This bakery is basically woven into my childhood. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. Their pastries - everything from fruit tarts to cakes to cream puffs - have shown up at so many of my family's celebrations and core memories. It's the kind of place that feels nostalgic the moment you walk in. Tip: knowing a little Vietnamese definitely helps smooth out the ordering experience. I'm both thrilled and devastated that I only recently discovered their ice cream cakes. How did I wait this long?! The durian ice cream cake was rich, dense, and unapologetically durian-forward, with mostly ice cream layered over a thin sponge cake base. It took nearly everything in me to not lose my self-control - I would have happily inhaled a quarter of the cake that night. The bakery itself is spacious and packed with options, whether you're grabbing something casual or picking out a dessert for a special moment. Sweet, savory - it's all here.
The staff were nice and helpful. I came to get a coconut pandan cake for a birthday. The cake itself was a little dry but the coconut filling was good and coconut pieces were soft. The cream around the cake was dry and stale. The flower decoration was hard and breaking up. The cream for the border decoration was falling off as we were cutting it because it was dried up. So embarrassing! I thought it was just me but someone else mentioned the cake tasted sour! What a bummer. Not coming back here!
Van's Bakery Walking into this bakery feels like stepping into a world full of pastries and sweets , there's so much to choose from. I usually get coffee, bánh lọt with coconut milk, and different pastries. The desserts are enjoyable and not overly sweet , the flavors are well balanced. The bakery is spacious and clean. The older ladies who work here are very friendly, warm, and welcoming. Each location has plenty of parking, making it very easy to park. One big plus is that they don't charge for plastic bags. Even though nowadays, wherever you go, you're charged a bag fee, which honestly feels unreasonable. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5
I had not been back here for decades. It's still the same as I remembered, except less jerkies and plums pickles. Easy parking since they are in a big plaza with big parking lot. Service is nice and friendly. Still got my to go VNese banh gan or dark flan liked. They are or used to known for their cakes for sheet cake, which are quite good with decent price. The place has that comfy vibe for me since they're the 1st big bakery shop back in the 80s and whatever you're craving for (VNese snacks, smoothly, banh mi, etc) they got it and best of all, it's very affordable. They do have a section just for jerky (over dozen plus) in varies type and same with fruit plums. Just love going there and get these snacks.
Wow, very interesting to pass by and check out this Vietnamese bakery. Lots of very unique sweet and savory snacks, and cakes. Love to try the flan and jelly cakes nicely decorated.
I got a coconut pandan cake for Easter, and my future in-laws really enjoyed it! We were celebrating two birthdays along with Easter, so the pretty pastel green color theme of the cake was perfect! Van's bakery is so fresh, delicious, and always packed with people for a reason. I highly recommend the coconut pandan cake. I got a size small for $25, what a great price. The inside is like a sponge cake with coconut shavings in the center with cream, and the cream is not too sweet. It was absolutely delicious. I will definitely come back.
Vans Bakery has been around since I was a little kid and not much has changed about it at all. The cake decorations remained the same but most importantly the quality has remained the same. My parents have been going to this particular Vans for so many years now and I am going here as a regular as well. I ordered my beautiful wedding cake here and it was everything I had imaged. The price was good and the service ordering and delivering the cake was great! The decor was beautifully designed and the flavor I chose was the delicious pandan coconut. It was definitely one of the highlights of my wedding night! Things I would highly recommend here are definitely their cakes. I've honestly tried them all and they are all very delicious. Pandan coconut is my number one and probably my second favorite is the flan jello cake. I would also recommend the pork pate Chaud and also the pandan coconut waffles!
The store is clean and the staff are always nice. We always get our Yule log and other cakes here. They also have a good collection of candies, Vietnamese sweets and snacks. The Yule log is well decorated, moist, delicious and not too sweet. The medium size $58 was good for 14 people :)
This bakery gives off a nostalgic feeling, like mom in the kitchen. They sell a lot of snacks and cakes. My favorite is the fruit tart. It's layered with fruits on top of custard and flaky bottom. A great place to grab and go. The ladies are like OG moms that won't kiss booty. Just tell them what you want, pay, and get out. Super easy, super fast.
Been coming here for over 30 yrs. I get all my custom Vietnamese flavor cakes from here. They always have the best pandan coconut cakes. Friendly service, great selection of cakes, macarons, and treats.
We were celebrating my mom's birthday and got a cake from here. It was so cute and pretty! I tried their crunchy curry beef jerky and xi muoi from here as well. I loved these snacks. I can't wait to get some more!
After having dinner, I was craving for a coconut pandan slice of cake. The ladies mistakenly thought I wanted 4 pieces and packed them in small boxes. Once I reiterated that I only want one slice. Instead of giving one of the slices they packed. One lady told me to wait and she went to the back and returned with my one slice. When I got home, I ate the cake and found that it was wet and sour. I think she switch it for an old slice of cake and rehydrated it. So sad that the one time I wanted to eat cake, the bakery team gave me a bad one on purpose. If I could I would leave no stars. Be aware that their team may do the same to you.
My wife and I went here for a slice of cake and got a white fruit cake slice. What we got was a moldy, sour slice of cake that seemed like it had been gathering dust for 2+ weeks. The workee grabbed it from far behind the counter so we could not see which she chose. I guess she chose to give us this one to get rid of inventory and get some money. Disgusting.

