We were given a detailed estimate with options from which we could select the work to be done . We did hire them to complete the following work : replace and upgrade our 40-year-old electrical panel, add several outlets to the outside of our home, correct the GCFI outlets inside our home. While doing the work in our attic, they found mold high up on our roofline and snapped a photo for us-saving us from that mess on many levels. A crew of four qualified hard-working electricians were at our home for two full days. Following the work, the cleanup was impeccable. They left it better than they found it.. A bonus was that they made all the arrangements with Puget power, including a follow up inspection. We are CONFIDENT our home is electrically safe and sound. They were very detailed in their estimate, which was fairly priced. Did I mention how polite and patient they were with our many questions? We would hire them 100 times over for any future electrical work, but I think we're good now! AMAZING! I love this locally owned company. They are professional, efficient, friendly, organized and very competent at what they do. My Tesla charger stopped working and it was over a year since they put in the electrical system so I figured it was out of warranty. Much to my surprise when I called them I found out that I was still in warranty! Shocking Difference was at our residence to install a manual transfer switch for us. The showed up late on the date of our appointment 4/14/22. They did wave there service fee for being late. Due to the fact that they had to order parts they were unable to finish the project. I never received a call when the parts arrive. I had to call them to check and see if they had received them and schedule the second appointment. They came out on 5/6/22 to finish the project. A couple days later I had a light flickering issue in our bathroom. I ordered some replacement bulbs and when they arrived I replaced the one that I thought was the issue. Things seemed ok for a while and then we started having the same issue again only the fan was fading out as well. I went and checked the breaker box and you could hear electrical noise coming from it. I called Shocking Difference and tried to schedule an appointment to get someone back out. The receptionist told me the soonest I could get an appointment was a month out. I explained to her we were leaving town and that we needed it looked at sooner. She just suggested that we just use another bathroom. I hung up and called another electrician and he was able to squeeze us in within the next three days when I explained my issue. When he got there he opened our panel and immediately shut that breaker down. When he removed the front of the panel he pulled that breaker and found it was broken and was arcing out. Additionally the breaker next to it was zip tied in and the zip tie was not allowing the broken breaker to seat properly. Which he believed broke when they tried to tighten it down. Now I can't 100% say that this was done by Shocking Difference but, they were the last people in the panel and the issue started shortly after they completed there job. I do know that they showed no urgency to get back out and look after I explained our issue. Since my original review Winona from Shocking Difference has reached out to me and apologized for the above issues. She genuinely seemed to care and was very generous with her refund and she personally deserves 5 stars. I have changed my original rating from 1 star to 3 stars. I wish I could go higher but, the fact that we could have had a fire and who knows how much damage just doesn't allow me to go to 4 or 5 stars with the experience we had. I will say this I believe ownership/ management takes these things very seriously and if the situation arose and I needed an electrician I would use Shocking Difference again. read more

I was having some electrical issues, I booked this company because they were able to come out the soonest (1 week out). When I made the appointment I was told there would be a $60 "call out" fee. I was also told that could be applied to the first labor hour if they stayed to do the work. When the electrician arrived, he was on time and professional. He also informed me that they did not charge by the hour but instead use a franchise model flat rate pricing structure based on the type of work to be done, and the $60 fee was stand alone and in addition to the cost for any work done. I had been waiting for a week already and was not informed of this pricing structure ahead of time, so I had little choice but to agree if I wanted the work done without having to book another company and wait even longer. He managed to find and fix the issue in less than an hour, but my cost was just under $500. I work in construction and I know that the cost for that call was less than $150 including labor, taxes, fuel etc. They made over 200% profit off of me. The strategy of waiting until the electrician arrives to explain the pricing structure is nothing short of predatory, and they have made their last dollar off me. read more

Zeb fixed all of our concerns in a timely manner, with accuracy, for a great price. He explained all of the work he did, how it happened, etc, which made me feel involved. Zeb was great. My lost star is for the callout fee. I think $69 is a great price to get the truck out there, however, when buying into their work, they should discount it to half or possibly even drop the fee. He came back and said he would get all three lights operable. My wife and I bought a hot tub for our new house and needed to have the 240v electrical run from the panel to the patio location.....easier said than done in this case since they were on different sides of the house. I called Friday and made the appointment for Monday. They called me Monday morning and asked if they could come a little early (10:30 instead of 11:00). SURE I said. At 10:30 Shawn and Jared arrived right on time. I showed them what needed to be done. After a half hour or so of looking at the layout Shawn came up with a couple solutions. They wrote up a quote using a standard pricing guide, which I like by the way, and they answered all of my questions. I had a figure in my head of what I thought it should cost (although I am not an electrician obviously). Their bid was quite a bit higher than I was expecting, but being a very experienced tradesman for 25 years in my field of experience I get it. I have always lived by you get what you pay for and after so many years of charging customers to fix the lower cost guys mistakes, I agreed. They started work immediately. And I mean immediately. Wow! Who does that? Very impressed. Why I like standard pricing lists is because this job got a little tougher than I, and I think they, thought. You get what you pay for! Shawn and Jared were on it! They were EXTREMELY professional, super knowledgeable about guidelines and laws (NEC). I see why Shocking Difference may not be the least expensive option for some, BUT THEY ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY! We needed an electrician to fix a mistake that someone did before we bought our home. Before they got here, I was called to let me know they were on their way and who my electrician would be. I also got a text with a photo and profile of the electrician. The guys that came were very friendly, introduced themselves, had me go over everything that we had issues with and then gave me a quote before they started. They were here for a while, but that didn't concern me because they were thorough and they bill by the job not the hour. They not only fixed our issues, but they explained why things happened, and that it could happen again if some other things aren't fixed.
