I stopped in to kill some time and grab a pastry! I ended up with a chocolate chip banana bread slice (around $4). It was so moist and delicious, with a nice amount of chocolate in each bite. The cafe interior is really nice with ample seating, although if it's busy like it was when I came in it's hard to find a spot. There was a line of a few people when I came in but service was so quick, they took my order within about a minute, and they were very nice. read more

The staff is very attuned to their regulars, and kinda just stared at me blankly as I was fumbling with what to get for my first time. My order was rung up so fast that by the time I was planning to ask for a receipt, my order was off the monitor and on to the next customer. Didn't feel very friendly, but more assembly line. Get in, get the things, and either leave or park it at a table inside. The croissant was a bit too greasy for me, and the mocha latte was decent. My coworker didn't care too much for the Americano, but was glad we finally gave this place a try. There's always a cluster of people loitering outside this place every morning, so I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. Overall, it seems like a good place to do remote work, but other than that, the coffee didn't make me feel the feels. read more

Variety is still a nice place, but the coffee isn't what it used to be. And the other options in the neighborhood have improved, a lot. The last couple years great drinks have become the exception more than the tule. That goes for espresso drinks as well as drip coffee, the latter used to always be exceptional. I run on Variety because they play epic jamz and are staffed by musicians and artists of the old school, a.k.a. the real deal. Solid 4 stars. As soon as I entered this location, it was cozy. Everyone doing their own thing, reading, working, talking. I love that, I quickly found a seat in the back & put my things down and proceeded to the front to order. I ordered a mocha latte, regular milk. To my surprise, the vanilla was an add on, found at the milk counter; close to the garbage and napkins. This was my first time in this cafe, so the lack of menu cafe flavors definitely was a curve ball for me. Nonetheless, mocha latte it was. I was also curious as to why there's no in house cups, for people who don't grab and go, that was another first for me. The actual mocha latte, had a cute heart inside and usually I hate mocha lattes but, I loved this. The taste was so rich, and you can one hundred percent, taste the quality of the espresso. It didn't taste like drip coffee, with steamed milk like a lot of places. The quality was definitely present. Overal verdict: if you need a place to get some work done, you like mocha lattes and you don't care much about the extra cups, you just like the grab and go cups definitely visit here. If you want more of a 1 on 1 experience, with the nice cups and dimmer setting don't come here. read more

This place would be nice if not for the crazy amount of flies flying around!!!! It's a very busy coffee shop, with people coming and going. There's a good amount of seating but can fill up fast. I just got a black coffee which was strong and had a hint of fruitiness. It seems like a pretty good place to post up and work for a few hours (forgot to check for outlets tho). It has good wifi and there's a restroom. The only downside, as I mentioned, is that there were like a bunch of flies flying around!! I sat in the back and they were just like sitting on people's clothes/backpacks. Literally no one had food around me the entire time and they were still flying around. As I left, the front of the cafe looked like it might have been better. It was pretty gross. read more

Believe it or not, I live very close to this cafe but never try their coffee. Every morning I walk my dog and pass this place. My dog sometime even interacts with some another customer dogs. My friend who live in LA and came to NYC for vacation, picked this cafe and we meet here. She has espresso and I try cortado: espresso mixed with a roughly equal amount of warm milk to reduce the acidity. We have five minutes to hang out then she has to go for her hair appointment. Some of the best coffee I've had In a really long time. Visited from out of state and was looking for an iced latte to hit the spot, and this one really did. The espresso was very smooth and balanced. Not too bitter, not too acidic, just right. Coffee was fine, I guess. It's coffee. I just looked at my receipt cause I didn't have my phone on me. These people gave themselves a tip on my card. I was never given an option to select a tip. The final total was given as 12.00 and they gave themselves a 22% tip. I worked in service for 10 years of my life, I really would have never dreamed of stealing someones money. A really bold move. So if you must come here, I recommend not paying with a card, because you don't know. There is no sign that says gratuity is included either. read more

The best iced coffee in all of Williamsburg IMO. Been coming here for about a decade and have seen a LOT of turnover and the whole place being revamped. It does look a lot nicer since they updated in the interior, but it's also a lot more packed these days too! Everyone who works here is always super sweet and amiable. Wow, this Brooklyn coffee shop has excellent coffee! My normal morning one cup was stretched to 2 cups today due to the fact that it was one of the better coffee I've had. I can certainly see why this place is bustling and ever so popular. The steady stream of patrons was non stop as I sat on their front bench and watched the hordes of people walking in. Some of the better people watching locations I've seen BTW. The assortment of muffins and pastries was huge and the coffee accouterments were nailed down to so many kinds of milks I wanted to try them all. I'm in New York for a while. Quaint little coffee shop! Great place to stop by after a delicious meal at Mesa Coyoacan next door. There's a classic homely feel here, with plenty of space to settle in for a good read or conversation! Service was quick, and the Mocha was on point! Only drawback was a very slight lack of cleanliness around the floors and such; though it's easily forgiven as there was only one employee, and with the amount of patrons coming in and out, you can't fault her completely; people in general just need to clean after themselves! The chalkboard outside Cho's Variety makes me smile pretty much every morning when I walk by on my way to work. The other day it said: "Graham : Bedford :: Stumptown : Folgers" Zinggggg. Ya'll Bedford cats are some Folgers drinkin mofos. This morning it was: "Coffee: You know you want it" Fuck yeah I wanted some coffee. Then I walked inside and got some. Shit, their advertising worked on me.. I'm such a fish. The shop is always clean, the milk and sugar packs are always full, they have oat milk (!!) along with vanilla and regular simple syrup for cold beverages. I love their cold brew and their au laits. The hot cider is also a nice hot treat in case you're avoiding caffeine. Credit cards accepted and you can tip on your card if that's your thing. But, oh my gosh, the pastries. Ah variety - the favorite of hipster yuppies on their way to work. You can find their coffee cups in every trash can in the neighborhood. This place has decent coffee and super fast service. Don't be deterred by the line out the door. They have a lot of weird muffin flavors - I once ordered a zuccini chocolate strawberry muffin because I thought it was three different muffins. Great place to sit & do some work with locals. It's complete with free wi-fi & a calm vibe. Right next to the Graham Ave L, too. I live right around the corner from here so it's a nice place to get some studying/reading done. There are a variety (haha) of coffee & tea drinks, plus a bakery case filled with cakes & muffins.
