I don't want to gatekeep but also am surprised not more people know about Paloma!! Solid coffee with fire pastries! My partner has shared Paloma's pastries with me previously but this was my first time at their actual coffee shop. I got the NOLA cold brew which was very tasty with the spices and splash of milk. I loved how it wasn't too sweet. For their pastries, the matcha danish is so delicious!! They use matcha from Kettl and blend it with a dark chocolate. The result is a very decadent molten matcha filling. It pairs very nicely with the surrounding crunchy pastry given the textural contrast, as well as the spare sweet red beans at the bottom to balance out the bitterness from the matcha. We got two, one to enjoy immediately, the other to savor at home, because it was so good! Their pistachio pastry was also very tasty with a buttery, flaky croissant outer layer and a pistachio/chocolate mix filling. I'd recommend heating it up at home to maximize the crispiness of the croissant! The sesame bun had a good black sesame flavor with generally chewy bread. This location had a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Loved the big windows with lots of natural sun light. Line moved quick. Drinks/pastries were prepped quickly as well. read more

Fine corner coffee cafe spot on Manhattan Ave in Greenpoint. Not much seating inside but that was ok by me as I just wanted an iced coffee to take outside on a perfect Spring day. There are some sidewalk benches, tables, and chairs around it. My iced coffee was fine and the person working that day seemed ok by me. This is a small location with only some window bar seating and 3 tiny tables. Pricing was as expected for an upscale coffee and pastry shop. Drink was a miss for me and the pastry wasn't bad, but there are a LOT of good options in the neighborhood and I don't know I'd opt for this one. Matcha Latte (1/5): Some liquid with a mouthful of dust - I ended up tossing all but 2 sips of a fairly expensive drink. Definitely not what you want, but maybe their coffee is better. Shakshuka Croissant (3.5/5): I was there just after 9:30 AM and unfortunately, this already felt like it had been sitting for a while. The yolk was surprisingly jammy considering it had to be baked in, but there was actually very little tomato or spices that came through. Hmm I wasn't a big fan of the pastries. Super cool and unique flavors and beautiful pastries but unfortunately they tasted a bit soggy and felt like they'd been sitting out for a while :( The matcha chocolate croissant had a good matcha flavor but was almost too bitter for me. The matcha top also just felt a bit grainy. 6/10 Black sesame pinwheel again good flavor but I think the cream and maybe being not fresh just made the dough super soggy. 6/10 Out of the three pastries the Wagyu reuben was definitely the best. This croissant felt fresher and more buttery and the meat was quite tender if just a tad on the heavy side. 7/10 read more

This location is much bigger than their other location in the neighborhood, but seating is still fairly limited (so I wouldn't recommend trying to set up shop to work here). The barista was kind, my iced latte came out quickly. (Weird note- the iced latte was served in a paper cup similar to what hot coffee would be served in. I could see this getting soggy if you let it sit for too long.) The pastries look amazing! I definitely will be back to try them at some point. read more

Went a couple minutes before closing and they still had a couple pastry options left. They had one of their loaves, a couple of their cookies, and their seasonal Berry Danish croissant. The pastry I got was the seasonal Danish croissant and it was sweet and the berries on top refresh. The pastry was a mix between laminated croissant and cake filling/danish. I've been to the other location (bakery) and enjoyed the savory options when I went in the morning. I would definitely recommend visitors to go early on in the day if they want to have their pick. read more

Really great coffee shop! Ordered their Cesar Llanten. It was super clean and came highly recommended by the barista. They source their own beans and bake their pastries. Very modern and cozy inside. It's a place that takes their coffee seriously. Highly recommend and hope to be back soon read more

