I got my brows done at the Aspen location years ago and they took so much off they ended up penciling them in at the end. ( I have fairly bushy brows.) They looked awful and the shape was completely changed. Recently I decided I would go to them again for brows as I love the manicures they give and this time I went to the crowfoot location and AGAIN they messed them up so bad. They took off way too much and gave them a whole new shape, with out consulting me. To put the cherry on top I have graduation at the end of the month and I am very disappointed. read more

Barely there) the Canadian (O Canada, perfect for the Canadian bikini) and the Alaskan (stay warm this winter, just a little off the sides). Great senses of humour, a very relaxing place and oh so popular; there was a line up of girls waiting and others I could hear inside giggling. The rooms are very dainty, trimmed with pink and clean linen; you won't have any problem feeling oh so special when you get your ``special`` cut. And while you are waiting check out all the delicious bath bombs: birthday cake, chocolate fudge, lemon meringue, mandarin twist, marshmallow cream, strawberry shortcake just to name a few! Feel the luxury of these bombs and smell like them too! Frilly Lilly also give you options on manis and pedis and for you overtly furry girls out there, chin, brow and back waxing. I have been to the Frilly Lilly in McKenzie Towne with no issues in the past. This time I went to the one in Mission. I was getting my face waxed. I found the girl that did it not as friendly as I've had at McKenzie. Also, 5 days later, my face still feels "sticky" (and I do wash my face regularly). Normally it feels smooth after. However, my pedicure was very nice and the girl that did it was very friendly. I was only 5 minutes late for my appointment because I was at another appointment a few blocks down the street that ran a minute over, and I had to walk to this appt. I didn't hear my phone but when I left Frilly Lilly, there was a message that was left at 1:05 (my appt was 1:00). One of the reasons they gave was the girl who was doing my waxing had other appts. Funny, how when I was getting my pedicure just after, she was sitting in a common area on her phone. I don't think 5 minutes after an appt start time that it's necessary to get a phone call. Especially in an area like Mission where the parking is very limited. I've never experienced that with any type salon I've ever been to. Think I will stick with Frilly Lilly in McKenzie Towne, their service is MUCH better. read more

This is more of a treat place for me because it is more expensive and time-consuming (because of scrubs and massages, etc.) than other nail salons but it is so worth it. My nails look fantastic and last much longer than when I get them done elsewhere. I do prefer massage chairs rather than the seating area provided for pedis but they do such a great job here, I can easily overlook it. read more

It wasn't until Yelp Elites had an event at Frill Lilly when I discovered what Frilly Lilly was all about - so thank you Yelp! Frilly Lilly has many locations all around Calgary, a couple in BC and one in the states. They have the cutest boutiques that specialize in waxing, manicures and pedicures, and have their signature bath and body care products for sale as well as gorgeous jewelry and accessories! This location is in the heart of Mission along 4th street SW. Parking can be hard to find as there is a lot of permit parking in the residential areas and the main streets can fill up fast so just keep your eyes out for parking! I met Katie at the event and from all the information she spoke about, I knew that I wanted my first waxing experience to be at Frilly Lilly so booked an appointment shortly after. Katie is just amazing, actually all the staff is quite amazing over there. When you step in, you're instantly greeted with a warm and happy welcome from the team and if you're early for your appointment you can browse all the beautiful jewelry and look at their bath and body products. The waxing process is very well explained, they go through exactly what they will be doing and why and they also give you a good after-wax care explanation, what to do and what not to do - they use top quality wax for our waxing needs. It was a great first experience, sure it can be a little weird for some but they're making you all fresh so be happy ;) - With Katie, I was not uncomfortable at all, we talked the whole time and she made it quick and painless! If you're nervous about your first waxing experience, I would say go to Frilly Lilly in Mission and ask for Katie, she is so so great. When it comes to hair removal in delicate places, I trust Frilly Lilly! I've been going here for almost 2 years. I have received consistent friendly and professional service, particularly from Erin. You pay a bit more than the average salon for hair removal, but I have tried other places (i.e. Stillwater Spa, Curious Hair Skin & Body) which do not compare with Frilly Lilly. I think it may be the type of wax & technique used which does not seem to irritate my skin and is less painful. Frilly Lilly also carries some lovely-smelling lotions/ butters, body mists, lip balms, bath bombs and fashion accessories. It's a good place to also pick up some yummy smelling gifts for yourself or female friends. My favorite is their pink sugar lily fragrance; it's infused with green tea and delicately smells like a cupcake. read more

