
