We are both sailors and can't miss a place which serves coffee and is attached to a wooden boat chandlery. The staff at velocity were very friendly and efficient, they make great coffee, heat a good croissant, and serve a mean blueberry muffin. Outside the main window was a period dressed photographer making a fortune by photographing the passing parade of Steampunkers. Velocity is a nice coffee shop which makes very good coffee. The Pacific Northwest is rapidly becoming my favorite food place in the US. Velocity is good. Go there! read more

We had so much fun at this cute little coffee shop. The staff knew exactly how to make the kids hot coco, half hot, they even made it special looking just like the adult coffee! I have crippling social anxiety, and this is one of the only coffee spots I can go in, and feel comfortable. The folks there are warm and neighborly, and very human. They also do a great job with regional coffees. Like, their Ethiopian actually tastes like Ethiopian... I honestly think some coffee places just BS people, thinking no one will know the difference between costa Rican and Sumatra. But I do, and that's why I would only ever go there. Also, the crowd that goes there is pretty diverse and not all hipsterish. And best of all.... The amazing sunrise from the dock. I will miss this spot. read more

I like the setup inside, with lots of windows, light and beautiful wood. Being a remote worker, I get to try all the local coffee shops to (a) see how good their coffee, food, and environment is and (b) see if they'll let me work there all day, sampling everything, eating up their wifi, and still not kick me out. I can say that this place is one of two in PT I enjoy frequenting. The short version is that they care, and it's a great place to hang out, whether with friends or working through the day. If you get a bad espresso pull, tell them and they'll be genuinely concerned and be happy to make it right. If you want a laugh, just stick around and listen to and watch Joe. He's awesome. Want sensitivity, talk with Sarah (sp?). Everyone here is great, even if I didn't mention them in this review. The only "meh" thing I have to say about this place is the lack of cushy chairs. But that's tempered by the bar, with plenty of space for your laptop, plenty of outlets to plug into and a view that faces out toward the ocean, where you can watch ferry boats and sail boats go by. On nice days, the windows in front of you can be pushed completely open so it feels like you are outside, not cooped up inside. Their wifi is solid as well, and I'm an expert in judging wifi. So, don't go here. It's terrible. I don't want you hogging up my wifi, taking my seat at the bar, or getting more jokes in with Joe than I do. Keep your distance and get your coffee somewhere else, tourist. ;) read more

Velocity Coffee is a great place, the baristas know what they are doing, the place is spotless and beautiful and 'most everything just seems right. However there were two things that disappointed me and I was surprised to find in such a classy place: First, there doesn't seem to be any distinction between a Cappuccino and a latte except for the size (a cap in a 6oz and a latte in a 8oz) no spooning involved. Seriously guys, I expect more. Second, the prices here are very high considering I was served conventional homogenized milk and its well known that Stumptown and Olympia aren't exactly the highest quality exclusive beans on the market. I couldn't help wondering if the price premium was just paying the rent on the fancy building. read more

Delicious coffee, excellent location and great Paleo treats. We loved their signature lattes and my daughter loved the "lemonade fizz". This place is right on the water, near a small beach area, beautiful spot to hang out and drink coffee. My only complaint was that it was a little pricey. $28 for 2 coffees, 2 kids drinks and 2 treats. There was no posted menu, so I honestly have no idea how much each item cost, we selected our drinks based on barista recommendation. read more

It is a shame that such a beautiful place has unwelcoming and rude staff. My husband and his close friend were going to use this place as a regular meeting spot for the planning and creation of their new book. Unfortunately after only their second meeting the staff was unfriendly and when my husband's friend asked for his coffee the cashier asked "Don't you want that to go?" He replied no and was questioned a second time "Isn't that to go?" In a town that calls it self an "Arts community". Needless to say they will NOT be returning. read more

This place is right near the water surrounded by room-sized wooden boats being repaired or aired. It's just fantastic for atmosphere and quality of espresso. I make it a must stop when visiting Port Townsend for the farmer's market or for a stroll with the family to the used bookstore and shops. The espresso drinks are lush and strong. I get extra shot iced lattes and they are delicious especially in the summer. Can't' wait to get back to this place. Wonderful for hanging out to work or write and watercolor. read more

The many times we have traveled to Port Townsend, I have seen this little shop and thought to stop in, but always ran out of time. As the holidays would permit this time, we had some strolling time and were able to stop in for some hot chocolates for kids and some adult beverages. I cannot believe the snobbery, rudeness, and utter awful behavior that the two young baristas exhibited. Having been a barista, there was absolutely no reason for their hastiness, sharp commentary, and lack of customer service. I would NEVER go here again, and would tell others to not take/waste their money at this establishment. They had the nerve to pour less in the cups then what cup space allowed but charge full price, and yelled at my brother when he requested a caramel macchiato, stating "this isn't Starbucks!" Really, really poor attitudes. I think they were young girls, one with a really jacked up grill, and the other thinking she was hot as shit, were probably waiting to be rescued from being stuck in Port Townsend. Shitty place, shitty service, and shitty coffee! Just shit! read more
