This was a tough place to have been disappointed with the cocktails. They tasted great, not overly sugary, what your typical craft cocktail should be. Somehow after everyone's 4th drink/round our party agreed we felt as if we had virgin cocktails and completely sober! We switched to some Prosecco and finally enjoyed an adult beverage. On a positive note, I will say our server was extremely nice to accommodate a different spot when a 100 person bridal/wedding party crowded our section. The decor is incredible! Lots of cute spots to take pictures. There's 4 vaults. I recommend a reservation for the weekend or get there early. I went to vault after seeing nutcracker. While I was sitting at the bar waiting to order, the bartender spilled a full shaker all over me. He didn't apologize and I had to ask for a napkin to attempt to clean up my clothes. Unfortunately, my blazer is now stained with cranberry juice and there was no attempt by the staff to remedy the situation. We left and would not recommend. read more

The Vault is the epitome of a hidden gem. We started our Thursday at a different bar that people rave about; however, the drinks were mixed horribly and the appetizers left so much to be desired. When we arrived at The Vault we were amazed. The bartenders here saved our floundering Thursday night. The Vault is in the lower level of a fancy hotel in the gateway center region of town. The place is super fancy with many little alcoves for people to take their drinks and appetizers to. The bar itself is on the small side, it can maybe seat around ten people. I told the bartender my preference of drink and told him to surprise me and he did a great job matching my taste. The cocktail had some type of whiskey or bourbon with a hint of lemon and some sweetness to it. I still don't know what it is he served me but it was delicious. My boyfriend had a Butter & Egg Man and he was swooning. The drinks here are quite strong and really well mixed. We also had the duck prosciutto flatbread and the charcuterie plate. The flatbread was absolutely scrumptious I wish we had ordered two. The charcuterie plate was well balanced; however, I was not a fan of the chicken liver pate. My only complaint is that it took around 40 minutes to get our food even though there was only about 5 other people in the bar. Even though the kitchen staff was beyond slow the bartenders treated us really well. I want to go back to Cleveland just to visit here again! read more

If you're looking for something boujee to do in Cleveland, this is the spot! I came here in December for an evening drink and enjoyed the whole experience. There are loads of little rooms to explore, and it almost seems like a maze which adds to the intrigue of the old vault aesthetic. Each room lists its capacity which lends itself well to the possibility of lots of parties in the same night! The drink menu was expensive and featured fresh twists on classic options. I got a potato chip appetizer and the dips that came with it were really yummy and it was a good salty contrast to the flavorful sweet drinks. Naturally, the cost of everything is likely more than it should be, but it's contributing to the overall experience which makes sense. You're allowed to post up in basically any spot, so you might think the service would be slow, but that was not my experience at all! Someone who I assumed was the manager made his rounds at least once every 10 minutes and was very warm and welcoming and truly wanted us to have the best experience possible. This place is confused on who they want to market to. I felt like it was frat boys trying to impress club girls, old men trying to impress their escorts, or older ladies looking to relive their sex and the city dreams in Cleveland. If that's you by all means this place has it. I'm a married ex punk rocker who likes jazz and whiskey, so this wasn't my jam. But still not horrible just won't go back. Drinks, well, for the price I expect more. Not in the sense of heavy pours and big name brands. But nothing had balance. I ordered a sazzarac upon the barkeeps recommendation. This was not the experience I expected for the price paid. Firstly, Allie added extra charges on my bill while planning the event and I had to ask her three times to remove it. The first two times, she simply moved the charges to a different location on the price list as if I wouldn't notice. This set the tone for how the party actually went. Christmas music was being played and I asked twice what music would be played at the party and if I could play my own music. Erica told me that "upbeat house music" would be played and that I could not change the music or play my own. I accepted that. Once arriving to the actually party, I noticed Christmas music was being played. I asked one of the servers if we could change the music and she was very nice. I went back to the party and while I was there, two women who seemed to be in managerial roles came up to me and were extremely rude. They told me that music cannot be changed if I wanted different music, I should've added it to my package. How can I add something to my package when I was never given the option to and I was told twice prior to the party that I couldn't play my own music and my only option was the house music? They were both very rude and overly "nice" while explaining that I should've picked an imaginary music package. I didn't make a