We used to try to do Meatless Mondays and it was, for me, frankly miserable. I'm just not meant to be vegetarian much less vegan. However, Veggie Grill makes me rethink all of that. We happened upon Veggie Grill while charging our car. Since we were starving and literally had limited other options, thought we might as well try it. And I'm so glad we did! I'll definitely be driving out to the one in Tustin to hit this place up again. I ordered a Far East Bowl which gave me a choice of grilled tempeh or crispy sesame Chick'n and then came with a midnight lentil mix, roasted broccoli, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, and Thai coconut curry sauce. I chose grilled tempeh which was sort of like a firmer grilled tofu...I've had tempeh before and it was rubbery. This was not anything like that. It was brilliant. And the coconut curry sauce plus all the accoutrements were awesome. I would eat this again in a heart beat. My better half had a VG burger which is a Beyond burger that comes with American cheese, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a brioche bun. He chose to do the burger sans cheese which they had no problem accommodating and he had fries...the burger was really good and the fries were off the hook. The only weird thing about the fries is that they are served (even to-go) in a drinking cup with no lid so we had fries all over the bag by the time we got to the car. This is literally my only suggestion for improvement here because the food is perfection. Veggie grille! It's been a minute. I came in for another vegan experience and veggie grille didn't disappoint. BUT there was some hiccups in service. I came in on a Sunday. It was pretty empty. The cashier came over immediately but I wasn't quite ready to order so he politely gave us some time. Once ready to order, we were taken care of with a smile. Our cashier asked us to use our points we said sure but once the points were taken the system didn't account for our meal we just ordered and didn't add our new points. No big deal, we collected our receipt and opted for a manual input. Moving along. We went over to the drink fountain to grab our drinks and utensils and just about everything was out of stock. Now, I'm all about customer service. So if the establishment is empty, this is the time to replenish inventory and get the main area situated for when customers do come in - just a side note. As we waited for our order the cashier continued to serve us but half way in between our food coming out he made us aware of the dishwasher being broken and half our food needed to be served in to go boxes. Now, no big deal. BUT, again the place was empty. Why don't anyone washing them dishes back there? But I digress. I ordered several things so I'll start with my favorites and work my way down. Sweet potatoes fries came out first and were hot and ready for me. They were crispy and sweet just like I love them. Enjoyed! Caren asana nachos came out second. They were good BUT I had a few things that needed improvement. It lacked cheese. The flavor was bland so I added hot sauce from my Sonora bowl to it and some red peppers. That did the trick. I liked this dish after my fixins lol The chili bowl - outside of it being served in two cups it was good. The quinoa super salad thingy was good. It wasn't exciting. Just a good salad. I The Sonora bowls was the biggest disappointment. They've changed this bowl so much over the years and each time it has gotten worse. You can tell there's a shortage in veggies or shit is just expensive and they are adding whatever they can afford to this bowl. It was bland. The veggies were boring. It just wasn't it. We took two bites and left the rest on the table. Idk I like veggie grille but there's just too much vegan options now to be out here falling short. I'm already a carnivore so if I'm stepping out of my comfort zone I want to be amazed. Hell make me want to switch sides. Drove quite a distance to this location on my birthday to use my complimentary birthday entree because the location near me has been closed for relocation for over a year. My husband and I ordered 2 entrees and then I decided to add half a salad which is half the price of an entree. I was so disappointed to see that the 1/2 salad was the amount I received as my "birthday gift" . I asked the cashier to remove the salad and he told me that would cancel my whole order and void my "gift ". Very cheap and unkind policy. We then went on to the challenge of finding a clean table in the practically empty dining room. When we settled in we realized that the music was so loud we couldn't have a pleasant conversation. We moved outside to escape and realized the music is just as obnoxiously loud on the patio. My husband's bowl had some quinoa in it that was still cold. He didn't enjoy or finish his meal. I enjoyed my food in spite of the overall disappointment of the experience. Hopefully the new Tustin location will have it together. Food poisoning! My Mom came all the way out from Riverside (120 miles round trip) to visit me and we came to this restaurant for a special treat. The music was blasting out, like uncomfortably loud in an almost empty restaurant, but the biggest problem we had was that we both got food poisoning from their truffle mac & cheese, which by the way is not macaroni. Looks like the last time I was here was almost a year ago to the day and as with most things, you tend to forgive and forget a bad experience. I'm back again, not by my choice. A friend suggested we do take out from here. However, I just read my 2019 review and I feel EXACTLY the same today as last year. The portion sizes are teeny-tiny and the quality here has definitely gone south. It's not like my review is only from the last two years. I've worked in this area for over 13 years and used to be a regular. First off, you "What?".... TOOK THE GREEN BEANS OFF THE MENU and replaced it with Broccolini? I know this had to be a Corporate decision, but bad move. They were delicious, when we used to dine in, but last year as noted, I had an issue with the portion size being for a child of three who doesn't eat vegetables! Today, the dressing on the broccolini said Sesame Ginger dressing. Although it was cook perfectly (very crisp, tender, but not raw), something told me that I wouldn't like the