Absolutely outstanding from start to finish. Attentive and knowledgeable server. Great wine selection and willing to provide tastes if you're unsure what you want. I advise getting a bottle that will serve you throughout the meal. First time here but we will be back (all the way from Lincoln!). The steak itself was worth the trip. Extraordinary pasta- get the chef's mother's special. Plus they give you your own bottle of chilled water- always love that. So last night was the first time we went, it's been a long time coming ! So let me tell you blew my socks off! Reminded me so much of my favorite restaurant that closed down andiamo ! The drinks were awesome and refreshing I got the gin special she got the deep eddy ruby with grapefruit. They brought over fresh bread with an olive oil dip with a homemade spread on the rim of the olive oil which also was delicious!! For appetizers we got a burrata special it was amazingly different!! We also got the eggplant it was so Fresh and delicious I couldn't get enough !!! Followed by the arugula salad! ARUGULA + RADICCHIO, GORGONZOLA, FIG, WALNUT, SPECK, RED WINE VINEGAR, EVOO Ohhh my god delicious!!! We split that!!!! Next was dinner we both ordered the salmon and mmmmm mmmm was it good nice crisp layer on top and delicious lentils on the bottom!! Finished with 2 affogato with cappuccino ice cram !!!!! Quaint restaurant serving Italian dishes. I ordered the special appetizer as my entree, made with polenta, cow cheek, and crisped greens served in a hot dish. The hubby ordered the steak and we also ordered the focaccia bread with apple, grilled onion butter and caramel on the side. As for drinks, I had water and hubby got a soda. The bill totaled to $75 including tip. Would I go back there? Probably not. My appetizer was good, very flavorful, too flavorful that I had to order the bread to bland it out. The steak was good but not worth $35. I think the place is a little too pricey for me and I could get better steak and meal at Divine (Westshore Rd. Warwick, RI) for that price. The place is cozy and always packed, so I suggest making a reservation. I'm giving the place 3 star because the food was good; the service crew just looked at me without a greeting when we I came in; however, though the hostess took sometime to sit us at the bar, she was accommodating and the bartender was knowledgeable of the specials menu. This place really wants to be upscale. The prices are high, the menu looks upscale, but honestly it doesn't come close to delivering what they advertise. I generally give a restaurant 3 visits before a review but since we live close we have tried to frequent. We wanted so much to have a great restaurant to visit in Apponaug but tonight was our last visit. By no means do we have an abundance of money, but we love quality food and beverages so now and then we see value in spending a little extra for a good night out. We have found that Vanda is extremely hit or miss and quite pricey. The charcuterie board is always very good. The waitstaff isn't. Tonight we had a good waiter who has waited on us a few times. The meals here are very inconsistent, an portions are skimpy. My wife is actually hungry after her 5 little angliotti and my pasta with seafood was very mediocre. The sauce was just not too fresh and a bit muddy. Clean your littlenecks? The pasta was good, but overall, Just average. Now for the bill...$134 for 2 people. What??? My martini was $21!! We complained but the staff brough up trends and other bars blah blah yet I've never spent more than $16 for a martini, even with stuffed olives To sum it up, not worth it! Go to Siena if you want good Mediterranean. Not going back! So sad as we want quality in Warwick... read more

Food was good but the portions were smaller than average, especially for dinner portions and pricier than your average local Italian bistro Got a few things wrong as far as service.... waited a bit for server to come back for the grated cheese/pepper-mill after meals dropped, forgot my husband's beer, apparently didn't hear spaghetti with just butter for the little one. All was rectified but it downgrades the experience. Server made up for it as she was very personable. Pasta is very good there, however the chicken risotto special was a little bland. I will probably just go back for drinks/apps at the bar or perhaps lunch which has always been very good there. read more

The food, waiter and ambiance were all a 5! But I'm not sure I'll be back. The food was great the meatballs are some of the best I've had, the bread and butters are crunchy and chewy all at once a real treat. I ordered the cacio e pepe which was wonderful bright and peppery. My friend had the chicken which looked amazing. Our waiter was a doll, friendly and attentive. It's an adorable little place. But it's not the kind of place you can relax at, you aren't having long conversations and catching up with friends here. It's too small, they need to turn tables so you do get rushed. Our first time, early on a Thursday evening, we were lucky, without a reservation, to get seated (at the bar - all tables were reserved). Very nice bright vibe. It's a small space with lots of floor to ceiling windows. Our bartender was very personable and made good suggestions. Our meals were both excellent (Hand-cut Fettuccine Bolognese & Chicken Statler) and came out pretty fast. We had a very nice time chatting with our bartender and other guests seated at the bar. Elderly gentleman hosting - had not seen him before - and sat us at worst table in the house. Said all other tables [most empty] were reserved. WE had a reservation! Waitress came by and we asked her. She gave us a table in front of bathroom door. Better than the first one but not by much. Overheard elderly guy chewing her out for seating us and even heard my name mentioned in his complaining! Food was great but treatment spoiled the evening. We were on our adventure in New England and traveling from Newport to the Providence area, trying to figure out where the best place to eat would be according to my car's GPS system. Thinking it was going to be a seafood restaurant, we accidentally entered THIS Italian restaurant with some great expectations. The food is just extraordinary! What we had for the food are the Caprese salad, the calamari for an appetizer, and the Italian panini sandwich for lunch. Everything was amazing! Man alive was this place delicious. Had two soups on two different days and I can honestly say that I didn't know soup (which I love btw) could have this much flavor. I also had the opportunity to try the homemade focaccia with garlic purée, beet butter, and olive oil - very, very dangerous because lord almighty was it good. We chose a cozy table to the right Tried to order bottle of merlot,told we don't carry Merlot but waiter recommended $76 bottle of red wine.... real cute....then he brought out bread ,olive oil and garlic paste that was way too salty..... The meal was average at best veal was very small medallion like in size....the steak was good but small.... fish was ok.... Their attempt at fine dining i found comical between the location and the kid waiter....who read the specials but combined the apps and the entres which was confusing....if all these people who compared this restaurant to federal hill keep coming in maybe it will survive..... we found nothing that would make us return....best of luck read more