OK, I feel like I am going nuts because there are SO many super positive reviews on here, but in my experience, with regards to eyebrow waxes, regular and gel manicures, this place is just not up to it. And for some reason I've gone back several times (I love so close by...). I asked for a modest waxing - I like the "big brow" look and expressed as much to the stylist. I got really small brows, completely re-shaped. Took me months to get back to myself. I got a regular manicure and sat there to dry for nearly an hour, only to have the polish chip off less than an hour later on my hands, which were not being used for anything vigorous! I was offered a free gel pedicure on twitter and popped in to get one done with a stylist in training, and the colour selection wasn't great and again, the gel polish just chipped right off the next day while my feet were in shoes for the afternoon. On top of all these service issues, the cost is a little high and though the décor is super cute in this location, I really need to stop wasting my hard-earned money here. There are way better places that charge way less, IMHO. :) read more

The better the equipment, the more experienced the person who does the waxing, the less pain and discomfort. Really - now I'm done. Frilly Lilly is a great place. While I'm waiting, I like to browse their jewellery - it's right up my alley. I never have trouble getting an appointment. For the most part, their employees are very friendly and help keep the conversation going to take your mind off the task at hand. My experience at Frilly Lilly was sadly not as I hoped for it to be. I had come in for an eyebrow waxing. The store itself is beautiful but the service was not to my liking. There were several girls all behind the counter chatting and didn't care to acknowledge me besides the "what's your name?" I waited awkwardly for them to call me in and even the other person waiting there with me felt extremely uncomfortable which considering a wax is such a personal thing I would want it to be a better atmosphere. The end result I didn't really like. She waxed too much of my eyebrows and made it extremely short. The experience wasn't extremely awful however I would much rather spend my money elsewhere. edit: I had decided to give Frily Lily a try and got an appointment with Megan to get my eyebrows waxed. Megan is extremely outgoing and talkative (something I don't mind.) She lifted up a mirror and asked me what shape I wanted and followed what I had asked of her. She really listened to what I wanted and really seemed to know what she was doing and actually enjoys her job which made it easy to get comfortable with her. If you don't mind talking during your appointments I would really recommend Megan for your next appointment. read more

Frilly Lilly is an adorable little salon spa in the heart of Mission. I have only gone there so far to get the gel nails as well as a pedicure. I have always had such excellent service and all of the girls who work there are just so sweet and professional. They carry a ton of really great smelling beauty products as well as some of fabulous accessories and purses. It is basically just a really girly place to hang out and get pampered. I know that Frilly Lilly is a chain or franchise operation but it seems that the individual owners really know how to make it unique and beautiful. I would love to go here again for some more spa services. read more

I have been to most of the locations, based on where I live and work. This was my first time at the Mission location, but felt comfortable going there as I've had waxing done before and I like how they do it. I had a sweet girl named Lisa-Marie, wonderful Aussie, and truly made the whole process a great experience. As I was going away for my honeymoon finally (two years later) I wanted to be "fur-free" so I didn't have to shave. I decided to go the Brazilian and full leg. Being my first time with the Brazilian I was super nervous and worried, but Lisa-marie talked with me the whole time about her life and travels and it was done super quick, with minimal pain. She gave me after care instructions and used all the wonderful products. I will continue to use them for my waxing and pedi needs! read more

I'm sorry to say that I didn't have a great experience at this salon. Though I agree that the service is superb, the quality could only be rated as fair based on the price that I paid. I was scheduled for three services on my first and only visit to Frilly Lilly; a Brazilian wax, regular pedicure, and shellac manicure. Let's start with the wax. The woman who performed this service was very friendly and made me feel incredibly comfortable during this rather uncomforatable procedure. The wax used was said to be "the best" but it hurt and it couldn't remove all of the hairs, leaving her no choice but to tweeze a lot of them. Ouch! The final result was far from hair free. The pedicure however was excellent! My favorite part was the foot and leg massage. I literally fell asleep it was so relaxing. She gave my toe nails a nice shape and length and applied the polish just so. For my manicure, I asked for the shellac since I was going on vacation and I wanted the polish to last longer. I was pretty disappointed when it started chipping and peeling after just 2 days. In my experience, the bad outweighed the good and I likely won't be returning to this salon. read more