dressing. I should have asked for no dressing and Ranch on the side. The dressing was inedible, had a bad after taste and totally lingered. Can't put my words on what the flavor was, but definitely not Sesame-Ginger. We chose items from the photos on the website and once again, the pictures look fantastic, but when you get them, they hardly resemble the photo. The portion was, once again, kid-size, at most. Do we need to talk about the cauliflower? What kind of pieces were those? It was like they took one floret and broke it into the tiniest pieces possible. When I think of a cauliflower appetizer... you'd think it was at LEAST pieces the size of ONE floret. See photo. There is ONE reasonable sized floret. All the other pieces were BROKEN off from the floret, dipped in batter and served. Are you thinking this makes them look bigger? Well, I would no longer even call them "cauliflower"... would you?? I think you are also spending way too much on containers and, therefore, skimping on food. So sad. I don't come here for nice "to go" bags, utensils and containers. They end up in the trash, ok? I bought my friend a piece of cake to share, thinking it was substantial size due to the price, but when I saw it, to avoid embarrassment, I went back to buy another. Take lessons from Stonefire Grill on this. Their carrot cake is huge, for a similar, if not lesser price. Yeah, it's COVID, but hey, IF YOU WANT TO STAY IN BUSINESS, make some changes. The bread was buttery and savory and it was not dry at all like some other places. My partner ordered the the spicy crab cake sandwich. All of the items on the menu is really good, depending on what you like, I don't think you can go wrong with any choices! I like to go with friends so I can "sample" their food! I've come to this place only once before and finally got a full meal this time. I ordered the XX chicken burrito and I think this is better then other burritos i've had around town. The flower tortilla for the burrito is made is such a way that its slightly flaky but still stays together and doesn't break letting all the contents fall out making a mess and its also not chewy where you have to tear it away where more burrito falls away. The rice inside is made with a spice I like but can't put my finger on what the type was. The chicken tasted rubbery and wasn't all that pleased with that part. The drinks that they had available were quite good. I had the organic green tea that had to have sugar added because it tasted sweet but not overly sweet. Veggie grill is always my go to spot, however maybe not this Long Beach location. The customer service is less than friendly here. When our food came to our table, the expediter asked us if we needed anything else, we saw that our meal didn't come with napkins or utensils, so we asked for utensils. The expeditor then proceeded to point where the utensils were, (which were by the soda machine, we walk past them and forgot to grab them as we were running in from a long drive) and rudely said, "the utensils are over there you can go get them" like come on dude, you literally just asked us if we needed anything else and now you're telling us to go get what we need. Throughout my meal, I went up to the counter and asked for a ramekin of salad dressing, he literally answers me with his back toward me, and then slams the ramekin on the counter not to wear it spilled over, but just in a really uncomfortable rude way. This is not the first time he has been condescending and rude to me and my husband at this location. Beware of this guy I don't know who he is but he's constantly acting so superior and condescending. Me and my husband felt uncomfortable, but we didn't say anything. I actually have been really happy with Veggie Grill the last couple times I've been. I feel like they keep improving. I got the Spring Salad and a bowl of lentil soup. The lentil soup was very hot in temp, which I appreciated, and it was very tasty. The salad used blue cheese crumbles (probably follow your heart brand ) I actually loved all of the fresh elements of the salad and trying it with both dressing options, but as someone who has never had actually steak... the steak part wasn't really for me. The counter service is helpful and the food is brought to the table fast. I really enjoy the way the burgers are put together (great fries too!) but I was a little bummed that the old mushroom/quinoa patty didn't stay on the menu. this one doesn't have as much flavor but eaten in the bun with the other components it works well. the patty tastes lower sodium which is great, just was wanting the mushroom flavor to come through. Overall I really enjoy how fresh and tasty the food is, that bulgogi (korean steak) bowl is another good order. The steak in that bowl is marinated well, so I enjoyed the flavors and didn't think too much about the taste and texture being too meat-like. read more

We ate here on a Sunday evening around 7 pm, and when we arrived the line was out the door. It moved pretty quickly though, so we only waited around 10-15 minutes before ordering. We got the buffalo wings, vg beyond burger, and the chargrilled sweet corn bowl. We found a seat quickly, and our food came out 10-15 minutes later. The first to come out were the buffalo wings, and let me tell you, once I took a bite I was HOOKED! It had a great buffalo flavor and still had a good crisp to it. I was expecting more of a tofu texture (I had never been to vegetarian restaurant before), but it surprisingly had a meaty texture, almost like a chicken nugget. I couldn't believe I wasn't eating meat! I'd definitely order these when we return. The vg burger with sweet potato fries and the corn came out shortly after. The burger also had the texture of a beef patty and even looked like ground beef, I was so shocked. It tasted good too and felt like I was eating a real beef burger! The sweet potato fries also had minimal oil on it and had a perfect crisp. The corn was reminiscent of esquites, and had a great grilled taste that complemented the flavors of the toppings. I think my favorite part about the meal was the lack of guilt afterwards! Normally after eating wings and burgers, the food doesn't sit too well in my stomach and I feel (a little) guilt for indulging in fried food and red meat, but I didn't get that feeling at all here.
