Velocity was such a cute little place, i was a little confused on what was on the menu (because it didn't seem like they had one) but i asked for a brown sugar chai latte and they delivered! They have 4 amazing homemade syrups (i got the cardamon brown sugar and it was great!) the pastry selection wasn't for me but it had some great classics. read more

Cute coffee shop in Port Townsend! We stopped by around 9am during the week and although popular it wasn't too busy. I went with an 8oz oat milk latte. Neither the coffee nor the ambience are good enough for the staff to be this rude. The first time I went into this place was back in 2020, with the intention of hanging some flyers for my new business. When I asked the barista where I could hang them, he looked at me like I was an idiot and said "um, yeah, we don't do that here". Um, what? What kind of small town community gathering spot doesn't let you hang flyers for a LOCAL business? And was I somehow supposed to know that? Unnecessary rudeness, and no community spirit. It put me off going back there for years. I finally returned, 6 years later, because a friend wanted to meet there. I walk in, set my stuff down, and head up to the counter. Weirdly (very weirdly), they don't have menus up on the wall behind the coffee station, or on the front counter, or even near the front counter. As I'm looking around, clearly confused, the barista is just standing there watching my struggle, not offering any help. Finally, they give an exasperated sigh and ask me in a condescending tone if I need a menu. I say yes, and they point to the wooden beam behind me, which is the absolute most insane spot to put the ONLY menu in the house. Again, treated like a moron for expecting things that are fairly normal at other establishments. I can't deal with these people. The coffee is mediocre, and the attitudes are Seattle-level, not what I expect to encounter as a local in my own community. I was a barista for years, and I get that it's easy to develop a hard crust dealing with entitled customers, but this was beyond. Definitely won't be back. read more

Wonderful gem in Port Townsend! I particularly liked the selection of pastries. We got the gluten free chocolate and it was gooey, rich, and absolutely delicious. They did not show any negativity to my questions or the amount of time I needed to make a choice, they even helped me with my choice of dairy replacement. Which is huge when trying new things! The Bee Sting was made with oat milk for me and it went together so well. Would drink it daily if closer! Absolutely perfect. Even had a beautiful heart on top. My partner was new as well, they aided in her experince. They didn't have any caramel but came up with a very yummy coffee with vanilla, neither of us had to use sweetners or anything. Was great as is. The blueberry bread AND the almond topped orange cake(can't remember exact name) was divine! If close by, check em out!! Each of the Latte's ordered for my mom and partner got its own unique design. For my regular coffee with milk they made sure to check in with me about how milky and wanted it and poured in front of me so it would be perfect. This is my new go to coffee spot when I visit Port Townsend. The location is perfect, right on the water and plenty of outdoor seating. The baristas are real coffee enthusiasts and knowledgeable of coffee, roasting, etc... they are also great at welcoming every guest through their doors. The coffee here is really good, and the view of the waterfront can't be beat! You can sit inside, or get it to go and watch the ferry go by, as there is plenty of tables and seats outside. The pier is right outside the door as well to take a stroll on. The spicy mocha is my favorite, has lots of strong flavor. The only negative, the Staff can be a bit unfriendly. read more

I've been here twice. My first visit was unremarkable. On my second visit, I served a tepid mocha in a water glass. I was pretty disappointed, much like a dog thinking it's going to the park but ending up at the vet. I would have asked for it to be remade properly, but I found the baristas to be a chilly as the overpriced drinks they were serving. I don't mind paying $6 for a mocha when I can actually enjoy it. Excellent single origin coffees are available, as well as artisan style pour-over. Many are dried on the berries before light roasting, yielding truely off flavors for the instant coffee crowd. Strong strawberry and blueberry flavor and aroma with a light coffee backbone may not be for everyone, but this place flippin' ROCKS, if you are farmiliar with this (¿dry?) process. Baked goods seem to re-stock on Saturdays, and I was there shortly after. Excellent selection, service can be a bit slow when there is a line and people request 4-5 minute pour overs (I do).