The best wax I have ever had!! Had a brow and lip was- they used hard wax (I think that's what it's called) so there are no fabric strips. Just let dry and rip off. This is actually perfect for shorter hair grow so you should have to go back less. Also a very cute little store with body care products, and assessories. Go and go now! Came here for a full leg and full arm wax. I would have to say that the place is well kept and organized. However, when she was doing my legs and arms, she pull the strip off in 2 strokes, which I felt discomfortable, but was okay with it. However, after a day of my waxing, my whole legs and arms got very very bad allergic reactions. Now I know people would say that it's something with my body, but I've been to various places in Calgary as well as in Ontario, where I went for university, and has never had a problem after waxing. My legs became so red and 3 or 4 days later started to swell really bad. I recovered for almost 2 weeks before the whole thing went away. I'm not saying who's fault it is, I'm just writing about my own experience. But I don't think it's a coincidence that I've been to so many places and this is the only time I've experienced this. read more

This is my go-to spot for great waxing services. The rooms are cute,clean and comfortable. The ladies that work there always take their time and are very thorough to make sure you leave happy. Also, they use a hard wax which takes out the hair with less pain than waxing with cloth strips. My last session for a Brazilian with Crystal was great. I just had the best waxing experience. Granted they took way too much off, but I suppose that's what's in fashion right now. The salon is pretty, smells good and the waxing rooms aren't dingy or packed into a back room. They are bright, and have lots of nice touches including towels, wipes, sanitizer, lotion etc... The real amazing part is how fast they work, followed by the hard wax they use. This had to be the quickest and most painless wax I've ever had and would go as far as saying I will never, ever be going back to strips again. The attention to detail was amazing too. Went in a for shellac recently and had an ok experience. I'm going to go back again but might book with another technician. The technician was friendly enough but the conversation felt a bit forced. More than that the polish had some issues. It's staying on ok, it's only been a few days. But it's not as good as I'd expect. There was some issue with getting the polish to dry and a nail had to be redone. Really no big deal this totally happens, but I do think the technician was just kind of doing this job because she has to rather than wants to. This place is beautiful. I'll go back, but will pick a different aesthetician. read more

Although I've only had my eyebrows done here a few times, I feel like I've got a pretty good sense of the place. They do a good job of asking me what shape I'd like and such and have no problem fixing things up if I have any problems with what they've done. I enjoy the little shop-like atmosphere in the front and love to browse the beautiful jewelery and bags and products. I also adore the smell of all products used here! Totally makes it worth it. They also use a hard wax which I find a bit less painful. One downside, my eyebrows seem to grow in again fairly quickly after getting them done here. 5 STARS I recently moved here from Montreal and my nails were shot. Really hurting me as some tips had come off I called and the receptionist was sooooo nice! It was Monday, and there was no space till Thursday. I am so sorry forgot the sweet receptionist's name as she deserves kudos as she called the manicurist and the manicurist came in for me on a Monday, when it was her day off. Manicurist deserves kudos. They were all so pleasant and friendly. This kind of service just does not happen. I had a great experience at Frilly Lilly. I decided to get a Brazilian with them after moving to the inner city area and doing a lot of research on them and their practices. It was a pleasant atmosphere, and Claudia was very knowledgeable and professional. It is never comfortable or painless to get any waxing done in the bikini zone, but she certainly made an effort to make me as comfortable as possible. I recently went to Frilly Lilly for my first Brazilian in years. I was nervous, but my waxer Erin made me feel very comfortable. She talked with me the whole time, keeping my mind off of the pain, and she was SO quick. The end result was better than I expected and way less painful than I anticipated! I also really liked how they have the "before and after" products for you to use in the room. The price is a bit high, but when you're dealing with someone waxing your lady parts, I believe that you get what you pay for!
