Vegan Soul Food is as much of an oxymoron as Vegan Filipino Food.
But, I've had bomb Vegan Filipino Food (and all sorts of vegan food in general as a carnivore).
So, if you can veganize artery clogging Filipino food, you can do the same with soul food with the same end goal....
Delicious eats that taste like the real deal and doesn't make you miss meat.
I've been wanting to try Vegan Mob's soul food. But, I rarely cross the bridge to Oakland and their SF food truck schedule didn't align with mine so was happy to see they opened a location at 90 Charter Oak (ghost kitchen) for pick-up and delivery.
M E N U
Vegan soul food with a touch of fusion; tacos, lumpia, etc.

I do NOT recommend ordering delivery directly from 90 Charter Oak. While there's no upcharge and less fees, my delivery order never arrived. They charged my cc and there's no live person to speak with.
A week later, I ordered delivery via UberEats at opening time (11 am) and my order was delivered within 30 minutes.

--Fried Shrimp (5 pc): Best item! Looked and tasted like the real deal: https://tinyurl.com/5y5tbtke. Hot, golden brown, and crunchy with the seafoody taste of surimi. But not, cuz surimi has fish.
--Brisket: Ran out at opening time so they subbed with extra rib tips.
--Rib Tips: Least fav item. While it mimicked the texture of rib tips with the dry, crispy exterior and meaty center, it had a strong wheat gluten-y aftertaste that the sweet BBQ sauce couldn't mask: https://tinyurl.com/bdhj6vky.
--Smackaroni: Unfortunately, not smackin. Soft [overcooked] elbow noodles in an overly sauce-y cheese sauce with a sweet artificial aftertaste.
--Collard Greens: Second best item, the collards had a good earthy sour tang.
--Tasha's Slaw: Didn't receive it. Guess they ran out because they gave me a side of extra collards.
Overall, unless it was an off day, seemed like a missed the boat on Vegan Mob. The more recent reviews for their defunct brick & mortar location (Oakland) and food truck says, the food isn't as good as it used to be. Hope others have a better experience! read more