Stopped by this coffee shop as it was recommended to me. The Oat cappuccino they made me was pretty standard, but nothing really to write home about. However, I will admit that my standards for coffee are going up, so take that with a grain of salt - I think this place will be great to fit your espresso needs for most people. It's a small space, and there aren't really any tables - a few stools by the window. It's rather lively on the weekend and the space has a lot of natural light. They have a pastry selection too. My friend got the hojicha latte and they did a good job making it not too milky, which I find often is the case with hojicha lattes - it still honors the tea flavor. Glad to have tried this place out. Wouldn't say it's the best espresso, but it will check the box and make you feeling happy if you're most people when it comes to coffee. read more

This is a very clean small Cafe.. Selling their own brand coffee and making various coffee drinks with the same beans. They also have a few pastries. I have been here a couple of times, have to say the flat white I had today was exceptional. In fact every time the coffee is great. It's a bare bones place not pretending to be anything more, but I like that unfussy feel. The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that they serve everything in paper cups. If I am sitting down, even for a few minutes, I want a china cup. On a recent trip to Italy stopping in Napoli and Roma we drank coffee twice a day. Mostly in small one person cafe's. I am a local and regular. Since I moved to the neighborhood Paloma has become an indispensable part of the landscape to me. I buy coffee here pretty much every 5 days because it's very good and convenient for me... like how amazing it is it that I can wake up realize I'm out of high end coffee and go around the corner and have an ENTIRE WALL of options of different beans from different regions. Since I moved to the area I have pretty much only bought from them and I am a pretty picky third wave coffee connoisseur. Aside from the beans the coffee is great. My go-to usually is an oat cortado as I cannot make that at home. All of the baked goods I have tried have been amazing. Vibes are great. Staff is always friendly even with a guy like me who is most of the time just getting a bag of beans. read more

I am a nyc native (from here). I have mild food allergies. I'm allergic to coconut and tree nuts. Unbelievably, this is my first negative experience at a coffee shop. I asked if the drink that I ordered contained my allergen, and the guy behind the register was such a jerk about it. I'm no stranger to the NYC attitude, but I was genuinely taken aback. There was no line at this place. Just a guy who was mad that his customer-facing job involved actually interacting with customers. "I have no idea", he said. "I'm allergic", I said. After 3 passive aggressive and unhelpful remarks from him, I asked if he could check the ingredient list- which they didn't have. "I don't know- it's from Kettl. I don't know what the ingredients are". I cancelled my drink, but had to pay for the ice coffee that they had already made. Just FYI- they give you iced coffee in a paper cup. Not ideal if you're walking more than 3 blocks. The cup falls apart. The baristas were nice, but the entire encounter left such a bad taste in my mouth. If you have no idea what ingredients are in the drinks you're serving, maybe you shouldn't be serving them? If you don't know how to relay bad news to a customer willing to shell out $9 for matcha, why are you working at a coffee shop? So many better cafes nearby- SweetLeaf, Kettl, literally anywhere else. terrible customer service + mediocre coffee. Dude got mad at me for having a cup from another cafe even though I also ordered coffee at this cafe. Honestly feels like the cafe is insecure about perception which makes sense cause every other cafe on the block is miles better. From my experience, every cafe I've been to in the neighborhood has been okay with me holding coffees from other cafes. This specific cafe literally got so scared I wouldn't order anything that they pressed me to order a coffee and then kicked me out as soon as I got it. Dude also made me get out of my seat even though I was literally the only one at the cafe. When literally every other cafe in greenpoint treats you with respect, I don't see a single reason why you'd come here. The essence of a great cafe is where you can show up, take your time with ordering, spend some time having a seat, etc. this business doesn't care about any of that. They see customers as dollar signs. It's ur classic business taking advantage of a gentrified neighborhood. They don't care about giving you the cafe experience you're looking for. read more

This is a cafe, not a singles mixer. I was patiently waiting to order while the barista was hitting on the customer in front of me (flirting to the point that they had to mention that they had a partner). I was fine with waiting for their conversation to end, but the fact that the barista took my order, then continued to compliment the customers behind me, complete their orders, and give them their drinks before mine is the reason I won't be going back there.
