Weird location, but I think it was worth it. I'm new to the area and was looking for a quick bite to eat late night, so I came across this drive in. I only ordered a hot dog, (which came with the works), and also a small soft serve cone. Both were exceptional, and the price was of the norm for these items. The gyro is amazing. Wonderful; best I have had in many years. We needed a super fast bite to eat that was quick off/on from the interstate and this was perfect. The cheeseburger hit the spot, too. I LOVE Vassi's Drive in. My go to is a New York Gyro, but all of their food is fantastic. The portions are big and I've never left feeling hungry. It's clean, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and I love their ice cream too! If you're in the area you need to check this place out. read more

I won't say that no restaurant, ever, can get away with condescension and impatience towards kids and their parents. Michelin stars, crystal glasses, famed cuisine, screeching babies -- these things can and do give establishments license for such attitudes. But a scruffy little drive-in on route 412 in Hellertown, PA ... visited by one parent with a few polite kids hoping for an ice cream? Not so much. Friendliness and courteousness are part of what one goes to a scruffy, utterly mediocre local establishment for -- what else, if not this? Vassi's have been around since the 50's! A old school drive in with a sit in area and a icecream section selling hershey's icecream. Good food, quick, ideal for a fast snack or take out. I love their wings. Fried chicken wings, very flavorful crust, comes with your choice of sauce. Their burgers and gyros are also delicious. Not much on the menu, but for what its worth, quite decent. Their gyros are not like the one's you would get in a middle eastern restaurant, its much more toned down and blander. Driving down 78 and hungry for a quick bite, take exit 67, ignore the fast food chains and stop by Vassi's. Cheers! read more

This place used to be good. My family and I would eat/get ice cream here a few times a month. In recent visits though the food has been average at best and the service has been awful. I heard the management has changed. Might explain the decline in service. read more

Food is pretty good, but being as I used to work in customer service, it is very important to me. Their customer service over the years have been slowly going down hill to the point where I dont go there anymore even though its down the street from my house. I think the owner has his younger relatives working there now. There are several younger girls that always give me rude looks, barely talks and just seem to have a stank attitude. Not just the girl but the last time I was there I walked up to the counter and was in THE MIDDLE of saying my order when another customer came up behind me and the owner (or maybe not I dont know) told me to wait a minute while he proceeded to take the guys order behind me and his money. Didn't say anything to me about it. then I had to start my order all over again because he canceled it. They have been in business for so long so obviously they're good but their customer service needs some work. I used to go there when I was young and I remember then being SO KIND AND NICE. I am relatively new to the Lehigh Valley and have been living in Hellertown for a 1 1/2 years. I can not say enough good things about this place. The food (burgers, hot dogs, gyros and cheese steaks) are truly fantastic. Their hard and soft serve ice cream is great. I am a true fan of mom and pop shops and supporting the local economy. There is only on bathroom; but other than that this place is fantastic. It's also open all year, which is another great thing. This is my first ever Yelp review. read more

We used to go to this restaurant every time we went to Sand's casino, about once a week, but after our last visit, 4/18/13 we will NEVER return. I ordered mozzarella sticks and when I got them I took a bite and it was still frozen in the middle, so I sent them back. When they brought them back, they brought me back my half eaten mozz stick that I had bitten, they put back contaminated food in their fryer that all of you people eat out of! Instead of replacing them, because of their mistake, they took the cheap route and REFRIED my HALF EATEN MOZZARELLA STICK!!! I have been in food service for 30 years and have NEVER seen this in my life!!!! All I have to say is DINERS BEWARE! I must add I was sick the whole night after eating there yesterday. Vassi's lost faithful customers yesterday, DIME WISE DOLLAR FOOLISH! By the way, never got an apology from management, not that it would have made me go back. read more