big deal as this was a work event. I let it go. The food was awful. The shrimp cocktail sat out all night and was not chilled whatsoever. The bar didn't have bottles that were included in the package details and the bar was an extreme well bar. I did not get what I paid for, like Crown Royal, which was listed in the package I paid for. The tequila was also extreme well and not the tequila listed on the package. Again, didn't make a big deal because the two women in the managerial roles were already hostile with me regarding the music and I didn't want to make a scene at a work event. Vault is one of the coolest places in Cleveland. Their cocktails rival Velvet Tango Room and The Spotted Owl and their atmosphere is on-par with Marble Room. Vault is located below The 9 Hotel & Residences. You'll have to use the elevators in the hotel lobby to get there. On arrival, there are coat racks, followed by glass doors which lead you to a foyer with greeters who will check your ID (if appropriate) and point you in the right direction. -- Atmosphere -- Inside, there are several vaults which have been repurposed as individual rooms with seating or bar service. There's nothing quite like enjoying a craft cocktail with someone special on a coach, inside of a genuine bank vault. The utilitarian aesthetic of the vaults are complemented with prohibition era extravagant adornments that you'd expect to find in the Gatsby house. My favorite room was the central vault in the middle, which is fairly small and quite compared to the busy bar rooms. It's far more intimate and well suited for a conversation, lacking speakers, music, and crowds. One of the large side rooms was blocked off for a private event, so keep this place in mind for a special event. -- Service -- The hosts monitor the different rooms constantly, making sure guests are acting appropriately, everyone has a drink if they want one, and everywhere is as clean as a whistle. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and willing to give recommendations. This isn't some bar where they're pouring cheap shots while half-listening to your order. You've got their undivided attention once they get to you and you'll get a drink that you will remember. -- Drinks & Value -- I ordered the Lajoie's Mezcal and my boyfriend ordered the Mosler's Sazarac. The Lajoie's Mezcal was citrusy but not overpowering, smooth, and served with a flamed grapefruit peel. The Mosler's Sazarac was better in my opinion, a perfect Sazarac finished with a cherry. I'd go for a whiskey/brandy based cocktail in the future, as it seems to be their speciality. Fantastic cocktails all around. The prices can be steep and aren't listed on the menu. Cocktails ran around $16, which is a lot for Cleveland. However, you're getting a handcrafted cocktail by a skilled bartender with top-shelf spirits inside of an old up-scale bank vault. The service is awful, the bartenders do not know their top shelf liquor yet they are willing to pour a $80 glass of whiskey without telling you the price or anything about it. We were greeted by Justine who also made our drinks. Let me tell you about Justine. She knows her stuff and makes bomb ass drinks! I'll def come back to Vault because of her! Super disappointed with our experience. Planned a birthday dinner for a friend here on 2/20/21. Made a reservation through Open Table. We get there and our waitress tells us that as of that week, they were not serving food. At. All, because apparently their food menu was not very popular. No one told me about this when I called the restaurant a couple of days ahead and they failed to update their online menu, which advertised food options, to reflect the change. We asked if we could save a table for when we returned from dinner (we just were going upstairs to the restaurant in the lobby of the The 9). But they've got some damned good classics - their riff on the Blood and Sand is more open, fruity and flavorful than most of them, lifting the taste of the spirits on a sweet high that sets them apart, and their gin drinks made my wife swoon. Plus, you know, if you wanna Instagram your drinks like any dashing hipster, this is the place. It's set in an underground bank vault - four of them, actually - where you can feel that speakeasy vibe settling into you. This is the opposite of a dive bar, natch. It's all handcrafted cocktails and dress-up, and if you're looking to fall face-first into a Keystone then move on. But Cleveland now has, undeniably, three great bars to go to. Very cool place with good bartenders. I had an amazing cocktail here right off the cuff. The place is really pretty with the wall paper and separate rooms. The bar area is really amazing. I think the rest of the place could use a little more effort to keep up with the appearance the bar area puts out. There's plenty of seating around and there are sectioned areas for couples or groups to sit in for more intimate gatherings. You can also get a tour with someone who provides some history of the place. There's a room you can rent out where meals are served in a vault. This is a newer place for me, i went with my parents after an amazing dinner at Centro upstairs. The vibes were very regal and classy, it made me feel like I was mingling in a vip private party. The place Is an old bank redesigned into a lounge/high end bar and all the different rooms make for great entertainment walking around.