I come here to get Xi Muoi (dried salted plums), seems like the last place that has the super salty kind... And they're sooo good, full body goosebumps as soon as I eat the first one. Staff is super friendly & helpful. Love supporting mom & pop businesses, and Van's bakery is one of them ones. Also, they have a CA Lottery Scratcher vending machine, which is always a plus. read more

Đây là review cho bánh Giang sinh sinh nhất của Van's Bakery (hỏi khách lời bánh khai trung business a). Bánh nay là bánh bóng lần là đưa và kem quốc design. $35. Highly recommended. Old fashioned bakery that I have been going to since a baby. All their cakes are good, light and sweet. Always a Vietnamese flair to their cakes and products. Durian, Pandan, Strawberry, and maybe more if you ask me. Their designs are free and plenty for regulars year to year, every year. read more
Ayo!!!! Happy 2025! 1st review of this new year. I'm from LA and needed to get away from all the fires and stumbled upon this cute bakery that was next to the infamous Cococane sugarcane juice. I smelled the sent of Pandan Mochi Waffles as I was walking by so had to go inside. They were quite busy as there was a line of people picking up cakes, so they must be good. I ordered 1 waffle and walked around the bakery. I was impressed how clean and organized the bakery was with all the different types of packaged goods. The waffle was just had i remembered, Crispy on the outside and moist and chewy on the inside and it's not too sweet which is a big compliment to any Asian Dessert. Staff was very friendly, they accept cards but minimum is $10. Huge parking lot so it's very convenient. Come check this Vietnamese bakery out for some delicious cakes, sweets and snacks. read more
The Full Moon of the 9th month of the Lunar Calendar is the fullest most stunning full moon of the year. It is also celebrated as the Mid-Autumn Festival or Harvest Moon. During this time of the year we have moon cake to gift our family and friends. The people who want to flex extra hard get the expensive fillings to look baller. Van's Bakery is my Aunt's favorite place for moon cake. Since my Aunt helped raise me, I always make sure to honor her with some moon cakes every year. It's funny though because my parents and my aunt like different spots so I make multiple stops every year. I always get her 4 of the Ngu Huong Chay which is a vegetarian fruits and nuts filling. When you gift mooncakes for Vietnamese vegetarians you have to be mindful cause the non specific vegetarian mooncakes all have an eggwash exterior to make it shiny, so the chay one ensures these are purely vegetarian. The mooncakes here are more expensive than other places. Also I don't really enjoy their cakes. They have the super traditional stuff like the coconut cake or fruit tarts you get at Vietnamese birthday parties. Super OG and tacky. I wouldn't personally get anything here if it wasn't per specific request. read more
Recent bride here and I had to share the amazing experience I had at Van's Bakery. They made it so easy to select the style and flavor of cake. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted but Van was amazing providing expertise anywhere I had questions. They also have cake stands available to rent to make your cake have more wow factor without having to add an additional layer to the cake! I ended up not being able to use it because the table was too small and they took it back no problem. They are also able to deliver the cake as well which made my wedding day stress free! For the cake we had a strawberry cream layer (my favorite) and and coffee layer (my parents favorite) and my guest gave it the highest complement possible soft and not too sweet! read more

Loved our wedding cake from Van's Bakery! I spoke with Tracy and she was amazing to work with! I am an out-of-state bride so it was difficult ordering from an Asian bakery without stopping by to put in an order. I was able to order and pay via the phone. I dropped off flowers the day before and showed them a photo of what I would like and had it picked up the day of my wedding. The cake was $250 for a 3-tiered cake and was the perfect amount of sweetness...not too sweet! Thank you Tracy for your help! read more

We stopped by the Vans store two weekends ago to grab a few of my favorite cookies: Bánh ống, Bánh Gai, and Bánh Hạnh Nhân. Sadly, they no longer have Bánh Ống cookies. We tried the others. The first bite was very disappointing because there was no taste of any coconut milk, even though they are not that bad. But they are not the same as the original, traditional cookies. Please bring back the coconut ingredients. The store displayed much fewer items than it used to, which was another downside of Vans Bakery. The service is always fast here. Overall, Vans Bakery is still one of the few stores carrying these kinds of cookies, so gladly, they are still running. They got 2 1/2 stars, in my opinion. read more

We purchased our wedding cake from Van's Bakery. Van's Bakery staff was very friendly and helpful. The cake tasted freaking delicious. They had us come in for a tasting, where we picked between 3 flavors, after they had use choose the size and tiers. On the day of, they delivered the cake, and all of our guests loved it. The cost is extremely affordable, the cake looked beautiful, and the cake was amazingly delicious. All of our guests complimented how amazing our cake tasted and we agree as well. If you are looking for an affordable and great tasting wedding cake. I would 100 % recommend looking here. read more

The flan cake is great! Light and creamy base with crunchy-ish clear gelatin on top. Definitely something different than the usual cake. A conversation starter for parties! read more
We would highly recommend Van's Bakery for their wedding cakes! Had our celebration in Westminster, and was satisfied with the presentation and affordability of their cake. It was three-tiered, with several flavor options to select from. We decided on strawberry, coconut, and coffee. So delicious, fluffy, and not too sweet! Lasted the hour drive to the venue. We got a small cake for cutting and two sheet cakes for the 125 guests, which was plenty because we had a lot left over! read more
