We hired AmeriCool to install the HVAC system in our new build in 2022-23. When placing the heat…read morepump, they opted for convenience instead of paying attention to the design of the home. Whereas the plans called for a unit which exhausted upward, they opted to install a unit which exhausted out the side -- and pointed that right at our front door/porch and directly across several thousand dollars worth of landscaping that had already been installed (unit placement was one of the last install items). Flash forward to winter. Though the weather was typical PNW -- rainy but above freezing -- the heat pump's frigid exhaust created an ever-thickening layer of ice on the concrete porch and steps just outside the front door and along the paver walkway leading to the driveway. Also, the exhaust desiccated several of our plants. We contacted the manufacturer who stated we could build a 4' high cedar slat fence 2' in front of the unit to redirect the exhaust, but this ultimately failed because the unit was tucked into a corner nook between the garage and home. The redirected exhaust built up an ice sheet under the unit and 10' up the adjacent gutter until the ice pushed the unit over on its side. Americool's response: "It happens and you're not under warranty." We worked with another company on a solution which we ultimately performed ourselves -- a wind baffle coupled with gapping the fence slats, a tray under the unit with underground piping to our storm drain, installation of an outlet and placing a plug-in deicing rod in the tray to keep the condensate drainage liquid so it can drain away. On a new build! They could have located the unit anywhere! Or better yet just installed the upward-exhausting unit called for in the plans. Just avoid these fools.

First of all they have to take a ferry to our island which is inconvenient for most businesses from off the island we understand that. The issue stems from their charges they use to come to the island. They charge a flat rate of $250.00 to come here for every customer they have that day they will only come over when they 2 or more appointments. The standard going rate from every other contractor is the cost of the ticket which is $33.00 or up to $75.00 per customer. We had them come and service our 5 year old mini-split it wasn't cooling back in mid September of 2025. We are snow birds and left the island the week after they were here to go to AZ for the winter. We came back on Memorial Day 2026 when about 3 weeks later we tried to use the AC but it still wasn't working. We called Sunset Air back to have fix what they hadn't fixed before. Their charge for the repair in September was $1,219.00. When we called them back they said it would be another $250.00 for the ferry ride plus a $250.00 service charge just to look at it! The repairman was average at best the 1st time he didn't even put it back together with all the screws I had to do it myself. We will be calling the Attorney General to log a complaint about their shady practices. Sadly, Bill Cunningham

After finding a incomplete and dangerous installation done by a competitor, Capital came to our…read morerescue and we have been using them for years now. They installed and take care of our duel zone heat pump system, recently replaced our old hot water heater, service our fireplace, and have done some electrical work. Although we have come to expect the service team members to be highly professional and personable, Last year's annual service tech Gabe and more recently this year's tech Christian, both exceeded our expectations. It seems so rare to find individuals who really love what they, bring gentle humor, can involve you in the process without talking over your head or down to you, and investigate further when something catches their eye, even in a 120 degree attic. It's seems like the concept of being a Craftsman... has been reduced these days to expensive custom tradesmen like wood workers, etc. But I know a business where they still exist and are available everyday... and that of course has been Capital Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric.

Their tech showed up on time and checked out both the heater and AC unit. He said, that everything looked good and I the 273.40 service charge. Approximately, a week later the AC quit working. Being, so close to the service call I called Capital because I felt it could be do to something tied to the service. They were able to have the same tech come in a timely manner. The AC unit had a blown 20.00 fuse. I was then charged 232.00. My concern, that as a business if you want to retain customers is that you look at the time frame and the situation. I felt taken advantage of and would not recommend Capital Heating and Cooling to anyone in the future.

Consistency and reliability are critical when it comes to plumbing, and this company failed to deliver on both. They have cost me thousands of dollars last year and the latest was today.