Was given a kindly heads up about this spot from my AirBnB hostess. I'm traveling from out of town and initially thought, hmm I may be too underdressed for this restaurant, but I went inside, sat at the bar, and immediately felt so welcome. The glass of Chianti helped! The ambiance is warm and friendly, as are all of the staff and patrons I met. I began with the meat and cheese board, which was beautifully presented and equally tasty. Next was the arugula salad, and I can not recommend this enough. Next time I would probably request extra figs as they were my favorite part of the dish! I only got pasta after the salad, but after a long day of traveling, the fusilli dish really hit the spot. It was simple, warm, full of comforting flavors. Vanda is a culinary delight and quite popular! We had a reservation for 6:30, stayed til about 9:45 and the restaurant was busy the entire time we dined. The decor is pleasing; dining room is intimate with a bar, but comfortable. It is tastefully appointed with mementos from the owner's mother and shelves of live plants lined the glass windows above the dining area along the perimeter of the restaurant. The staff was warm and accommodating. 6 of us ate here last night and we ALL enjoyed our meals. The ingredients are fresh and dishes are made to order. The owner credits his mother with the recipes for the dishes on the menu. The restaurant is willing make substitutions for dietary restrictions, though there is a charge. Brown paper bags of bread are served with dipping oil before the meal (a mishap occurred here; I'll explain below). Some in our party chose salads and these were savory and ample enough to share. For dinner we chose Fettuccini Bolognese, Vongole (clams) with garlic, white wine and crostini, roasted Statler chicken with zucchini, red bliss tomatoes and mushrooms demi glaze, Sirloin medallions with onions in a Demi glaze, broccoli and broccoli mashed potatoes, Cod with rabe, lemon, capers and anchovies and Mafaldine (pasta) aglio e olio. After the meal ALL of our plates returned to the kitchen emptied. Accidents happen! A dish of dipping oil spilled onto one of our purses staining the leather. The waitstaff quickly cleaned up the mess and the management offered to replace the purse at their expense. KUDOS to the restaurant!! We have only two minor critiques. The noise level is quite high and a side order of polenta was never served. We'll concede the missing polenta was a oversight, though we think we were charged for it. (We should have reviewed the bill more closely). As for the noise, well, the other diners were enjoying themselves too and it didn't interfere with the experience. If you like fresh ingredients, served to order then Vanda should be on your restaurant 'bucket list'. We'll be back. read more

Finally someone has turned this location into something worth visiting. I have eaten here twice and each time the service has been above and beyond. The servers have been very knowledgeable about the extensive menu items. They are passionate about the food and history of the restaurant. I learned that a lot of the decor is from the namesakes' kitchen. The food is outstanding with many house made pastas and desserts. I've had the charcuterie board, Caesar salad, focaccia, bolognese, gnocchi, amartriciana, cacio e pepe, fish special and the pork chop. I have been dying to go to this place for a few years. There are always people filling the seats when ever we drove by. I was excited to get reservations on a Saturday night. Absolutely amazing flavor in everything we had! Upon first glance of the menu I knew what wanted but then we heard the specials! We ordered both of the Scallops with risotto, steak over rabbi, mushrooms and polenta. Service was Top notch. Food was cooked to order from in a timely fashion. They lost points this visit. Very good food, love the ambiance early in evening. We have learned to book ahead. First time taking aunt and uncle who were looking for good food an ambiance.... We don't care for the busyness of the scene at peak hours, way too noisy, loses its ambiance. They weren't impressed. Can't hear music unless you go to restroom. ...true story and having conversation was difficult. Mom is vegan, altho they say chef is very accommodating it feels like all three times we've been here with her, choices are too basic and limited for such a fine restaurant. Super big bummer for her especially in a day with so many vegans. She has had their pasta primavera, fancy salads and fusilli and all lacked flavor. Also feels like they look at you crazy when you have special requests doesn't always seem super gracious but we manage it. They were so busy this visit they were bringing our entrees but hadn't cleared bread plates and focaccia board so it felt very rushed and disjointed, Table was cluttered and we were helping move dishes to clear. We get they are trying to get people in and out to accommodate but it shouldn't dampen the experience.
